Chapter 23: Heart to Heart

"You seem bothered by something," Yan says as he watched from behind of her with laughing eyes, a coy smile tugging at the edge of his lips.

He noticed that these days, she did not really bother much with him, even being busy reading a book as he would often be shoo-ed away by her to do something useful with his time, leaving him with nothing much to do except to play boring little games to keep himself entertained when he is not otherwise occupied.

"There are many things that I'm bothered with, you are one for example," Kagome said as she read through the bamboo scroll carefully, rolling it open as she uncover more writings in the bamboo scroll.

"I'm touched that you worry and thought so much about me," Yan purred as he immediately snuggled up to her.

Somehow, Kagome found herself to be seated on him with his arms acting like a cage, firmly holding her in his arms as he seem to refuse to letting her go. It was all too common for her already to allow him to do so without her fighting back. Remaining unaffected much, Kagome continued reading the bamboo scroll after making a sound from her throat to signify her annoyance.

"Were you expecting someone tonight?" Yan asked her, looking at her curiously, sounding nonchalant about it, but if one were to look closely they would see a flash of annoyed curiosity and possessiveness flashed by in the depth of his eyes.

Kagome frowned at his words, her eyes shifted to look in the direction of the door to her provided room.

"I'm sure whoever it is should have some sense that it is late into their curfew," Kagome commented turning her eyes away from the door as she returned her attention to the scroll that she is reading on hand.

"How cold, but all the more I find that part of you endearingly attractive," Yan said leaning his head down to the junction between her neck and shoulder as he nuzzled it, his warm breath playing against her skin as it left her a tickling sensation.

"I don't remember your kind being so affectionate," Kagome commented as she did not bother looking at him, scooting her body a little more away from him so that she could put some distance, no matter how minute it is.

"There's many things about my kind that you do not know about," he mumbled into her ear, coming in on her even more intimately.

"Yes, well I'm not into one-night stand, or short-term relationship, so it is best that you find that in some other female of your kind preferably," Kagome told him, reaching out with a hand as she pushed his face away from her neck area that is making her feel more sensitive and oddly tingly, a sensation that she is oddly not familiar with.

"You never seem to complain about it until now?" Yan complained a little, slightly peeved about her rejection and setting the line between them at the moment.

"Where have you been putting that stone?"

"I'm getting it analyzed,"

"Analyzed? Why?" he asked, somewhat surprised at her action for it.

"Hmm just to make sure,"

"About?"

"Things that is unwanted,"

"How untrusting, I could have told you that," Yan complained to her.

"Just for assurance," Kagome added with a quick mocking smile upon her lips as she glanced at him and then ignored him again.

"Am I really that untrusting," Yan asked her with a raised of a well-trimmed brow, reminding her somewhat of Sesshoumaru when she glanced at him.

"We're in a blood pact that is temporal, and you will be free of it soon as we can find a reasoning for it," Kagome added rolling up the bamboo scroll as she sighed and leaned back for a moment, and right into his arms that is already around of the chair, and now wrapped around of her shoulder as she was pulled closer to him.

"That is really unfriendly of you, after all, I am really helpful to you when needed isn't it,"

"Okay, well if you would helpfully get yourself tucked into be, I would like to get some sleep myself," Kagome said stretching herself before getting up from the chair as she moved towards her table to place the bamboo scroll for reading later.

"Won't it be troublesome for me if I have to slip into your bed just about every other night because it gets lonely where I sleep," he commented more than questioning her, "Let's not fuss tonight and just go to bed," he added, already standing by her side as he carried her to her bed which is big enough for them to share.

"Anything funny and I'll singed you," Kagome warned him, already knowing that it is too much trouble to fight against him especially when in the end he would usually win.

"Of course, I would never do something that intimate without your consent,"

"And this is not intimate?" Kagome mocked him with a raised brow on her as she tilted her head upwards to look into Yan's mesmerizing eyes. Those eyes that looks like gold, just like that of Sesshoumaru, only flakes with a iridescence like that of magma, a fiery reddish orange tones.

"Not to me,"

"Shameless," was all she could say, already used to him being this intimate to her that it is really natural to her, only when he gets a little overly close, would she lash out, other than that, he has proven to be harmless.

"How about some rest and dealing with these in the morning," he suggested, already tucking the both of them in as he snuggled up close to her, practically spooning her as Kagome shifted a little away from him, but found it useless as always with someone so bossy like him, and very much like Sesshoumaru in some sense as well.

There was no point in rebutting him, it would always end with the same as him having the last say. And it annoys her, but she is sure as hell not going to lose sleep over him.

Yan smiled, as he glanced down at the back of her head, nuzzling the top of her head with the side of his face an arm slithering around of her waist as he spooned her a little closer and though through the thinness of the clothes that they are wearing, he could feel her warmth.

There are many things already set in motion as his eyes glowered the color of dull amber, before closing them with a satisfied smile upon his face as he could picture the chaos going on now with a piece of the Elder Wand going missing temporarily. Though it is a good thing that the soul stone will be like any other normal stone after it has her imprint on it, and will be useless to anyone else that comes across it, aside from him.
