Hello! Hello! Hello! I just want to start off by saying that I love writing this story so much. And I also want to say, these next two chapters are the absolute favorite that I have written. I hope everyone likes them as much as I do!
Also, thank you so much for the favorites and follows and reviews. I know I say this pretty much every chapter, but it's true. I also want to thank FrozenDaily for catching Kristoff's actual age! I had no idea that he was the same age as Elsa. 0_0 So his age is fixed now in chapter 22 and for later on! I'll stop rambling and let all of you get on with the story. Haha :)
Oh! One more thing. The reason why I had Anna call Terra 'Mama' is because it's more like a comfort thing to her. As she grows older, she slowly stops calling her that. However, she still refers to Terra sometimes as her mother because she needs her to be that person in her life occasionally. Elsa doesn't call her this for quite some time, but when she does, she realizes her oldest sibling has always loved her as a sister/daughter unconditionally. Hope this helps! :)
Chapter 25
"I just can't believe my sisters agreed to this." Terra said holding one of Hans' arms as they walked in the Royal Gardens of her home. Hans just smiled and patted Terra's hand with his gloved one.
"Is it really so surprising?"
"Yes and no. I want to give them so much that I forget to take care of myself sometimes...But I can honestly say these past few days have been wonderful." Hans stared at the girl who held onto the crook of his right arm. Her green eyes were alight and her pale cheeks were rosy with color, a bright white smile upon her face. His heart fluttered and he couldn't help but smile. A bit of laughter bubbled up from his stomach, passing from his lips. Terra looked over at Hans, seeing the joy upon his face.
"What?" She said, with an eyebrow raised and a smirk upon her face. The man stopped walking and turned to face her. Hans shakes his head, still smiling.
"It has been a wonderful time. I'm glad that I received the invite from Regent Lucius to come see the orphanage...And more importantly, to see you." Terra felt her face flame up.
"Hans..." Her heart thumped quickly. She knew where the man was going with this conversation. The question was, did she want to continue the conversation or was she too afraid? She then caught something out of the corner of her eye. Terra looked over and saw that she and Hans were standing in front of a fountain. Although, it wasn't just any fountain, it was the one that they had their cake throwing "contest" on her 21st birthday...And here it was, two years later, fall breezes surrounding them. She was now 23, Hans 21. 'Of course he's twenty one Terra, it was almost three months ago for his Coming of Age party...' She thought to herself.
"Terra, are you alright?" Hans asked the young woman. She jumped again, her gaze locking back onto the auburn haired man.
"Yes, I'm fine. I was just thinking." She smiled at the man to give him comfort. Hans sighed with a bit of relief.
"Don't frighten me like that." He paused. "What were you thinking about?" Terra smiled softly and sat down on the edge of the fountain and Hans followed suit.
"Just about the last time we were at this fountain...It's hard to believe that it's been two years, three next spring." Hans chuckled as he took off his jacket, letting the fall air cool him down. Terra found herself studying the man in front of her. He was no longer the teenage boy she met at her Coming of Age party. Hans was more filled out, not that small percentage of gawky from two years ago. His auburn hair glistening, jaw more square. The man was also a bit taller and regal. The white pressed shirt he was wearing and black suspenders were the mark of not a Prince, but of someone who took control of what he thought of himself. She was brought out of her thoughts again by his soft voice.
"I can't believe it either. It definitely has been an interesting year to say the least." He smiles slightly. "I have been wracking my brain, telling myself that I wouldn't talk to you about it, but-"
"You want to know if I have thought about your proposal again." She says, looking down at her brown shoes.
"So you noticed." Hans says, trying to force a laugh, but it sounds like a slightly painful cough. Terra swallows hard, a nervous spot forming in her chest. She looks up at Hans, finding her eyes have filled with tears.
"I uh...I would be lying if I said I hadn't." Terra gives into a sigh of relief. Hans finds himself taken aback, his eyes widening and a hint of a smirk form on his face.
