Jacob sits on my bed, his head in his hands, his shirt left behind at his house. I'm leaning against my wall with my arms folded.
"I don't want you to go," he tells me. I sigh, looking down at my bare feet. Charlie and Bella are both busy and out of the house, so I'm all alone at home with Jacob. Not that that's a bad thing.
"Jacob, I thought we talked about this. I need to be there." I replied. He stood up, making his way over to my dresser, looking at the pictures of me on it with his back to me on the other side of the room. He runs a shaky hand through his hair. The training in the woods starts pretty soon. We had said that I would go with him to watch the fighting, but now he's backing out.
I push my glasses up and wait for him to respond, but he doesn't. I do instead. "Didn't you say that you would never let me out of your sight again?" Still no reaction.
"I could get more hurt staying home than going with you!" Nothing.
"Come on, even my wimpy sister is going! You can't leave me here!" I say, making my way towards him.
I put a light hand on his burning shoulder, taking a deep breath. Shouting isn't going to do any good. I rest my forehead on where his tattoo is and wrap my arm around his back to his side.
I feel his head turn my way and I feel his lips touch my hair. I look up at him as he turns around to fully face me. Then I admit why I really want to go.
"I'm just… worried. Concerned." I look down my feet. Jacob's hand takes my chin and pushes my face up to meet his eyes. His other arm wraps around my waist, while my arm around his back grabs a hold of his bicep.
"What are you concerned about?" He asks, his eyebrows drawn together. Instead of answering him, I reach up on my tiptoes, pressing a gentle kiss on his lips. He kisses back eagerly, and slowly begins to deepen the kiss, sliding a hand into my hair.
Soon enough, I feel my back pressed up against the nearest wall. One hand of mine is absently tracing the tones on his stomach and chest, while the other one is digging into his hair. It surprises me when I give it a little tug, and he softly growls deep in his throat.
My nail lightly trails on one of the creases in his abs, and he draws me impossibly closer with another shaky breath coming from him. I gasp when I feel the tip of his tongue trail across my bottom lip, asking for entrance. I part my lips.
Just as I feel it might be getting a little too much, I hear a slamming on my bedroom door. Bella must have come home for something. I peel my lips away from his, panting for air. All I can look at are his dark eyes. Another slam on the door makes Jacob step away.
Still breathless, I walk over to the door, opening it only a crack. My sister stands there with her arms stubbornly folded across her chest.
"What do you want?" I demand.
"I know Jacob's in there with you. Edward wanted me to remind him that the meeting is in about 30 minutes." And with that, she turns around and heads back to her room down the hall. I turn around and lean against the door, crossing my arms across my chest.
I hear Jacob's bare feet padding on the ground, making his way towards me. He swallows my hands in his when he grabs them.
"You can go. But I'm not letting you out of my sight. And you have to always stay by my side."
I grin and nod, standing on my tiptoes to give him a peck on the lips.
"Thank you, Jacob." He grins back at me. I hear Bella yell at me from downstairs and I grab my jacket from my bed before racing down to meet her with Jacob's hand grasped in mine.
When we get to the tree line, Jacob goes behind the trees where I can't see him and shifts into a wolf. He steps out with his tongue sticking out of his mouth. I walk up to him, threading my fingers through his fur. He drags his tongue up my cheek and I pull back, laughing.
He lays down on the forest floor, and I swing a leg over his back. He stands up almost immediately after I'm on him, and I grip his russet brown fur as he takes off into the woods with my face buried into his neck.
After about 20 minutes of racing past trees and my hair flying everywhere from the wind, Jacob slows his pace. We've arrived in an area that's small, but big enough for them to all fight. Jacob lays down again, and I climb off of him, surveying the area.
The vampires and other wolves are already "talking," I guess. They give us a quick glance before continuing their conversation. We've taken the spot next to the wolves in the front. Edward seems to be the only one talking to the wolves since he can read minds, and it's not like the wolves are able to talk.
They finish up the "conversation" rather quickly, and before I know it, they've started fighting. The vampires fight it out first, and I have to admit, these moves could really kill. People, of course, and vampires. And wolves…
I rest my head on Jacob's side. He's so freakishly tall, I'm actually able to. He leads me up to a small ledge that we sit on that overlooks the rest of the area. I sit with my legs crossed, watching down, and he lays down next to me, putting his head in between his paws.
I run my hand over his fur, petting him. I smile lightly when I hear a purring noise start to come from his chest. I look over at the fight going on right now, between the big, burly vampire, and now Sam has stepped in. At least, I think the really big black one is Sam. At one point during the fight, Sam gets thrown across the forest and into a tree. It does more damage to the tree, but it still pulls a gasp out of my lips.
I close my eyes tight and turn my head, not wanting to watch anymore. It makes me feel nauseous thinking that people might get even worse injuries than getting thrown into a tree. And for me and my sister. Jacob might die, or anybody else, or even more people, fighting this newborn army. And for what? For basically nothing.
Jacob must have felt my hand stop moving over his back. He gives a low whine that causes me to open my eyes. I meet his dark brown ones, the same ones that I was staring into just an hour or so ago. The same pair of eyes that I never want to see fade. They're filled with concern and love.
I give him a tight smile and shake my head, silently telling him that it's nothing. He tilts his head and gives me a sarcastic look, which is pretty funny on a wolf. I chuckle and start to pet his back again. I shrug.
"I'm just worried," I whisper to him, trying to make it sound like it's not a big deal. It really is, but I don't want Jacob to worry about me worrying, if that makes sense.
He leans up and licks my cheek again and gives me a big wolf grin, as if to say, "Don't worry. Everything's going to be fine," like he always says nowadays. I just wish I could believe him.
