Chapter Twenty-Five

There had only ever been five moments in Aomine Daiki's life that had rendered him utterly speechless. This was one of them.

"Yo Daiki!" said Haru as he jumped off the table, "we've been waiting for you!"

Aomine looked at the two faces in front of him, one of them smug and all too pleased with himself, the other furious and demanding an explanation.

"Haru…" said Aomine, trying his best to remain calm, "what are you doing here?"

"Well you know," started the brunette, placing a hand on Kise's shoulder (a hand most likely to be snapped off if it wasn't removed soon), "after our little get together last night I just couldn't help but wonder how Kise was doing, so I thought I'd stop by. And boy am I glad that I did! How come you didn't tell me you were going to be a dad!?" The ecstatic brunette removed his hand and wrapped his arm around Aomine's shoulders, "congratulations man!" he said, tapping the bluenette on the back.

"Can I talk to you outside for a minute?"

"Sure. I need to get going anyway. See ya later Kise! It was nice seeing you again!"

"You too Haru" Kise smiled, though there was no warmth behind his words.

Aomine glanced at his boyfriend. He had not seen Kise this mad in ages.

"I'll be back in a minute" he said.

"It's ok. Take your time."

Aomine nodded and followed Haru out of the kitchen.

Once outside, he felt his anger instantly rise.

"What the fuck is going on Haru?! What the hell are you doing here?! I thought you were leaving today?!"

"Yeah, I lied" replied the brunette.

"What?!"

"Turns out moving to Osaka wasn't enough to cure their mixed up son, so my parents thought it best to ship me back here to stay with my uncle. And hopefully get all that homo stuff knocked out of me."

"Wait? What? I thought your uncle lived in Osaka?"

"Oh that? Yeah, that was a lie too. He lives here in Tokyo. In fact, it was his daughter that got married."

Aomine could not believe what he was hearing, "Jesus Haru! What the hell are you thinking!? You knew that I didn't want Kise to know about this! Do you have any idea how much shit you've got me in?!"

"That's not my fault is it?" responded Haru, "I must admit, I was surprised when you said you hadn't told him. And also a little offended. I do have my pride you know. But I figured you must have been hiding something and by that point I just had to find what it was. And wow. Who would've thought? Our very own Miracle Baby."

"I can't believe you. You haven't changed at all."

"Neither have you," Haru said, "you still lie to your boyfriend. Made the opportunity all the more interesting. Besides, you wouldn't be in this mess if you'd just said something in the first place instead of sneaking around and betraying your boyfriend's trust."

"Shut up," snarled Aomine, "I would never betray his trust. And i wasn't sneaking around. I just wanted to make sure that he wouldn't be dragged into any more of your shit. And who can blame me?"

"And look what happened. You know what they say; the road to hell is paved with good intentions. You can blame me all you want but the fact is, you lied to your boyfriend. More than once. And over something so…insignificant. How do you think he's gonna react?"

Aomine didn't say anything.

Haru sighed and turned to leave.

"Is anything you told me true?" asked Aomine.

Haru stopped walking and looked at his friend, "yes. My cousin did get married."

"When?"

Haru smiled, "three years ago. See ya around Daiki."

The bluenette shook his head in disbelief as he watched his friend disappear down the street.

Even though he was furious with Haru, the bluenette was even angrier at himself. Haru was just being Haru and he was idiot for not seeing it coming. However, he was an ever bigger idiot for lying about it. Haru was right. If it wasn't for him, he wouldn't be in this mess to begin with. In hindsight, Kise probably would've been ok with it. But as always, the realisation came all too late.

Aomine sighed, bracing himself for what lay ahead and after gathering as much courage as possible, he opened the front door.

The house was quiet. He found Kise sat on the couch in the living room, flipping through a magazine.

"Has he gone?" he asked, not looking at his boyfriend.

