I don't own Sailor Moon
Darien's pov
My two girls were in their room finally. I watched them from the little window. . I had her family and friends called. They were arriving one by one to see my daughter. Due to hospital rules, only two were allowed in the room at a time. The first to arrive were Amara and Michelle. Amara shook my hand while Michelle kissed me on the cheek.
Amara was the eldest of the Tsukino siblings. She was never late to anything. That woman could drive, as a professional racecar driver. Her dusty blonde hair was gelled back today and out of her face. She was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, always very casual but classy. Amara was like the wind, fast paced and quick. She never missed anything. I wasn't surprised she was the first to come. No one could ever keep up with her, save Michelle. Amara had a look of pride on her face. Her grey blue eyes were narrowed while looking me in the face. She was taking the scenery in. She wasn't much of a talker, but her partner was.
"A congratulations is in order," Michelle smiled warmly. She wore a nice blue dress and sandals. She also held a little pink bag. "We never got to have a baby shower, so I thought this would be nice," she explained. She handed me the little bag and grinned. I opened the gift, and found a silver jewelry box. I opened the box and it hummed a tune from a cello. I knew instantly it came from Michelle. She was a talented classical pianist. The silver box was detailed with little moons and has Rini name engraved on it. "I thought she'd have a little piece of her auntie with her." Michelle winked.
Michelle was a beautiful woman. She was the personification of beauty and class. She was the perfect partner for Amara too. Her aqua curls were put up for a change, and she wore no make up today. She had been rushed to get here, and it was obvious. Michelle was the type that never left the house without lipstick. She was a girl's girl. Her sea blue eyes held warmth, unlike Amara. Michelle was vocal, and said a lot of the things Amara didn't. They were funny that way. If Michelle said something, it was likely Amara was thinking it. I was at least happy they didn't seem to hate me today. They were happy. It was a happy day. It was the Rini and Serena's birthday.
"I'm sure she and Serena will love it."
Amara pulled out a dainty gold chain out of her pocket. Attached to the chain was a huge silver crystal. I knew what it was already. Serena wore it nonstop, it was her family heirloom and it was very important to her. She had stopped wearing it all the time around when we got married. She thought she had lost it, and cried over it. Amara held it in her hands, and placed it in the dainty box. "It's for Serena, I found it at my mom's." Amara explained. That silver crystal meant so much to Serena. She would die when she saw it. I thanked both of them and allowed them inside to see her.
After about half an hour Mina and Amy showed up. I could hear the tapping of their heels before I actually saw them. Mina's gold hair contrasted with Amy's blue hair. They were panting. Apparently the roads were bad due to the storm. They got here as fast as they could. Amy was paranoid. "We would've been here sooner, Mina was driving crazy. Are you sure she's alright?" She questioned. They were both wearing business like outfits. I could tell they were working together beforehand.
"Yes, she's just tired. She wants to see all of you before going to bed."
"We'll be quick." They also had a box. Mina was holding it tightly. Her blue eyes met mine and she blushed. "We got this for Rini." She handed it to me. "This is sort of why we were late."
"Do you think Serena will like it?" Amy asked nervously. Her blue eyes looked down. I couldn't see more of weird duo. Amy and Mina were polar opposite. Mina was outgoing and all over the place. Amy was shy and very intelligent. But somehow my amazing wife glued them together and created a friendship for two people with virtually nothing in common.
I opened the box and inside was a tiara. It was too big for a baby, this gift was obviously meant for when she was older. I could tell it was expensive. They really shouldn't have. It was very nice. It was adorned with pearls and pink jewels. "For our perfect princess," Mina said.
"She's the first baby, and we're all going to protect her like she is a princess." Amy added.
Amara and Michelle exited the room with lovey looks on their faces. "We should adopt a baby," Michelle cooed. "She's beautiful, Darien." We heard a cry from inside the room and all five of our blue eyes were instantly on the door. Serena was up and moving with Rini in her arms. My little wife opened the door with her free hand. "You should be resting." Michelle chastised her.
Serena's baby blues widened at the sight of Amy and Mina. "You're here!" She handed Amara the baby and hugged her blonde friend first and then Amy. "You didn't have to."
"We really did Sere!" Mina rolled her eyes. Seeing both of them in front of me, I could truly see the resemblance. They looked like sisters. They had been friends since they were super young and grew up together. Serena had tears in her eyes as she admired her friend.
"What kind of friends would we be if we didn't come?" Amy agreed. She smiled brightly at my wife. In the short time I knew Amy, I had come to know her as a very caring person. It was a wonder Serena loved her. Amy was her newest friend, but they were already close. Amy blended very well into the group too.
