Dawn was still a long way off and no matter how much he tried Blue Eyes eventually gave on getting any sleep so moving slowly and being careful not to wake Angel or Bright Eyes Blue Eyes went to sit just outside the hut looking up Blue Eyes saw the stars shining brightly in the night sky slowly he turned to look out and across the village to see if anyone else was up at this late hour to his surprise he could just about make out Rocket down by the watering hole next to a small fire
Blue Eyes made his way over to his uncle who seemed more the a bit confused as to why Blue Eyes was up at this hour
"Why up?" Rocket signed when Blue Eyes sat across from him reaching into the water to drink
"Thinking" Blue Eyes replied Rocket could see the young blood had things on his mind but Rocket also knew if Blue Eyes needed to get something off his chest he would so he waited to see if his young nephew would open up. For a while the two just sat in silence Blue Eyes from time to time looking up to the stars as if he was searching for something only the night sky could give Blue Eyes felt Rockets eyes on him when he turned to him and signed
"How did you know you were ready to have a family of your own?"
The question caught Rocket a little off guard but he just shrugged before signing
"Didn't, can't ever really know for sure but I think for me it was when I finally felt settled with Sparrow but took some time, why you ask?"
Blue Eyes just shrugged but looked over towards his hut Rocket followed his gaze before looking back at the young chimp
"Feel settled?"
This time Rocket had caught Blue Eyes off guard if Blue Eyes was really honest with himself he hadn't felt settled in a while but he didn't know why he knew Angel meant a lot to him and he knew Angel wanted to have a family he did too but could he even have one with her and if they could have some sort of offspring would it look like and what would others say would their child be accepted would it look normal would be able to accept it or even tolerate it these were questions that were going around and around in the young apes mind Blue Eyes creased his face up in thought
"Don't know, one part of me say yes other say no, father say I should wait that I'm not ready or if I am I should be with ape…." Blue Eyes paused to gather his thoughts "What if I have family and I am not ready?"
Rocket thought for a moment before he answered
"Not be alone like your father was you'll have your mother, father,Luca, Ash, Koba, me, Sparrow and all your friends to help out if you need it but when you are ready I'm sure you'll know I asked your father this same question he say to me that when you ready it's like everything comes into focus and it all just clicks together that's how he knew he was ready when you came along"
Blue Eyes let what Rocket had told him sink in but still in the back of his mind although he hoped Koba would be on board he knew deep down he probably wouldn't but on the other hand if Koba truly cared for him and loved him like family wouldn't he also care for & love any child he'd have whether it be with a human if he could or an ape? Blue Eyes suddenly realised he hadn't asked why Rocket was up so late but for now he'd hold off on that question he wanted to be done with this topic first.
"For what it's worth I think you and the human female would be good parents I see how she is when she with you and I see how you are when you with her she make you happy?"
Blue Eyes nodded and Rocket noticed the ghost of a smile forming on the young chimps features but it didn't last long before his pensive face returned
"You make her happy?" Again Blue Eyes nodded although seemed a little unsure taking a deep sigh once again looking towards the night sky "Then nothing else matters you are both young have lots of time to think about things but if you really want to be together then maybe think talk with your mother and father"
Blue Eyes frowned he'd already spoke to his father and it had not gone well but maybe if he spoke with his mother she'd be able to get his father to see things from Blue Eyes' point of view was always worth trying he knew he wasn't ready to give up on things with Angel just yet he also knew he was getting ahead of himself just because he was perhaps ready didn't mean Angel was or that she'd even want to have a family with him.
Blue Eyes turned and nodded to Rocket his smile returning which in turn Rocket also smiled while giving a nod before the two returned to sitting in silence watching the fire starting to die
Blue Eyes gave a small grunt which seemed to pull Rocket out from his far off thoughts the older ape looked over to Blue Eyes who signed "Why are you up so late?"
