Chapter 16-Escape

**Nudge's POV**

I woke up, finding myself in a small, well lit room.

The pill had finally wore off. Good.

I got up and looked around.

"Good,you're awake."

I turned to see Kana materializing from the shadows. Skylar stood by her side.

"We had a deal alright. I gave you the information and led them here,now you fulfill your half."

Skylar raised an eyebrow at Kana. By the way their expressions changed,I could tell they were speaking telepathically. Kana sighed.

"Alright. However,there has been a slight complication."

I almost growled at her.

"What kind of complication?"

They exchanged strange looks with each other.

"The flock already thinks I'm dead right?"

The pill they gave me was a way for my heart to seem as if it stopped beating. Almost as if I was dead. And the flock believed it. They nodded.

"So what's the problem?"
"If we remove your wings,there is a small chance you could be permanently paralyzed."

I looked down and thought for a moment.

"How small of a chance?"

Skylar responded this time.

"About a 30% chance."

"Then that's a chance I'm willing to take."

I watched as Kana waved her hands behind me. The words she spoke were barely audible. Suddenly, I felt a giant weight lifted off my back. I looked over my shoulders and saw that my feathers were gone. I smiled,finally happy that I could go live a normal life. I turned back to Skylar and Kana.

"Thank you. Now can I leave?"

Kana nodded her head and I suddenly felt wind surround me. I opened my eyes to find myself in a dark alley. I smiled as I walked out to see the busy town of New York.

"To my new life."

**Max's POV**

I said my goodbyes to the flock and was running through the halls with Angel beside me. I gave her a sideways glance. Her white hair was flowing behind her and she was practically floating as she ran. Something felt off. Angel sensed this and gave me a look of concern.

"I feel it too Max. This feels too easy."

Angel lead us back to the cafeteria where I first sparked up. It was still a mess. Angel looked around as if she was analyzing where we were.

"We should go this way."
Angel pointed down a hallway. I nodded and we continued to run. We heard voices as we came closer to the end of the corridor.

"What do you think of the director moving the plan ahead?"
I recognized that voice.

Skylar? What the hell was Skylar doing? Is she even on our side?

As we neared the end of the hallway,I watched her white hair appear from behind the corner with a hooded figure beside her. I slowed down as they caught sight of us.

"Oh! There you two are. Where are the others?"

I narrowed my eyes.

"That's none of your business."

Skylar laughed and looked back at me with a snarl.

"Its is now bitch!"

Before I could respond, Skylar charged at me. Her fist collided with my face and I hit the wall. I watched out of the corner of my eye to see Angel being attacked by Kana. Angel's tiny body was trying her best to defend against what I assumed was Kana's telepathic waves. Almost as if they were locked in a psychological battle. Skylar rushed at me again. Her fist was already pulled back,allowing me the chance to defend. I lifted my left leg into the air,using my wings for balance. Her face collided with my foot and I switched hands,giving her a double kick to the face. She stumbled back and I sparked up by instinct. Skylar growled as her stripes began to appear in her hair and fur began to sprout from her body. She came at me faster as she charged at me again. My sparks disappeared as I hit the ground. She had pinned me down to the ground. Her constantly changing eyes looked down at me with anger and sorrow.

"You left me behind. You're the reason why my brother died!"

I gave her a confused look.

"The hell are you talking about?"

She shook her head and a cackle escaped her lips.

"You fucking bitch!"

She began punching me in the face. I put my arms up in defense,but the blows still connected. I felt my nose and lip split. I mustered all the strength I could and blew a massive spark off my body as if it was a wave. Her body slammed against the wall. I stood up and wiped the blood from my nose and lip. I walked over to where Angel and Kana were having their psychological battle. Electrical sparks kissed my fingertips and I launched a punch at Kana's face. They two of them were blown back. I walked over to Angel, trying hard not to trip over my own two feet. I knelt over beside her.

"Angel. Are you okay?"
Angel sprung up as if she had just woken up from a bad dream.

"Agh! Max? What the hell? What happened?"
"I should be asking you the same thing. What was going on?"

"We were fighting. I'm not sure how but we were somehow inside her mind or my mind. I'm not sure."

I spotted Kana getting up.

"I'll finish this."
I walked over to her while I cracked my knuckles. Kana looked up at me with desperation. Her eyes pleaded me not to kill her. Suddenly, a gust of wind pushed me back. I look over to see familiar black and white wings. He turned to me with pleading eyes.

Blake?

"Please Max. Please don't kill her."
