Catherine's POV

In one week time Catherine had the chance to go back to Shakespeare, she was really excited about that. Maybe this time she would actually have the chance to talk to Sara, she seemed to be a very interesting woman. She was sitting on her couch calendar in hand. Since Grissom had told her they were invited back by Ms. Sidle she had been crossing off the days. Another day gone, another day closer... she was thinking about what she was going to wear when the front door was opened.

A bag was thrown across the room, Lindsey was home and evidently in a bad mood. She walked into the living room but didn't acknowledge her mother. She put some really annoying CD in the stereo and turned up the volume. When she turned around, she looked at her mother but didn't return the smile.

'What's wrong now?'

'You.' She stated.

'Okay, care to tell me what I did wrong this time?'

'Mom, you are drooling all over that calendar because you can go back to Shakespeare and I'm still not allowed to come with you, it's so unfair.'

'Well, life is unfair Linds.' Her daughter threw her a death glare.

'You always say that, it's annoying! Why can't I come, mom? I really really really want to go!' she sounded like a small child, it was rather cute.

'We already been through this, you are too young.' Catherine paused and waited for a reaction, as she'd anticipated Lindsey just rolled her eyes. 'What's your deal anyway? What's so special about Shakespeare?'

She gave Catherine her best 'duh' face and sat down next to her 'Mom, it's the hottest club in town. It would be so cool to tell all my friends, they would be so jealous and you would be the coolest mom in school!' she explained in a patronizing tone. 'It would be great for my social life.'

'What's wrong with your social life now?' again Catherine got the 'duh' face, her daughter definitely thought she was stupid.

'Nothing's wrong with it, but how many dates do I have?'

'Not so many, thank God!' she might be a teenager and dating was normal for teenagers but mothers didn't want to think about their baby girls and dating.

'Exactly, in a club like that you're bound to meet someone you click with.' Her face lit up.

'Linds, you do know Shakespeare is practically a gay club. How would going there improve your chances for a date.' Catherine was curious, she thought her daughter knew all about this club than she should know most people who went there were women, lesbians even.

'Mom, please you have been a teenager haven't you? Not that I want to know all the things you did back then because…yuk! But you must know about teenagers and experimenting, how can I know if I only like guys if I didn't try something with a woman?' she looked expectantly at her mother, clearly it was not just a rhetorical question.

Catherine was flabbergasted, her jaw dropped to the floor. She had always been open-minded about sexuality wanting her daughter to be as open minded. But she hadn't expected that her daughter would actually want to date women. Maybe this was something they had to talk about. 'Are you interested in girls?'

'I don't know, I might be. The guys I have dated we're great, but I didn't feel a real connection and I can't deny I find some girls in my class attractive too. Mandy for example she has beautiful eyes, they're green and when she smiles I think she's the cutest person on earth.' She had this dreamy expression on her face.

'Finding girls attractive doesn't mean you might be gay. As for not really connecting with boys…that can mean a lot of things, you're still very young maybe you haven't found the right guy yet, when it's meant to be you will connect I'm sure.' Why does her being into girls make me feel uncomfortable?

'I thought that was the reason too, but then explain me why I have felt connected to some of my best friends?'

'I can't…' Catherine sounded beat. Lindsey's logic was practically indisputable, well if she loved girls instead of boys than that was her choice and Catherine would just accept it.

'Mom, you know you're being a total hypocrite right? I mean why do you look so distraught about this, you like women yourself. And it's not like it's your fault or anything, so you don't have to blame yourself.' She had a point, when did her daughter become this smart and this good at telling what Catherine was thinking.

'I'm sorry Linds, I didn't mean to be a hypocrite. If you like girls fine, but you know this could only be a phase?'

'Yes I do, I have read books about it.' she smiled and patted Catherine's leg 'Don't worry mom, this could just pass.'

'I'm not worried, I'm surprised I never expected my daughter to like girls and if it's not just a phase, I will be okay with it of course.' Catherine put her hand on Lindsey's. 'You are a really smart girl, you know that.'

Her smile widened, then she abruptly changed the subject 'So what are we having for dinner?'

OOOOOOOOO

They had been at the club for over an hour and still no sign of Ms. Sidle, Catherine had been discretely surveying the place in hopes of catching a glimpse. The guys had been giving Catherine a hard time because she wouldn't stop talking about the fact they were invited by one Ms. Sidle. They were only teasing her, nevertheless she was careful not to give them more reasons to do so.

Catherine's body was swaying to the beats of the music. Warrick tried inconspicuously to move closer to her until he was dancing close behind her. He put his hands on Catherine's hips, moving with her to the music their bodies in perfect unison. He brought his lips close to Catherine's ear and said softly 'Have you seen her yet?'

When the words registered in Catherine's brain she stopped dancing, tensing slightly. Warrick noted, moving her body with his hands. 'Thought no one noticed?'

Blushing Catherine shook her head, she had been so careful in her mind, of course when your best friends were trained investigators one of them was bound to notice. 'What is so interesting about that woman?'

Catherine turned in his arms, moving even closer to him. To the rest of the world they looked like they were just dancing. She moved her mouth closer to his ear before answering 'I don't know, something in me is clearly drawn to her. I find her really attractive and … I want to talk to her, she seems pretty fascinating.'

He laughed lightly 'Girl, you got it bad!' he said a bit too loud to Catherine's liking, she slapped him playful on the arm. The blush on her cheeks only increasing.

'I wouldn't say that, I hardly know her…'

He cut her off 'But you obviously want to know her. Cath, you're almost obsessed by her or by wanting to meet her.'

