Chapter 24: The Second Great Digimon War
T.K.'s POV
We had set ourselves up behind a perfect little slop a little over three miles away from NeoDevimon's castle; we were waiting to hear from Izzy that Bravo Company was in position.
"I wonder if they've seen us," Matt asked out loud.
"Even if they have, I doubt they'll do anything about it," Tai commented.
Suddenly a voice came from Tai's D3, "Tai, come in Tai," it was Sora.
"We read you Sora," Tai grabbed his D3.
"Good, I got Izzy on the other line. The air squadron has reached our rally point." Sora answered.
"As have we underwater," Izzy jumped in, "There's a good amount of turned Deep Savers guarding the shoreline, but Plesiomon assures us that this will not interfere with our plan."
"Let's hope so," I replied, "Hold your position until you hear from one of us. Tell Joe not to forget to call in when he's done."
"Alright T.K.," Sora acknowledged.
"Roger that," Izzy acknowledged.
"Looks like we're ready to go T.K.," Tai said as he put his D3 away.
I turned to Darcmon who was acting as my runner, "Tell everyone to get into position and wait for my command."
"At once general," Darcmon acknowledged my order and took off.
I looked back to my friends, "Alright, I want us to pair up right now for when we're out there; that way we each have someone watching our backs."
"Sounds good," Matt commented, "How so?"
"Tai, you and Kari stay together; Matt, with me. We'll spread out on the field so we don't become a target." I answered, "Remember to be careful out there; as soon as we get the all clear from Joe, Kari will take command of the Digimon out here while the rest of us move in."
"Right," They all responded.
Atop KingWhamon
Izzy's POV
"You still there Sora," I asked into my D3.
"Yeah Izzy," she answered.
"Mimi with you," I'm right here Izzy.
"I'm here Izzy," Mimi answered.
I wanted to go over the plan one last time, "Alright so Plesiomon and the more aquatic Deep Savers will cover KingWhamon as he gets the rest of the Digimon to land. Obviously they will call it in; as soon as you see any reinforcements getting close to the shore that's when you guys will move in. Once we're on the shore, Joe and I will make our way to the sewer so one of you will have to come to the ground to oversee the Digimon; who's that gonna be?"
"I will," Mimi answered.
"You sure Mimi," Sora asked concerned.
"I want to do my part," Mimi answered.
"Ok Mimi, I answered, "Joe and I should be done within the same amount of time so we'll join you as soon as we can. Izzy…out."
"Izzy, wait," Mimi quickly stopped me.
"What is it Mimi," I asked.
"Please be careful in there," She answered sincerely.
I smiled a little bit, "I'll be fine Mimi; you be careful."
"I will," She answered.
I put my D3 away just as Joe came back over to talk to me, "You ready for this Izzy?"
"I guess we'll find out," I replied.
Dark Plain
T.K.'s POV
All the Digimon had gotten into their attack formations and formed up just behind the slop. The others and I were formed up in the center with the field generals. Everyone was waiting for my command; I had to take a quick moment for myself. I made sure that all my fears were nowhere in sight; I couldn't afford letting them get in my way. I reassured myself that we had a good plan and that what had to be done, had to be done. I took one last deep breath realizing I couldn't stall any longer;
"Piximon, I'm ready," I said to the little Digimon next to me.
He nodded and touched his spear to my armor, "I entrust you with the Holy DigiMemory." A silver light surrounded his spear and a cross emblem began to glow on my chest.
The lights faded and I could feel a new sense of power. I looked to Tai, Matt and Kari one last time and each of them nodded at me…it was time. I lifted my spear into the air and yelled, "Charge!"
