Kat sat in her hotel room, under all of the blankets, watching the top 20 countdown in her pjamas. Her head felt like it weighed three hundred pounds ontop of the oddly soft pillow. The room was dark and the only light she was getting was the light that shined from the balcony. Her phone had been buzzing off of the wall for the last twenty minutes, mostly from her mother, whom just ended up texting her later to say that Shane told her that she had wanted to be alone. Good Old Shane. Other than that, it had been Angelika's poor attempts to phone her that went unanswered. Right now, Kat wanted to sulk alone and alone required not answering the phone.

Number one on the countdown came on after the last commercial, it was Connect three. Their latest hit, 'Told me Different', was already at number one. Kat stared at the t.v for a good couple of seconds until Nate's smiling face flashed across the screen. Sadly, she wiped her eyes and reached for the remote, flicking the channel to watch a Disney film. The sunken feeling in her gut rang out again. The mere sight of his face just drove the guilt further into her brain. It was the hardest thing breaking up with a celebrity- you had to see them everywhere.

She looked at the screen, not really paying any mind to the cheesy movie that was playing. The guy was just sneaking into some sort of building when her phone went off. Letting out a groan, Kat reached over and pulled her cell to her face: Shane.

She answered it, "Hey."

It was quiet for a second, not the usual roudiness from Connect three's backstage, "Hey."

Kat waited for him to talk again, but he didn't.

"What did you need Shane, or are you just checking up on me like my mother and Ange?"

"No, No," Shane said quickly, "I.. um, this is going to sound weird, but i'm kind of playing hooky right now and I'm going to need your help."

Kat frowned, her phone still pressed to her ear, "Playing hooky?"

Shane let out a little laugh, "Yeah. Uh, answer the door and i'll explain, bye."

Click.

Kat glanced over at the door, just in time for a knock to echo through the room. Her confusion spread as she just up the phone and got up from her comfy spot on the enormous bed. She made her way past the t.v and her mother's bed and went to the doorway. Just in case, she leaned forwards and peered into the eye hole and saw Shane's impatient face staring up at her. Slowly, she unlocked and opened the door, glancing at the two frozen girl's who had just recieved his autograph.

He said goodbye and walked in, while she locked the door and prayed that little groups of girls wouldn't be waiting outside her room all of the time now.

Shane through his jacket on the couch and flopped on top of Kat's bed, letting out a relieved sigh. Kat just stood at the foot of the bed and awkwardly stared at him, unable to find her voice. He had a small smile on his face and his eyes were shut while he inhaled and exhaled deeply.

"I want to just sleep right now," he said.

Kat raised an eyebrow, "That's great Shane but why are you here?"

He arched his head up and saw her in her pj's, eyes red and puffy, arms across her chest firmly, "Ouch. How are you doing?"

Annoyed, Kat rolled her eyes, "I'm great."

Shane put his head back down at patted the spot on the bed next to him. Kat slowly got onto the bed, laying down next to Shane and listening to him breath slowly beside her. She kind of wished she was next to somebody else right now.

"He'll come around, he's Nathaniel, he's gotta," Shane told her seriously.

Kat eyes hurt again, and she shook her head, "Not this time Shane, it's different."

Shane turned his head to look at her, ignoring the tears on her cheeks, "So you thought he was going behind your back with Sarah, everyone did. We're the only ones who knew, it's really not a big deal."

Kat glanced at him and offered the best smile possible, "Thanks Shane but I made a huge scene out of it, that's what the big deal is."

He shrugged, "I would've thought it if I didn't know. They're always together, I would've thought the same thing."

Kat was silent for a minute, "Why did he keep it a secret? So they're going to be step siblings, it's not a bad thing."

"It's not that it's a bad thing. When you're in our position, it's a little tough when everything's in the public eye. What if Nate and Sarah just couldn't get a long? That's all we would've been known as- all Nate and Sarah would be known as, the siblings that hate each other. Our publicists and their parents wanted to make sure that everything would click and go well before it was announced, there's nothing worse than having something like that in the tabloids. Nothing."

Her guts were aching, she was feeling even worse.

"And what if paparazzi showed up at the wedding? Their parents are trying to avoid that bullshit too, so it's best to keep everything silent right now."