Rocket just shrugged "Couldn't sleep besides like this time of night if I can't sleep I like to sit and watch the stars"
Blue Eyes nodded Angel also had a fondness for star watching what was it she called it astronomy. Blue Eyes thought that humans had a lot of strange habits and were somewhat odd but for the most part seem to be quite a lot of fun too Angel could always make him smile even if he was in the worse mood she'd always cheer him up it was one of the things he liked most about her other than he being fearless brave and loyal Angel was loyal to a fault but he respected that quality in her he knew she would never do anything to bring harm to any ape he just wished he could make some of the other apes see that too.
Rocket moved over to sit down next to Blue Eyes and patted his young nephew on the shoulder
"Should listen to your heart as well as your head it'll all come right in the end"
Blue Eyes gave a wake smile and a nod as he watched Rocket making his way to his hut but still he couldn't get the conversation he'd had with Caser out of his mind how could his father be that close minded
*Flash back to earlier that day*
Caser sat on the bolder in the centre of the village overlooking everyone as they ate it had been a long but fruitful day many were tired himself include Caser saw Blue Eyes making his way over to him with a bowl of food Caser smiled warmly at his son as Blue Eyes came to a stop just next to him
"Father need to ask you something" Caser looked to his son wondering what was on his mind Blue Eyes took a deep breath *Well it's now or never* the young chimp thought "Want to talk about Angel…"
Caser raised his brows he had a feeling he'd end up having a conversation like this with his son sooner or later but waited to see what his son wanted to say
"Thinking want to have a family… ready now found good and strong female she make me happy we are good together…" Caser remained quiet waiting for Blue Eyes to finish "Even take Angel to be mine officially can be pair bonded father you say I should find mate so I found one…."
Caser thought long and hard before answering his son he knew Angel & Blue Eyes had become very close it a very short amount of time and although he himself was very fond of the human he wasn't sure she'd make a good mate for his son.
"Son…." Blue Eyes could already tell he wasn't going to like what his father was going to say but listened intently "Angel is good… brings a lot of good things to us she is strong and I know you like her…you care for her but son….she is not ape and you are can never work"
Blue Eyes scowled at his father "YOU say to me to look after her teach her now you say she's no good?!"
"Didn't say she was no good said she needs to be with other human….not with ape you need to be with ape there are plenty of young female apes who will give you strong children I know you think Angel is the only one for you but son…."
"You are wrong father!… I love her do not want anyone else"
Caser sighed he knew Angel also felt for his son as what Blue Eyes felt for her but he also knew he couldn't allow Blue Eyes to father a child with the human no matter how they felt for one another ape should be with ape and human should be with human there was no way of getting around that fact it just wouldn't work it couldn't or at least Caser hoped it wouldn't be possible that aside he still wasn't happy the two were clearly mating his son was growing up he knew that he also knew his son was at the age where he needed to start looking for someone to settle down with but he just couldn't allow his son to settle with a human no matter how good she was things in the village were strained enough without having something like this looking his son in the eye Caser shook his head
"I am sorry son… But if you want a family then it must be with ape I know it seems like you don't want anyone else but you'll see in time that'll change"
Blue Eyes couldn't believe what he was hearing his father had always said that apes should set aside the differences with humans and see them for what they could become as appose to what they were and now his father was telling him something completely different
"Did time change how you felt about mother?!" Blue Eyes signed before leaving without getting an answer Caser sighed sadly before looking first over to Cornella and then to Angel where Blue Eyes was headed
*End flash back*
Blue Eyes shook off the feeling he couldn't understand why his father would think Angel wouldn't be a good mate for him they were Pratley already mates although it was unofficial they ate slept hunted & spent time together much like any other couple in the village why should his relationship be any different to anyone else's Blue Eyes watched as the fire died sending the last few ambers towards the heavens standing Blue Eyes made his way back to his hut only to be pinned in the doorway by Bright Eyes letting out a small grunt & frowning slightly at the now ever growing large cat he made his way back over to the makeshift bed he now shared more often than not with Angel smiling to himself he looked down to be able to just about make out the outline of her body he slipped behind her pulling her close to him while still trying not to wake her Angel let out a small grown and stirred a little Blue Eyes tucked his head & chin into the crock of Angel's neck and at long last sleep & Blue Eyes found one another.
