As Danni awakes, she discovers she, Jacen, Ben, and the Falcon come crashing downward. Though none of them realize it at the time, Nen Yim used her cryokinetic powers to knock the Falcon out of the sky as it flew over Nar Shaddaa.
Ben. Not lubed.
Jacen, using the Force to levitate, tries to aid his allies.
Jacen. Danni. Level out. Extend your arms and legs.
As Danni does as he asks, Jacen wraps his arms around her, slowly her fall.
Danni. We have to get Ben.
Jacen. It's going to get rough. Hold on.
Jacen swerves downward and catches Ben, who struggles and curses.
Stop fighting. It's me.
Ben. My dragon . . . You've got to save the Falcon.
Before any decision can be made, an explosion reveals that the Falcon has already crashed. Ben cries out.
Falcon.
As Jacen guides Danni and Ben through the air, he begins to strain from the effort.
Jacen. I can't . . .
Jacen, Danni, and Ben drop downward, crashing into an old warehouse on Nar Shaddaa. As they crash, Danni's ankle has broken. Jacen has fallen on top of Ben.
Danni? Where's Danni?
Ben. O! That's my back, not a seat. Danni? Where did you go?
Danni. Here.
Jacen and Ben rush to her side.
Ben. Are you . . . ? [notices the injury] You're not.
Danni. [sarcastic] Thanks for the reassurance.
Jacen. You'll be fine. [to Ben] Ben, you got any first aid supplies?
Ben. Yeah . . . yeah, sure.
Reaching into his utility belt, Ben takes out a medkit.
Danni. How did you . . . how did pull that stuff from an empty belt?
Ben. The Force. I haven't figure it out completely. But I can summon just about any regular tool out of the pockets, plus some other helpful stuff.
Ben takes out a couple mints.
Breath mint?
Jacen takes away the mints.
Jacen. That's great, Ben. Now can you fix her foot?
Ben. I'm a mechanic, man. Maybe if she was a speeder . . . Wait, what was that godly healing stuff, they fed you at the Praxeum?
Danni. Bota. There should be some in my bag if it's not crushed.
Jacen takes out the bag of bota Danni's siblings gave her. Breaking off a piece, he feeds it to her. Through the bota, the pain in Danni's foot subsides.
More.
Jacen. [frowns] Danni. We shouldn't risk it. They said too much could burn you up. I think I should try to set your foot.
Danni. Have you ever done that before?
Jacen. Yes . . . I think so.
Ben creates a splint, then gets the slickplast and gauze ready as Jacen prepares to set the wound.
Hold her leg still. Danni, this is going to hurt.
As Jacen sets her foot, Danni flinches and punches Ben in the arm. After it is over, Danni's foot is wrapped in slickplast and gauze.
Danni. O!
Ben. Stang, princess. I'm glad my face wasn't there.
Danni. Sorry. And don't call me princess or I'll punch you again.
Jacen. You both did great.
Jacen hands Danni a canteen of water. She drinks.
Danni. What happened to the Falcon? Where are we?
Ben. I don't know with the Falcon. She just jerked sideways like she hit an invisible wall and started to fall. As far as where we are . . .
Ben indicates a logo on the warehouse: Domain Kwaad.
Abandoned droid factory. I'm guessing we crash-landed on Nar Shaddaa.
Danni. How far is that from Alsakan?
Jacen. Maybe three-fourths of the way from Csilla? The thing is, without the Falcon, we're stuck traveling overland.
Ben. No way. It isn't safe.
Danni. He's right. Besides, I don't know if I can walk. And three beings . . . Jacen, you can't fly that many across galaxy by yourself.
Jacen. No way. Ben, are you sure the Falcon didn't malfunction? I mean, the droid is old, and . . .
Ben. And I might not have repaired him right?
Jacen. I didn't say that. It's just . . . maybe you could fix it.
Ben. I don't know. I'd have to find where he landed if he's even in one piece.
Danni. It was my fault.
Jacen. Danni. You were asleep when the Falcon crashed. It couldn't be your fault.
Ben. Yeah, you're just shaken up. You're in pain. Just rest.
Danni. [aside] How can I say the truth now? They're being so kind to me. Yet if Onimi is watching us somehow, saying the wrong thing could get my father killed.
Ben. Look, er, Jacen, why don't you stay with her? I'll scout around for the Falcon. I think she fell outside the warehouse somewhere. If I can find her, maybe I can figure out what happened and fix her.
Jacen. It's too dangerous. You shouldn't go by yourself.
Ben. Ah, I got slickplast and mints. I'll be fine. You guys just don't run off without me.
Ben removes a glowrod from his belt and exits.
Jacen. [smiles] You look better.
Danni. You did a good job. Where did you learn first aid?
Jacen. [shrugs] Same answer as always. I don't know.
Danni. But you're starting to have some memories, aren't you? Like that prophecy in Mando'a back at the Praxeum or that dream about the Fosh.
Jacen. It's fuzzy. Like déjà vu. Ever forgotten a word or a name, and you know it should be on the tip of your tongue, but it isn't? It's like that, only with my whole life.
Danni. That holograph in your pocket . . . Is that someone from your past?
Jacen backs up.
I'm sorry. None of my business. Forget it.
Jacen. No, it's okay. It's just . . . I'm trying to figure things out. Her name's Jaina. She's my sister.
Danni smiles.
I don't remember any details. I'm not even sure how I know, but . . . er, why are you smiling?
Danni. Nothing. Er, it's just . . . that's great you remembered. Mara told me she became a Witch of Dathomir, right?
Jacen. [nods] I get the feeling I'm supposed to find her. Shira left me that memory for a reason. It's got something to do with this quest. But . . . I also have the feeling it could be dangerous. I'm not sure I want to find out the truth. Is that barvy?
Danni. No. Not at all. [sighs] Jacen. Speaking of the truth, I need to tell you something . . . something about my father . . .
A metal clattering distracts them.
Jacen leaps to his feet and activates his lightsaber.
Jacen. Ben?
There is no reply.
I don't like this.
Danni. He could be in trouble. Go check.
Jacen. I can't leave you alone.
Danni draws her vibroblade.
Danni. I'll be fine. Anyone gets close, I'll skewer them.
Jacen. [hesitates] I'll leave you the pack. If I'm not back in five minutes . . .
Danni. Panic?
Jacen. Glad you're back to normal. The makeup and the dress were a lot more intimidating than the vibroblade.
Danni. Get going, Solo, before I skewer you.
Exit Jacen.
After Jacen has been gone a while, Danni senses a disturbance in the Force. Desperate, Danni consumes more bota, fixing her ankle. Then taking her vibroblade she cuts through the bandage and rises to her feet.
Raising her vibroblade, Danni approaches the door.
Jacen?
Krayn's Voice. [imitates Jacen] Yeah. On my way up.
Danni. Definitely Jacen's voice. So why did all her instincts say, "Run."
As Krayn's footsteps grow closer, Danni tries to back away.
Krayn's Voice. [imitates Jacen] It's okay.
Enter Krayn, a towering blue-skinned T'surr male with blue hair and four red eyes.
It's fine. You're just in time for dinner.
Krayn advances on Danni.
Exit all.
