Chapter 25
Kagome hugged her knees together, a futile attempt to bring heat back to her body. She was surrounded by darkness, gritting her teeth against the bitter cold.
A low maniacal laugh echoed through the empty void "What's wrong?"
"Go to hell" she snapped
"My, my what language. I doubt your beloved half breed would approve."
Kagome tighten her fist until her nails pinched her palms, she was so cold and her face hurt from the sting of tried tears. Even so whenever she felt him invade her mind she refused to give him the pleasure of seeing her break.
The only thing keeping her sanity was the warmth surrounding the junction of her neck. She closed her eyes seeking comfort in the memory of the bitter sweet feel of Inuyasha's fangs breaking her skin.
She would try again in a few days, whenever that was. When her body would respond again, no matter how hard he tried to to distract her. To kill her hope.
She hadn't been able to even see images of her friends since the death of Kikyo, when he settled himself here. Next to her.
"I could free you from here, set you free. All I need-"
"Don't you get tired of talking? I know I'm sick of hearing it; Naraku."
She looked up to see the first clear thing since she was trapped there, a bright white bamboo cloak. His face covered as always with a damn grin on his face.
"Heh, I knew you'd respond that way. Which is why I came here with some news, it seems your friends are hunting me down. No doubt they think with you out of their way they'll succeed in defeating me."
Kagome flinched "If they do, so what? I'm not seeing the downside."
"You fool yourself Kagome, they might not know what lies ahead but you know. They kill me and your soul will be lost forever. You can prevent that, give in to me and I will assure you a safe release. That's one option or you can live out the rest of your days in darkness, unsure if you're alive or dead."
Kagome narrowed her eyes, she felt fear tug at her hearts strings. The vast emptiness cracked at her sanity, testing her morality.
"Well?"
Kagome scowled at him "I'll say it again Naraku. Go. To. Hell."
His grin faded "Shame, I was sure you'd be smart enough to take a good deal when presented with one. I'd make myself comfortable if I were you, you'll be here a while."
His laugh rang loudly in her ears as his body faded into the shadows.
"WAIT. NO! Damn it don't leave me here, I- I can't handle it!" A loud sob escaped her throat as tears ran down her face. Kagome began to rock back and forth, her hand grasping at her neck in desperate need of comfort away from the bitter cold and darkness. "INUYASHA!"

Inuyasha's ears shot up, his eyes widened.
"What is it Inuyasha?" Shippo asked from his perch on his shoulder.
Inuyasha rushed forward and spun Mari around "WOAH, down boy. I might look like your mate but I'm the furthest thing from."
"Shut up, did you just say my name?!" he question, his eyes scanning her face.
"Think about what you just asked, how can I shut up and at the same time say your name? Tell you what you decided what you want then get back to me." Mari rolled her eyes and walked away.
Inuyasha starred after her until Shippo smacked his head "You better not fall for her, I want my Mom back!"
"Don't say stupid things, Shippo. I heard Kagome call my name, Our Kagome."
Shippo blinked a couple times "What do you mean?"
"How else do you want me to say it?! I heard Kagome, Damn it. Her voice, I'd regonise it anywhere."
Mari stole a glance behind her, her hand coming up to clutch her heart. More or less Kagome's heart, it's beating was dangerously low. She couldn't feel but if she had to guess she'd say her body was well below normal temperature.
'We have to hurry, she won't last long..'
I know I'm back! I just bought another computer since my last one was broken beyond repair. What's the first thing I did, get the heck on here to update this thing. Also, I re-read my story and noticed that WOW I have a Ton of things I need to correct. So I'll end up doing that which gives you guys the chance to go back and you know find more errors for me to correct. I just hope I didn't lose any readers with how long I was gone.
