"Hey, I recognize this. It's Robbie's home!" Mabel shakes my body.
"Ouch, Mabel! You know I have a sensitive skull," I remind her as we try to regroup ourselves for the nineteenth time today.
I recognize the wilting grass of Gravity Falls, but everything is in black and white. I brush off my hat and snatch my journal out of Luke's hands. "I'll kindly take back my most prized possession," I flip to the page Luke read.
"So... this is very dangerous. We're in Robbie's mind right now, but we only have enough time to invade his privacy until he wakes up. Let's find our answer and get out," I open the door.
"Over there!" Travis bolts up the staircase and enters Robbie's room. Posters of punk bands and stalker-ish photos of Wendy line the walls. At least I'm not that obsessive, of course. Annabeth opens up the drawers in his desk, and Luke checks under the bed.
"Do you guys think Robbie has the antidote? Or does he know where it is?" Annabeth asks.
"It's most likely that he's not in possession of such a powerful object," I respond. I check under Robbie's pillowcase.
"I found it!" I pull out a folder entitled My Most Personal Secrets.
Mabel giggles, "That makes sense; you keep your secret collection of photos of Wendy under there."
"Wh-what?! No, I don't," my voice cracks every other word. Annabeth laughs at my embarrassment.
Luke opens up the folder, "I have nightmares about clowns... I wish I had purple eyes... Oh here!"
Annabeth peeks from behind, "Oh my gods, I should've known. Of course Eris would have it, she likes nothing but trouble. I heard she once tried to hit on Apollo and got humiliated."
I interrupt, "So we have to face a goddess and convince her to give us the antidote? Sounds like a plan." Mabel squeezes my clammy hand.
"We have to wait for Robbie to wake up before we can do this, so might as well prepare now," Luke leads us out of the room.
"Here's a memory with a field. Let's go practice," Travis opens a door.
The five of us wait at the edge of the field, watching a nine year old Robbie fall face flat into the grass. I almost laughed, but I caught myself. We watched him sob and scurry into the woods.
"Oh well, let's fight!" Mabel whipped out her sword, nearly beheading Luke again. She swings at Travis, but he deflected it and smirked.
"Challenge accepted," he says as they begin to duel, swiftly slicing back and forth.
Travis has had more practice with a sword, but Mabel's so unpredictable. Eventually, she pulls out a cute sweater with a golden retriever on it and ties his arms and feet together. He falls to the ground, worming like a fool. I don't think worming is a word, but Mabel excitedly shouts, "That's a new dance move! You look great, Travis."
I didn't really want to participate in hand to hand combat (especially with my evil genius/madman of a sister,) but I wanted to see if my archery skills could slightly improve. "Hey, how'd you do that?" Annabeth asks me.
I quirk an eyebrow, and she points at... the bow and arrow that suddenly appeared in my hand. "Huh, I just thought about it. I didn't realize it was possible to conjure thoughts in someone else's mind. Cool."
I conjure a target only five feet away and aim the arrow. Pull, and shoot.
Darn. I mean, shoot. I can be funny. Okay, I'll shut up now.
The arrow flies to the right and pierces Travis' leg. "AHHHHHHHH!" he shrieks.
I drop the bow and run over, "Calm down, Travis. See?" I remove the arrow with my thoughts and he widens his eyes. "You can do anything you can imagine," I explain. The sweater around Travis' limbs unties itself.
"Kittens for fists!" Mabel exclaims, and she begins to pelt us all with pink cat heads. "Mabel, stop! You're insane!" I yell.
She cackles, and after all of us are buried in meowing heads, we all start to laugh. Annabeth is the first to worm her way out, and she pulls me up. "Thanks, Annabeth. However, you could've just imagined the cats away," I add.
She throws one at my head and laughs, "Shut it, Wise Guy. If only you were smart enough to do that yourself."
"Wow, you've got to be a real nerd to be called Wise Guy by an actual daughter of Athena," I say to myself. I join in Annabeth's laughter, "Well, I think Wise Girl has a better ring to it."
Suddenly, our surroundings began to fade. "He's waking up!" Luke exclaims.
I shut my eyes and brace for another headache.
Robbie is still groggy when I motion to the woods. Everyone follows me into the woods, leaving Robbie to live the rest of his strange life in Gravity Falls.
We retreat to a familiar place in the woods, but since my mind is still muddled, I can't quite place the reason for my uneasiness. Maybe it's the darkness of night. Wow... I can't remember the last time I slept. We've been going in an out of our world, and frankly, I'm too tired to keep track of it. As I open my mouth to suggest we sleep, Annabeth announces a final plan.
"I have an idea. It's crazy, but I think it's the only chance we have," Annabeth says.
No one else speaks up, so I look at her and assure her, "We trust you Annabeth."
She smiles with the corner of her lips, "Thanks, Dipper. Alright everyone, I need you to think about your worst memories, your worst fears. Now."
There's a rustling behind the bushes, and everyone is so concentrated that we're all caught off guard when a gnome flies through the air and grabs onto Luke's hair.
"Not these again!" Mabel screams.
Luke wrestles the gnome and flings him into a tree. "Charge!" a tiny voice yells. Oh no.
Waves of tiny men scramble out from behind the trees. Annabeth, Luke, Travis, and I all pull out our weapons, but we get pinned down but tiny arms. I struggle for a little, but then they just retreat.
...But, where's Mabel?
"Oh my gods what is going on this wasn't supposed to happen where is Eris why did a bunch of gnomes take Mabel oh my gods!" Annabeth finally stops rambling as her face pales.
Luke wipes away some blood on his forehead, "One of those things must've gotten a pedicure recently; that hurt!"
Surprisingly, I'm the most calm out of the group. I know where Mabel is, and I know that no matter how much the gnomes hated me, they'd never hurt her. I smile, "It's okay guys! The worst situation Mabel could be in right now is getting married to the gnomes, but we can safely just pop in and get her. They're overwhelming when working together, so our best bet is stealth."
They don't really have a chance to question me because I head into the forest and don't look back. I pause to check if they've decided to follow me, and then we make our way around the trees. It's not pitch black yet, but I accidentally mistake a log for a giant snake and make a fool of myself.
I hear Mabel's voice in the distance, "For the last time Jeff, I am not marrying you! I don't care that you just took a squirrel bath!"
Finally, we reach the home of the gnomes. It's lit up with magic mushrooms, and most of the gnomes are asleep in patches of moss. This could be easier than expected.
