- Avenged Sevenfold (2010)

Annabeth didn't know for how long she was locked inside her room's secret closet. She didn't know how long she would be force to be in the dark with Piper, Silena, Aphrodite, Hazel, Reyna's daughter, her parents and Thalia. There were pillows and blankets to get comfortable, but it wasn't enough for the princess. She wanted to see the light of the sun again. She wanted to see her brother to make sure he was alive. She long to see Leo, Jason, Nico, and even the Stoll brothers. But Annabeth wanted to so desperately find Percy and run away from this terrible fate. The prophecy given to them has come true in ways Annabeth should've known.

A beauty will grow, young and wise.
Along with someone who's strong,
Loving, and protective of family.

Annabeth grew up to be wise and she was still young. She hasn't even reached eighteen yet, barely turning seventeen in July. She didn't consider herself a beauty though, other people would say otherwise. Percy has defiantly come a long way though. From being small and weak, Percy has defiantly gone though a change. Not only has he grown to care for his mother, but he was very loyal to his friends and the kingdom. So Annabeth guessed that counted as the loving part that's mentioned in the prophecy.

Their love will be strong.
A bride will walk down the aisle to face her doom
An enemy will show in the ceremony of union upon the hand of his brother

As far as the princess knew, her love for Percy was strong. It was unbreakable. Even when she was almost forced to marry Octavian, she still loved Percy. However, on the day of the wedding, Octavian was revealed to be the prince of France in front of everyone. His own twin brother, the one Annabeth and Percy found in the woods with Rachel, was none other than Luke. The exiled prince of France.

Almost half of the prophecy came true, yet there was more to it.

Battle will break, along with hearts

People will die during the war. There was no denying it.

Someone close to the royal family shall perish with the thunder.

This scared Annabeth. It can be anyone who is considered to be an honorary member of the Chase family. Percy, Thalia, Jason, maybe even Sally. Annabeth prayed it would be neither of them. They have impacted so much of Annabeth's life.

A kingdom will fall for another to rise.

For someone who supposedly grew up to be wise, Annabeth wasn't sure what the last sentence of the prophecy meant. Clearly, it meant that a kingdom will be destroyed but it couldn't be the Chase kingdom. It would be to obvious. Yet, what does it mean that another will rise?

"Annabeth?" The princess turns to her friend Piper. She was holding Reyna's sleeping daughter, Julia. "Do you want any bread? Your mom managed to sneak some from the kitchen earlier."

The princess felt her stomach grumble in hunger. She hasn't eaten anything in the morning, since the French attacked unexpectedly.

"Can I have a slice?" Piper smiled and carefully handed Annabeth a piece of bread. Trying not to wake up Julia as she did.

Both girls jumped at the sound of another cannonball being shot somewhere. Piper shushed Julia and the child immediately went back to sleep.

Piper sighs, "Just when me and Jason finally reconciled, he's sent off to war."

Annabeth knew about her friend's relationship with her husband being a little rocky. What she knew from Piper was that they made up and went to bed together, but were woken up by the sound of men in the hallways. Knocking on their bedroom door, demanding Jason's presences in the battle field. The couple were separated again and Piper had a fear that it can be permanent.

"It's going to be alright, Piper." Annabeth assured her friend. "If there's one thing I know about Jason, is that he's tough and smart. He's not going to get himself killed out there if he had the chance."

Despite of the small amount of light in the room, Annabeth can see Piper forming a smile on her lips.

Athena walks towards the girls, holding out a blanket. "Here," she says. "Its getting cold in here and you need to stay warm."

The queen was still bitter about her children staying in England instead of sailing off into the unknown. However, Annabeth still accepts the blanket with a small smile.

"Thanks."

Athena nods and walks away to sit down next to her husband and Aphrodite. Who was brushing Silena's hair. The young soon to be mother hasn't said a word since Charles left to fight. She was simply rubbing her big tummy, humming a song. Thalia, who was also in the same room as them, joins the two girls.

"I hate this," Thalia hissed, throwing her dagger on the ground. "I hate just sitting around and being the damsel in distress. I should be out there fighting with my little brother and making sure that the others don't get themselves killed."

"You're a lady, Thalia." Spoke Aphrodite. "Ladies don't get involved in these kinds of things. I admire your bravery, but your kingdom in Scotland needs an heir. Anything could happen to Jason and Zeus just needs to have someone to take over the throne when he's no longer capable of doing it himself."

"Are you trying to say that Jason is going to die?" Piper snapped, glaring at her mother.

Annabeth noticed Julia waking up and takes the child away from Piper. She shushed the girl and she quickly drifts off into sleep again.