"A real squad sticks together." Mina laughed. Michelle and Amara bid their farewells and handed Rini to Amy. The remaining women walked back into their room. I went to the waiting room expecting more of Serena's army to show up. I knew they would all come.
Ray and Lita were the next to arrive. They practically bombarded the place. Ray wasn't one for formalities or to be stopped. She demanded that I take her to Serena, which I did. I wasn't going to right the raven-haired promoter. Lita and Ray were both powerful women. They were very intimidating.
Ray and Lita also had gifts for the baby. Ray gave Rini a beautifully crafted antique Pegasus carousel. Lita gave her a pair of pink earrings in the shape of her trademark roses; they looked identical to hers. The two left the gifts with me. They basically kicked Mina and Amy out and took their places in the room. Amy offered to help me carry the gifts to my office while Mina waited for more people to arrive. What were they even doing in that room? Women sure loved to talk. We didn't take that long, but when we got back Ray and Lita were outside in the hall with Mina. The three were talking. Amy and I closed in to see what happened.
"Sammy and Andrew just got here. They're in talking with Serena." Mina answered our questioning eyes. The four women looked at me for a moment. I wasn't sure if they all knew they were doing it, but they were watching me. I had to give Serena credit; she picked her friends wisely. These four women were her protectors, all so unique but fighting for her.
Mina was their leader believe it or not. She made decisions believe it or not, she had a level head. She didn't ask people to do things that weren't necessary. She wasn't the best planner, but she knew how to use everyone's strengths. Mina had a key to Serena's house. Well…all four of them were given keys to my wife's house. She was going on about them meeting up there to take care of her house and make it cozy. The other girls listened intently. Mina was the most like my wife. She was bubbly but strong when she needed to be. She used her heart and put it into every project she got into. The girl was overall thoughtful. Not only was she like my wife and she looked a lot like her. She looked more like her than Amara looked like Serena, which was crazy. She flipped her blonde hair to the side as her animated blue eyes scanned each girl.
The manager listened intently. Lita was the girly one, her emerald eyes radiated with joy. She was a good friend of mine too. She was the type a man should settle down with. She was stable like a rock, and yet like a rose, graceful. Lita was very feminine despite her tall stature. She put her long brown hair in a bun while she volunteered to cook the food. She was planning on sneaking Serena some real food instead of making her suffer with the hospital's food. She also mentioned cleaning around the nursery to make sure Serena had a just place for Rini. Lita looked like the strongest one, but she wasn't the powerhouse of the group. She was the cheerleader type, thinking of what she could contribute to keep it going.
Ray's violet eyes watched me. She had a talent of listening but being able to concentrate on other things. Ray was the ultimate bodyguard. She was the powerhouse. The raven-haired woman always knew her surroundings. She was the one to call when shit hit the fan. She mentioned being the one to come back with Serena's home cooked meals and grabbing her personal items. Ray was beyond loyal to Serena. She looked into my soul at this moment, studying me. Her intuition was always right. She raised her dark eyebrow at me, to get my attention. And for a split second, she gave me a rare smile. She was approving of something. Ray didn't have to talk much to get her point across. She was sneaky and knew how to get a message out without saying it. She wanted to be the one to come back. I could tell she wanted to talk to me.
Amy brought up the topic of Hotaru. She would watch Hotaru during Serena's hospital stay. The blue-haired woman was living with Serena while going to school to become a doctor. She was the brains of their group, and never forgot a single detail. She would make sure Hotaru was taken to school and back home. She spent a lot of time with Serena's adopted daughter. Amy wanted Ray to bring Hotaru with her at a later time. She didn't want Hotaru to worry too much about her adoptive mother. She planned to have the teenager stay home and come after a school day, because Serena would be exhausted. Amy also talked about making sure to have Ray bring a baby bag here.
"You should get some rest Dare," Lita noticed me. "You look like shit. Go shower and take a quick nap. Ray will watch over her when she comes back." Her emerald eyes held kindness for me.
"Thank you." I let out. I was running off nothing. The entire morning had gone fast because of the baby. The afternoon was slowing me down. I hadn't even noticed it. I left the four women to go to my quarters. Showering never felt so good. I passed out as soon as I got to the sleeping corridor.
…
When I woke up it was around midnight. I was shocked I had slept that much. I raced to Serena's room. And what I saw was strange. Peeking in, I saw Ray was sitting in the guest chair asleep. She had come back as promised. Serena was finally getting some rest after the delivery too. Her eyes were closed. The strange thing was the third woman in the room, watching my daughter. It was Trista. She was looking at my daughter intently while the baby was asleep. I watched as Trista turned around and spotted me. Her red eyes widened, but she made no noise. Quietly, she exited my wife's hospital room.
