Spades's P.O.V
We found Yellow, Crystal and Gold in the next cell. Hearts was gaining more power and more confidence. I looked at Aries who was snuggled up in my lap. I smiled remembering back to when I first met her.
Start Flashback
"Daddy?!" I shouted, running through the forest. I had gotten lost, I heard cries for help. I turned around and ran towards them. I found a little Zorua stuck in a Pokemon trap.
(Please help me!) She pleaded telepathically. I took out the pocketknife my dad gave me and cut her loose.
"Hey! That's property of Team Rocket," A mysterious man.
"Get her!" The second one picked me up by my hair. I screamed and suddenly the man let me go. I looked over at the Zorua, she had saved me… I blacked out soon afterwards.
"Katie! Are you ok?!" My dad shook me awake.
"Y-Yeah… What happened?" I asked.
"A talking Zorua came to us saying there was trouble, she's right here," He handed me the Zorua that saved me.
(Are you ok?!) She questioned, clearly concerned. I grinned and hugged her tightly.
"Thank you! Daddy can we keep her?" I smiled at him.
"Of course, what are you going to name her?" He grinned.
"Aries, after my Zodiac symbol," I nuzzled the Zorua. She cuddled into me. Out of the corner of my eye I saw someone that I didn't recognize… She had blonde hair with front bangs and pigtails, her eyes were sky blue... My dad saw my gaze and looked at the girl.
"Don't worry Mizu… We'll find out who killed your parents…"
End Flashback
Holy shit… The blonde girl was… Mizu… The murder of her parents was my father's final case before he died… I started shivering… How did I not remember her?! W-Wait… Is it possible that… I knew more of these girls but something happened and I can't remember?
"Hey Spades?" I looked over at Nynx who was trying to get my attention, "Are you ok? You've been sitting here muttering things…"
"She was the girl…" I mumbled.
"Huh?" Nynx looked at me confused.
"M-Mizu… Y-Your parents…" I stammered.
"What about them?" She asked.
"M-My dad… His final case… Was on the murder of your parents…" I responded. Nynx looked at me sadly, clearly feeling pity for me.
"This can't be... How do I not remember your face?!" Mizu exclaimed.
"I sense trickery..." I rubbed my chin, "I going to rest a bit more, to see if I have anymore memories…" I leaned back on the wall and closed my eyes. I fell into a deep sleep.
Start Flashback
I was in a forest again… Lost… I saw no one… I stepped on something and heard giggling.
"Oh! I'm sorry! That wasn't meant for you!" A girl with black hair with a ponytail cut me loose.
"It's fine, I'm Katie, what's your name?" I asked with a smile.
"I'm Ashley! Nice to meet you Katie," She responded, "What are you doing out here?"
"I'm looking for my daddy, I get lost here often," I rubbed the back of my head sheep
"I can see that," She giggled, "How about I help you find your daddy?"
"You would?! Thank you so much!" I hugged her, "Friends?"
"Of course!" We high-fived each other.
End Flashback
What is going on?! Mizu… Ashley… How did I not remember them?! It's like my whole life was flipped upside-down. Ashley doesn't remember me either… This is crazy… Wait could it be…
Start Flashback
I was in a dark room, I had just found out my father had been murdered. I heard voices in my head.
"What's wrong?"
"He's dead… Daddy's dead…" I muttered.
"I'm so sorry…"
"It's fine… No one ever listens, this wallpaper glistens, don't let them see what goes down in the kitchen~" I sung.
"Places, places! Get in your places, throw on your dress and put on your doll faces~"
"Everyone thinks that we're perfect, please don't let them look through the curtains~" I felt something snap inside of me.
"Picture! Picture! Smile for the picture! Pose with your brother, won't you be a good sister~"
"Everyone thinks that we're perfect, please don't let them look through the curtains~" I smiled insanely.
" E, I see things that nobody else sees~" We sung together. This voice had a name… Hearts… She was one of my only friends. (The song is Dollhouse by Melanie Martinez)
"Do you feel better now?" She asked.
"Yes…" I felt her take control and madness overcome me.
End Flashback
I can't remember anything after she took control… Maybe Hearts is the one who took my memories… I clutched my head, this was way too confusing.
"Find something Spades?" Ashley questioned.
"Yeah… I did…" I answered.
"Aren't you going to tell us?" Flora asked.
"No…" I mumbled.
"Lay off her, she's probably just remembered something she's disturbed about," Nynx gave me a weak smile, the heat seemed to be getting to her… Ice and heated places like hell do not mix well. I nodded, still trying to remember if I met Flora and Nynx at some time in the past. For now my mind was a blank and I was really confused.
