The court trial was happening. Ponyboy was sitting in his room tapping on his lap and bitting his lip slightly. Ponyboy was nervous because he wanted to go but Darry told him not to go but the funny thing was Soda was at work, and so was Darry. Dally was already heading down to the court room. Ponyboy walked up to Dally and for once Ponyboy was anything but nervous of chatting to Dally. Ponyboy saw what Johnny saw in Dallas Winston. Dally was eating a slice of cake when he handed the rest of the cake to Ponyboy and Ponyboy slowly ate it.
"You going down to the courthouse" Ponyboy asked Dally.
"Yup want to show my support for Tim." Dally shrugged his shoulders acting like it was no big deal.
"Can I come with." Ponyboy asked Dally and Dally sighed.
"You want to go to a courtroom to see Tim getting put in prison." Dally raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah I want to go. Tim did me a solid. I don't feel on edge anymore." Ponyboy sighed and Dally wrapped his arm around Ponyboy.
"Does your brother knows about you wanting to go to the trial." Dally faced Ponyboy and Ponyboy sighed.
"Darry doesn't want me to go but Dally I need to be there. If Tim gets the death penalty it will be my fault." Ponyboy brought up to Dally and Dally sighed looking around the house.
"Two-bit is out getting drunk, Steve is on a date with Evie and Soda and Darry is working till late. Dally please let me come with you." Ponyboy stated to Dally.
"Come on get your jean jacket. It's getting cold and we don't know how long this day will be there." Dally urged Ponyboy and Ponyboy picked up the oversized jacket that belonged to Dally originally.
Dally didn't say anything about it. He didn't mind that Ponyboy was still keeping his jacket with him. Dally and Ponyboy walked together to the courthouse. The courthouse was in the middle of the town between the rich side and the poor side of the town.
Anybody could go to the courthouse easily regardless of where you lived. Pony and Dally found a seat in the courthouse in the front row. Dally and Pony stood up from their seat while Tim was brought in with handcuffs wrapped around his hands and ankles. Tim saw Ponyboy and Dally and saw Curly standing there shaking his head.
Everybody took their seat on the benches. Nobody said anything but the judge was looking at the rap sheet of Tim Shepherd and Tim's public defender lawyer stood up.
"My client will like plead guilty your honor. He doesn't wish to waste time for the jury or his family."
Tim didn't say anything but he gave Pony a small smile and turned to his brother and nodded at Curly. Curly gave him a nod back meaning that Curly was now the ruler of the Shepherd gang.
After 30 minutes, Tim was rushed outside of the courtroom. Pony looked down at his lap before rushing to catch up to Curly to apologize for what he had done to Curly and his family.
"Curly" Ponyboy shouted at Curly and Curly turned towards Ponyboy.
"I am so sorry." Ponyboy apologized to Curly and Curly shook his head.
"It's too late for that." Curly pushed Ponyboy and Ponyboy shook slightly remembering what those socs did.
Curly immediately saw Pony was shaking and turning pale before Curly could say something Dally pushed himself off the wall and put his cigarette out.
"Don't touch him Curly. I mean it. You maybe Tim's brother but I will not hesitate hurting you ever. He still having flashbacks over the attacks Curly." Dally spoke harshly. "Again nobody told Tim to go after Buck and not Ponyboy. Ponyboy didn't even want Buck to pay."
"Dally, I want to go home." Ponyboy mumbled and Dally nodded his head and lead him on the way back home.
"Ponyboy I'm sorry." Curly tried to apologize but the damage was done for. Pony and Dally entered the Curtis's household to see that Steve and Two-bit was playing poker.
Pony immediately went to his room to try to get some sleep since he had been having trouble sleeping. Pony didn't want Soda to sleep in his room mainly because Pony didn't want to be touched. He was fine with Dally touching him slightly.
"Where you guys been?" Two-Bit asked Dally while Dally took a beer out of the fridge.
"You know at the courthouse watching the trial for Tim." Dally answered while drinking slightly.
"So what was the verdict." Steve asked while smoking a cigarette.
"He pleaded guilty which means Curly now runs the gang." Dally informed them right as Soda came into the house with a beaming smile on his face.
"Hey guys" He greeted his friends with a smile now placed on his face. "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah everything is fine. Tim is facing life sentence because he refused to tell the court what Buck did to Pony." Dally informed everyone.
"Why didn't he tell anyone the truth?" Soda asked Dally.
"Why you think? He didn't want the whole town knowing the truth about what happened to Ponyboy at all. He was doing Ponyboy the favor" Dally sighed while shaking his head.
Tim Shepherd was a good person and Dally knew that which is why he kept being friends with Tim. I mean those two had so much in common that it was funny not to tell them apart. Even though they were criminals they had standards and such.
Ponyboy came out of his room finally after a couple hours to see now that Two-bit had left, Dally was on the couch watching tv and Steve and Soda were playing poker. The phone rang and Ponyboy answered the phone.
"Hello" Ponyboy greeted the person on the other line.
"Hey Ponyboy. Please tell me you have see Randy. I haven't see him at all since last night." Mr. Anderson was now panicking in this moment.
"No, I haven't seen him. He's not at my house." Ponyboy spoke to Mr. Anderson while everyone turned to look at Pony.
"Please can you let me know if he comes to your house of if he calls you." Mr. Anderson commented to Ponyboy.
"I will Mr. Anderson. I'm sure Randy will be home soon. Good night Mr. Anderson." Ponyboy hung up the phone. Soda raised an eyebrow.
"Randy is missing since last night." Ponyboy announced while Darry entered the house with groceries.