Finally, she got up and looked up dead in the eye, her face above his, "Why couldn't he tell me? I thought he told me everything?"

"He didn't want the paparazzi hounding you! Once they catch wind of this, they won't leave you alone. If you don't know anything, it'll be way fucking better."

Kat stared at him, his dark brown eyes looking up at her, sparkling. Shane knew how in love she was and he knew that this needed to be settled. He wasn't attempting to be a buda, or a therapist but she just needed to know why this little thing blew up into a firework display of stupidness.

He watched her fall onto the bed again and bury her face in her hands, "I feel like the biggest bitch," she muttered.

Shane sighed and leaned over, patting her head gently, "You're not. You didn't know what was going on."

After a bried pause, Kat dragged her hands down her face and looked at the boy next to her, "So, enough about me. Why are you here?"

He glanced up at her with a daring smirk and let out a chuckle, "I told you: Hooky."

Kat really did admire Shane's opinion on things, she loved how he never had a care in the world. Everything was open and so were oppertunities through his eyes.

She smiled at him, "Why?"

He shrugged, "I'm sick of it. Nate and Sarah locked themselves up, our parents are wondering what happened, Taylor and Jason can't keep their hands off of each other, your mom's worrying so I thought I'd be a good guy and check up on you."

Kat glanced at his messy dark hair and his now completely serious tone, "And... Angelika?" she asked quietly.

Shane stared at the ceiling, his hand on his chest, while the other supported his head. Kat had hit it right on the head, she knew what was going on, it wasn't really difficult. The only thing that confused her was that Shane never got like this, probably not even with Mitchie. He had thoroughly loved Mitchie Torress but this thing engraved in his mind with Angelika was a completely different, magical thing.

"Yeah, that too."

Kat sighed, "Are you okay?"

He shrugged and rubbed his stomache absent-mindedly, "She's got her head wrapped around Drake- he's a douche."

Kat grinned her hair fell infront of her eyes, "Why, cause she's interested in him?" she asked, while brushing it away.

"Yeah," Shane said quickly, "That's just not something a fucking roadie should do, you know? and I'M the one she kissed last summer, not 'Drake'," he said his name in a disgusted tone, glaring at nothing imperticular.

Kat sat up, her jaw dropping, "Oh yeah! She kissed you!"

Shane looked up at her and nodded slowly, "Yeah and I haven't forgotten but apparantly, she has."

"No, girl's don't forget that. Shane, you've gotta make your move, she probably thinks YOU aren't interested."

Shane stared at her and let out a groan, "But Drake's moving in now, i'm done."

Kat leaned forwards and grabbed his face, smushing his cheeks together, staring him dead in the eyes, "You aren't done Shane. Be a man, do what you have to, you're going to run out of time!"

Shane pushed her hands off of his face and sat up. His shoulders were pressed to hers as they sat side by side both with their arms wrapped around their knees. Everything was quiet, Kat had briefly earased her and Nate from her mind and was focused on Shane and Angelika. She couldn't get the surreal feeling that they could all triple date! Taylor and Jase, Shane and Ange and she and... and the thoughts are back.

"Don't worry, i'll do it and i'll blow that douchebag out of the waters," he said confidently.

Kat smiled weakly at him, "Good."

Shane looked at her, "What about you? Are you going to try?"

Kat shook her head and entertwined her fingers together, "No, he made it clear that it's done."

"Well... I hear our roadie's available," he mumbled.

"Not funny," she replied with a laugh, nudging him softly.

He grinned and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. Neither knew how it happened but suddenly and currently, they had a great relationship. Kat and Shane were going to be close friends in a weird kind of way. Even though they never really thought of each other as close friends, now that they were both here venting to each other, they were comfortable in calling each other that.

He let out a sigh and glanced at the red head, "Rother, I think we should get back to that venue."

Kat shook her head, "No, Shane, i'm not going."

"But here's the thing," he said quietly, looking her dead in the eye, "You've been sitting here, sulking, but you somehow seem to forget that Nate is in love with you."

"was." she emphasized.

Shane shook his head, "It was you assuming things, not him. He loves you."
