This is chapter 25, Bohemian Rhapsody. It is unfinished.
Yew flew alongside his comrades, able to keep up with their formations, and actually following them correctly. He had improved greatly over the past two months since he joined back with the Gekko-State. Even his rocky relationship with Angela has more or less cooled over now, even if it stung him to know that she was dating Eva, his instructor.
Landing commands were sent to his monitors, and so he followed them. Along with the rest of the KLFs he completely followed through the procedure correctly, feeling a slight nudge as Nirvana landed into the docking bay.
"We did it," he said to his friend.
The LFO let out a few playful beeps in response.
"Come on now, I wouldn't have been able to learn so well if you weren't such a godsend of a machine," Yew said as he blushed.
She let out a couple more beeps mixed in with some mechanical chirps.
"Alright alright. Geez. You're such a mother when it comes to compliments. I'll have Angela take a look at you, kay?" He said as he exited Nirvana.
Yew stepped out of his LFO, and jumped down to the floor. He took a bit of time to stretch out his arms and legs, his dark grey pilot's suit elasticity and comfortably allowing him to do so. Captain Serga came out to the middle of the docking bay, ready to give one of his after flight 'sermons'.
"Good job everybody. I'm glad to see that we are once again in sync. Now, Commander Holland asked to brief you all that we will soon be landing to join up with some allies. These allies in question is Captain Jurgens and his forces. This meeting is why we've cut flight practice short today. Go get some grub, and be ready to meet the crew of the other ship. Got that?"
"Yes sir," the pilot's said in unison.
"Good, Dissmissed."
Alain approached Yew. He was surprised at the speed of Yew catching up to the teams formations, and their skills. Yew completely passed him in skill, and was now competing with Eva. In such a short time, the student was better than his mentor.
"Hey Alain. Need something?" Yew asked cheerfully.
"You wanna get something to eat right now?" Alain asked his friend.
"I'm not really hungry, but I'll join you anyway. Lets get changed into our normal uniforms first."
Alain followed, his face devoid of any congratulatory emotion. He felt he should have been happy for his friend. He was afraid. He watched carefully while they changed, seeing Yew's hair fall into his now moderately well built body. Yew tied his hair up like a ponytail. Yew's light violet, almost pinkish hair now grew to a long length, like a woman's. There was still traces of black tips on his hair, from when he had it dyed. Yew really was a Corallion. He was out of their league.
Now that they were fully changed, they headed towards the mess hall. Alain followed behind. He didn't want Yew to see his face now. He couldn't feel happy for his progress. It took him years to become as good as he was now. He was envious of his skill.
"So do you know what kind of people Captain Jurgans and his crew are like, Alain? I had only heard stories from sister and Renton."
"I used to be stationed with them. They're good people. Their ship has a similar atmosphere to the one here on the Gekko."
"That seems good. It'll be nice to meet them."
"You've changed."
"Really? What do you mean?"
"The Yew I knew, he didn't like the prospect of meeting new people. He was a private individual. Now, you're becoming more open. You're becoming more.."
"Human?"
Alain's cheeks flushed with shame.
"No you're right. I've been more cherry now. But can you blame me? When I first got here, I was in the middle of adapting to a new environment, basically haven been given the boot by the person I love most in the world, and reconciled with my family. I'm a Coralian. Yes I want to be more human like. It may seem like I'm overcompensating, but I feel like I'm just making up for lost time. These last seven years, they've taught me that I hadn't truely been living before. Now I have purpose, I have reason, I have my wants and needs. I can feel more than pain and confusion."
"I'm sorry."
Yew sighed very audible.
"Look, Alain, don't worry about it. I appreciate how much you've helped me over these two months. You've helped me ease in to the Gekko, you've shown me how things work around here, and if it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't have been able to catch up to your team's formations."
Alain stood there silent, lowering his gaze, unable to look at Yew.
"I'm going to go on ahead. I wanna get something to eat before we do the meet up. You can come with or you can cool off or something," Yew said.
Alain continued with his silence.
"Fine," Yew said defeated, "I'll see you later."
As Yew left, Alain's hands clenched and lines of fustration furrowed his brow.
"You're wrong. I barely taught you anything. It was all your natural talent. The skies are where you truly belong, where your kind truly belong. What you did in a month, took me years to perfect. I never belonged up here, I was just your placeholder till you returned," he thought to himself.
"It'll be good to see the old man again, don't you think Holland?" Gidget asked her superior from her station in the bridge.
"Yeah. Like old times. 'Cept the fire fights, the constant rivalry, or the pursuing. Okay maybe the rivalry might stick around."
"I wonder how those kids he adopted are doing?" Moon-Doggie asked as he sat by Gidget, having put the Gekko in autopilot.
"They're close to becoming high level intelligence officers from what I hear," Holland said, "Though, I also hear that they're just as stubborn and picky as they were when they started."
"Holland, incoming transmission from the Izumo!"
"Put Jurgens through."
(write about how Yew has changed, with you claiming he just wants to be more humanlike, that he wants live life happily. Then the meet up with Jurguns, revealing that Alain was an ace pilot with his group until he transferred out cause he wanted to be on the Gekko. Then have him join them again.)
