Sorra's Pov

You wandered into the mountains in the early morning. Inuyasha is following Kouga's scent in hopes of claiming all three jewel shards. You and Shippo follow behind Inuyasha on foot while Miroku and Sango sweep the air on Kirara.

You: "Got anything?"

Inuyasha: "They went through here last night that's for sure."

Inuyasha continues to sniff the ground to follow the scent. You can't help, but think of the comment Miroku made last night. In this position he really did look like a dog.

Shippo: "He's like having a bloodhound."

Inuyasha: "I heard that!"

Miroku and Sango land beside us.

You: "Can you see anything?"

Miroku: "No, but Inuyasha, do you smell anything strange?"

Inuyasha: "I'm not a dog!"

Miroku: "I mean do you sense another demon present?"

You: "Now that you mention it something has been making the air seem rather oppressive to me."

Inuyasha: "I don't sense anything."

Miroku opened his mouth to comment, but was cut off by a sharp bark up the mountain. When you all turn to look up there is a wolf pack charging down the mountain – straight for you. The lead wolfs hit Inuyasha and manage to knock him over the side of the mountain trail before anything could be done.

You: "Inuyasha!"

There are more wolves coming so you have to turn away from Inuyasha and help save your other friends. You draw your blade in anticipation of the attack, but they ignore you completely. They go after Sango and Miroku, but they don't even acknowledge you. You approach from behind hoping to take the advantage, but a large gust of wind comes up the side of the mountain. You turn to try and try to see what it is, but there is a lot of dirt in the air.

You: "What the hell is going on?"

The thing, whatever is, jump towards the sun and like an idiot you try to follow it. Your eyes burn and are temporarily blinded. Sadly, this is plenty of time for your attacker to rip the blade out of your hand. You are suddenly taken away from the ground and thrown over something. With tears still lingering in your eyes you open them to find Kouga cradling your hip in his shoulder.

Kouga: "You bunch of losers can't keep up with my speed."

With that he jumps off of the cliff and you lose sight of your friends.

You: "Miroku! Sango!"

You are falling with a crazy wolf demon down a super steed cliff. You do your best to hang on for right now. You close your eyes and hope that everything will be fine. Luckily you land without incident and he makes it across the river no problem. You know that the shards made demons more powerful, but if it gave you super powers you thought about grab a shard yourself. Quickly he begins to ascend the next mountain over. His jumps made me sick to my stomach because it constantly forced the air out of my lungs. Eventually we reached a flat trail on the other side of the mountain, at that point you do your best to make him let go. You begin with a kick in the back.

Kouga: "Knock it off."

You bring your elbow to his jaw.

Kouga: "What did I just tell you?"

You bring your fist together and try to make gab for his genitals.

Kouga: "Woman, keep this up and I won't bother keeping you around."

You: "My name is Sorra, not woman. Now. Let. Me. GO!"

Kouga: "No chance. I need your skills to-"

A large shadow passes over the two of you and you start feeling a little nervous without Inuyasha there.

You: "What is that?"

Kouga: "They call themselves the Birds of Paradise."

As he said that more began to emerge from over a higher point on the mountain. They were certainly ugly creatures. The top part of the body was somewhat human. They have two eyes, a nose, and a mouth. However, it was the additions of blue skin, horns, and claws that made them grotesque. The lower half is even more bizarre because it consisted of large birds with their own faces. They have big red eyes, lot of sharp teeth, even sharper claws, and wings spans that a small jet could be jealous of.

Kouga: "Do any of them have a jewel shard?"

You: "What?"

Kouga: "Take a good look. Do any of these bird brains have a shard?"

You take a quick scan of the birds, but the only shards you can sense are Kouga's.

You: "No. Nothing."

Kouga: "Alright. Then we are out of here."

He takes off running again leaving the birds far behind along with your friends.

~1 Hour Later~

You have been feeling sore and irritated over the last half hour. This guy had been running nonstop and by now your jeans had practically rubbed your waist raw. When he finally did stop your initial thought was relief that the rubbing had stopped, but also that this was another chance of escape.

?: "Hey, Kouga. Welcome back."

?: "Who's the woman, Kouga?"

You bring your head up to see that both you and your captor are surrounded by a bunch of wolf demons and even more wolves. All thoughts of escape are dashed as you take in the hungry faces of the demon wolf tribe. There was no chance of escape now, unless Inuyasha manages to find me in time. You had been taken to the lion – wolves den. 'Great,' you think, 'I am fucked.' Kouga is still carrying you by the hip and takes you up the side of a particular hill that goes behind a waterfall. Kouga's men follow you and you begin to feel rather nervous. Your fears are increased upon entering the cave where more wolf demons and they are surrounded by hundreds of bones. You painfully recognize a skull with a very human structure. You were so involved with your surroundings you were unprepared for Kouga's careless toss of your body. It sadly reminds you how different and weak you are compared to most demons. However, that just meant that you would have to prove how strong you really could be. Kouga had thrown you on a bed of hay, which you could only assume was his bedding. You wheel around to face him and begin to growl you discontentment. If he thought he could throw you around he had another thing coming.