As soon as I yelled that word the Digimon swarmed over the slop, each yelling their own battle cry, "Down with NeoDevimon!" "To victory!" "For the Digital World!" were among the ones I could hear. All us Digidestined took to the skies as we charged. No more than a minute after we began our charge, we could see a swarm of evil Digimon heading our way. Digimon from both sides began to call out their long range attacks; trying to hit one another from afar. The others and I were dodging attacks left and right; some Digimon were finding their targets on both sides. Finally we came with a close enough distance from each other that the attacks stopped. All of the sudden, time seemed to slow down for me; we had finally come to the moment of truth. I saw a Devidramon coming straight for me; I grabbed my spear, raised it up, slashed down as soon as it was in range and I sent it crashing to the ground. As I kept moving, I could see the two armies colliding around me; Tai, Matt and Kari were taking down some Digimon as well. I kept charging through the evil Digimon until a couple of Vilemon caught me off guard and dragged me down to the surface. I landed hard on my back, but I was still able to keep the Vilemon off me with my spear. Suddenly Matt came swooping by and tackled one of the Vilemon off me; he defeated that one while I'll dealt with the other. Matt flew back over to me,
"I got your back little brother," Matt said as he picked me up.
Before I could respond I saw another Vilemon coming from behind Matt. I pushed him aside and threw my spear at it, hitting my mark. Matt turned around shocked; I called my spear back to me and when Matt turned back around I said, "I got yours."
Tai and Kari flew down towards us, "You guys alright," Tai asked.
"Yeah," I answered.
"Looks like were coming to a standstill," Kari commented.
I looked around and Kari was right; the two armies had reached the point where they completely collide and the real battle could begin. "T.K.," Kari called my attention. I looked to our surroundings and saw that we were surrounded by Vilemon. We all took fighting stances and they began to move in. I looked to everyone else and we all nodded at each other knowing what to do next, "Terra Slash," "Rock Wolf Claw," Tai and Matt each called their attacks and took down half the Vilemon. "Seven Stars," I raised my spear above my head and seven orbs of light surrounded it I pointed my spear at the Vilemon and the orbs flew towards them and exploded on impact. "Holy Arrow," Kari pulled her bowstring back and a giant arrow of pink light formed; she released it and it flew towards the rest of the Vilemon and took them all down.
"That was incredible," Tai commented at mine and Kari's attacks.
"No time to celebrate," I said pointing out that more evil Digimon were coming. "Spread out and help the Digimon; Izzy and Joe will be moving in so keep an ear open for their call."
"Right," They all replied.
"Let's go Kari," Tai say as he turned to leave.
Kari went to follow him; she turned back around and looked at me worried. I nodded at her not to worry; she nodded back and turned around again to follow Tai.
I looked back at Matt, "Let's do this." He nodded back at me and we charged back into battle.
High above the shore
Sora's POV
I could see explosions in the distance and knew that the battle had started. I looked toward the castle and saw a second company of evil Digimon about to attack the land forces. I looked over at Mimi and she nodded at me knowing what I was thinking. I pulled out my D3,
"Come in Izzy," I said.
"What is it Sora," Izzy answered on the other line.
"It's time."
Atop KingWhamon
Izzy's POV
"Roger that," I answered Sora and put my D3 away, "Let's move out KingWhamon," I yelled.
"Yes general," KingWhamon answered back.
KingWhamon began to move in on the shoreline. A group of MarineDevimon saw him approaching and moved in on him. Luckily, Plesiomon and a few of his other mega level Deep Savers came up behind KingWhamon to defend him. I could see in the distance that our plan was working; the second company of evil Digimon had noticed us and was heading our way.
I pulled out my D3, "Sora, Mimi, the plans working; move in!"
"Right," they both replied reply
I put away my D3 and focused back on the battle. Some MarineDevimon had managed to get close to KingWhamon so Joe and I took action. "Tsunami Hammer," Joe caused waves to form and push the MarineDevimon back. "Thunder Buster," I shot down a couple of MarineDevimon that jumped out of the water trying to get on KingWhamon's island. I could see that the evil Digimon reinforcements were almost upon us, until the air squadron began to attack from the sky. We finally reached the shore and all the Digmon atop KingWhamon rushed off and began to engage NeoDevimon's forces on the shore. Joe and I jumped off the island and Mimi came flying down to us accompanied by Rosemon.
"You guys okay," Mimi asked.
"We're fine," Joe answered.