"Does that feel better?" He takes one of her hands in his. Terra feels her cheeks get hot again, but she thinks for a minute before a smile comes back to the girl as her green eyes lock back with Hans' eyes. Her smile becomes a toothy grin as she speaks.
"Yes it does."
"Elsa! Elsa! Elsa!" Anna said running through the halls of her home, looking for her blonde headed sister. Even though she was supposed to working on her school assignments from the day before, she had found something more to do with her time. Well, something she thought was worth her time. However, what she had found, Anna thought Elsa should see too. The only problem was, where did her sister escape to?
"Slow down Miss Anna." Kai told the young girl as he was almost bowled over by the redhead. "Where's the fire?"
"I'm looking for Elsa! It's important!" She said bouncing back and forth from one foot to the other. The man just smiled at her.
"I suppose she was in her room last I che-" Before Kai could finish his sentence, Anna bolted off towards the bedrooms upstairs. The girl moved so quickly that she slid past Elsa's familiar door, running into a table that housed a plant and a vase underneath a painting of the whole family.
"Oof!" The table squeak and the tan vase wobbled. Anna did her best to get her footing and catch the vase and thankfully, she grabbed it in the nick of time. She set it on the table and sighed, glad that she didn't break anything else this week, lest Terra force her to do more chores. The girl went to Elsa's door and performed her usual knock.
"Elsa!" She waited for the usual words that came from behind the door, but nothing ever came. Anna knocked again. There was still no answer. "Huh..." The girls ears then heard a door down the hall open and saw a familiar face coming out of the bathroom. This person was dressed in a deep blue, high collared jacket, black flats, and a matching deep blue skirt. She also donned her familiar white gloves. Anna briefly remembered that this was the outfit Elsa had worn when their parents had left. Anna immediately ran towards Elsa.
Elsa heard the thudding of feet and her eyes widened as Anna ran towards her. She backed up slightly, not longing to be sent to the ground, gaining bruises on her posterior. The girl could feel her nerves twisting into knots, but wanted to try to see what Anna wanted.
"Elsa! You'll never believe what I've seen!" Elsa smiled lightly, hands folded in front of herself.
"It must be something pretty exciting if you're running the halls and being louder than normal." Anna nodded quickly, her braided pigtails bouncing about.
"You have to come and see!" Before Elsa could protest, longing to return back to her studies and the safety of her room, Anna grabbed a hold of a part of her skirt and began pulling her along. All she could do was try not to trip and do her best to control her powers. She only hoped that whatever Anna was going to show her would be worth it.
"C'mon Elsa! Get down!" Anna whispered vehemently to her sister, pulling her down in the dirt behind a set of bushes. Elsa groaned slightly, also doing her best to keep her gloves and clothes from receiving dirt splotches.
"Anna, why did you bring me out to the gardens? Honestly...and hiding in the bushes?"
"Shhh! She'll hear you." Anna said. Elsa raised an eyebrow in confusion until her copper haired sister pointed. Elsa looked in the direction where Anna was pointing through the thin patches in the bushes. It was then she saw her eldest sister sitting across an auburn haired man. Of course. Anna had been spying. However, Elsa also noticed that from where she and Anna were, the man had his back to them. Although, there was a smile and a rosy cheeked glow upon Terra's face as she talked with this him.
Elsa felt her own cheeks flaming up slightly. She felt embarrassed and like she had seen something she wasn't supposed to. This was a moment that their older sister intended to have alone with said guest. The girl knew that she and Anna shouldn't be here watching this exchange. If Terra really wanted herself and Anna to meet this man, she would eventually introduce them. Elsa had no intention of being found in the bushes.
"Anna, we should go. I don't think Terra would be too happy knowing that we-"
"I bet that he is really good looking." Anna said interrupting Elsa, her eyes narrowed slightly and a serious look was now upon her face. Elsa looked at the girl skeptically.
"Anna I really think-" This time, Elsa stopped her sentence, finally having processed what her younger sister had just said. The blonde scoffed slightly, raising an eyebrow. "And just how do you know that?" A small smirk spread onto Elsa's face. Anna looked over at Elsa and replied, without skipping a beat.
