Thunderclan's trespassing had not stopped! At least once a day for the past half-moon there's been a report of trespassing on our land! I could only wonder what they were doing!
"At least the border hasn't been moved." Birchstorm mewed one day
"Still! They're coming on our territory!" I replied
"It is wrong still." Birchstorm growled
I slipped into the nursery and Birchstorm joined me. I smiled at my kits, who were pestering Nightfoot and her three kits.
"They're cute.." Flintkit told her
"Thank you Flintkit." The black queen replied
"When can they play?" Willowkit asked
"In another moon. They're small now Willowkit."
Willowkit sighed and scampered out of the nursery. Flintkit sat next to her and purred watching the little kits.
I was proud of my son. He definetly was like Birchstorm. Not one to fight all the time, but would happily do it to defend his clan. I thought he'd be perfect for a medicine cat, but he fought so well and seemed to like it. Also, Treeclaw had his apprentice.
"What're their names again?" He asked
"The little black she-cat with the hints of dark blue is Darkkit. The brown tom is Nutkit and the little spotted one is Spottedkit." She answered
"They're beautiful." Flintkit said
I left the nursery and found Willowkit leaping onto Rainheart.
"Hah! Willowclaw strikes again!" She exclaimed
"No! Not the great Shadowclan deputy!" Rainheart cried
He fell to the ground as she batted at his belly and gently nipped his ears. She was so feisty and strong. No doubt she was a warrior. She called her name again as she jumped off the silver tom and ran off. I padded over and smiled,
"Mighty warrior.." I mewed
"That she will be." He told me
I had no doubt in my mind. My kits were safe for now and would soon become perfect warriors in due time. I would be proud of them and they'd know it. I could tell Rainheart was proud as well. Just how he looked when he saw them. I was relaxed for once. No worries now, for I knew Shadowclan would keep them safe from harm.
...
Night came and I rustled my kits back into the nursery. A few birds whistled as they headed to bed, the shadows of pine trees stretched across camp from the pale light of the half-moon. Brindlepaw and Treeclaw's 'quiet' mews as the padded out of the camp. Rainheart walked next to me as I entered the nursery. Willowkit was unusually quiet for once and Flintkit was already asleep. I laid on the clean bedding and purred. Willowkit was trying to stay up, for her eyes flung open every few heartbeats.
"I'm..I'm..not" She began, only to be interrupted by a yawn. Her head fell and in another few heartbeats, she was asleep.
"A fighter isn't she?"
"Yup, just like you Silverpool." Rainheart told me
I purred to him as he dragged his tail on my back. He nuzzled my flank and meowed a good night. He walked out of the den without another word. I stretched my jaws in a yawn and my head bobbed toward the ground. I sighed once and let my head fall onto the soft pine needles. Soon, I too was asleep. I awoke in a beautiful area with large trees and the scent of Shadowclan clung to the air. The day was beautiful, but I felt oddly scared. I heard in the distance a distressed yowl,
"Help! Help!"
I began running toward the sound. It sounded faintly familiar. My heart thudding in my chest as the yowls grew louder and louder.
"Say goodbye!"
I jumped awake, my heart thudding from the fear I felt in the dream. It felt so real and the screams sounded very familiar. The voice however, sounded terrible! No..it wasn't deep and dark, just evil. As though they were getting revenge...I shifted in my spot and something felt odd. The bedding was fine, my belly was full. I sniffed the air and I froze.
"Willowkit? Flintkit?" I asked
No response. I jumped up and yowled their names, waking Nightfoot in the process.
"What happened?" She asked
"My kits! I..I can't find them!" I shouted
I ran out the nursery and sniffed the air. Their scent was mingled with someone else's. They were together though, at least for as far I could smell them.
"Rosestar! Rosestar!" I called
In moments, the tortoiseshell she cat was there, her fur ruffled from sleep. I knew my pelt was messy too, but I could care less! What if they were hurt? Or...or drowned by the lake? They're to young!
"It's okay Silverpool, they're-" Rosestar began
"No! It's not okay! What if they're dead! They're to young to leave camp!" I shouted
"When did you last-"
"Don't start with all the questions! Send a patrol to find them! I'm coming with them!" I yowled in her face.
The she-cat looked stunned, her blue eyes wide with shock. However, her fur was not fluffing out. I didn't know why she wasn't angry about this!
"Well?" I asked
"There will be a patrol sent now. You may go. I want you to go with Birchstorm, Rainheart, and Pebblespot. He's the best tracker here." She told me
"We're going now!" I announced
"Silverpool..."
It was Birchstorm's voice. I turned around and he was padding up to me with Pebblespot and Rainheart.
"Let's go now. I'll go with Silverpool and check toward Thunderclan. Rainheart and Pebblespot go toward Riverclan." Birchstorm said in a stern voice
No one objected. I followed him toward the entrance and we left.
"Come on, the scent goes this way and it's fresh." He mewed
It was toward Thunderclan. We began to follow.
"Willowkit! Flintkit!" I called
As I expected, no response. Where could my poor kits be? Then..something occurred to me. Flintkit would never do this, he'd know better! Even Willowkit knew not to go at night.
"Treeclaw, who's that?"
Brindlepaw! Treeclaw! Maybe they know where they went!
"Hey!" I shouted
I noticed the two silouhettes appear and the smaller of the two bounded toward me.
"Silverpool? Why are you out now?" Brindlepaw asked
"My kits! My kits are missing!" I said loudly
"Brindlecloud! What's wrong?" Treeclaw asked as he came into sight
"Her kits Treeclaw."
The were already heading back toward camp and I was sniffing the air. Birchstorm was frozen and he muttered something I couldn't hear.
"Silverpool! Wait!" He called
"What?" I snapped
"I know what happened to them."
I froze and ran back to him. I stared him right in the eye, waiting for an answer.
"They took them..."
He didn't even need to say their names. I could picture them easily. The two toms coming in and taking away the two little fur bundles. It was them...Whitefur and Tigerfoot.