Thalia lowered her glance at Aphrodite. "How dare you speak in such a way in front of royalty? Don't you have any shame?"

"I'm not ashamed that my daughters picked their partners well. I am more than proud. I am just saying that women shouldn't go out and fight. It's what my sister did and now look at where she is. Or wait, no you don't because she's buried in the ground!" Aphrodite bursted out in tears, covering her face with her hands.

Silena comforted her mother, muttering "I'm sorry," to everyone else.

Piper didn't say anything or did anything. Instead, she sat on the ground and began to pray silently.

Percy didn't know for how long they were fighting for, but it felt like a decade. He stabs his victim in the chest and twists his sword around, making the wound impossible to heal.

"Nice one, Jackson!" Jason commented, also finishing a kill.

Both commanders run to fight off another pair of French soldiers. Leo could've been killed if Percy and Jason hadn't come to aid him. They stabbed the two knights, kicking them onto the ground. They choked their final breath and then removed their swords from their chest.

Leo got up from the ground, brushing off the dirt. "Thanks, I thought I was a dead man."

"We all will be if we don't keep those assholes away from the castle." Percy dodges an arrow that was shot straight towards him. "Move, it's not safe here."

"Agreed," said both boys in unison. They ran down the hill and joined the other men in battle.

The more men they killed, more appeared in a blink of an eye. Percy watched in the corner of his eye to see his soldiers fall one by one. Luckily, none of his friends have been thrown onto the end of the sword, but others like Michael Yew weren't lucky. Just like his father, Michael fell in battle.

Luke was near the knight when he was stabbed. "Michael!" In full anger, he charges towards the French man who killed Michael and stabs him with his dagger multiple times.

All the hate he felt towards his brother, his father, and to his country, he was pouring it all out on this man. Who probably killed to protect himself or because he was simply following orders. Luke looked around the bloody scene.

Watching swords clash and more soldiers fall, when suddenly someone shouted, "Retreat!" It was a man from the French army. "Retreat!" He shouted again.

It was amazing how easily the army heard the commands and they quickly ran back into the woods. Leaving behind their destruction.

"What the hell was that?" Tyson asked, wiping the blood off his hands in his coat.

Luke shrugged, not know why they retreated. It was a good thing though, a few more minutes and they would've gone into the castle.

"I don't know," Luke looks around. "But we sure got a good number of those bastards."

"And they got a good number of us." Tyson said, pointing at the other side of the field. "Look."

Luke didn't want to see what Tyson was pointing out. He knew that if he didn't, he'll be in denial until they burned the bodies in a pit. Slowly, he turns around and sees the horror before him. At least one hundred bodies were scattered around the open fields. Most of them had swords or daggers stuck to their bodies, while others had wounds that were cut so deep, nothing can heal it.

Jason, Percy, Leo, and Nico all walked towards the former prince of France. All of them expected this massacre to happen, yet they were surprised of the amount of French soldiers they had defeated.

Nico was the first to walk towards an enemy's body. He removes the helmet, seeing the man had died with his eyes open. Nico sighs, closing the dead man's eyes with his fingers.

"I say we should take their weapons and find any survivors of ours. Any wounded men should be taken immediately to the infirmity and be taken care of by the nurses."

"Shouldn't we also help the wounded French soldiers?" Tyson asked.

Luke shook his head. "We can't help the men who want to kill us like we're animals. Show no sympathy."

"But-"

"Tyson," Percy muttered. "Let it go, brother." He pats Tyson's shoulder and with heavy hearts, the brothers walk away from the dead body and began to find any wounded soldiers.

As the two men walked away, no one noticed that a French knight was slowly awakening. He was still holding a tight grip on his bow and had one more arrow left. It was enough to make the last kill. Without making much noise, the man slowly lifts up his weapon and points it straight at Percy.

Charles, who was near Percy, saw the man pointing his arrow.

"Watch out!" Charles shouted, running towards Percy and Tyson, pushing them out of the way.

Malcolm was the one to take out his family from their shelter. It didn't take long for them to all get out, for they mostly craved the cold wind to hit their hot skin.

Silena and Aphrodite were the last to get out, as they took their time. Annabeth wasted no time and ran towards her brother, hugging him tightly to make sure he was real.

"Are the other's okay?" Annabeth whispered, referring to Percy more in general.

"We're all okay."

Piper looked around, but didn't see her husband. "Where's Jason?"

The prince suddenly became nervous, not knowing what to say. Although Jason is fine, the prince of Scotland was in the infirmity for a different reason. For someone else to be exact.