"He's got good hair." Elsa's eyes widened and she felt laughter begin to bubble in her stomach. The girl shook her head and she did her best to keep from laughing as she tried to sneak back inside. When she did make it inside, she realized that she was not alone. Anna had followed her back inside.
"Why did you leave? What did I say?" Elsa laughed a little and then replied.
"You can't tell someone is good looking by their hair alone. It doesn't work that way." She looked at Anna compassionately. The younger girl mulled it over for a moment.
"Ok...Well...no. Maybe not, but I still bet he is." Elsa smiled, folding her hands neatly in front of herself.
"Maybe." Anna began to twiddle her fingers and a smile appeared.
"Elsa, do you think maybe he'll be our brother?" Anna watched as Elsa's perfectly pale skin turn a deep red all over her face. The copper haired girl did her best not to laugh at her sister's reaction, but it was a valid question after all. After a moment, Elsa regained composure, answering as best as she could.
"I'm not sure if Terra is...ready for that step...And I'm not sure that I'm ready either...But that is her decision and no matter what, I'll be there for her. Just as she would be for me or you if something like marriage ever happened or whatever comes our way." Anna's face brightened at Elsa's response and she nodded.
"I think that would be lovely." Elsa smiled and Anna could see the kindness behind Elsa's bright blues.
"Me too."
"Do you have to go?" Terra asked as she and Hans now stood on the dock in front of his ship, the Tardisian. The man sighs and looks at the woman before him. The sun was now lower in the sky. The pair had talked for hours in the garden and Terra was due for dinner soon, having had it pushed back and making sure her sisters would receive snacks during their wait. Hans smiled at her.
"I'm afraid I must. I may be thirteenth in line, but my father still has things for me to do. He already won't be pleased that I stayed this long..." He pauses as he sees Terra looking him straight in the eye. "But he'll get over it." She smiles, her cheeks pink again as she looks sheepishly at the ground. Terra swallows hard and looks back up Hans.
"...I really am sorry for not-" She watches the green eyed man shake his head, a crooked smile on his face.
"Don't worry about it. I understand that you are not ready and I respect that. I'm just glad that you were honest with me about my proposal." She nods and before she can think about it, she practically lunges forward, wrapping her arms around Hans' torso. Hans rests his chin on the top of Terra's head, embracing her too. It was not a romantic hug by any means, but it was one that he wished that he didn't have to part from. Terra felt the same. It felt almost like they would never see one another again.
"Mr. Westergaurd sir, we are ready to set sail when you are." Hans looked over at the ships captain and nodded.
"Thank you...I shall be aboard momentarily." The man on the ship nodded and disappeared. The two friends released their hug and Hans reached into his pocket, pulling out a black box. "Now, before you get any ideas, it's not an engagement ring." Terra laughed and Hans did as well.
"Well, what is it then if not a ring?"
"I didn't say it wasn't a ring." He opens the box and reveals a silver ring, upon a sliver chain. It was so simple and yet so beautiful. "It's a promise, that no matter what, I'll always be there for you. I'll always be waiting and that I will always support you." The girl smiles and takes the box in hand, marveling at the gift for a moment before closing the box. She looks at Hans.
"I love it...But I have nothing for you..." As soon as the words leave her lips though, something comes to mind.
"I know that look." Hans says smirking. Terra takes one of his hands, her other hand holding onto the little black box.
"I have nothing to give you now but my word. I wonder...I wonder if you would join me and my family on the day of my coronation and my sister Elsa's 21st birthday. You and your family...But especially you my dear, dear friend." He watches as a smile begins to spread across her seemingly flawless face. A spark of joy finding its way into her green-blue eyes. A pink blush giving her a glow once again. Hans returns the smile and bows, placing a kiss upon her hand that had been holding his.
"It would be my honor. And that is a wonderful gift indeed." Terra gives into a thankful laugh and nods.
"I'm glad." The two stand there for a moment, the sun a little lower now. Something in the girls heart begins to ache and she can hold it back no longer, wrapping her arms around the prince again. Her eyes squeeze shut as something in her mind nags at her. Hans is a little taken aback, not returning the hug right away. However, he does eventually return the hug, noticing something is off.