"Yeah"

"Good." Kise snapped shut the magazine and put it down next to him. He then looked into the eyes of the bluenette standing in the doorway and said, "yesterday after work, when you told me you were going shopping with Momoiichi, you met up with Haru instead didn't you?"

Aomine didn't say anything, only nodded.

"And the texts and phone-calls that were apparently 'nothing', they were all from him? God I am such an idiot."

"Kise-"

"You lied to me Aominecchi. You've been lying to me this entire time."

The look in his boyfriend's eyes was enough to make Aomine's heart break.

"I'm sorry Kise" Aomine said, his voice barely a whisper.

"Why didn't you tell me the truth?"

"I didn't want to cause you any more trouble. You've already got enough to deal with and I didn't want to add to it."

Kise closed his eyes and shook his head, "already got enough to deal with?" he slowly repeated, "didn't want to trouble me?" Kise rose from the couch and stood opposite Aomine, "who are you to decide what I can and can't handle? Did you honestly believe that I wouldn't be able to cope with one of your old flings coming to town? Am I really that fragile?"

"Of course not," responded Aomine, "I just thought it would be better if-"

"If what?!" Kise demanded, his voice now on the rise, "if you lied to me some more? That it would all just go away and I would never find out? And last night? When we made love? What was that? You come home feeling guilty or something? Did it ease your conscience?"

"Don't say that," Aomine retorted, "of course it wasn't like that! And I should've told you, I'm sorry, I was an idiot not to. But I promise you Kise, hurting you was the last thing I wanted."

"Well you have," Kise replied, tears gathering in the corners of his eyes, "I don't need you to protect me Aominecchi. Not over something so trivial as this. It's suffocating. I can take care of myself."

Aomine nodded, "I know you can."

"Then let me."

The room was filled with silence. Aomine slowly moved towards his boyfriend and gently wiped away the tears falling down Kise's cheeks.

"I'm sorry" whispered the bluenette, kneeling down in front of him and wrapping his arms around Kise's waste, his head resting on The Bump. "I'm so sorry."

Kise didn't say anything. He closed his eyes and felt his anger begin to fade. Aomine slowly lifted his jumper and began placing a line of delicate kisses across the curve of his stomach. He then stood up and placed a tender kiss on the blonde's lips.

Kise could feel his breathing becoming heavy and his heart start to race. After a couple of seconds, he slowly opened his eyes and stared into the ones looking back at him. He then wrapped his arms around Aomine's neck and kissed him.

Their lips barely parted as the bluenette lead them both to the couch.

"Haru's back?" exclaimed Momoi.

"Yep," said Aomine, lying on the gym stage and spinning a basketball on his index finger above his head.

"For how long?"

"Who knows? When his parents decide they want him back."

"Shit…"

It was lunch time and the two friends had decided to spend it together in the sports hall.

"Does Kise know?" asked the pink haired girl, sitting down next to her friend with her feet dangling over the edge.

"Yep"

"And how'd he take it?"

"Well, considering I've been lying to him for the past three days, he took it pretty much how you'd expect."

Momoi let out an exasperated sigh, "for fuck sake Daiki! When are you going to learn? Let me guess, you lied because you thought you were protecting Kise's feelings, am I right?"

"Something like that…" responded the bluenette as he attempted to balance the ball on his nose.

"You do this every time. You-" Momoi could tell she didn't have Aomine's full attention so she snatched the ball from him and threw it off the stage. "Are you listening?" she demanded, climbing on top of him and pinning his arms by his side.

"Do I have a choice?" Aomine smirked.

"I'm being serious!" Momoi pouted, punching Aomine in the arm, "you need to stop bubbling him!"

"I am not-"

"You are. And you do. Look how much things have been blown out of proportion because of it! I know you're worried about him and the baby but watching his every move and treating him like glass is only going to make things worse. He can take care of himself. And he can certainly handle Haru." After a brief pause Momoi continued, "you need to start trusting him."

"I do trust him," said Aomine, "and I know he can take care of himself. I'm just so scared that something might happen to them; something that I might have been able to prevent. But you're right…" he sighed, "I've been acting like a total idiot."