"What are you doing?" I whispered angrily. I didn't let her answer. I dragged her by her arm to my office where we could talk in private. I slammed my door and turned the lights on and then let the doctor go. I repeated my question again, but this time I was louder.
Her ruby eyes flashed and her face held bewilderment. "My job!" She yelled. I stopped in my tracks. "I wanted to make sure she was breathing alright…I noticed she wasn't nursing all that well. I went to check on her." The doctor admitted. Her voice lowered and she looked down. "Congratulations, she's beautiful."
"Trista…" I felt bad. I was an idiot. Trista would never do anything to a child. She was just doing her job. It was her life's work to cure children. I shouldn't have reacted that way. "I'm sorry." I let out. She gave me a sad smile.
"I wanted to give her something." She mentioned. "Your wife has an entire village for her. I couldn't give it to her myself." I heard the jealously in her voice while she said it. She looked very unhappy. She pulled out a little box from her lab coat and opened it. Inside was a silver chain with a crafted heart shape key inside it. She held her arm out to give it to me. "For your daughter, you make a beautiful family." I could see the pain in her eyes as she said it.
"Trista…" I sighed.
"No. I see what you have. I don't want to get between your family anymore. Go to her Darien, work on your marriage. That little girl deserves a mom and dad and a real home. Serena will take you back if you let her. Fight for her." Trista balled her fists up. "You know as well as I do, you only get one family." She turned around. "We both lost our families, and this is your chance at one." I could hear her sniffle. She was crying. She placed the box with the necklace on my bookshelf. I knew she was right.
We were both two people from the same background. We were both lost souls. Trista was more than right. I was lucky. Serena had found me and brought me back form a terrible depression. She cured all my sorrow and gave me hope. Serena was everything to me. And now she gave me my future, in the form of our daughter. I had to fight for my family. I had wanted a family for so long, and then Serena shared hers with me. It took losing it again to realize how important it was. I gulped. "I loved you Darien." Trista turned to see me. She gave me the most heart breaking smiles. "But even when you were with me, she had your heart. I want you to be happy. Make up with your wife before that other man has her." Trista closed in and hugged me tightly. She then left my office. I watched as her dark green hair swung with her strut down the hall. Even when she was sad, she was beautiful.
….
The next week had been hell. Ray was constantly bugging me while I was working. She, too, had decided she wanted me back in the picture. She said something along the same lines as Trista had. What was stranger was that Trista transferred to a different hospital. She no longer worked at mine. Ray was delighted to hear that, hell, she cheered. Ray followed me as I was completing my rounds.
"So we need to get Seyia out of the picture." She babbled on. She was ridiculous. I couldn't compete with some rock star. "He's only visited once, can you believe that. He left for tour! I can't deal with it." Ray continued. I was writing notes on someone's board while only half way listening to her. It was sort of impossible for me to get any work done with her loud mouth. She was starting to annoy me more than anything. "Mina has a plan if you want to play." Ray sang obnoxiously while following me to another room. She hadn't left the hospital much. She was faithfully by Serena or my side. "Everyone is in."
"If Serena wanted to be with me, she'd dump pretty boy and come home to me." I rolled my eyes at the woman. I was tired of hearing about this. Every single day Ray would do something. I was twenty-eight years old now. I was above this high school antic. I hadn't even got to celebrate my birthday with all the chaos. Serena did remember though. She made Ray get me a cupcake and sang to me. My wife was cute sometimes, I guess.
Ray let out her evil laugh. It could scare death itself. "She told me what happened in the elevator. You're dumber than I thought if you don't get it. She is very interested in you." Ray placed her hand on my shoulder. "I read that you only have to wait six weeks to have sex after birth, Dare—"
I blushed. I walked fast. I was not going to talk about sex with Ray of all people. I wasn't going to talk about Serena either. I wasn't going to talk to Ray if she was the last person on the planet. I needed a guy to talk to. I couldn't talk to women about these topics. I pulled out my cellphone and called the only person I could think of. I called Andrew to meet me for drinks after work.
Meeting Andrew was so nice. it had been such a long time since we had spoken. And now that he was over everything, he was happy to see me. We collaborated a bit. And he agreed with Ray and Mina. He was ready to accept me in the family again. He also explained that while everyone liked Serena's boyfriend, they wanted us to be a family more. He was very honest about it all. I could always trust Andrew to give it to me straight. We made a plan ourselves. If I was going to court Serena again, I'd have to fight for her my own way.