"Hey, what's the matter? You act like-"
"I just get the feeling I won't see you for a long time." Hans holds her at arms length.
"I promise I will visit as often as I can. Although, I will for sure be here on the day of your Coronation." Terra breathes a sigh of relief. Maybe she was just being paranoid. Out of the corner of her eye, Terra sees Hans' ship Captain, waiting impatiently
"I think I had better let you go. Your captain is beginning to give me the evil eye." The pair laugh for a moment and then share in one more hug. "Write to me?"
"Don't I always?" Hans says with a smile just before boarding his ship. Terra stood on the docks, watching Hans' ship sailing away. Hans waved for a good while at the back of his ship and the girl returned it until she could no longer visibly make out her friends figure. Her memories came back to her as she stood there. A few months ago, it was Hans watching her sail away and now, here she was watching him sail away. 'It's funny how life works...' she thought to herself. Soon, Hans' ship was no longer visible, disappearing among the setting sun upon the horizon.
A few days later...
All was quiet after Hans left Arendelle. It mostly consisted of constant audiences and paperwork and lesson work for Terra, making sure every free moment she could spare was spent with her sisters, even it meant losing sleep. It had been taxing at first, but it seemed to fade away so long as Terra thought of other things. However, when she did get rest, it helped greatly. It refreshed the spirit of not only herself, but her sisters and most assuredly, the whole Kingdom of Arendelle.
Sleep reigned throughout the castle, the moon sending its beams to comfort the sleeping figures within their bedrooms. However comforting the moonbeams were, there was one person who was having trouble sleeping. A dream was causing her to toss and turn in her sleep. Her blankets felt as though they choking her, being twisted around her legs and torso. She breathed in and out quickly until she flew up with a slight scream, sweat crowding her brow. Terra swallowed hard, glad to be awake, but the foreboding feeling she got from the dream mixed with the feeling she had had when she hugged Hans a few days ago.
"...oh my..." Terra said with a deep sigh, a hand upon her forehead. Her dream...it had seemed so real. It was just like the one she had about her cousin. She thought for a few moments, trying to decide what she should do. What her father would do? It was then that it came to her. Terra untangled herself from her blankets and quickly made her way over to her closet, drawing on a deep forest green traveling cloak over her night gown and she slid on her favorite brown leather boots. She then quickly braided her mess of her hair and when she was finished, the girl laid the braid over her right shoulder. Drawing up her hood, she began to make her way downstairs to her study.
Terra hurried down the steps, longing to go where she had intended quickly, not wishing to forget her dream. It meant something. She was sure of it. However, she did not intend to run into the guard who had been specifically assigned to her: Samuel. There were occasionally a few guards who worked the night patrol, making sure no one broke into the castle.
"Y-Your Highness!" Samuel said, surprised as he bumped into the young woman. "What are you doing awake? Three o'clock is a time you should be sleeping..." He pauses, seeing she is wearing a pair of sturdy shoes and a traveling cloak. "Is something the matter your Highness?" Terra swallows hard, knowing she must stand her ground and for once, exercise her "ruler" rights.
"I'm afraid so. I need to step out for the moment. See to it that my horse, Titus, is readied." She watches as her guard becomes a little confused and then he stands up a little taller.
"Your Highness I am afraid I must protest." She furrows her brow slightly, her tone becomes firm, but she also does her best to remain kind.
"That was an order Sir Samuel." He nods.
"I meant no offense your Highness. Shall I ready a horse for myself to accompany you?" She shakes her head.
"No, I wish to do this alone. Do not worry, I will stay on the proper paths." The man nods and then heads off to ready the girls horse. Terra then made her way to her study and once inside, she went over to her fathers desk, searching through the drawers.