"A little bit," Momoi smiled, "but it's normal to worry. And you can still protect them just…be more subtle about it."

Aomine looked at the girl sitting on top of him.

"When did you become so wise?" he asked.

"Hmm…" pondered Momoi, "right around the time you became so dumb. So always."

"Oh really?" laughed the bluenette.

Momoi stuck out her tongue and climbed off the stage. She picked up the basketball she had thrown and started bouncing it in front of her.

"So," she said, "did you guys make up?"

"Yep" replied Aomine as he too jumped down,"on his couch."

"Eww" said Momoi, tossing the ball to Aomine, "too much information."

Aomine laughed and slammed the ball into the basket before following her out of the gym.

"Yoshizawa Haru?" said Kasamatsu, "you mean Aomine's ex-boyfriend?"

"Ex-boyfriend. Ex-neighbour. Ex-fuck buddy. Whatever you wanna call him" replied Kise.

The pair were in the sports hall, sat on one of the benches having lunch whilst the rest of the team practiced for the upcoming match on the court next to them.

"Wait, wasn't he the one who caused all that shit between you and Aomine two years ago?" asked the Kaijou captain.

"Yep. That would be him."

"And he's back?"

"Looks like it."

"For how long?"

"No idea."

"Wow…"

"Wow indeed" said Kise as he absentmindedly picked at his food, "I just don't get why Aominecchi didn't tell me! And why he felt like he had to lie about it?!"

"Well, maybe he knew it would make you mad?"

"What? Haru? Seriously, give me some credit. No, what frustrates me the most is the thought of him thinking that I can't handle things myself. I mean, ever since finding out that I'm pregnant, people are either ignoring me or treating me like a ticking time bomb. It's like they're walking on egg shells when I'm around and it's driving me crazy! And the fact that Aominecchi's doing it just makes it worse," the blonde took a breath before continuing, "and then of course I go and over react which doesn't help. I can feel myself getting angrier and angrier and then BOOM. I can't control it! It happens every time we fight and it's usually over something so stupid. And then he plants the moves on me on my own couch and expects everything to be ok afterwards. Well sorry, it doesn't work that way. No sir."

"Well at least you know now," said Kasamatsu pretending he hadn't heard the last part, "and you said so yourself that you can handle Haru, so him being here isn't that big of a deal right?"

"No not really…"

"Exactly. What's done is done. We all know that baka boyfriend of yours would never do anything intentional to hurt you. He just needs to back off a bit and give you some space. But he won't know that unless you tell him. And you have, so everything should be ok now right?"

"I guess so..." Kise sighed, "thanks senpai."

"No problem" smiled Kasamatsu. He was beginning to feel a lot like an agony aunt.

"Right senpai, I think I'm gonna head to class" said Kise, picking up his bag.

"Already? The bell hasn't rang yet."

"No, but I need the loo and I wanna get there before the corridors become too crowded."

"Ok" said Kasamatsu. He watched silently as his friend packed away his half eaten lunch. Usually Kise demolished his food but recently the blonde had started leaving a bit more every day.

"What do you have next senpai?"

"Well, we have fourth period free, so we're gonna practice for the game on Thursday, then I have English. What about you?"

"History then maths."

Kise zipped up his bag and stood up.

"Right then, I'll see you…whoa…" Kise closed his eyes and grabbed onto the bench in an attempt to stop the sudden dizziness he was experiencing.

"Kise?" queried a concerned Kasamatsu, "you ok?"

"I'm fine…" said the blonde, "it'll be over in a minute…" However despite his words, the dizziness didn't stop. He sat on the bench, placed one hand on his stomach and held the other against his forehead.

"You're pale. I'm going to get the coach-"

"No! Wait, just wait a minute."

"Kise, you don't look well! We should take you to the nurse!"

"I said I'm fine senpai! See!" Kise slowly pushed himself off the bench, "all better. Don't worry about me."