"My lady," Rosemon addressed Mimi, "we must see to the troops."
"She right Mimi," I added.
She nodded at me and turned back to Rosemon, "Let's go." With that Mimi and Rosemon charged into battle.
"Metal Empire, to me," I yelled. Andromon and his forces gathered around Joe and me, "Alright, the sewers in 100 yards north so let's move out."
"You heard the general," Andromon confirmed, "Move out."
Andromon, Joe and I led our group away from the main fighting to the emptying drain from the sewers leading to NeoDevimon's castle. It didn't take us too long to get through the sewers and into the castle; once in, we began phase two.
"Alright Joe, take these twenty Guardromon and go get our Digimon out of here," I ordered, "Go down that corridor, into the castle and it's the third chamber on the right."
"You got it Izzy," Joe acknowledged. He turned to the group of Digimon, "Let's go." They all followed Joe.
"Andromon, you and the Knightmon will come with me to destroy Hypnos," I informed the remaining Digimon.
"Yes sir," they all answered.
Joe and I shook hands and went our separate ways. My group quickly ran to the nearest stairs and head down to where they were keeping Hypnos. We met no resistance making our way down; our plan was working. We finally reached the chamber where Hypnos was and Andromon blasted down the door. When the smoke cleared I cringed; NeoDevimon had left Diaboromon to watch Diaboromon.
"Welcome back Digidestined of Knowledge," Diaboromon said mockingly, "My master knew you would be back to try and stop us."
"Try nothing," I yelled back, "I won't let you use Hypnos for NeoDevimon's plans anymore."
He laughed, "Too late." Diaboromon pressed a button on the master computer and Hypnos was activated.
"No," I yelled and charged. Before I could reach him I felt a presence above me. An Infermon came falling from the celling so I jumped back. Then, more Infermon dropped down as well; Diaboromon was prepared.
"Destroy the Digidestined," Diaboromon ordered and the Infermon charged.
Before one could get to me, Andromon jumped in front of me and took it out. "Knightmon, protect the general, he must get to that computer." The Knightmon began to spread out and take on the Infermon.
I ran through the fighting Digimon to the computer, but Diaboromon was waiting for me, "No one's here to stop me now boy," he taunted.
"Well let's see how you do against an unchained opponent," I responded.
I knew I had to get by Diaboromon soon before Hypnos broke through the inter-dimensional barrier. As I prepared to fight, I couldn't help hoping that Joe was having an easier time than me.
Joe's POV
I led my group through NeoDevimon's castle according to Izzy's instructions; NeoDevimon's castle seemed to empty just like according to plan. We finally made our way to the chamber that was holding our Digimon. I didn't want to take any chances so I crept up to the door and opened it slightly. I could see two Devidramon guarding the Digimon, but nothing else.
"Hold here," I ordered the Guardromon, "I'll handle this."
I drew my hammer, took a deep breath and burst into the room. Before the Devidramon could react, I ran up to one and knocked it out easily. The other one tried to grab me but my training was paying off and it couldn't touch me. I finally saw an opening and hit the Devidramon in the stomach and then immediately hit it in the face; it fell backwards, completely knocked out.
"Move in," I yelled at the door. The Guardromon came filing in as I walked over to Ikkakumon, "You're gonna be alright buddy."
The Guardromon lined up behind me, "Your orders general?"
I turned around to them, "Break into pairs and carry out the Digimon; and just one grab Gatomon. The five of you left over will cover the others; we're gonna head for the gate leading to the shore."
"Yes sir," They all said as they assigned themselves to the tasks.
As soon as they were ready we made our way through the castle as quick as possible. As we headed towards the gate, I could see another couple of Devidramon guarding our exit. I ordered the Guardromon to attack them and we caught them off guard. As soon as the Devidramon were taken care of, I ordered them to blast the door down. As we stepped out of the castle, I took the flare that Piximon had given me and shot it into the air.
Dark Plain
T.K.'s POV
I had just taken down another small group of Vilemon when I heard Matt yell, "T.K.!"