"Where is it...Where did you put it Papa?" She mutters to herself and finally, she finds what she is looking for. "Aha!" She proclaims, holding a red book in hand. It was the very one that her father used many years ago when the incident in the ballroom happened. After that, her father had hidden the book, but obviously not too well as he had hoped. Terra began flipping through the pages until she found the map she was looking for. She took the map out and set the book on the desk, gazing over the path on the map she must take before tucking it into a hidden pocket on the inside of her cloak.
"Your Highness, are you sure you won't reconsider?" Samuel asked as Terra mounted Titus, her cloak spreading over the backside of her horse. A small chill went through her as a brief fall breeze passed over her, taking away the last bit of warmth from her sleep.
"No. I must go before I forget." 'Before I forget that dream...' she thought to herself. "If I am not back by late morning, you may send a search party after me. See to it that my sisters are kept safe and that nothing happens to them."
"Yes your Highness." Samuel turned to the guard in the high tower. "Open the gates!" The gates creaked and groaned in protest from the lack of movement over the years. The man turned back to Terra and looked nervous.
"I shall be fine Samuel. I promise." Terra smiled at him lightly.
"Be careful your Highness." The man stood back and watched the High Princess nod and then click her heals into her horses' sides.
"Hyah!" Titus whinnied, reared up briefly, and then stomped a bit before taking off into the night. The princess prayed that the trolls would wake when she called.
The trail that she and Titus followed seemed familiar, but even Terra was beginning to struggle finding her way among the spindly pines and mountains. The girl shivered from the cool breath that the mountains were heaving upon her. Maybe it would have been wiser if she had pulled on some fur lined pants over top of her nightgown. Soon, she brought her horse to a stop, pulling out the map to the troll's rocky shaw. Terra did her best to read it in the night, but even with the moonlight, it was difficult to make out. The girl slid the map back into her cloak pocket and closed her eyes. She began to draw upon her memories, the ones that had been far too painful for so long. The night of the ballroom incident. Flashes in her mind showed her the path she was to go as she remembered. Terra's eyes shot open and she clicked her heels, sending Titus off into a gallop. The trolls were definitely in the direction she had been heading after all and she was almost there.
As she arrived in the rocky glen, it was as if nothing had changed in the past ten years. Moss still lingered in the same places and boulders seemed to be resting in the same places too. However, the girl knew that those boulders were all too alive and well. Terra dismounted Titus and led him to a small grassy area so he could graze and drink from the puddles that had gathered there. She turned back, letting down her hood, moonbeams spreading across her dark brown hair. Her voice cracked as she spoke out into the night, nearing the small and mossy boulders.
"H-Hello? P-Pabbie?" Nothing happened. It was quiet and Terra felt almost like a cool sadness begin to take over her, starting at her feet. She swallowed hard. "Pl-Please. I need...help..." Still nothing and she found herself becoming even more dispirited. The girl knelt down on the ground, hugging herself, and bowing her head. Her eyes closed shut, her mind longing to remember the dream she had hours earlier before coming to the trolls. Terra's heart felt like it needed a sob and soon, it passed from her lips..
"...I-I've had another d-dream..." She whispered into the night, tears quivering in her eyes. It was after this sentence, the girl felt stony and heavy hands upon her shoulders. Terra brought her gaze up and found herself looking into the kind eyes of a familiar old troll. Out of reflex, she wrapped her arms around Pabbie, who was taken by surprise. However, he smiled to himself, hugging the girl back, glad that he could comfort her. "Oh Pabbie..."
"My dear Princess. What seems to be troubling you so?" Terra let go of Pabbie, noticing that the other trolls were now awake, listening intently.
"I've had another dream Pabbie...Like the one I had about my cousin years ago...I don't know...Something is wrong..." The elderly troll furrowed his brow in concern.
"Can you tell me about it?" She shook her head.
"I tried to hold onto it, but it's fuzzy at best." Terra frowned, cheeks burning with slight embarrassment. Pabbie smiled softly, pushing back his cloak slightly, warming up his rocky hands.
"I can help with that, but you must lay down and close your eyes." The girl did as she was told and laughed when a random troll brought her a moss pillow, another draped blanket made of soft grass over her. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Soon, she felt herself lulled into a doze from the atmosphere and the cool, stone touch from Pabbie on her forehead. The dream began to return, causing Terra once again to fret in her sleep.