Damn you Hearts…
? P.O.V
I hoped you liked my little surprises Spades… It wasn't Hearts that took them… It was me that took those memories… However… I didn't expect you to remember them that quickly… Ooh! She's having another flashback! Let's take a look…
Start Flashback
Spades's P.O.V
I was walking through the forest, looking for Aries. It was getting dark and I was worried about her, I don't know how but I managed not to get myself lost.
"Aries! Where are you!?" I shouted, I heard a branch snap and Aries tackled me.
"There you are! What were you doing out here so late?" I questioned,
(I smelled two new scents in the area, I was trying to find them. One had a strong scent of blood on them… But I couldn't place the species… they seemed strange) She responded.
I looked around and spotted a flash of white fur, I chased after it and came to a small clearing where there had clearly been a fight… There was blood speckled in places and fur everywhere. I heard a yelp and a branch fall, I looked over and it looked like there was a small arctic fox trapped under there, it was clear that most of the blood on the ground must have been hers by looking at the amount of red on her fur implying blood.
"Oh no!" I cried, running over to the little fox, only to be blocked by another fox, this time a red one, he snarled at me and then turned trying to push the branch off of her. I stepped forward, trying to help, he snarled at me.
"Relax I'm trying to help you get her out… " I said, we managed to her get out. She was limping badly and covered in blood from her own wounds. I looked at the red fox, he was the same way but not as bad as her.
"Aries… We need to help them… Give me a hand?" I said, grabbing the foxes.
(Want me to knock them out?) she asked, I nodded, she used hypnosis to put them to sleep. As soon as they were asleep I picked up Aries and ran home as quick as I could.
"Daddy! I need help!" I called, running into the living room with the injured foxes.
"Katie! What happened?!" he asked, alarmed by the bloody fox siblings.
"I found them like this… they need help!" I cried, Dad picked them up and started cleaning up the wounds, then patching them up.
"There, the wounds should start healing soon, but they are going to be scared when they wake up. You took them from their home it seems, and maybe they were already on their way out of here. Fox kits aren't on their own like this usually… Their mother and father must have died somehow… and have you seen the weird coloring on them?" Dad said, putting them down on the couch.
I looked closer at the foxes, he was right. The white fox, who we have determined is a girl, had icy blue tips on her ears and tail, and the red fox, who we have decided is a boy, has orange fur that almost looks cartoon like and white tips on his ears and tail… They acted almost… Human… I feel like I know them from somewhere… Twin fox siblings… One ice… One fire…
End Flashback
I jolted awake, I looked around at everyone, Nynx was curled up on her side… She looked almost like a fox cub… Her head was on her hands almost like she was resting her head on her paws, I could just imagine her with fox ears, drooped at the side of her head, her tail wrapped around her and resting just over her nose… She looked strangely like a fox… and that was the scary thing. But why would I remember that and think of Nynx… She's human and that was a fox. Maybe I was just thinking of Nynx because she's animal like… She reminds me of a fox just with the way she is.
I could have sworn that I saw the faint outline of icy mist ears and a tail and then it disappeared… I wonder what's happening that I'm starting to see her as that... She can't be… I mean I know she went through experiments… But they were all wiped out during the war… Could she be one? A gijinka? Either way she's still one my best friends, and I won't let anything happen to her.
I heard what sounded like whimpering and looked back over at her, she was curled up tighter, and yes, she was whimpering like a little fox cub, I reached out to stroke her head to comfort her, then she started to glow slightly, when the glowing died down in place of her human ears were fox ears, drooped at the side of her head limply. A tail was the next thing I noticed, it was wrapped tightly around her, almost like she was shielding herself from something, I was shocked, she was one… But why wouldn't she have told us?! Then I remembered the way she seemed to skip the topic of her past, it almost seemed that she wanted to avoid it at all costs. Maybe it's a sensitive subject for her… A flash of light and then both her ears and tail were gone. I closed my eyes, trying to find more memories…
Start Flashback
(You really need to stop getting lost Katie…) Aries deadpanned. We were in the forest again, trying to find dad…
"It's not my fault! I'm only 6!" I snapped. She stuck her tongue out at me. I walked deeper into the forest only to find a little girl with teal wings. She had a bow and arrow on her back, and emerald green eyes.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"My name is Katie, I'm lost," I rubbed the back of my head.
"I'm Flora, I think I have a telescope in my treebase, let's use it to find wherever your home is!" She smiled. I followed her into her treebase, it was huge! I saw a vending machine, flat screen TV, and a mini fridge! How did she get all this stuff in here?! She led me to the telescope where I quickly found my dad's workplace.
"Thanks!" I grinned.
"Welcome! Till we meet again!" She waved me off.
End Flashback