Piper saw the sadness in Malcolm's eyes. She began to expect the worse has happened.

Piper puts her hand over her heart, "Malcolm.." She muttered.

"Jason is fine," Malcolm immediately said. "It's just that...Silena, come with me."

Silena's heart began to beat faster than usual. "Why? What's going on? Is Charles alright? Tell me now!"

"Don't stress yourself out," said Annabeth. "Remember about the baby."

Malcolm didn't say anything but took Silena's arm and guided her through the castle, with everyone following behind. Malcolm couldn't tell Silena what had happened, he couldn't find the words to explain. Aphrodite suddenly felt herself growing worried for her daughter. Piper took her sister's hand, giving it a small squeeze to remind Silena that she was still here for her, no matter what.

Everyone walks into the infirmity, not prepared for what they were about to see. Each bed was occupied by at least one solider and a view villagers. All with bloody injuries on their arms or legs, even by their sides.

Silena noticed that the ones with minor injuries were in the front of the rooms, while the ones with major injuries were in the back. It took a moment to realize that Malcolm brought her here to see Charles and he was nowhere near the front.

She chokes back a sob, "Where is he?"

"Last bed on the right in the back," said Malcolm. "I should warn you though, the arrow is still stuck in his chest and they will pull it out until the doctor arrives."

Silena was already walking away from them as Malcolm was explaining. She just wanted to see her fiancé. Charles bed was surrounded by white sheets. Slowly, Silena pulled apart the covers to see not only Jason, but Percy, Leo, and Calypso surrounding the bed.

Charles tries to get up once he felt Silena's presences, but was gently pushed back by Calypso.

"You need to be laying down," Calypso ordered. "The doctor will be here very soon."

"Silena," Charles breathed out. "Silena."

Silena walked towards her fiancé taking his hand. "Oh, Charlie. What on earth happened?"

"I took an arrow to the chest if that's what you wanted to know." Charles chuckled, but groaned at the pain.

"A French solider was still alive when we were searching for survivors," Percy explained. "He was about to shoot an arrow at me and Tyson. I- we would've been killed...if Charles hadn't pushed me away."

Silena looks at Percy and Tyson, who wouldn't make eye contact with her. Silena let's go of Charles hand and goes to hug Percy and Tyson. At least feeling happy that they were alive and well. She turns back to her husband and knees down by the side of the bed.

"How are you feeling though?"

Charles smiled, squeezing Silena's hand gently. "Not bad, the wound feels like fire but I feel alright. Blacksmith remember?"

Calypso wrote down this information. "The doctor should be here soon. Excuse me." The nurse leaves the group alone to go check on other patients.

As she checked on the ones that weren't so wounded, she happened to see Mitchell. He was kneeing down at the side of the bed, holding the hand of dead solider, Michael Yew. He was found half alive/half dead in the battle field, but passed away twenty minutes later. After he was brought in by the other men.

Mitchell was silently weeping for his decreased friend, never being able to thank him for all that he has done.

Calypso coughed to get Mitchell's attention. "I need to cover his body with the sheets for the digger can collect him." The digger was a man who came to the infirmity every once in awhile to collect any dead bodies and bury them in a hill near the village.

The knight nodded his head in understand meant, kissing Michael's knuckles and taking his ring that was on his lift hand.

"It belonged to our dad," he said. "He would've wanted his wife to have it through."

"You two are brothers?" Calypso asked, not even seeing the resemblance.

"Half," Mitchell quickly added. "Turns out we share the same mom. Only me and my sister, Lacy, have the same parents. It's complicated."

Calypso smiles, "Sounds like it is."

Mitchell looks at his brother for one more time and watches Calypso cover Michael's body with the bedsheets.

"It was a terrible plan to attack them in the daylight," exclaimed Edward, walking into the tent where his son Octavian was studying battle strategies. "We should've attacked at night since they wouldn't be expecting it. Now they would be ready for any time of the day!"

Octavian didn't bother to look up as his father yelled at him. He continued to write down a few notes, until looking up at Edward. Folding his arms against his chest.

"The English aren't as low minded as we thought." Spoke Octavian. "They have a secret weapon and I am determined to get it."

Edward raises a brow. "What secret weapon? They don't have anything against us." Or do they?

"Princess Annabeth and Lady Piper," Octavian tried to keep a straight face, as he remembered how soft Piper's body felt against his. "The army has a commander known as, Percy Jackson. During my stay here I found out his fatal flaw was loyalty. A deadly flaw if you ask the other knights. Taking his beloved princess and friend would make him weak."

