This is gonna be a VERY VERY short chapter, but the ending will leave you wanting for more...I PROMISE *evil grin*
"So, how is everything at home?" Stacey, my co-worker asked
"Great" I lied
"And how's the baby?"
"Also great, he's been a little angel, and you can't keep Paul away from him." I said with a smile
"So, no late nights?"
"Well" I said titling my head left and right "there's been a few" I said as I wrote down some information for a new promotion. "But 8 times out of 10, he's the perfect little angel and goes to bed when we want him too. He only wakes up when he's hungry or needs his diaper changed."
"Sounds like the perfect baby"
"Oh, he is" I said as I looked up and smiled.
"Well" Stacey said throwing her coffee cup in the trash can "I'm gonna call it a night and head home. I gotta cook Steve and the boys some food."
"How is it, when they grow up?"
She shrugged. "It depends. Some days they're rowdy, some they're as quiet as a mouse. Then there's days when Steve runs around the house like a mad man with them and I can't catch a break" she said chuckling "but I love my boys and wouldn't trade them for the world"
I smiled. "I wonder if Paul and our son are gonna be that way"
"From the sounds of it, they are" she said smiling
"Do you want a girl?"
"Oh no" she said shaking her head and hands "I'm done having kids. Yes, I would have liked to had one while we were trying, but we both agreed that two was the limit. We both wanted a boy and a girl but we're happy with our boys"
"What if you accidentally get pregnant?"
"I'm fixed" she said smiling
"Damn"
She laughed. "We were serious. But, I did freeze my eggs, so if we do decide to have another, which I highly doubt, but if we do, we'll either get a surrogate, or we'll do it the old fashion way and I'll have it"
"But you're fixed" I said looking at her oddly
"I got them tied, not burned at the end" she said chuckling "once they're burned there's no going back"
"Ah" I said nodding
"Well, like I said, I'm heading in. I'll just finish my ad tomorrow or during that boring ass board meeting that Luke is going to be speaking at"
I rolled my eyes
"Don't roll your eyes" she teased "you're the one that picked him to speak"
"That was before I knew how boring he was" I said with a chuckle.
Stacey patted me on the back "see ya girl" she said as she walked out.
I parked my car around the back and hopped out. I was home early, I wanted to surprise Paul. Remember when I lied to Stacey and said things were great? Well, that haven't been actually. Quiet the opposite.
It's been a year since the baby was born, and well, it seems as if things have begun to go back to the way they once were, and not in a good way.
Paul was becoming more and more like his old self. Somedays were good while others were just horrible. But we finally started to get back on track again, at least that's what I thought.
I walked into the house, went to our son's room and checked on him, I gave him a kiss as I watched him sleep and exited his room as I headed toward my bedroom with a huge smile on my face. I was finally ready to put all this craziness behind us and show my man how much I really loved him and how I had I wanted us to work. As I got closer to the bedroom, I heard moans and groans. My heart sank immediately, it didn't take a dummy to tell you what was going on, my only question was with who.
I opened the door and walked in, the lights were off and nothing but soft music and candle light could be seen and heard, and the moans and groans of course. I walked further and turned the corner. I gasped in shock, I just couldn't believe this.
A woman was on top of Paul, It didn't take a scientist to figure out who she was, I could tell just by looking at the back of her head. He turned his head and saw me and gasped and she did too.
"How could you?" I chocked out, barely above a whisper
"Baby...it's...it's not what you think...I swear" Paul said as he pushed her off and grabbed his pants and stood up, frantically trying to get dressed.
I held in the tears as I looked at my husband and the woman who I thought was a friend. I managed to choke out her name through all the pain and heartache.
"...Alise"
