Days Left: 7

Sera was careful to lock the door behind her and use the window to slip out into the night. She even left a small lamplight on just to give the illusion that she was still inside working. No one could know where she was going, and no one could get suspicious and even look for her. That would ruin everything. Eight days left…but at this point it may have been seven…she had been sneaking across campus for a while so she assumed midnight had come and gone like a thief in the night. She hated having to hide from everything and everyone, it made travel go so much slower. Not to mention her little spree cost her some time…stealing chalk from most of the classrooms, salt from the kitchens, and more paper to create her seals. The bags of salt were starting to weigh down her arms as she adjusted them again and again, just trying to find a comfortable position to carry them all.

"So are going to tell me what is going on exactly, my dear? Or do I have to wait with bated breath to see the finale of this sad, sad, show?"

Sera jumped and hissed as she whirled around and stared down Mephisto floating only inches away from her. The jester knew exactly how to make her jump and she loathed it. Deep down, she knew he enjoyed it and to him that was all that mattered.

"What are you going on about?"

"You're sneaking around my campus, stealing my supplies and heading who knows where to do who knows what. I think I am entitled to ask some questions, aren't I?"

Sera rolled her eyes and sighed before she looked at him. She hadn't even bothered to stop walking, though she gave up on being stealthy with the brightly colored jester following her. Why try to hide in the shadows if a spotlight is following?

"I told you my work was to be uninterrupted."

"Am I interrupting?"

"Annoying me."

"But you are still walking towards your goal. I'm merely accompanying you."

Sera groaned loudly and shook her head, her disheveled braid finally giving up the ghost and falling apart as her long hair cascaded down her shoulders. It was clear how little she cared about herself…since her countdown had started her hair hadn't been cut or truly styled, her hair bearing the marks of multiple tight ponytails and buns. Not to mention her eyes were deeply sunken in and surrounded by bags blacker than the darkest night. Mephisto looked down at her with a sigh and tsked his tongue as he looked her over.

"My dear, I know what you need. You need more time."

"That is not a luxury I can afford, nor one you can give. You know that as well as I, clown."

"Sure, but the least you could do would be to keep up appearances. For the sake of the show! How willing would your co-stars be to play their part if they are too beside themselves worrying about you?"

Sera raised an eyebrow and looked at Mephisto finally ceasing in her march before placing a hand on her hip and popping it out as she silently gestured for him to continue.

"A spa day."

"A what?"

Sera couldn't control the face she made at his suggestion. A spa day? What good would that do? It would be a waste of time, not to mention…uncomfortable. Sera didn't want to be told to relax, she didn't that on her time…which was slowly becoming never.

"A. Spa. Day. You can hear me, yes? A day to relax and rejuvenate. You can't hope to put on the show of a lifetime when you are already drained and dead inside. What is a grand finale if the fireworks refuse to light?"

Sera slowly caught on to what he was saying…and as much as she wanted to tell him to shove it and continue charging forward…he had a point. Her plan would fall apart if she was exhausted…she had to be on her best.

"And if I agree?"

Mephisto smirked devilishly as he looked her over and winked. Sera felt a small pit in her stomach…he was going to enjoy this all too much…but what was he going to do?

"Then you get a spa day, free of charge. My treat to you for the show you are going to give us all."

Sera looked at her bags of stolen goods before back at him and raised an eyebrow.

"And what are you going to do with my goods?"

"Where were you taking them?"

Sera looked up at the tallest rooftop and slowly back at him before nodding. The conversation between them silent, but saying everything that was necessary. She assumed he knew everything of her plan, and if he didn't, he knew enough to be hopelessly intrigued.

"I see. Well then, we should be on our way, shouldn't we?"

As Sera went to open her mouth, he snapped his fingers and all she could see, hear and taste was a pop of purple smoke and away she went…she had no clue where until she heard a quiet voice interrupt her coughing fit.

"Ms. Sera? Are you ready?"

Sera's eyes snapped out and she whirled around before seeing Shiemi standing there with a basket full of towels and herbs.

"Shiemi…where am I?"

"Your spa day! I've been preparing it all day since the Headmaster asked!"

Of course Mephisto sent her here to spend time with Shiemi…he always did complain about how rough and tough she was and how she should be more delicate like Shiemi…well…maybe this day would go by fast…she had too much work to do to dally about…