Kasamatsu did not look convinced.

"Right, I've got to go, see ya senpai!"

"Ok…bye…"

Kise kept his eyes fixed on the floor whilst making his way to class, determined not to throw up in the middle of the corridor. However, in the attempt to ease the queasy feeling in his stomach, Kise wasn't really paying attention to anyone else around him and therefore did not notice the 6ft tall brunette he consequently ended up bumping into.

"Watch it freak!"

"Sorry" apologised Kise as he bent down to pick up his bag. As he went to stand, he was overcome with another wave of dizziness, causing him to fall to his knees and bury his head in his hands. The world was starting to blur and Kise could just make out the muffled voices of those around him. He was trying his hardest not to panic and to steady his breathing, but for some reason, it didn't seem to be working.

...se?

ise!?

"Kise!?"

Kise slowly opened his eyes and saw Keiji kneeling down in front of him.

"Kise? Are you ok? Should I take you to the nurse?"

It took Kise a couple of seconds before he realised what was going on.

"I'm fine," he said with a weak smile, "I don't need the nurse. This is normal, don't worry."

It doesn't look normal, thought the brown haired lad, noting the ashen shade of Kise's cheeks.

"I think I'm ok now…" said the blonde as he started to rise. Keiji hooked one arm underneath and helped his friend to his feet.

"Are you sure you're ok? You really don't look well. Maybe you should lie down?"

"I'm fine Keiji. I promise. Don't worry about me," Kise replied, "thankyou."

"No problem…"

Kise smiled and continued heading to class.

Despite things not getting any worse throughout the rest of the day, they certainly didn't get any better either and by the time Kise got home, his head was pounding and he went straight to bed.

He woke up five hours later feeling much better than before, albeit still rather tired. He sat up and looked around the darkened room. He checked his flashing phone and found he had eight missed phone-calls and five text messages; all from Aomine. The blonde was surprised he'd slept through them all.

As he was typing his reply, there was a light knock at his door.

"Ryouta?"

"Come in dad."

The door opened and Hiroshi stepped into the room.

"Are you ok? I came home and you were fast asleep."

"I'm fine" Kise reassured.

"Ok…Aomine-kun rang. I told him you were sleeping. He's worried about you. Did something happen between the two of you?"

"No, nothing happened. Just the usual. I'll text him now and let him know I'm ok."

"Ok, dinner will be ready in five minutes"

"OK, thanks dad." And with that Hiroshi closed the door and headed downstairs.

The blonde's phone beeped and Kise watched it run out of battery and die in his hand. He sighed and made his way over to his desk. He opened the top drawer and began to search for his charger.

He plugged in his phone and was about to close the drawer when he spotted something in the corner of his eye. He reached into the drawer and pulled out the yellow post-it note sticking out from between two books. His eyes went wide as his mind flashed back to over a month ago in Nakamura-sensei's office, the day he requested to stay on at school.

"You may not be the first pregnant carrier here at Kaijou, but you are the first pregnant carrier to choose to stay with us throughout the course of the pregnancy."

"You mentioned earlier that I'm the first male pregnant carrier to continue with school..."

"Yes I did"

"…so there was someone else? Who got pregnant but decided to drop out?"

"Yes there was. In fact it happened not so long ago. He's a year younger than you and by my estimations he'd be around 4 months now."

"Please sensei, could you tell me his name and where I can reach him?"

"Unfortunately you understand of course, that due to student-teacher confidentiality I can't give out that sort of information…I can however give you the name of the support group he was attending last time I spoke to his aunt? I'm not sure if he still attends but I'm sure you would also find the group very useful."

Kise had forgotten all about the meeting with his head-teacher and the address he had given him. He could feel his heart start to pound and his excitement levels rise as he stared at the square piece of paper in his hand. This was his chance. The chance to finally meet someone his own age who could understand exactly what he was going through. Someone who would know what it feels like to be a pregnant male teenager.