"But the greatest heroes in history had to give up their loved ones for the kingdom. Your great grandfather sacrificed his wife and family to save our kingdom from those filthy Greeks. He then simply remarried to continue the royal bloodline."

Octavian didn't need to be told this story. He's heard it many times from his mother when she would tuck him to bed when he was younger. It wasn't Octavian's favorite story but Luke always wanted to hear it every night. Of course, Luke being their mother's little angel, she wouldn't deny his plead.

"Do you wish to marry princess Annabeth despite of her heritage?"

Octavian sighs, rolling his eyes. "I simply want to use that girl as the sacrifice Percy Jackson will have to make if he wants to save the kingdom."

Edward nodded in understanding Octavian's plans. "You also mentioned kidnapping Annabeth's friend? What significance is she to you? Percy's sister?"

"As far as I'm concerned, she has no blood relations to the royal family or to Percy. She is the wife to the royal of prince Scotland, Jason Grace. She is carrying my child, meaning she is also carrying the future heir of my kingdom. After I burn the Chase castle of course."

"Yet she's married to Jason?" Edward needed the brains to run the kingdom, but he couldn't figure out what his son was trying to say.

The prince of France grabbed a knife from his pocket and stabbed the table. "I'll do what you did to mother's old little protector. Exterminate him."

Silena held on to Charles hand as the doctor tried to remove the arrow from his chest. He screamed and screamed, until Will stopped putting pressure on the wound.

Reyna handed the knight a piece of cloth so he can wipe the sweat from his forehead.

"It's deeper than I thought," commented Will, looking at Silena. "May I have a word with you, Silena?"

She looks at Charles and then at the doctor. "Of course." Silena kisses Charles forehead and follows the doctor to table. He helps Silena sit down and then takes a seat himself.

Will takes a deep breath, wiping his hands on the cloth that was given to him. "There is no easy way to say this or explain it perfectly." He began.

"What is it, Will?" Silena asked. She places her hands on her belly, feeling the baby kick.

The young knight shouldn't be here. He shouldn't be the one to break the news to Silena about Charles.

"The arrow in Charles chest is really deep inside of him. Me and Reyna are worried that if we remove the arrow, it will cause him to bleed out and eventually die from bloodless. That arrow, is literally keeping Charles from losing blood."

Silena didn't know what to say. There were two options. Keep the arrow and allow Charles die in a painful slow way or remove the arrow and let him die from blood loss. Both options would result in Charles dying. Silena didn't know what would be best for him.

Will noticed Silena feeling troubled and grabs her hand. "Look, I know you are conflicted. Trust me, so are me and Reyna. But there's a chance we can save him with the arrow removed."

"How?"

"We have to work quickly and stitch him right as the arrow is removed. The possibility of saving him is slightly, but I know that we can do it."

Silena removes her hand from Will, staring at her wedding ring. She didn't know what to do. This was her lovers life on the line.

"I know you're scared, but I honestly believe this is the best option that we have. Unless you want us to give him some herbs and allow him to pass peacefully in his sleep. No pain. No suffering. Your call, Silena."

The young women feels her baby kick again and she smiles. Thinking about Charles teaching their baby how to walk and talk in front of their home. She can already imagine having a boy and making Charles so happy. He didn't care what gender the baby was as long as it was healthy, but Silena knew that deep down, Charles wanted a boy. Silena wanted a girl, but she didn't care what she got for a child.

She also thought about their wedding they planned to have. Her dress, his suit, the garden. They planned to marry after she gives birth, after the war. Both planned so much, it would be a waste if they threw at all away. So Silena made her decision.

With a deep sighed, Silena says, "Do the best that you can, Will."

Will nods his head and orders for Reyna, Calypso, to arrive to the back of the room.

Bianca and Apollo help the last wounded solider to climb on the wagon, to be transported to the castle. The solider thanks them and then the wagon begins to move.

Bianca picks up her quiver and now from the ground, dusting them off. "That's the last of them in this area," she says.

Apollo smiles, also picking up his quiver and bow. "Thank the heavens. I thought there would be more to be honest."

"I hoped there would've been more. That way we can heal the less wounded and they can continue to fight in the war."

The blonde man saw the angry tears appear in the maiden's eyes. "What troubles you, Bianca?"

Bianca closes her eyes, "So many dead warriors. To many of them gone and for what price? Freedom from the cold days or from what is yet to come?" Then she looks around. "Nico. Where's Nico?"

She ran towards the castle, screaming her brothers name. Apollo runs towards the girl, grabbing her from behind.

"Bianca, Nico is fine!" He yelled over her shouts. "He's alive!"

