At Rollins Asylum, police were doing a cell check, when they came across an empty cell.
"Oh no, not him, he's escaped" said one of the officers.
==The Next Night==
Ryder was on the rooftops, he was fighting with Ripjaw on the roof the courthouse.
"You're finished Damien" said Ryder
Ripjaw charged towards Ryder, but Ryder dropped a smoke pellet and quickly hid, Ripjaw couldn't see Ryder, when Ripjaw's back was turned, Ryder jumped out with his stun stick and shocked Ripjaw, before using a Ryder Boomerang to knock him out. Ryder placed a pair of handcuffs on Ripjaw.
"Angelo, I've apprehended Ripjaw, he's going back to prison" said Ryder
Ryder descended down the building before reaching an alleyway where he left the Ryder Cycle, he heard a phone ringing, he looked to see a ringing payphone with a piece of paper taped to it that read 'Answer Ryder'. Ryder picked up the payphone.
"Hello?" asked Ryder
"Hello Ryder..." said the person on the other end
The man's voice was calm and soothing, yet at the same time, his voice was scary and unsettling. Ryder knew exactly who was calling him.
"...Do you recognize my voice?" asked the man
"Vance Roland!" said Ryder
"In the flesh, I'm touched that you remember me, Ryder, I'll never forget you" said Vance
"What do you want?" asked Ryder
"I want to play a game, a game I made just for you, and it all goes down tomorrow night, ring, ring!" said Vance
Vance hung up.
==The Next Morning==
David was in the Lab, he was at the computer trying to find any reports on Vance Roland, Angelo entered.
"Sir, you seem a bit tense, are you alright?" asked Angelo
"No, you haven't read the paper yet, have you?" asked David
"Not yet sir, I haven't been able to get it for about a week, last time I read the paper was just after you arrested that Sniper fellow" said Angelo
David shows Angelo an online report about Vance.
TERROR IN AMBROSE CITY
Fear spreads throughout the city as convicted Serial Killer, Vance Arthur Richard Roland,
escaped from Rollins Asylum. So far, no people have been confirmed to have been murdered,
however, a missing person's report has been filed for Stephanie Kane, a Chemist at Ambrose
City Pharmaceuticals.
Police recommend that people lock their doors the second they return home to try to make
sure Roland doesn't intrude.
"Dear me, Vance Roland, that psychopathic murderer, has escaped?" asked Angelo
"Yeah, and he's after Red Ryder" said David
==One Week Later==
Vance still hadn't been found by the police after his escape, however, 2 more missing person reports had been filed, one for a Mrs Louise Hale and one for Mrs Amanda Pounder. Ryder was scouting the city, he hadn't heard back from Vance about that 'game' he mentioned. Ryder watched over the city when he heard a nearby payphone ringing. Ryder quickly answered the payphone.
"Speak!" said Ryder, a little forcefully
"Whoa, you sound impatient, Ryder, that's good, that's good, you'll need that to win the game, as you know, I like to save the mindless drones who are lucky enough to answer my calls..." said Vance
"Hardly 'save', you kill them" said Ryder
"That's a matter of perspective, Ryder, like, from my perspective, I can see 3 little Piggies desperately in need of a saviour, but from THEIR perspective, I think they may see things a bit...differently" said Vance
"If you harm them, I will hunt you down" said Ryder
"Oh, I'm sure of it, but first, a little game, right now, somewhere in Ambrose City, there is a phone ringing away, now, I know that it's a big place, but I'm sure that a brilliant mind such as yours can find it" said Vance
"And what if I don't?" asked Ryder
"That's simple, if you take your time with what you do...then it only makes sense that I take MY time with what I do, do you understand? Oh, and don't try anything funny, I had a friend bounce the signal from every relay from here to Carson City, you'll never find me, now...hang up that phone you're holding and start running. Ring, ring, ring, ring!" said Vance
Ryder hung up, he activated a virtual map function on his Gauntlets, he knew where to find the ringing payphone, he rushed to the destination and picked up the ringing phone in time. While Vance talked, Ryder tried tracing the phone call.
"Ah, you made it. I should congratulate you Ryder, but the game has just started, for now, the Piggies live, but sooner or later, you'll slip up, and when that happens, one of them dies" said Vance
"You could have done something productive with your life, Roland, what would your parents say if they saw you?" asked Ryder
"Like I care what they think about me anymore, they're gone, they aren't coming back, I've moved on, speaking of moving on, I'll speak to you later, Ryder, but I'll call you back soon enough" said Vance
Vance hung up, Ryder checked the call tracer he used, he had only traced 19% of the call, he needed to wait for Vance to call again.
==The Next Morning==
David was in his study, he couldn't concentrate properly due to Roland's Escape.
"Where are you Roland? Wherever you are, I'll find you" said David
Angelo entered.
"Sir, have you deduced Roland's location yet?" asked Angelo
"No, I was only able to get a 19% trace, luckily, if Roland stays in the same building each time he calls, then the tracer won't reset" said David
==That Night==
Ryder stood atop the Ambrose City Museum, he activated his virtual map, checking for a ringing payphone, nothing.
"Come on Roland, dial a phone" said Ryder
A beacon appeared on the map, a payphone was ringing, Ryder rushed to the location of the phone and quickly answered.
"Find my Phone Ryder, and find it quick" said Roland
Ryder activated his map again, a beacon appeared not too far from his current location, Ryder grappled to the top of a building and glided down to the location of the ringing payphone, he answered it.
"Ah, Ryder, you've made it, again, you're doing well, but you still have a long way to go, you wish you could save them, Ryder, but you can't, you can only hope" said Roland
Vance hung up. Ryder checked the tracer, 32%, he hopped on his Ryder Cycle and rode off, on the way back, his gauntlet beeped, Ryder checked the virtual map, another payphone was ringing. Ryder turned around and rode to the location of the phone, before answering it.
"I see you're ready for another round in this little game already, fine by me, ring, ring!" said Vance
Vance hung up, Ryder checked the map, there was a payphone ringing near the docks. Ryder took the cycle and rode to the docks, he was able to answer the phone in time.
"I don't know how you keep finding the phones, Ryder, in truth, I'm hoping you fail, I know the stakes have been higher for you before Ryder, I know the type of men you've fought since you donned the mask and the gadgets, including the one you used to nearly blind me, I'm still shocked you saved my life that day, imagine what you would be doing right now if you let me fall" said Vance
Vance hung up, Ryder went home.
