Ea hate kitten.

He hated them so much, deeper than the ocean and endless than sky.

But somehow, Landkarte thought his housemate was just over-reacting and wasting his time by telling an absurd lie.

.

"Admit it, Ea."

"I've told you, right? I hate them!"

"Hate them? Are you sure?"

"I'm positive—"

"I do remember that time, when we're still in elementary school, you know?"

Story 25

You Do, Don't You?

Ea stiffened. He didn't want to remember that again.

Landkarte chuckled. He patted the little kitten's head gently before continuing, "This kitten is similar with that one, isn't it?"

The dark-haired boy didn't answer. He didn't want to look at the kitten on Landkarte's lap, throwing away his face with his hands crossed in front of his chest. Was he sulking? Only God, Landkarte, and Ea himself who knew that.

"I said I didn't want to see that kitten again! Let it go outside now!" ordered Ea, still with his hands crossed in previous gesture. Landkarte pretended he didn't hear it, though—he wouldn't do what Ea wanted before his housemate admitted that he indeed loved cats, he couldn't brace himself to dump it away, and he didn't dare to see it stared at him with tearful eyes as if it was saying, "Please take care of me, Ea~~"

Hell no.

"Or are you jealous with this little guy, Ea?"

"No way. Not a chance of snowball in Sahara."

"Admit it, then."

"Am I jealous with that kitten? Not even in your dream."

Landkarte sighed. If Ea started to act like a child, then the role of an adult fell to him instantly—and he had no choice but to accept that. "Not that one, you know. If I let this little guy keep meowing outside, half-way freezing to death, while you're inside the manor here with warm blanket covering you, wouldn't that be very cruel?"

Ea snorted. "Like hell if I care. Put it outside now, Landkarte!"

"I won't! This manor is soooo big! Kuroma ("What's that? This kitten's name?" Ea's eyes widened in shock when Landkarte nodded happily. "You've only met with this creature for five minutes and you've given it a name?") won't enter your room without permission, I promise!" Landkarte's voice became louder than before, as if he was shouting—but in fact, he didn't. Ea, who hadn't realized that fact yet, gave him a disapproving frown. "And here you are, sulking like a spoiled child—"

Landkarte covered his mouth immediately. /Oh crap, I've hit his sensitive spot…/

"—if you want to keep that damned kitten, keep it for yourself then! Don't expect me to give it any mercy if it enters my room!"

And with that, Ea rushed toward his own room with furious face.

Landkarte face-palmed in despair. "Dear God, what've I done…?"

.

.

"Where's Ea?"

Landkarte whimpered. He laid his head on the table, the kitten—Kuroma—looked at him with its curious blue eyes. Fest, who was just came home after working since morning, didn't know what've happened here until Landkarte didn't cling to Ea like usual. The man with glasses couldn't help but wonder how could a cat sitting on top of a table and Landkarte's face became that tired. The light-haired teen always looked cheerful and energetic everyday, so the time where he put that kind of face on were the really urgent one. "What've happened here, Landkarte? Do you have a fight with him today?"

First strike. That one hit Landkarte far too deep.

Fest's brown eyes stared at the innocent kitten next to Landkarte's head before concluding, "And your fight was because of this kitten?"

Second strike. This time, Landkarte's eyes became tearful.

Realizing what was the possible sequence for this incident, Fest coughed for a while. "And Ea locked himself inside his room since your fight ended?"

Third strike. Landkarte finally started to melt away and Fest became panic in instant. The kitten just stared at them as if they're doing some funny opera together.

.

Inside his room, Ea laid himself on the bed with his eyes closed. He had tried to sleep since, what, an hour ago? But hell—he couldn't even go to his precious and beautiful dreamland even though he had covered himself with his thick and comfy blanket! And those were the kitten's fault!

…well, not entirely, actually.

He was just afraid of being hurt again.

He was afraid that the kitten would avoid him when he tried to be nice, that's all.

And Landkarte was right—he was over-reacting.

With his messy hair and gloomy eyes, Ea woke from his not-so-deep sleep and walked toward the door…

…only to find Landkarte with the kitten on his hand right in front of his door, ready to knock on it before Ea opened it.

Ea frowned, while Landkarte smiled nervously.

"Can we talk for a moment, Ea…?"

The dark-haired teen scoffed before gave the light-haired one way to enter his room. Along with the black kitten, of course—like what've Landkarte said before, he couldn't brace himself to let it alone. After both of them had entered his room and sat on an empty chair, Ea sat on his bed instead and hugged his pillow. "Speak now, you loafer. If not, I'm going to sleep again now."

"W-well… I'm sorry for what I've said earlier…" Landkarte bowed his head, asking for an apology from his deepest. The kitten meowed, as if asking for the same thing too. Its eyes—oh, what a wide and innocent pair of blue eyes—looked at Ea, saying, "Please forgive me, Ea~~" silently.

And if they have done that thing together with similar looks on their eyes, Ea couldn't help himself but to forgive them.

/Mental note: cover your eyes with something dark and thick whenever Landkarte started to use his drenched kitten-look on you,/ Ea thought, trying to avert his eyes from Landkarte's gleeful one. /Or else, you can't help yourself but to forgive him—no matter what kind of mistake he has done before./

Another mental note for this incident: drenched kitten-look a la Landkarte's dangerous for Ea.

Very, very dangerous.

/Dear God…/ Ea sighed, hugging his pillow tighter than before when Landkarte started to cling to him again. /Could You please, grant me a power to resist that look? Because—my oh my, I've never thought I'll say it now—I'm worried he'll use it for wrong purpose. Like, well, asking for a cheating in an exam, maybe?/ Ea knew the example was impossible, since Landkarte had swore he would never cheat on examination after Profe took away his beloved PSP from him. But since there're always possibilities appeared in urgent time, however…

…well, let's just say he was preparing for the worst.