I looked over at him and he pointed towards NeoDevimon's castle and I noticed a small flare in the sky. I looked back over to Matt,
"Where's Tai," I asked.
Matt began to look around until, "There."
I looked over to where Matt was pointing and saw Tai fighting a Devidramon while Kari was shooting down Vilemon. I started to fly towards them; Matt followed. As we reached them, Tai had just taken down the Devidramon and Kari had noticed us coming. Tai walked ran over to us as we landed.
"What's up guys," He asked breathing heavily.
"We saw Joe's flare," I answered, "It's time."
All three of us got quiet for a second until Kari came up behind Tai, "What's wrong?"
"Joe just gave us the signal," Tai answered.
"Oh," was all Kari could reply.
I broke the silence before anything bad happened, "Alright guys, we know what we have to do."
Tai and Matt nodded and I turned to Kari, "Kari, you're in charge out here until we get back."
She walked up to me, "You are gonna come back right?"
I didn't know how to answer her. She made me promise to come back, but I didn't know if I was a promise could keep.
"Oh no," Matt said before I could answer Kari, "Guys, look!"
We all turned our attention to NeoDevimon's castle and saw a giant laser coming out the top; we could only assume it was Hypnos. The laser fired into the sky and began hit an invisible barrier which we knew led to the other dimension where the Seven Demon Lords were trapped.
"Shit, NeoDevimon must have finished it sooner than Izzy thought," Matt said.
"What do we do T.K.," Tai asked.
I looked at Kari and apologized with my eyes, "We stick to the plan; Izzy said he'll take of it, if he needs help we have to leave that to Sora and the others. We gotta move, now!"
"Right," Tai and Matt said together.
Tai walked over to Kari and hugged her. Then he and Matt took off into the sky. I was about to follow but Kari grabbed my hand
"Remember your promise," She said.
I squeezed her hand and then took off after the others. When I caught up to Tai and Matt I could still see the look of doubt in their faces, "This is for both worlds guys," I reminded them.
They both nodded at me and then we all sped up towards NeoDevimon's castle. I looked back towards the battle one last time thinking about how I wished I didn't have to break my promise to Kari, but as of that moment, I knew I had no choice.
Above the Shoreline
Sora's POV
I had been riding around on Hououmon high above the battle from some time and I was getting restless; our air squadron was having a hard time with the giant group of GranKuwagamon and Dinobeemon. I noticed a Gigadramon causing trouble for the ground forces,
"Hououmon, get me over that Gigadramon," I ordered.
"At once my lady," she replied.
Hououmon pushed past the other evil Digimon and got a good 300 feet above Gigadramon. I stood up, took a deep breath and jumped off. As I was falling towards the Digimon, I drew my star; when I was close enough I called my attack "Wind Blade," and threw my star. The pressure from my attack caused the Gigadramon to fall towards the ground unconscious. I opened my wings so I could land on the ground safety. As soon I landed, I noticed Mimi fighting; she grabbed a Vilemon with her whip and sent a shock through the whip at him; then she grabbed another one a whirled him around and threw him at some other Vilemon. Suddenly, I noticed Joe's squad running down from the castle.
"Rosemon," I called to the Digimon with Mimi, "we need to go help Joe."
"Yes my lady," she replied. "You Kabuterimon follow us," she ordered. We headed towards Joe pushing any evil Digimon out of our way.
When we met up with them Rosemon ordered the Digimon, "Help these Guardromon get the Digidestineds' Digimon to KingWhamon, immediately!" They all acknowledged the order and helped out. I couldn't help but smile as I saw Lilymon pass by.
We walked over to Joe, "You okay," I asked
"Yeah," he answered, "There wasn't too much trouble. How are things out here?"
"We keep taking out some of their forces, but it's like they're healing themselves somehow," I answered.
"Well, all we can do is hold our position," Joe commented, "It's up to the others now."
"Wait," Mimi interjected, "where's Izzy?"
"He's not out yet," Joe asked confused.
"Something's wrong," Mimi said worried, "I can feel it."