?: "Is she a demoness, Kouga?"

?: "You moron. Does she smell like a demon to you? She's obviously human."

?: "Then are we going to eat her?"

?: "I want a leg."

Your hand shoots into your jacket in hopes of reaching one of your guns. Before you have a chance to pull it out Kouga's hand covers yours . His grip on your hand begins to tighten.

Kouga: "My wolves warned me about your strange weapons. I'm afraid I can't leave them in your care."

You: "Why? Afraid I'm gonna kick your ass?"

?: "Watch your mouth, girl!"

Kouga's men took steps forward to defend the honor of their leader. You let go of the gun, letting Kouga have it, and fall back into a defensive position. You keep your eyes focused on the threat in front of you. The gun you lost wasn't worth as much as having both hands open to defend yourself. Kouga had been watching be before he spoke up:

Kouga: "Anyone tries to touch her, I'll kill them!"

His men jump back in surprise, which you think might have rivaled your own. He didn't plan on killing you? Maybe he wanted to use you as bait for Inuyasha. It would make a little more sense. He turns away from his men and sticks out his hand at you.

Kouga: "Now the other one."

You keep your eyes one the wolf demon. You glare at him in an attempt to intimidate him. It's futile though because he just breaks out into a cunning smile. You slide your hand down you jacket and found the second pistol. You handed it to him with the barrel pointed at him and he stanched it away before you blow his foot off. He holds the gun by the barrel, thankfully, and examines it.

Kouga: "This thing reeks. I don't know how you can stand using it."

You manage a smirk. Oil and gunpowder. Nice to know that the wolf demon tribe has very sensitive noses. He sees your smirk and his eyes narrow.

Kouga: "I am also aware that you have more weapons on you. Are you going to give them up or are we going to have to search you?"

Your smirk vanishes instantly. He was way too fast you wouldn't be able to land a blow against him. The men behind him chuckle evilly. They weren't interested in a human woman, they already established that. They are trying to intimidate you. This time without meaning to, you started growling again. You handed him the backpack which had managed to stay attached to you while you were taken. The same couldn't be said for the blade, whose sheath on your back was still empty.

Kouga: "That's a good girl."

You: 'Don't push it!"

?: "Hey, Kouga! What's that on your tail?"

Kouga nonchalantly tosses your bag of weapons and supplies to the side. He looks behind himself and pulls…Shippo off of his tail.

Kouga: "Hey what do you know? The little guy managed to hang on the whole time."

Shippo looked dazed, but through the haze you can see that he is frightened. Kouga tosses him with a flick of the wrist into a large crowd of wolves. Like he was throwing away a piece of trash.

Kouga: "Here have an appetizer."

The wolves began to close in on Shippo. He is out of his daze now and crying.

Shippo: "SORRA!"

The cry got you on your toes. You push off of a nearby wall to give yourself the leverage to get past Kouga. You have barely enough time to grab Shippo before the wolves leap forward. Unable to stop your speed you throw your back to the cave wall allowing you to face Kouga and his wolves. Shippo is in your arms crying, but you are watching all in the cave with wary eyes.

Kouga: "Check it out. The girl has more guts than I thought. Unarmed against a bunch of hungry wolves? How did you plan to get out of that one?"

You: "I didn't."

A look passes through Kouga's eyes – a thoughtful one. He shakes it off and crosses the room to take you by the arm. More gently than before he brought you back to the hay patch by your arm.

?: "Make way! Wounded coming through."

Two large stretchers are brought in carrying badly wounded men. In one of the men's hands you can see bird feathers. The pattern reminded you of the bird you had seen earlier with Kouga. Your suspicions are confirmed when you see Kouga's expression. He has anger dancing in his eyes like blue fire.

You: "Was it the birds of paradise?"

Kouga looks back at you.

Kouga: "Yes they are our arch nemesis and this is definitely their work. They capture our comrades with their sharp, powerful claws."

You remember the appearance and force down a shudder when you think particularly of the claws.

You: "What do they do with them?"

Kouga: "They eat them. Their nests are littered with wolf bones."

You: "You can't stop them?"

Kouga: "One of them has a sacred jewel shard. And he's too fast to take down. He took out fifty of our wolves in one swoop. At this rate our pack will be wiped out completely…"

You: "I'll help."

Shippo: "WHAT?!"

Kouga: "What? Really?"

You: "Your pack mates are like family to you. I know that loss very well myself. That was only one, but fifty. That's unacceptable…I will help you beat these bastard birds, but after that I will continue to be thorn in your side."

Kouga *smirk*: "I thought you would be much harder to convince."

You: "Like I said I know your pain."

Kouga: "My condolences."

You: "And you have mine."

Kouga: "Any questions?"

You: "When do we get started?"
