Epilogue: Rise of Dragons

"Come on, darling!" Stella said as she easily pulls her boyfriend nearer to their destination, "Why didn't you let me bring my weapon?" Chrome complained letting himself getting carried, "Because..." Stella said dangerously low, "We're visiting children!" she said in a happy tone, changing completely within five seconds.

The couple was wearing more civil clothes, "Kids." Chrome said thinking, "Now that I thought about it, I have never interacted with one since I was first recruited in the Hunters."

"I guess this benefits us all as well!" Stella happily said, "So let's hurry up!"

"If you want to hurry up, I could just carry you and run." Chrome suggested as he was about to do so until Stella stopped him by holding his arms, "Let's just walk normally." Stella said as she stuck her tongue out playfully, "You sure nobody gonna bust inside the tree house?" Stella asked after a minute passed.

"Pretty sure, our little kitty cat is guarding the place." Chrome said as he looked back seeing Leo standing vigilantly on a cliff where the couple's tree house can be found, "Little to you but not more me, are we gonna have bigger pets?" Stella asked again, "Maybe, maybe not." he answered as they're even closer to the orphanage found outside of the city wall.

"Why is the orphanage outside of the city wall?" Chrome asked, perplex, "Well... financial issues could be the first answer." Stella said memories drifting to her head, "I could make them a wall of their own, easy task enough as it is." Chrome stated, "Let's go ask first."

"Stella." Chrome said very low, "I smell large amount of smoke." he stated as he inhaled deeply and sharply, causing a short but strong vacuum, "Stella! The cities on fire! Let's better hurry and evacuate those kids as quickly as possible!" Chrome held his breathe as he took his girlfriend in her arm, dashing to the orphanage, "Evacuate them to the tree house, call Leo if you need him, I'll help the city." Chrome said dropping off Stella then continued to run as fast as he can to the city, hearing a draconic roar, "What the hell!" Chrome looked up and saw giant lizards with wings flying around the city breathing fire.

"Dragons?!I thought they're extinct!" Chrome stated as he entered the city by jumping high up, "Let's deal with this lizards." he took a burning wooden pole, about 3 meters wide and 10 inch thick, jumping to the roof and waiting for a dragon to swoop down on him, "Let's go, you can't 'scale' against me!" Chrome shouted at the dragon, taunting them as it worked. With a roar a dragon swooped down to Chrome who dodged by jumping on to the back of the ancient lizard, beginning to pummel it to the ground.

"You'll pay for this." a female draconic voice said as one of the dragons fell down due to the beating, "Dearly."

"I'll pay for it now." Chrome said as he calmly stood up and look around on the lizard's back while it falls down, "I'm not the type to have debts." he stated but then notice another dragon flying towards him, its' scales shining as dark as obsidian color, eyes colored in deep red and its snout blazing with flames, trying to get out from its' threshold.

"Crap." Chrome swore as the dragon spewed out streams of fire at him, being frost resistant isn't gonna help him at all, "This is not the payment I have in mind." he said as he was blasted away from the dragon's back he was riding on as he started falling, his upper clothes burnt to cinders, fortunately, his lowers clothes haven't. A large shadow covered his fallen figure, Chrome opened his eyes seeing a dragon in front of him, ready to breathe out fire, "Aagh~!" he screamed in agony as he felt searing hot flames.

"Chrome!" his girlfriend came to the scene as she saw her boyfriend burnt alive as the agonizing screamed continue, when the dragon stopped, there was only ash in its wake, "No, no... No!" Stella started to to burst into tears but held it as anger overwhelmed her, biting her lips hard enough to shed blood but when she was about to run, rubble started to move and Chrome came out of the rubble, burnt patches of skin on his arm, "You're gonna pay." Chrome said as he stomped at the ground jumping up to the head of the beast as he started to wrestle it.

"What's wrong? Human got your tongue?!" Chrome said as he taunts the beast, holding down its' snout with his arm and when he looked to his right, he noticed Stella, "Run! There are more of them, take everybody with you to a safer area!" he warned his girlfriend as she nodded in understanding, "Don't die, darling!"

"I won't!" Chrome answer back with a smile reassuring her, "Now go!" with that being said she ran away out of the battle field, "No where were we?" Chrome asked the beast as it tries to open its snout making Chrome's grip loosen up, then it shut its' snout quickly and whipped its' head up making Chrome fly high up then back down about to land in the dragon's snout, "Not gonna let you!" he said as he stopped the dragon from snapping its snout shut thanks to Chrome holding its lower and upper snout wide open.

"Foolish human." a male draconic voice was heard as Chrome's eyes widen seeing flames erupting out from the dragon's throat, thinking quickly of a way out, he planned a way in, "Here we go!" Chrome jumped in to the dragon's throat making it stop with surprise as Chrome ended up holding something in his right hand, a hot and searing sensation came to felt as it made Chrome shut his eye and grit his teeth, trying to make the sensation feel less painful. Once it was over, he noticed he was in a dark yet damped place, remembering he was in the gut of the beast, he then stood in a combat stance as he inhales deeply closing his eyes in the process, when he opened his eyes he punched the stomach so hard, that it made a man size hole to freedom.