Before we could say another word, Mimi opened her wings and took off towards the castle. "Mimi, wait," I yelled at her to no avail.
"Let her," Joe stopped me, "We need to stay out here and help the Digimon; if he's really in trouble Mimi will call us."
I nodded in agreement knowing Joe was right. I lifted up my hand and called my star back to me. Joe grabbed his hammer and we ran back into battle. I could only hope that Mimi and Izzy would be okay.
NeoDevimon's castle
T.K.'s POV
Tai, Matt and I made our way into and through NeoDevimon's castle with ease. There were only a handful of Devidramon around guarding the castle, but we were taking them out easily. Soon we found ourselves in front of NeoDevimon's throne room. I looked over at Tai and Matt one last time, took a deep breath and kicked in the door.
"Well, well, well," NeoDevimon said mockingly, "I knew it was just a matter of time before you showed up Hope."
"This ends now NeoDevimon," I yelled back as I took my fighting stance.
"It's too late Digidestined," NeoDevimon replied as he pointed to the sky roof, "My new weapon is already doing its job; destroying all inter-dimensional barriers."
"We're not gonna let you free the Seven Demon Lords," Tai yelled.
NeoDevimon laughed, "Six actually."
"What do mean," Matt asked angrily, "we were told there were seven of them."
"And there are," NeoDevimon said manically, "but the original warriors who faced us missed one."
"Us," I asked aloud, "You mean…"
"Yes Hope," NeoDevimon interjected, "I am a Demon Lord."
"No way," Tai said allowed.
"I was once Daemon, the Demon Lord of Wrath. However, during the First Great Digimon War I was injured to the point of reverting back to a Digi-egg. For centuries I have waited for the chance to seek my revenge. I was close to doing so eight years ago, but you stopped me. However, once I became data, I was able to contact my comrades in their imprisonment and they gave me the power to reach this form; and once I free them, I shall return to my true form. Then nothing will stand in our way as we take this world and yours."
"Wanna bet," Tai screamed as he charged him. "Terra Slash," Tai screamed as his sword lite on fire. However, before he could make contact with NeoDevimon, a red glow stopped Tai's attack and sent him flying back towards us.
"Tai," I ran over to pick him up.
"What the hell was that," Matt asked out loud.
NeoDevimon laughed, "You children know nothing of the power you held. The DigiMemories give the bearer a special domain over the fields; now that I possess all the DigiMemories I am immune to the elements they represent…" NeoDevimon then summoned all the DigiMemories to surround him in a ring, "…in other words, none of your attacks will work on me."
"Ok, this just got difficult," Tai said as he got up, "how are we supposed to hurt him?"
"Piximon said I should be able to use the Holy DigiMemory to retrieve the others," I answered, "but he didn't exactly say how."
"So what do we do," Tai asked concerned.
I looked over at NeoDevimon and all I could think about was wiping that stupid smile off his face, "I bet if we weaken him or catch him off guard, which might work?"
"How can we weaken him if we can't attack him," Matt asked frustrated.
"He just said the elemental attacks can't hurt him," I hinted, "Besides, he doesn't have the Holy DigiMemory; my attacks still work."
We all nodded at each other and took our fighting stances, "We're not gonna let you get away with this NeoDevimon," I yelled.
He laughed, "Try and stop me," he said manically.
"You asked for it," I replied. Tai, Matt and I charged NeoDevimon.
Hypnos Chamber
Izzy's POV
Neither side was giving way in the fight to get to the Hypnos computer. The Infermon outnumbered us almost two to one and this Diaboromon was just as much a handful as the one we fought on the internet. I was barely dodging his "Cable Crusher" attacks and he was dodging my "Thunder Buster" and knocking away my axes when I tried to throw them. Before I could call my axes back, he finally caught me off guard; his arm came swinging around and hit me. He grabbed me, threw me to the ground and pinned me down.
He stood over me, "You've failed Digidestined." I struggled to get free, but to no avail. "Now you die," He said manically.
Before he could deliver the final blow I heard a yell from the door, "Izzy," it was Mimi.