Terra once again found herself in a world of white, snowflakes flying around, causing her cheeks to become rosy and chapped. Her brown hair flew about in its braid, her cap long gone because of the furious wind. The girls green eyes locked onto two figures in the distance upon the fjord, one was unmoving and icy blue. It was almost as if this figure was frozen.
"Anna..." She muttered, her voice carried away by the torrent of winds and small icy "daggers" hitting her face and eyelashes. Her heart began to beat quickly as she ran, cloak whipping about behind her. The other figure that she saw became recognizable to her as Elsa. She was on the ground weeping. It was so sad to the oldest girl. Terra ran as quickly as she could, trying to reach her sisters, calling out to them so loudly that her throat became hoarse. However, before she could reach them, they disappeared, and a new figure appeared in front of her.
"Hans!" He stood in front of her, a sword raised in hand. The look on his face was all wrong. It was not the boy she knew. Terra didn't know this Hans. However, something didn't fit, but as his sword was coming down, he called out to her.
"Terra help me! Please! Someone is..." His words faded, but not before he cried out once more. "Terra please help me!" The white world soon went dark and then was lit up by millions of candles, revealing another familiar figure among maroon curtains. The same woman from the dream about her cousin. Terra swallowed nervously, keeping her distance from the gray eyed and raven haired woman. However, something was different this time. She seemed more earthly somehow.
"Wh-what do you want?" The woman smiled, looking at her nails and then back at Terra.
"My revenge...Mark my words. You and your sisters will pay for interfering." The girl shook her head.
"I don't understand! Interfering in what? I don't understand!" the woman laughed and laughed.
"You will see. I have such plans for you..." Terra crouched down, burying her face in her knees, hands on her ears.
"No. No. No."
"Yes. Yes. Yes." the woman said stepping closer. "You will be my new-"
Terra sat up quickly, gasping for breath. Where was the air in this place? Where was she? The girl looked around, seeing the night sky, slight tinges of orange barely creeping into it. The silver orb in the sky still lingered as she found that she was surrounded by trolls.
"Your Highness, are you alright?" She places a hand on her chest, and nods.
"I just need to catch my breath." It is silent as Terra takes a moment to herself or as much as one can when surrounded by stoney beings. Getting back onto her knees, she faces Pabbie. "Wh-what does it mean? Can you tell me?" He shakes his head.
"Not this time. If I do, I am afraid the consequences would be great. Sometimes, future, past, or present, revealing events can lead to a different outcome." Terra pinches the bridge of her nose briefly and then brings her hand away.
"Is there anything you can tell me at all? Maybe about Hans? He was crying out for me to help him...I don't understand..." Pabbie thinks for a moment and then nods.
"Sometimes, there are portal mirrors in certain waters and I have spoken with many other wise men over the years. There is one by the name of Rafiki whom has oft given me advice when I thought I would have none to give. I share this with you now. 'Look beyond what you see'." Terra felt more confused than when she had started this little journey.
"I still don't understand..."
"I thought as much, but you will." Pabbie puts a hand upon the girls shoulder. "You were very wise to seek me out in a time such as this. Terra, you have become a wonderfully wise woman and one of beauty and compassion. All these qualities and more, you must possess in order to be a proper parent, sister, and queen. You will know what you must do when the time is right." the girl felt something lift off of her shoulders from his words.
"Thank you Pabbie."
"Please, call me Grand Pabbie. Most do." He says with a smile. Terra notices more early morning colors are appearing in the sky. The girl stands up, brushing off her once bright, white gown.
"I suppose I should take my leave my friends. Thank you for your hospitality and your kind words. Rest well." The trolls murmured thank yous and began to roll back into their sleeping positions as Terra remounted Titus and headed on her way home.