Catherine didn't deny it, however she didn't tell him he was right either. They continued dancing in silence until Catherine felt rather thirsty. In search of her drink she watched the crowd below. That was when she noticed her 'obsession', according to Warrick. Sara's hair was slightly tangled and her clothes were a bit wrinkled it was evident she had been sleeping.

Catherine followed her with her eyes, unable to tear them away. Sara was talking to one of the barmaids, the girl obviously felt guilty about something still Sara was able to reassure her. The girl gave Sara a warm smile before the brunette walked away from the bar, right away she was followed by a trail of young women. Sara clearly wasn't in the mood, she graciously brushed them off one by one before making her way to the stage to welcome her patrons.

She hastily walked back to the bar area, Catherine's heart skipped a beat in anticipation, maybe this time they would be able to have a chat. Catherine momentarily lost Sara in the crowd. When she spotted her again, she was in conversation with a familiar looking woman, Sofia Curtis. Why didn't I have to go to the toilets Catherine thought a tad annoyed with herself. Still she couldn't help but watch their interaction a little while longer. That was when it became clear Sofia was hitting on Sara. Lucky bitch!

After what felt like an eternity they finally parted, Sara looked up to where Catherine was standing as if she'd felt Catherine's gaze on her. Catherine looked away quickly highly doubting she was fast enough. When she finally had the courage to look back down, Sara was gone. Catherine watched the guys instead, Nick and Greg were still dancing Warrick on the other hand was watching her with a quirked eyebrow and a big fat smirk.

Luckily he chose not to mention a thing, no doubt saving it for later on. Catherine decided to return to her dancing friends and enjoy the rest of their night off.

OOOOOOOOO

'Hi Wendy, could you please test this ASAP?'

Wendy was working on some evidence before looking at Catherine. 'Catherine, you clearly see I'm a bit backed up here.' She sounded a bit cranky and had dark circles under her eyes.

'Sorry of course...' Catherine had an idea 'But if you move mine up on your stock, let's say the next one that gets processed I will make sure you won't regret it.' She winked at Wendy for good measurement.

'Okay I'll take you up on your offer.' She smiled and winked back. Catherine knew that would work on Wendy.

'Good thank you.' They talked about the kind of 'payment' Catherine had in mind when Sofia interrupted them. Giving a quizzical glance to Catherine 'Hi Sof, what brings you here?'

'Hi Cath, well I came to ask if Wendy was done processing the samples I brought her earlier.'

'You brought her samples, since when is that part of the detectives' job?' Catherine was confused as to why a detective felt the need to bring DNA samples to Wendy.

'It's not, I just did someone a favor.' She started to explain 'Besides if I bring samples in they always get top priority.' Then she also winked at Wendy, who blushed. Immediately returning to processing the samples. What's going on here?

Sofia exited the lab with Catherine in tow 'Curtis, a word please. My office.' Without waiting for Sofia Catherine strode to her office. Catherine sat down behind her desk facing her doorway waiting for Sofia, when the blonde detective arrived Catherine told her to sit down.

'What is it, Catherine?' she asked impatiently yet friendly.

'I don't get you, Sofia. First I see you flirting with Sara Sidle and now Wendy too...'

'Wendy first actually, not that it's really any of your business...' she paused 'I have been flirting with Wendy from the moment we met I believe. Sara Sidle was just opportunity. Don't tell me you don't enjoy flirting as much as I do.' The question was clearly rhetorical therefore Catherine didn't reply, Sofia continued 'Don't worry, I'm not serious with Ms. Sidle.'

'What makes you think I'm worried?' Catherine asked with as much confidence as she could muster.

Sofia smiled and fought the urge to roll her eyes 'The fact you brought it up maybe. See, I know Wendy has always shown an interest in you but you never acted upon it only when it benefits you. Wendy knows that but she doesn't mind, it's actually her that's playing you, not the other way around... You know if you would just ask her to process your samples first she would without thinking about it. But, you always offer her something in return and of course she lets you.' A laugh escaped her which made Catherine feel self-conscious, Sofia just continued 'So, me flirting with Wendy doesn't mean anything to you, me flirting with Sara obviously does. You do realize you've been talking about her nonstop?

'Now you're exaggerating!' Catherine told her, the color in her face rising.

'No, I'm not, hell even Grissom has noticed it!' She laughed again 'Maybe you should just ask him her number.' With that she stood still laughing hard and left a profusely blushing Catherine.

Of course Sofia was right, Catherine had been badgering everybody with her annoying ranting about one Sara Sidle. She was envious of anyone who'd had the chance of talking to her when all she wanted was a chance to do so herself. Catherine just wanted to figure out why she was so drawn to the brunette, maybe talking to her would help.

OOOOOOOOO

'Mugs.'

'Sam? What are you doing here?'

'Can't a father visit his daughter at work?'

'Sure he can, but this is probably the first time… what's wrong?'

'Nothing, I just wanted to see you it's been a while.'

'Somehow I'm not convinced that's the only reason. But everything is fine as you can see, only a bit busy that's all.'

'I see you're fine and I'm glad for that, but do you take enough time off, Catherine? You look like you could use some time off.'

'Nah, I'm just tired nothing new about that. How are you?'

'I'm good, thanks. Can I suggest something?'

'Sure.'

'Why don't you come to the party at the Rampart next week, I'm going to present my plans for Eclipse – you can bring someone if you like.'

'Is this your way of finding out if I'm seeing someone, Sam?'

'No it's not. Catherine, it would mean very much to me if you would come.'

'That depends, are you going to take my mother or some other bimbo you use as publicity stunt?'

'I'll take your mother if that's what you want, if that means you'll come I'll be happy to.'

'I'll see Sam, I'm not promising you anything though I will do my best to attend your party.'

He smiled at her and left her to her work.
