Chapter 25

Alex trembled as she watched the guards arrange a romantic table setting for two. She could only imagine the sort of scum that would come to a prostitution ring, even worse yet, the kind that purposefully sought out women that had never been exposed to this life before. The whole scene brought a vile taste to her throat. Desperately she wished that this man would cancel but the likelihood of that happening was slim to none. She was given a proper bath from the other girls and a beautiful black gown that glistened at her every curve. The chemise set underneath made her feel even more breathless as her hair was done and her make up applied. "Focus on something else. Not the ones you love, anything but them when it happens." She was told.

Alex turned towards the knock on the door and felt her heart sink. She had set in her mind that she would focus on the distasteful appearance of the man that was to be her first ill-welcomed lover in this ring, but the man who entered the room was not what she expected. He wore a crisp Armani suit and was clean cut and well groomed. She struggled to think of why a man who screamed power and money they way he did, would want someone like her.

As she sat across from him she could hear Gaven's voice lecturing her. 'Be polite and show him a good time. He's paid a fortune to have you.' She remembered the way he had slid the back of his fingers down her spine after tucking her hair behind her ear when he had wiped the tear that had fallen from her eye. She remembered how he had laughed at her when she had begged for him not to make her do this. Alex sat across from the man, crossing her legs to keep her most vital region concealed, but the fabric of her dress only slid aside exposing her legs.

Jael took his place across from Alex. She looked utterly terrified, though she was certainly trying to put on a brave face. Even in her current state though he could see why Brian had fallen for her. Though she was dressed in a stunning manor, her green eyes were extraordinary. "Don't fret dear girl. You will not know me in that way tonight." He could see the relief and the confusion come to her eyes in waves. "Tonight, we simply feast like civil people and share conversation similarly."

Jael straightened as they were served and began telling Alex about his business and his marriage, as if his words were truth in carnet. "My wife is not as fond of my collection of classic cars as I would like. She finds the idea a bit childish in all honesty. Though she does have an appreciation for the 1970 Charger. It's a beautiful beast of a car. I call her Black Beauty."

All this talk of cars made Alex's heart ache for Brian and the family she had grown to love. She knew that Dom had a '70 Charger and missed the thought of him and Letty. "Does your wife have any other cars she likes?" She asked, only because she knew she had to make conversation. Jael smiled at her. "Why yes. She also appreciated the Nissan Skyline that I owned, though I suspect she may appreciate the driver I sold it to more. He's a taller fellow, though I forget his name. Byron…Brookston…I don't know. He was a nice enough young man and paid well." At that moment her eyes met his and Jael could see that spark in them as she had finally figured out his secret.

As they evening came to a close Jael noticed how Alex seemed a little more comfortable, that is until it was time for him to leave. Jael helped her stand. He could see that she desperately wanted to back away from him but didn't for fear of something more dangerous happening to her. Carefully he wrapped his arms around her and brought her close, hiding his lips from the hidden cameras in her hair. He inhaled deeply and quietly whispered, "I'm sorry for scaring you. I promise you that we will get you out of here." He continued to whisper, hoping that Alex would follow his lead. "I need to you to look afraid. Act like I'm whispering details of what I am supposed to do to you. Come up with some in your head so Gaven won't figure out we're lying. Brian is in the city with Dom. I'll come back and talk again. I am sorry for having to touch you and I am very sorry for everything that you have gone through and may still go through. I promise you we will get you out." He told her quietly still. Pull away briefly, he could see the tears falling from the outer corners of her eyes. He curved his lips in a small, warming smile and bent to kiss her forehead for a long moment. "Until we meet again love." He said, taking a step back from her. "And I most look forward to it." He added, feeling as if there was a knife twisting in his gut as he watched Alex sink to the floor when he turned away.

Gaven awaited him down the hallway with a look of concern. "Why didn't you fuck her?" He demanded. Jael glanced to Gaven without so much as a single hint of surprise. "I have a method Mr. Ridge, which is why I paid for the full week."

"And what method is that? Wasting my time?"

"If you must know Mr. Ridge, I lure the women into a false sense of security. I wine them. I dine them. I do nothing more than a simple kiss and promises of sexual experiences in the future and then leave them to their own thoughts. Did you not notice how the Angel became more comfortable with me as the meal went on? She nearly forgot why I am here. By the end of the week she'll be in such a state that when I do finally take her, she won't be able to do anything but be broken."