Diaboromon and I looked over at Mimi as she sent her whip flying towards Diaboromon. He quickly knocked away the whip and sent his other arm flying towards Mimi and pinned her to the wall.
"Mimi," I yelled.
"Izzy," she yelled back.
"Stupid girl," Diaboromon interjected.
"You shut up," I yelled angrily.
He tightened his grip on me, "Oh so Knowledge has a girlfriend; maybe I should take care of her first."
"Izzy," Mimi screamed as Diaboromon tighten his grip around her.
"Let her go," I yelled, but Diaboromon just laughed. Something started to come over me and I could feel myself breaking the grip. I got my hands free and called my axes back to me, "I said…Let her go!" I cut his hand with my axes and the pain caused him to let go of me and Mimi.
I rushed over to Mimi's side, "Mimi, are you okay?"
"I'm fine," she said catching her breath, "I guess I am always getting into trouble huh?"
I couldn't help but smile, "Oh Mimi." I could hear Diaboromon recovering and I had an idea, "Mimi, take this," I handed her the flash drive, "I'm going to distract Diaboromon; you run over to the computer and insert the virus into Hypnos."
"Are you sure Izzy," Mimi asked nervously.
"I tutored you in computers last semester; you know what to do," I reassured her.
"You'll pay for that," Diaboromon yelled at us.
I put my arm in front of me, "You're fights with me Diaboromon; let's finish this," I said as I charged at him.
"Gladly," Diaboromon replied as he charged back.
Mimi's POV
As Izzy began fighting Diaboromon again, I made my way through the fighting to the computer. When I reached it I found a port for the flash drive and put it in. The drive came up on the screen and I could see a file labeled "Hypnos."
"No," I could hear Diaboromon yell.
Izzy took advantage of his confusion and knocked him over, "Do it Mimi!"
I dragged the file onto the computer desktop and once it was the computer started to pixelate. I could hear the machine shutting itself down.
"Alright Mimi," Izzy yelled excited.
I ran back over to him and hugged him. However, Diaboromon was back up, "No matter, you are only delaying the inevitable! The Demon Lords will rise again; this world, and yours, will belong to them!"
"I'm really tired of hearing him yell," I commented.
"Agreed," Izzy added.
"Die," Diaboromon screamed as he charged at us.
Izzy and I looked at each other and nodded. We charged our weapons and just before Diaboromon could touch us, "Thunder Buster," "Flower Shock," we released our attacks and Diaboromon was deleted. As soon as he was done we started to help Andromon and the others take care of the Infermon.
NeoDevimon's Throne Room
T.K.'s POV
Tai, Matt, and I were having a bit of trouble in confronting NeoDevimon; Tai and Matt could only use melee attacks on him which either barely touched him or didn't even faze him. I was trying my best to use my attack on him, but he kept stopping me before I could. Not to mention, we were dodging his "Guilty Claw" left and right. Suddenly, we all noticed that the beam from Hypnos was fading.
"Alright," Tai yelled, "Izzy did it!"
"Damn," NeoDevimon cursed.
I noticed that NeoDevimon was distracted so I took my chance, "Seven Stars," NeoDevimon turned around once he heard my attack but he was too late. My attack hit its mark and disoriented him. Tai and Matt took advantage of this; Tai flew towards him and gave him an upper cut with the hilt of his sword, while Matt came from behind and took out his legs from under him with his claws. NeoDevimon fell on his back and we all hovered above him, "Seven Stars, "Terra Slash," "Rock Wolf Claw," we all attacked him together. A cloud of dust covered the room as we landed back on the floor.
"We finally got him," Matt proclaimed.
"Quick, let's get the DigiMemories from him," Tai suggested.
As they approached him, I felt that sense I had always gotten when around darkness, "Guys, no!"
I was too late. NeoDevimon let out a burst of energy from the DigiMemories causing Tai and Matt to fly back with great force and knocked them unconscious. I charged towards NeoDevimon out of anger, but he caught me in his claws.
"Foolish children," He yelled angrily as he tightened his grip around me. I let out a scream of pain.