The girl stopped staring into Apollo's blue eyes. "He is? How do you know?"

"While you were checking the woods, me and Nico were ordered to search the barns, just to make sure no French soldiers got in and chickened out of the fight." He chuckled when they actually did find two, both ending up dead by Nico's sword.

"Any bruises?"

"None."

"Cuts?"

"Zero- well one on his arm but nothing to serious. I stitched it up after searching."

That was enough for Bianca. She grabs Apollo by the neck and lowers him down to her size. Her lips smashed against Apollo's lips and it was the most magical moment in both their lives. Bianca has never kissed anyone in her life. She hasn't met the proper boy who deserved her time and attention, unlike Apollo. He has captured her heart since the day she heard him sing and saved her from the bear. She was just to afraid to admit her feelings for him. What she didn't know was that Apollo was afraid to also admit his feelings for her. It was the first time he ever felt something for a girl before and it scared him. He was the kind of guy who went around and got around, never settling down for a relationship. Until he met Bianca of course.

It has been his goal to woo the young maiden and take her virginity, but things change. Feelings began to grow and eventually it becomes into something more.

Although they wanted the kiss to last forever, both pulled away to get air. Bianca smiles at Apollo, kissing the tip of his nose.

Apollo takes her hand and both leave the battlegrounds, heading towards the castle.

Silena watches helplessly as Will and the nurses were preparing their tools to remove the arrow from Charles. Piper and Aphrodite stood on each side of Silena, holding her hand. Neither of them know what will happen, but they wanted to stand by Silena and help her get through the worst.

Will puts on an apron and walks towards the three. "Silena, do you wish to talk to Charles? Just in case anything happens..."

She nods her head and let's go of Piper's and Aphrodite's hand. She walks towards Charles, bed kneeing down by his side. He was staring at the ceiling, not knowing that Silena was by his side.

"I need you to stay strong," Silena whispers, taking his hand. "I want you to fight throughout this. I need you to stay strong. If you do that, I promise to do the same, Charles."

Charles remainder quiet, squeezing Silena's hand. He's breathing becomes slow, but Silena remained faithful. She continued, "Don't do this only for me. Do it for our child."

"Our child," Charles hand drifted to Silena's stomach, feeling a small kick. "I'm going to fight. For you and for our daughter. I love you, Silena."

"I love you too, Charlie," Silena kisses her husband and is then asked to wait with her sister and mother.

Waiting was absolute hell for all three of them. Hearing the screams of someone they cared about wasn't written on their to do list.

Aphrodite looked at her oldest daughter, noticing the tears in her eyes.

"You can leave if you want," Aphrodite reminded the young girl. "You don't have to hear it anymore."

Silena shook her head, "I need to stay strong! I need to stay strong for Charles."

Piper wrapped her arm around her sister's shoulders, closing her eyes to shut out the screams. Fifteen minutes became an hour, until the screams finally stopped. Shouts were heard instead, but it was Will shouting orders to hurry up. Silena felt her heart race each second Will continued to shout orders. Until her heart completely stopped and it suddenly became quiet. So quiet that she can hear the wind blowing outside.

Will slowly emerges from the curtains they put around Charles bed. His apron was covered in blood, along his arms and pants.

Silena immediately stood up from her chair, nearly knocking down her sister in the progress.

"Will, tell me," Silena insisted. "Is he alive?"

Will stares at Silena for a moment, before he takes a deep breath. Silena looks in the corner of eye, Reyna and Calypso cleaning up with a emotionless face. She then notices Reyna pulling up the sheet. Will didn't need to answer Silena. She already knew.

"No...no!" Silena screams, falling to ground on her knees. "Charles!"

Piper immediately knelt down to her sister, holding her tightly. Aphrodite also broke down in tears, heartbroken of the young man's departure.

Reyna covered Charles body, making sure to dispose the arrow that marked his end in the first place. Calypso then went outside to inform the men who stood by Charles in battle, about his passing.

No one handled the lose to great. Everyone who knew Charles personally all ended in tears. That same day, Nico was the one who offered to deliver the news to Charles mother. No one else had the heart to tell the poor women that her only son didn't last the first day of battle. However, Nico will proudly tell the women that he died a hero. He died protecting his friends.

Percy and Tyson felt guilty, but both brothers were determined to avenge Charles death. The knight who killed him may be dead, but his fellow friends weren't.

Silena wanted to perish. She wanted it all to be a terrible nightmare and wake up. This wasn't a dream though, this was real.

"It's going to be alright," Aphrodite whispered, petting her daughters head.

But deep down, Silena knew that things will never be the same.
