A/N: Sequel to Mercy
Loki stepped back. He looked out over the bloodstained, corpse covered, barren land. He stepped back to the edge and looked down. Her body... It lay crumpled on the hard stone below. A knot formed in Loki's throat and something ripped through his stomach and chest. He swallowed once, hard, as his eyes slowly widened.
He climbed onto the narrow ledge meant to prevent him from falling. Looking out over the destroyed landscape again, he closed his eyes, and leaned forward. Do not forgive me. His feet slipped from the smooth stone.
Loki tumbled down. He opened his eyes. The ground and her mangled body rushed towards him. Then something changed. Haunting amber eyes flew open, locking with his. A mangled cry echoed in his ears. His fall seemed to slow, and as he touched ground strong, thin arms wrapped around him.
"Next time make it a thousand feet," came the hoarse whisper in his ear. Loki let out a shuddering breath. Then a dagger was thrust into his back. "No!"
Loki went limp, his vision fuzzing. He felt himself lowered to the ground as the woman who had been holding him stood. There was the sound of breaking bone. Blood poured out over the ground.
Ж
I glared at the dead form of the man whose neck I had snapped, whose head I had ripped off. I followed the trail of dark blood until my eyes fell upon Loki. "No!" I screamed again, falling to my knees beside him. I placed a shaking hand on his wound. It shouldn't kill him. He would be fine. But I could tell he had been poisoned. I pulled him into my arms, brushing the hair from his face. "Loki. Loki, please, come back to me. Be the man I knew again. Let him stay with me. Please."
Loki's eyes slowly shifted towards me. His hand lifted, cupping my cheek. "How...?"
"You know I jump from trees higher than that wall…"
Loki smiled weakly. His hand fell. I kissed him with all the strength I had left to give. He would live. I could feel it. He would be my Loki again.
"Nia…"
