L's POV

I brought the helicopter closer to the ground and landed it as the chief's voice came through our headsets, "Ryuzaki, please let me go and make the arrest."

I thought about it for a moment and nodded, "I understand, but please remember this is Kira. Take every precaution when you approach him and don't allow him to see your face." I said and the chief made a noise of understanding. "Watari, if Higuchi tries anything or makes any sudden moves…" I didn't need to finish.

"Understood, I will shoot to stop him, not to kill." I nodded at his words.

"We've apprehended him." A broad smile broke out on Anna's face. I was glad since she'd been pouting since I told her she could not attempt to fly the helicopter.

"Mogi, I want you to put the headset on him as planned." Light said. We watched Mogi slip on the headset.

"Higuchi, how are you able to kill people? Tell me." I demanded. The line remained silent. "If you're not going to talk, I'll use whatever means necessary to get it out of you."

"The notebook." Higuchi said after a moment.

I locked eyes with Anna. She was right. "Notebook?" I asked still looking at Anna.

"You probably won't believe me, but I've got a special notebook. If I write someone's name down while thinking of their face, they'll die."

"Mr. Yagami?" I asked turning my attention to the scene.

"Yeah, I found it. It was in one of the compartments of Higuchi's bag. He has written a lot of names, but there doesn't seem to be anything unusual about it." Suddenly the chief began to scream and stumble backwards to the ground.

"Mr. Yagami?" Anna asked hurriedly moving forward.

"What is it Mr. Yagami?" I asked.

"It's a monster." He said.

I looked to Anna and then to the boys who looked terrified, especially Near. "Anna says there's no such things as monster." Near said clutching his bear tighter.

"Please calm down. Remember you are not currently armed to defend yourself." I said ignoring Near's comment. What the hell was going on?

"Oh, of course." The chief said still sounding shaken.

"Chief, hang in there. Are you alright?" Mogi leaned down to help him up.

"Mogi, can't you see that thing over there?"

"Chief, I think you're getting tired." Mogi said and began to scream as well.

"Mogi, what's wrong?" Light asked.

"What the hell?" Anna asked watching the scene.

"That thing. It seems only the people who have touched the notebook can see this-this monster." The chief confessed.

"Please bring the notebook to the helicopter." I commanded.

"O-o-ok." Mogi rushed over and handed me the book, "Here you go, Ryuzaki."

I took it and then looked over to where the chief was. My heart almost stopped. "Love? Are you alright?" Anna reached out and touched my shoulder.

"It's really a Shinigami. They do exist." I muttered.

"What?" Anna asked, evidently she didn't hear me. She touched the book with the tips of her fingers and looked over to where I was staring lost in thought. "Oh my God."

Anna's POV

"Ryuzaki, come on let me see it!" I barely noticed Light reach across me and snatch away the book until he started screaming. My head snapped from the creature standing by the police car to Light.

"A-are you okay, Light? I suppose seeing that monster would surprise anyone." L said.

Light nodded, but I wasn't convinced. Something was a bit off about him. "Are you sure, Light. You look… different." I said reaching out to take the note from him.

He pulled it away, "I want to check this out. I want to compare the names with the list of victims."

I looked to L. Something wasn't right. "Oh, right. That sounds like a good idea." Light turned away from us.

I bit the inside of my cheek. I couldn't speak freely to anyone right now. Not with Light right here and the headset on. I also couldn't watch Light without being obvious, "Mr. Yagami, could you please escort Higuchi to the car?" I asked, tired. I just wanted this to be over.

"Yes, of course." I watched Mr. Yagami lead Higuchi away.

Mello's POV

I kept my eyes locked on Light. The notebook had seemed to affect him more so than anyone else who had touched it. I watched him mess with his watch when he was supposed to be matching names and I looked to Matt. He had noticed it too. "You know, about this notebook. I wonder what we would find if we put it through a forensics analysis." Light said casually. He looked to be writing something, but that was impossible.

"What?" Anna asked looking at him as if he were stupid.

"That doesn't sound like you, Light. This thing is beyond science." L said confused.

"Yeah, you're right." Light said. Suddenly, from where I was sitting I saw Higuchi fall over. Light smirked.

"Anna!" She looked back at me, a horror struck expression on her face. Matt and I pointed at our wrists, "It's in his watch! Light is Kira!"

Before anyone else could respond, Anna turned to block L from Light and pointed the gun L had given her earlier at Light's head, "Drop the book." Her voice was strange. It was a tone I'd never heard Anna use around us. She was usually gentle or excited, but this was cold and hard.

Anna's POV

I pointed the gun at Light, whose eyes widened. "Anna, put the gun down. This isn't funny."

"Good because it's not a joke. Drop the book. Don't make me say it again." Hesitantly, Light put down the notebook.

"What are you doing?" L mumbled to me.

I ignore him, "Light Yagami, you are under arrest under the suspicion of being Kira."

"Anna, this is insane." Light protested.

"I really don't think it is." I saw Light's hand twitched toward the door and I cocked the gun, "If you try to run, I'll consider you a threat to society and put a bullet in your head."

"Anna, I can't be Kira. There are rules. The death note has rules. Rules that prove me innocent." Light tried reasoning.

I tilted my head to the side, "So it's not just a notebook anymore, it's a death note. Interesting. It's also very funny you know there are rules when you were just looking at victim's names don't you think?" I asked. Light didn't answer. "Panic makes us say the craziest things. Mogi, could you bring me a pair of handcuffs?"

"On it." Mogi's voice came through the headset. Everything was quiet as I let Watari handcuff Light and move him to the back of the helicopter.

I took his seat and looked to L, "Case closed?"

