It was a simple tune, a soft melody that wouldn't leave her head no matter what she did. She couldn't deny that she liked it though, it had a soft and soothing croon that comforted her. The only problem was, she had no idea what the song was.

She'd never heard it before, didn't know what the lyrics said (if there was any). But it felt like it was a part of her, like she had known it from the very moment she was born. It was the last thing she heard before she drifted off to sleep each night, and the first to greet her when she stirred in the early morning. Sometimes, she could even hear a voice singing along, low and gentle, as if the voice was singing just for her.

She had driven herself crazy searching for the song, desperate to know what the title was and who had sung it. But there was nothing like it in the world, not even in another language. She tried artists from all the ages, even old opera stars who were long in the ground. Still, nothing.

So she turned to newer artists, hoping against all hope to hear just a syllable that would finally match the song.

Nothing.

Weeks of searching finally crawled into a year.

She had searched everywhere she could think of, every single underground and indie band and artist, unable to find the one song that held her soul captive.

Then, by chance, she heard it.

It was brief, but it was loud and clear.

She had been shopping that day with Lucy, forced to distraction from her desperate searching when it resonated in her chest, causing her to freeze in shock.

There was the voice she recognized, singing the song she knew so well.

She raced to the customer service kiosk, completely forgetting Lucy as tears began streaming down her face. Finally, she was going to find out who was singing to her, who rocked her to sleep and woke her. The one who wouldn't leave her head despite never meeting him.

Now, she was going to meet the man who was her soulmate.
