Never Believe
Chapter 25 - Game on
She had no idea what was happening.
After all the horrible - to say the least - events, her mind had stopped working correctly. It must have given in between him falling to his knees and everything going to hell. Literally.
Everything around her was burning, crumbling and even flying. A good half of the island was burning to ashes. Not she cared.
Most of the trees had been hit by a heavy and destroying wind. Not that it mattered.
The ground on which she was kneeling was breaking under everyone's feet; everyone's feet except hers. Not that she noticed.
She only snapped out of whatever she was in when she felt the body beneath her dirty hands. Her eyes flew open, but her vision was as blurry as a blurry sight could get. She couldn't even make out all the colours. She blinked a few times, trying to get that impression to go away, but the more she moved, the harder it was to keep her eyelids open. She felt the body shift once more, her arms raising as the body did.
Amy started to panic. Not being able to think, speak, scream, look, move. It was killing her.
Her breaths came shallow and quick, just like they always did in dangerous or weird situations. The weird part in this situation was that the air she was breathing was... sweet.
Then it suddenly tasted powerful. Then sweet again.
Disturbingly enjoying its taste, Amelia did her best to take a very deep breath.
Best. Decision. In. Days.
Hook dodged a palm tree falling his way, taking Emma down with him. For the first time, the woman didn't push him away. She knew better than to resist stubbornly at a time like that. It was getting harder and harder to stay alive, especially since she had to keep an eye on her son, as well. Henry, surprisingly, was doing pretty fine protecting himself.
Emma felt her heart sting a little. She was a little afraid that after the whole Neverland thing he wouldn't need her just as much.
When the ground underneath her feet cracked, all thoughts about anything else than keeping her son safe went flying out the window.
"We have to move!" Rumple yelled above the roaring wind that was making the bloody trees fall.
Charming nodded, but kept his eyes fixated on the shattering ground. "Earthquake!" He shouted, kind of unnecessarily.
Who would not notice the freaking ground moving.
"We have to leave!" Screamed Regina, out of energy. She had tried way too hard to keep everyone safe under a protection spell.
They all started to run towards the beach, but suddenly, Snow stopped abruptly. "Wait! Amelia! We can't leave her there!"
Rumple didn't even stop. Charming stopped because his wife did, while the others turned around. They didn't exactly look like they agreed with her. Hook was the first to speak. "She's safer here, anyway!"
Snow frowned at that, but didn't say anything. There wasn't anything to say. It was true, after all.
So she ran.
Her vision abruptly became clear, the light of her surrounding blinding her for a few seconds. But she could see, that was all that mattered. She immediately looked for the body, but just like she had feared, it had disappeared.
She raised her hand hastily, slapping herself as hard as she possibly could. Her head snapped to the side, but she ignored the physical pain. The pain she felt deep inside of her was way more painful that her stupid headache. She took a deep breath again, only then noticing that the sweet and powerful taste of the air was still there.
She tried to do a 360, but the sudden dizziness made her sit back down again, hurting her left hand in the process. Don't ask her how she managed to do that. She clenched her eyes shut, trying desperately to regain control of the situation.
The young blonde looked down at her hands - wincing as she moved her left one - and observed them for a few seconds.
All she could see was blood, dirt and some more blood.
At some point in her observation, some green light suddenly appeared around them. Her eyes widened slowly, but the calming effect it had on her didn't make her remove her hands. She just turned them around a little. She then noticed that the green light wasn't after her hands but after something on the ground.
An arrow.
Well, a piece of one, really.
And just as she saw it, it was gone. The half-weapon was gone. The green light was gone. Her sanity was probably gone, too. But that wasn't much of a surprise. Not even for her.
"Amelia!" Shouted a loud masculine voice.
Her eyes widened once more as she recognized it. "Felix!" She screamed back, her voice breaking at the second syllable. Somehow, her own voice had surprised her.
"Amelia, you have to come with us!" He shouted, trying to get his voice over the wind, the rain and the fire. It worked, she could hear him. But that didn't mean she could make her voice reach him.
She tried anyway. "I can't..." She said, looking down at her body. Then, remembering he couldn't really hear her, she screamed it.
"What?" He asked, dumbly. She sighed. She tried to get up, and as surprisingly as it sounded, managed to without any complication whatsoever. Amelia was on her feet.
"Holy shit." She whispered, feeling her whole body working.
"What are you saying?" Felix shouted, making her eyes roll. "Holy shit." She repeated, enjoying the feeling her cursing had on her mind.
She could get out.
Then, reality struck her. Did she really want to get out?
"You have to get to the echo caves!" The blond boy said, trying to get through the fire. He only managed to burn himself. When she saw his hand, over it, she somehow put all logic to the side. It might have been because of that weird green thing, but she suddenly felt invincible. Well, invincible enough to walk - or more likely run - through fire.
So she waited for his hand to reappear. When it did, she ran.
The collision with Felix's body had not been planned. They both fell to the ground with a loud thud. She hadn't even had time to apologize, or say something, or do something before feeling pulled up by some strong hands. She turned around, just to see Nico and Carter and some other Lost Boys. Or ex-Lost Boys.
Who. The. Fuck. Cared. Anyway.
"Felix I-" She started, returning her attention to the oldest boy, but he cut her off quickly. "Have to go. Now. Echo Caves."
His breath came into short breaths. She observed his face for a second, noticing how much like hell he looked. But then again, she didn't look exactly fresh either. She nodded, too overwhelmed to argue. Not that she really had a reason to argue, though.
They somehow quickly arrived at destination. It hadn't been easy to dodge all the palm trees and the few fires, but they had all come through.
At the entrance, Felix stopped, turning swiftly on one foot. "Get in. We're getting the others."
Without hesitation, she obeyed his orders, not wanting to go against him. He was the son of the Wicked Witch, after all. She knew what she could do, so she didn't want to go against the boy. She stepped right in, not bothering to give the others a last glance, and gasped.
The green light.
It came from there. From the Echo Caves.
Then, suddenly, she froze. She had heard it before seeing anything.
"Game over, huh, love?"
She turned around immediately, her heart beat going so fast she feared it was going to explode. At first, she believed she was dreaming, but the blood, the arrow and fucking smirk told her otherwise.
Peter Pan was there. In front of her.
Neverland was crumbling. All around her.
Amelia started crying. Or laughing. She didn't even know.
Game on.
