Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.
Charlie arrived at the bunker loaded down with bags of stuff. Coming through the door she was slightly taken aback by the fact that it wasn't just Sam and Dean there but two other guys as well.
"Charlie, this is Kevin, prophet, Gabriel, archangel and this is Cas, angel." Dean said to her picking up the small child she hadn't even registered as being there. Well that at least explained Deans request, but wait did he just say Cas?
"As in-" She started to ask but Dean interrupted her before she could continue.
"Castiel, angel of the lord. Yes." He replied smiling at her confused look.
"But how-" Charlie started to ask but was interrupted once again, though this time by Gabriel.
"I know my little bros cute and all that but surely an archangel deserves some amazement." Gabriel said waving his arms around dramatically to gain her attention.
"Yeah. Aren't you-" Charlie started only for yet another interruption, she was starting to wonder if she would ever be able to actually get a whole sentence out in this place.
"Alive and well and not pranking Dean. I know it's shocking behaviour isn't it?" Gabriel said loudly making his eyes go wide and putting a hand over his heart causing Cas to giggle at his brothers silly behaviour.
"Don't ask. He's always like that. Nice to meet you Charlie." Kevin said too the girl deciding to ignore Gabriel's theatrics, it was always safer that way.
"You too Kevin. I think you boys have a lot to tell me." Charlie replied glaring at Sam and Dean who just smiled at her.
"Sure but did you get the things I asked for?" Dean asked excitedly, he couldn't wait for Cas to see them.
"I did. Here." Charlie replied holding out one of the bags which he almost snatched out of her hand with a massive smile on his face.
"Hey Cas buddy I got Charlie to get you some toys." Dean said to the baby angel who was still in his arms.
"Why do I need toys Dean?" Cas asked with a confused head tilt to the hunter making Dean just look at him. How could a kid ask that question?
"Cos there fun to play with, come on I'll show you." he finally replied turning to carry Cas to the library so that he could show him how to play with toys.
"Oh this I just have to see." Gabriel said gleefully and turning to trot off after Dean and Cas. Just to watch Dean trying to teach Cas how to play and not because he thought it would be fun himself to join in. or at least that was what he told himself.
Once Gabriel, Dean and Cas had left to go play, Sam showed Charlie where she could sleep and where the kitchen was so they could put away the provisions. It also gave him time to explain everything that had happened since they last met.
Dean put Cas down when they got to the library and excitedly opened the bag to reveal a starter set of Lego blocks and 6 metal toy cars, one of which was an impala. God he loved Charlie for that. Pulling it all out he placed it on the table in front of Cas.
"Why are there miniature cars and what are these?" Castiel asked tilting his head looking at the box which seemed to contain bricks of some sort.
"That's Legos Cas. You build things with it and its fun. Look I'll show you." Dean said smiling at the baby angel as he opened the box and pulled out the bags of different size blocks. He then proceeded to build a small house out of them.
"See?" he said once he had finished, proud of what he had done.
Castiel stared at the strange box Dean had made out of the blocks. Maybe this was similar to his drawing where he did representations of things rather than the actual object. Castiel continued to study it trying very hard to work out what it was representing.
Gabriel on the over hand, being able to hear what was running through the fledging's mind found this extremely hilarious, he finally decided that he should probably help Cassie out. "It's a house kiddo." He said across their mental connection and watched smiling as Castiel's confusion left his face and he sat back smiling at Dean.
"It is a very good representation of a house Dean." Castiel finally said to the human with a smile.
"Thanks buddy. Why don't you have a go?" Dean asked gently breaking up the house he made and pushing the blocks towards Cas.
"But what should I make?" Castiel asked with confusion in his eyes. He looked up at Dean as if maybe he would tell him, like he had all the answers in this strange and confusing world of playing.
"Whatever you like. That's the fun bit. You can make anything your imagination can come up with." Dean replied with a smile on his lips at Cas. It was so sweet the way he took learning play so seriously.
At that Castiel turned and frowned at the bricks as he thought. His tongue sticking out of the side of his mouth as he went over all the different things he could make. Suddenly his eyes widened and he grabbed the box of Lego bricks and started searching through it of the right bits of the right colour.
"Guess that leaves you and me playing with the cars then Dean-o." Gabriel commented casually grabbing one from the table and placing it on the floor then looking up at Dean with a challenge in his eye.
"your on." Can Dean's response as he grabbed the toy impala and placed it next to the one Gabriel had chosen. They both then got down on their hands and knees to push their car to see which would go the furthest.
"1, 2, 3, go." Dean shouted pushing his off. It looked like the impala was going to win but suddenly Gabriel's car seemed to pick up speed.
"What did you do?" Dean asked Gabriel. He did not trust the archangel not to cheat.
"Nothing Dean-o." Gabriel replied innocently making his eyes go wide as he looked at him.
"You know lying is a sin." Dean said glaring at Gabriel. He didn't believe him for a minute.
"He's right. I don't think it's fair to use your grace against Dean do you?" asked Castiel innocently turning from the table.
"You were using grace?" Dean asked accusingly to Gabriel. It was at this point that Sam and Charlie entered the room.
"What's going on?" Sam asked looking from his brother to Gabriel to Castiel who had gone back to his building and therefore had his back to everyone in the room.
"Nothing. So Charlie you all caught up?" Dean asked standing from the floor and trying really hard to pretend that he hadn't just been playing with toy cars with a smug archangel.
"Yep. So I hear you have a commodore 64 for me to see. So lead on." She said with a wave and a smirk. She knew exactly what Dean had been doing. It was why she picked the impala up when she saw it in the store. So Dean would have it to play with.
"Yeah okay this way. Be back soon you two." Dean said ruffling Cas' hair as he walked past and receiving a distracted smile from the fledgling in the process, while Gabriel just nodded and clicked his fingers so that the cars on the floor appeared back on the table by Castiel. Not that his little brother seemed very interested in them at present. He was too busy building, whatever he was building. Gabriel contented himself with sitting there and watching Castiel work.
