"Oh Daphne!" Prince Niles cried, scooping her into his arms. "This is… the most joyous news I've ever heard! I love you so much!"
"I love you too, Niles!" She said, sighing as they shared kisses that neither of them would ever forget. Later, exhausted yet content after sharing a blissful union in which they expressed their love for one another, they lay in each other's arms, listening to the beating of their hearts.
Daphne sighed, kissing her husband's bare shoulder and pressed her face against his skin.
"What are you thinking about, my princess?"
She turned to face him and smiled. "If it's a boy, can we name him David? I know it's not a regal name, but it's me brother's name. I miss him so much. I miss all me brothers. Even Simon and he-."
"I think David is a wonderful name." Prince Niles said. "Of course if it's a girl then we'll have to think of something else."
"If it's a girl, I hope she's beautiful like Alice."
"How could she not be beautiful, when she has you for a mother?"
She moved closer to him, kissing him again and again. "Thank you, Niles."
"You're going to be a wonderful mother. I have no doubt about that."
After a few more kisses, they snuggled under the sheets and blankets where they fell into a deep slumber in each other's arms.
The next morning, Daphne was awakened by the softness of Prince Niles' lips on hers. She rolled over and smiled at her husband. "Good morning, sweetheart."
He smiled and kissed her once more. "Good morning, my princess."
It was then that she noticed that he was already dressed, and handsomely so.
"Why are you up so early?"
"Well, I have a surprise for you."
She sat upright in bed. "For me? But Niles, you've already given me more than I could possibly imagine."
He simply smiled and took her hand. "Please, my love. Get dressed and come with me. There's something I'd like to show you."
"Well, all right, but you really don't have to-."
He kissed her yet again and straightened his silk tie. "I'll be right outside in the hallway."
When he left the room, she rose from the bed crossing the large space until she came to her closet. And after a few minutes, she finally found the perfect outfit. A three-quarter length sleeve robins –egg blue dress that shimmered in the morning sunlight. It was perfect for… whatever Nile had in store for her. And when she was ready she found him, as promised, in the hallway.
They joined hands and he led her through the castle to the ballroom where they had first met. The spontaneity of it all made her giggle.
"Niles, are you taking me to another ball?"
"No, my love. But if you wish, I shall throw you the biggest ball the Emerald City of Seattle has ever seen!"
She kissed his cheek, wondering for the millionth time if this was, in fact a dream. If it was, she wanted to sleep forever. But then she felt his playful tug on her hand.
"Niles, where are we going?" She laughed.
"You'll see.."
As they reached the ball room, he led her inside where she saw the Grand Duke smiling at her. Beside him were King Martin and Prince Frasier. She greeted them warmly and then stood beside them, curious as to why Niles had brought her here. Surely it wasn't simply to see the family she had made contact with every day.
And then the most wonderful thing happened.