He shook his head, "Not quite. I'd like to find out if there are more death notes in the world."

I laughed, "What are you going to do? Ask the Shinigami?"

L placed his thumb to his lip and looked at me, "That's not a bad idea. Everyone on task force, please meet back to task force. We'll be there shortly." With that, L took off to head back to headquarters.

Near's POV

We did it. We'd captures Kira. We won. We got back to headquarters. Anna said it was to put finishing touches on the case against Light, but she'd sent us all upstairs. Matt was tinkering with Light's watch as we sat watching through the glass. They task force was just below us going through the notebook. Anna had dubbed a few rules fake and the chief was looking increasingly green like he was going to be sick. She hasn't allowed us to touch it, saying she didn't want us to be scared. I didn't think that was a fair reason. If she didn't want us to be scared she should have let us see what this thing looked like. After all, what was scarier than the unknown? I rested my chin on top of my bear's little head and watched as more evidence built up against Light.

"Rem, was it? That's your name isn't it? The white thing over there?" L asked.

"Ryuzaki, isn't it a bit rude to go around calling someone a white thing?" Matsuda asked sounding frightened.

"Got it!" I turned to Matt who was staring at Light's watch as if it held the answers to all the world's questions. Which in a way, it did. He put it down and stood up, "Anna!" She looked up. "I did it!" She motioned for him to bring it down and we all went with him.

Anna took the watch from him and showed L. "He wrote down Higuchi's name. He must have been planning this from the start." Anna said and L nodded.

"I guess we can convict him."

"Hey, what's going to happen to me?" Misa asked. Anna looked to L and smiled.

Anna's POV

"Well, considering you did cooperate with us to catch Kira. I think we can just leave you out of our report. There was never a second Kira. You're free to go, Misa." Misa through her arms around me in a tight hug. I was startled at first, but hesitantly hugged her back. Misa really wasn't that bad once you removed Light from the equation.

She pulled away from me and smiled, "Do you want to hang out one more time before you leave? I have something I want to show you."

I looked back to L, who for the first time in what seemed like an eternity wasn't hand cuffed to Light. He simply shrugged, "Go, we can handle it." I nodded and let Misa led me up the stairs to her room.

Misa's POV

I couldn't believe it was over. I was finally cleared as the second Kira! I was still sad that Light didn't love me, but I had made a new friend and that was better than nothing. "What did you want to show me?" Anna asked.

"Hm? Oh, hold on." I said and pulled out a small album. "Here!"

Anna took the book and opened it. Her eyes widened and she looked up at me, "Misa, what is this?"

"A photo album! I wanted you to make one of our friendship so that you'd have something to remember me by. There aren't many pictures, but…" My voice trailed off and Anna looked up at me, her eyes were wet.

Her arms wrapped around me, "Thank you." She looked down, "You know, Misa. I kind of hated you when I met you, but I misjudged you. You're a good person. I know that once I leave we may never meet again, but I'm glad we could part as friends."

I smiled and put my hand on her shoulder, "Well, you helped me out a lot. You're the reason I'm not going to be executed. You also taught me a lot, Anna."

Anna looked at me, "Like what?"

"Like that I don't need Light to love me. You're the one who told me that lust isn't love. You taught me what love was. You changed me."

"That was very cliché."

"It's true, a lot of me is made from what I've learned from you. Now whatever way our stories end, I know you helped write mine. I don't know if I was changed for the better, but… I've been changed. I'm stronger now."

"I'm glad, Misa." She smiled at the album in her hands.

"Can I give you another makeover?" I asked hopefully

"Absolutely not."

Anna's POV

After hours of being with Misa, I finally left to go back to my room. It was far past midnight and I threw myself onto the bed, only to be startled by the presence of another body. "Ow, Anna."

I breathed a sigh of relief. It was only L. He sat up and turned on the light beside the table. "L, you scared me."

"Who else would you expect to find in your bed? Where have you been anyways? I was waiting for you."

I crossed my legs sitting next to him, "I was talking with Misa. Why were you waiting for me?" I asked.

He ran his hand through his already messy bedhead. "I couldn't sleep." L wrapped his arms around me, pulling me down with him onto the bed. We both laughed, trying to keep our voices down. His lips met mine chastely and he rested his forehead against mine, "You were great today."

"Yesterday." I corrected.

L frowned and pushed me, making me fall off the bed with a thump. "Oops."

"Good job, jerk." He leaned off the bed, offering me his hand to help me up. I took it and pulled him down with me, laughing loudly.

"That wasn't very nice." He said rubbing where he'd hit his head.

"You started it." I pointed out.

"No, you did." He said pushing me playfully. I pushed him back and he grabbed my wrist, pulling me to him and kissing me again this time a little more roughly. I giggled as he pulled me into his lap.

"Anna?" L and I poked our heads over the bed from our spot on the floor to see all three boys standing in the doorway.

I pushed myself away from L, knocking him over one last time. "What's up?" I asked standing up and sitting on the bed. L got up and sat on the bed next to me, casting me an annoyed look, but I ignored him.

"Can we stay here tonight?" Near asked, clutching my old bear.

"We want all of us together after today." Matt said.

I looked to L, who nodded reluctantly. "Of course you can." They all ran over to the bed and jumped in, getting under the sheets.

"I'm going to change." I announced before heading down the hall to the bathroom. After I changed and came out of the bathroom, I felt myself being pushed up against the door. I froze for a moment before I realized who it was. "You're trying to scare me to death." I accused.

He laughed and kissed my forehead, "No, there's just a lot of lost time to make up for." He mumbled.

I giggled and went on my tiptoes to kiss his lips lightly, "And we have forever to make it up."