"...Look beyond what you see...Look beyond what you see..." Terra repeated as she and Titus continued through the forest. "What in Arendelle could that possibly mean? I wish I could figure it out and what that dream has to do with anything!" She shouted slightly. Just then, interrupting her thoughts, there was a loud crack of twigs from inside the trees. This caused Titus to rear up, Terra falling off onto the ground, mud covering her gown. She got up as quickly as she could trying to calm Titus down before he had the chance to run off.
"Easy boy, easy. Whoa. Whoa." Terra pet his neck and he calmed down after a few moments. After he did, the girl decided to figure out what that noise had been. Her eyes scanned the edge of the trees and nothing came into her vision. She slowly stepped back and bumped into something.
"Titus what are you-" Terra turned around seeing it wasn't Titus at all, giving into a startled scream. The person she had bumped into did as well, although it was more manly. The girl stepped back a few feet, taking in the look of this stranger. He was rather tall and scraggly, blonde hair poked out from under his winter cap and he also sported the clothes of an ice harvester. However, his face seemed young for someone so tall. He couldn't have been more than Elsa's age. Terra also felt that she should have known his name, as she did her best to study up on the people in the kingdom, but nothing came to her. An awkward silence took place before one of the two got the gumption to speak.
"So...uh...what's a pretty wo- I mean a woman doing out in a forest like this, all by herself?" Terra felt her cheeks burn at the mention of the word 'pretty'. She grabbed the reigns of her nearby horse, almost as if to provide herself with some sort of back up plan. However, Terra wasn't sure what that was exactly.
"Visiting some old friends, not that it is any of your business...Tell me, was that you making all that noise?" She asked him, raising an eyebrow. He rubbed the back of his head. "And you're out here all by yourself, why is it any different for you?"
"No...That was just my reindeer. Sometimes he's a bit shy, although with carrots not so much...You don't happen to have any do you?" Terra shakes her head. "Oh and I happen to live around this area...so...And women shouldn't travel alone in my opinion..." he shrugs.
"I'm afraid not reindeer man and I can take care of myself." This time, it was the boys turn for his cheeks to turn pink. "I'm sorry, I meant no offense...I just..."
"Ahh, no worries." He says waving off Terra's statement. "You really shouldn't travel out here alone though. Wolves and such around. Same for the area near the Northern mountains, although it's a lot worse over there."
"Well, I'm getting closer to home...so...I think I'll be alright." the boy mulled it over.
"True...And they attack mostly at night or so I've found...It's not exactly night anymore." The sun had now begun to spread yellows and pinks through the sky. Terra smiled at him and decided to pay the man a compliment.
"However, I do thank you for the concern Mr..."
"Bjorgman." He says to her.
"Thank you then, Mr. Bjorgman. I should be on my way." Terra says, mounting Titus, she now having to look down at the boy. The boy couldn't help but notice how regal the girl looked, or woman rather, as she sat up on her jet black steed, regardless of the mud on her nightgown and cloak.
"Well, I shall allow you to...well y'know, go home..." The girl thinks about it for a moment, trying to come up with a name to give him, not wanting to use her own. She smiles as something comes to her: Idun. Her mothers name.
"Idun." She watches the blonde man nod and then gesture the direction she was going. The boy thought the name sounded familiar, but at the moment, he couldn't place it. His mind was also on other things, like going to his own home for instance.
"To home with you then, Idun. Nice meeting you...I think?" Terra laughs and nods.
"You too Mr. Bjorgman, be safe." He nods and steps back as the girl sends her horse into a gallop and rides off into the morning. However, as days, weeks, and months pass, the meeting is soon forgotten between the two parties. It becomes but a distant memory in the deep recesses of their minds. The only thing that Terra remembers, besides her dream, is that she has to 'Look beyond what she sees' and she is to determined to do just that, no matter how long it takes.
I think I should explain as to why Pabbie mentions the mirror portals. I felt that maybe since there is magic in the world, why wouldn't it connect the different worlds/places? So the mirror portal type things work sort of like the Evil Queen's mirror only with certain waters and there could possibly magical waters within the Valley of the Living Rock. This would enable Pabbie to seek out the wisdom of others who may also be using the "mirror" waters.
I hope that makes sense! :o
