Jason & Sabrina's Epologue
Jay woke up and felt for Sabrina next to him, but she wasn't there. He was about to call out to her when he saw her standing in front of the window staring out at the Alps. Curious, Jason inched across the mattress and stood up behind her. "Sabrina?" he whispered as he pulled her against him and wrapped his arms around the waist, "Are you alright?"
He felt Sabrina relax against him. She placed her hands on top of his at her waist and whispered, "Yeah, I'm fine. I just couldn't sleep even though I'm exhausted."
"Why?"
"Too much excitement, I guess."
He squeezed her gently. "Well, it was a big day, Mrs. Quartermaine."
Sabrina twisted in his embrace until she was facing him. She smiled. "That it was, Mr. Quartermaine." She kissed him on the cheek lightly. "Everything was perfect. I just don't want it to end."
Jay touched his forehead to hers and said, "Me neither," as he thought back to their intimate wedding at the house he brought her to in order to convince her to choose him. It was the two of them, the minister and his wife, who served as their witness. After their wedding on the patio with the alps in the background, they drove into town on his motorcycle and enjoyed a candlelight dinner for two.
He kissed Sabrina tenderly and then pulled back. "Are you sure about this, though?"
Sabrina nodded. "I'm a little scared, but I think this is the best thing for us right now. There is nothing tying me to Port Charles. Not anymore."
Jay sighed. "I never meant to cause you more pain, Sabrina. I'm sorry that you and Patrick couldn't salvage your friendship. And that you lost Emma again. If only I had come to my senses sooner…"
Sabrina brought her index finger to his lips and shushed him. "I know, Jay. He is angry and hurt, but, more importantly, he wants what is best for Emma. Me being in and out of her life has confused and upset her. Maybe in time, we'll see; but, for now, a clean break is what is best given the circumstances." Sabrina rubbed his upper arms supportingly. "Besides, this is an amazing opportunity for you and I want to be where you are."
"I'm excited to get to learn my family's business," he said emphatically, happy to have accepted a position as Vice President in ELQ's Geneva office. "And to just be myself, with no expectations or pressure.
"What about Danny?"
"Monica is bringing him over this summer. In the meantime, Sam and I arranged for me to Skype with him several times a week. He has friends at preschool and I don't want to disrupt that for him." Jay hated being away from him again, but since he would be flying back and forth to meet with the family at ELQ headquarters, he'd be able to visit Danny often. Jay glanced down at the bed and reluctantly said, "We should probably try to get some sleep. You have a big interview tomorrow and need to be well-rested."
"True," Sabrina said thoughtfully, but caused Jay to laugh when she added, "I wouldn't want anyone to think I got the job because I'm sleeping with the boss."
"You are amazing and talented. I can't think of anyone better to consult on our healthcare portfolio. I know the director of our private equity division will feel the same way."
"Do you really think so? Being a nurse is all I know."
"Absolutely. And if you don't like it, we can check into finding you a nursing position."
"I really don't want to have to take another exam to get my license over here, though."
"Well then we will just move back to Port Charles so you can work at GH again. I can work at ELQ there."
"You would do that?"
"I want you to be happy. And I want to be where you are. Now that I have you, I'm not letting you go."
"I love you, Jay Morgan Quartermaine," Sabrina said as she hugged him tightly.
"I love you, too," he replied. "And, I'd really like to show you how much. What do you say we go back to bed?"
When Sabrina nodded, Jay picked her up and carried her back to bed, eternally grateful for the second chance she'd given him.
