My Dear Sister,

It has been 20 years since my last letter. I was cleaning out a trunk of my old things this morning when I found a stack of old letters. I read through them and thought back to the way things used be. I thought to myself that I should write another letter to tell you about how different things have gotten.

I live in France again now, in the countryside. After Jack and I got married we moved here to start a family. We own a little farm there. We raise chickens and grow little vegetables. It is a calm little life.

We have two children now. Eponine and Gavroche. I see so much of you and my brother in them. My daughter is eleven and very smart for her age. She is a kind girl and she is adventurous. My son is nine years old. He is fun loving and free.

We are all free.

Keeya and Natta moved to Canada with their Mother a few years after we moved to Jack's cousin's house. We don't see each other but we write letters to each other. Keeya is married and has a young daughter. Natta moved back to Indiana and helps Jack's cousin Grace run the safe house.

I also keep in touch with Father. Apparently after I left the police came and took him away. Before he leFt though he destroyed his birth certificate and so then at his trial there was no good evidence against him. He only served in jail about four months then he left and moved to Georgia because he heard rumors that people were finding gold there and getting rich.

He is now old and healthy for his age. He writes me and tells me he's glad I found my happiness.

I do feel that's true. I am truly happy with my life. I'm not rich, but not poor. I don't have everything, but I have enough. Things are simple, and I like it that way. I like waking up and not having worries.

I tell my son he is named after his uncle. I tell him his uncle would have liked him and wanted to be his friend. I told him that he is independent like his uncle and smart.

I tell my daughter that she is named after her aunt. I tell her all about you and how brave you were. She says she wants to be as brave as you. She looks like you. You have the same eyes.

I wish you could be here to see my family and my farm. I think you would have liked it.

I surely do,

Your Sister, Azelma