*The next day late morning*
Blue Eyes woke to what sounded like screaming coming from somewhere in the centre of the clonally frowning without opening his eyes he went to pull Angel closer to him in hopes to drown out the noise only to find she wasn't next to him suddenly Blue Eyes sat bolt upright looked around the hut even in the dim light he could see he was alone Bright Eyes must also be with Angel Blue Eyes hurriedly made his way out to see what was going on
"Blue Eyes! Over here!" Ash called to him Blue Eyes was still baffled as to what was going on as all he could see was a large group of apes forming a large circle around something all hooting and screaming
"What's going on?" Blue Eyes signed once he reached his friend seeing Ash struggling to hold Bright Eyes back "Where's Angel?!" Blue Eyes was starting to get a bit worried looking around he couldn't see her before turning back to see Ash pointing
"Down there…. With Chaser….fighting"
Fighting?! What was Angel doing fighting with anyone let alone an ape Chaser's size?! She must be mad
"Why no one come to get me or stop this?! Where's my father or yours?! Where is my mother or Koba?"
Ash shrugged still holding onto Bright Eyes followed Ash followed Blue Eyes as they made their way through the other apes Blue Eyes suddenly stopped causing Ash to bump into the back of him although she seemed to have a cut to the top of her left eye & a split lip Angel still had Chaser pinned to the ground with the large male up looking back up at her furiously trying to free himself when Angel was sure she'd made her point she let the ape up the two stood facing one another again before Chaser wisely backed away leaving Angel to let out a sigh of relief the other apes soon went off leaving Ash standing there with Bright Eyes and a just as baffled Blue Eyes. Angel looked over to the two apes and the large cat that was now lying by their feet Blue Eyes made his way over to her checking out her wounds closely before signing to her
"What happened?!" frowning Blue Eyes kept his gaze firmly fixed on Angel before looking over to see if he could see Chaser who was sitting close to a few other apes glaring at Angel
"He wouldn't stop pushing me so I had enough" Angel sated simply causing Blue Eyes to frown again and turn to Ash
"Where were you?!" but before Ash could answer Angel stepped up "Don't blame Ash he had nothing to do with it other than to hold Bright Eyes. Chaser has been following me around all morning throwing pebbles and stones at me ever since Caser Rocket Koba & Luca left to go do something when I told him to quit it he wouldn't so I started doing it back to him then he started to push me so in the end I just let him have it and I guess here's where we are"
Angel finished trying to find something to get the blood off her face. Blue Eyes moved her over to the watering hole with Ash & Bright Eyes close behind sitting her down Blue Eyes picked up a bowl & scooped up some water using a make shift wash cloth starting to wipe away the blood above Angel's eye & around her lip
"Shouldn't fight with Chaser could hurt you worse than this" Blue Eyes spoke up after a few moments although he was proud she'd not only stood up for herself but even won the fight against an ape that was twice her size & strength
"Why cos I'm a girl?! Or cos I'm human" Angel didn't mean for it to sound so hostile but was a little annoyed she felt the need to defend her actions even from Blue Eyes
Blue Eyes looked her in the eye but said nothing continuing to clean up her face thankfully it wasn't as bad as it had first seemed
"Not because you female or human but because we don't want you getting hurt" Ash spoke Angel looked away rolling her eyes witch caused Blue Eyes to smirk a little he knew how much she hated being babied and how much she wanted to prove herself to the other apes but he also knew her fighting wasn't going to help her
"Just saying be more careful" Blue Eyes spoke while he brought her face back to his giving her a gentle kiss on the side of her head
Angel Blushed a little but just smiled & nodded
