Talia and Mateo peaked in Jade's room and found her in her pajamas in bed, Jacob laying behind her with his arm draped over her side, holding her tight. His big body dwarfed her, as she sighed in her sleep. Jacob looked like he was in a coma.
" Poor kids are exhausted. I don't think he'll ever let anything happen to her again. He loves her too much," said Talia softly while Mateo pondered the scene before them.
"Come honey, we need to rest too, now that she's safe."
Mateo slept for a few hours but couldn't sleep any longer. He went to Jade's room, and saw that she was still in her bed, sleeping peacefully. He walked over to her bed, kissed her forehead, and smoothed her hair.
He wondered where Jacob had gone, but found his answer when we walked downstairs and saw him sitting at the dining room table
"Couldn't sleep either huh?" He asked, sitting in the chair next to Jacob.
"Nope. Too much on my mind."
"So it was another wolf that took her."
Jacob met Mateo's gaze.
"Yes. That asshole took her even though she's my imprint. So much for honor among wolves," Jacob gritted.
"How do you know this won't happen again? While the pack be on extra patrols?"
"Yes. And I'll guard her with my life. All of us will. Its the packs duty to protect one of it's own as well as the community. . I'll do whatever it takes."
Mateo held his gaze, and could see the anger in Jacob's obsidian eyes.
"I need to know...was she," Mateo swallowed. "Did He..." Mateo shook his head, taking a deep breath.
"No."
"How do you know, did she say anything? Because we need to take her to the hospital-"
"He didn't. But he did hit her, and he choked her. I could see the marks on her neck and face."
Mateo's breath shook as he squeezed his hands together.
"How did you find her?"
"I was headed to Canada, but I felt my connection to her, so turned around. I followed it until I smelled her scent. She tried to escape once, but he caught her, but she dropped her bracelet in the woods to be found. I smelled the bracelet then followed her scent and found her on the coast. She had escaped again. I found her completely alone, terrified, but she was so brave. So brave."
Mateo nodded.
"That's my girl," He said smiling.
"Jacob...thank you for bringing her home. I have no doubt that you'll do all you can to protect her."
" Not only will I protect her, but I'm going to kill the black wolf," said Jacob meeting Mateo's eyes. They stared at each other in silence for a moment. Mateo felt a slight chill at the coldness in Jacob's eyes, but he couldn't help but to share his sentiment.
"Alright son. Alright. You should get some rest now. In case Jade needs you tomorrow," he said patting Jacob's shoulder.
"Good night.."
(The next morning)
"Talia? Mateo? I brought over some food for you guys, I thought you might want to eat someth-," Talet stopped in her tracks as she saw Talia and Mateo sitting at the kitchen island.
"Oh, so you guys ate breakfast already? How are you,, do you need anything? I just came to check on you and see if...wait, why are you smiling?"
"Jade is upstairs."
"Wait...what? They found her! When?!"
" Jacob found her. He brought her back early this morning. We called Manek and let him, know and couldn't reach you. Besides, we wanted to tell you in person."
Talet stood there in shock.
"So someone did take her?"
"The bastard's name is Elias. Police are looking for him now, " said Mateo.
"Oh wow. How's she doing?"
Talia smiled, taking Talet's arm and pulling into the living room. Mateo had many calls to make so she thought they should talk else where.
They sat down on the couch.
She went over the details with Talet as she stared, mouth agape.
"That is crazy. Did he...was she,..." asked Talet.
"No, he didn't rape her, thank God. But who knows, it may have happened if she hadn't escaped."
"So Jacob found her after that right, and when he brought her home he carried her as a wolf?"
Talia nodded.
"So that's why he was naked when he walked in?"
" Well, they can't wear clothes when they phase, so..."
"Wow, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the legends being real?! "said Talet
"And you are sworn to secrecy!"
"Well, of course! Besides, all Quileutes know the legends! Even if some aren't sure if they are real. I for one am relieved after seeing that creepy Cullen family. I'm just so glad she's home safe!" The Two woman hugged each other, tears in their eyes.
Footsteps approached, as Jacob walked in, barefoot and shirtless.
Talia and Talet stopped talking and stared at him.
" Hi Mrs Pitomac, or should I say Mrs. Pitomacs. Do you mind if I make something to eat? "
"Help yourself. There's chili already cooked on the stove."
"Ok, thanks," he said, turning to leave.
"Jacob?" He stopped and turned around. Talia stood and walked over to him, hugging him tightly.
"Thank you so much for bringing my baby home."
"No problem. I would never stop looking until I found her ."
She smiled up at him. "I know. And for that I'm thankful. I'm thankful that she has you."
"I'm the one that's thankful. She's everything to me," he said as his eyes well up with tears.
Talia stroked his cheek, hugging him again.
"It's OK. She's OK thanks to you. Now go eat, you must be starving mijo."
He nodded, and turned to the kitchen.
"That's Jacob Black? When did that boy get so...grown? And hot!?"
" Talet, shhh! He might hear you!"
" Wow! He's huge. And there's muscles everywhere! I haven't seen him in almost a year. He slept in the bed with Jade?" Talet said raising her eyebrows.
"Come on Talet! Sex is the last thing on their minds right now. We almost lost her..." Talia put her hand over her face, crying softly.
"Oh noo. Don't cry Talia! I'm sorry, you're right! I'm so sorry.." Talet hugged her again.
"I'm so thankful I have my little girl back, to have my family whole again. These last two days have been hell. I'm just so glad Jacob found her before that psycho."
"Me too girl, me too. Even if he is eye candy."
The Two women burst out laughing.