(Imagine this next scene in Chrome's field of view)

"Is it just me, or is the sun brighter?" Chrome looked around seeing the place is in cinders, "Oh boy." He then sighed as he didn't manage to help the place, "Burnt down to the ground, on just a day as well." he then looked as his arms and torso to see no burnt patches of skin, "What the hell, how could I recover that fast?" he then saw a scar on his right hand, an intricate pattern etched on it, as it looks like an inverted triangle from where he was looking at it from.

"Crap! No time to ask, better check on Stella!" Chrome said as he sprinted out of the burnt down city, seeing the cliff and the almost burnt tree house, he rushed even faster, "Don't panic, she will be alright, she's a tough girl." he thought as he reached the cliff, not caring about the house because he knows Stella won't stick in a place near the sky anymore, he was looking for something until he found a giant rock, he moved it and a secret passage leading down has been discovered, "Best be armed."

Chrome flipped a switch causing the redstone lamps to light up, brightening up the room, which to him was the armory, donning his bladed shoulder pad and helmet, placing his hammer on his back thanks to a very strong strip of leather as he flipped the switch again causing the lamps to die out. He's attire really just lets him bare chested thanks to the dragon burning his shirt. Leaving his now temporary but permanently burnt house, he went off to seek his girlfriend again, not gonna stop until he finds her again.

Looking at the sky he sees dragons flying around on the horizon and when a dragon flew over head from him, it flew even faster, "Why in the rush? No humans have developed a ranged weapon against you scaly bastards yet." Chrome said seeing it fly away from him. On the horizon he saw a small outpost and rushes towards it, when he was near he stopped immediately when an arrow almost landed on his foot, "Halt! State your business!" an archer said readying another arrow to his bow, standing on the wall of the outpost, he won't be able to get to him easily.

"Searching for somebody." Chrome answered simply bored, "Any news about dragons?!" the archer asked in the same tone, "Yes, I killed one in a... barbaric fashion." Chrome replied to which the archer hurriedly called for him, "Follow me." Chrome did as he was asked of and followed him down the stairs, leading under the ground, "Clever." Chrome stated as they were even deeper, "The deeper we are, the more safe we can be." the archer replied as he opened the door leading to a room lit by lamps, "You'll have to see the leader." the archer knocked on the door, "Who is it?!" a commanding voice asked, "Someone is here that you need to see, sir!" the archer replied, "Alright! Let him in."

"Stella?" Chrome said as he went in seeing Stella who has her ranger's outfit and had her hands on the table, seemingly having a heated discussion with a man in a knight's outfit, seeing on a chair, "Do I know you?" Stella asked as she doesn't recognize Chrome, "Wait... Chrome? Is that you?!"

"Yes, it's me." Chrome replied, "What happened to your eyes and your hair?!" Stella exclaimed as she got a hand mirror from the table and faced Chrome who no longer have white hair and blue eyes, instead he now have jet black hair and very dark brown eyes, "How the-" Chrome was about to swear when Stella jumped up to him and hugged his head, making squishing him in her 'assets', "All that matters is that you're alive." Stella said giving Chrome a peck on the lips.

"Ahem, since you lovebirds are now acquainted, why are you here, Mr. Chrome?" the knight asked the veteran warrior, "I killed a dragon." Chrome stated the biggest good news the 'leader' have ever heard before, "Wonderful! How did you do it?!"

"It's hard to explain, let me just show it." Chrome said, "Where's your training hall?"

"Follow me, sir!" the knight said as he stood up from his seat and lead the couple through the hallways, Stella clinging on Chrome's arm like her life was dependent on it, "How did you kill the dragon?" Stella whispered to him, "Went inside the gut but I'll just answer him that I have unnatural strength."

"Alright then..." Stella replied, grossed out by the idea that she's hugging her boyfriend's arm, who he was in the belly of a beast, "Take a bath." Stella stated more of a command than a suggestion, "After this." Once they were in the training hall, every soldier in the area looked at Chrome who were intimidated by the size of his weapon, "Show it to us then. Release the beast!"

"The what?!" Chrome and Stella exclaimed at the same time as a cage dropped down from the ceiling, busting it in the process and releasing a baby fire dragon which is the same size as Leo crouched down, the dragon sporadically jumped up and down breathing fire prematurely as it looked for something then its slit eyes landed on Chrome who had his hammer ready, it then screeches as it charges at him, Chrome prepared himself as his concentration rises, not knowing that the skin around his eyes starts to turn into a pattern of diamonds.

"Aagh!" With a battle cry Chrome swung his weapon, "It has begun."
