A/N: Happy Halloween you guys! This chapter, Jamie is twelve and Sophie is six.

Warning: Mentions of blood in this chapter.

Disclaimer: Nope, not my characters. Except for Eve, my friend and I made her up. Even then, we probably aren't the first to think of this.

Sophie stood still for once as Jamie helped adjust her wig. This year she was Elsa from Frozen. Jamie himself was dressing up as a pirate. He had a plastic sword strapped to his side and everything.

"You ready to go Soph?" he asked his little sister.

"Yeah!" she cheered, and blew by him out the door.

Jamie's mom laughed. "You'd better go catch her." Jamie smiled, waved goodbye and ran out after his little sister.

When he stepped outside, a snowflake landed on his nose. "Oh, for heaven's sake. This is the third winter in a row that it's snowed on Halloween," he heard his mom say. Jamie couldn't help but grin. Snow on Halloween meant one thing.

"Jack?" he called. Sophie froze at the name and started looking around,

"Is Jackie here?" she asked.

"She must be. It's snowing."

"Yeah, funny how that happens," a familiar voice rang out behind them. Both kids spun around to see the familiar face of Jackie Frost.

"Jack!" Jamie cried. He ran over and gave her a hug, something he would never do to any other girl. But this was Jack, she was the exception.

She laughed and hugged him back. "Look at you. You look wonderful this year." She glanced at Sophie. "And what a pretty queen! Would you allow me to accompany you, Queen Elsa?" she asked, bowing deeply.

That made Sophie laugh. "Can you?"

"Sure, for a little while anyway."

"Well before we go trick-or-treating, we have to wait for the others. Claude, Caleb, Pippa and Cupcake are coming too," Jamie said.

"No Monty this year?"

"He doesn't want to go trick-or-treating," Jamie said sadly.

"Yeah, it happens to everyone eventually." Jack flashed a grin. "Doesn't mean the rest of us can't have fun now does it?"

A few minutes later the twins arrived, followed quickly by the girls. Caleb was superman, Claude was batman, Pippa was a witch and Cupcake was a cupcake (which made Jack laugh really hard and high five Cupcake for that.)

They all set off on the hunt for candy. At each house, the kids held their bags out and Jackie hung behind, watching. She had a grin on her face the entire time.

"Do you like Halloween, Jack?" Pippa asked.

"Yeah, I love it. Some spirits can even be seen on Halloween, since it's a time where tons of kids believe in almost anything!"

"Can anyone see you?" Caleb asked.

Jack smiled sadly. "No, they can't. I think if I was actually Jack Frost, as in a guy, then maybe. But no one even thinks that I might be a girl. So no, I'm still invisible."

For a few seconds. No one said anything. Then Jack said, "Come on, perk up. There's candy still left in some of these houses and it's our job to change that!"

About an hour later, Sophie was tired and the kid's bags were filled to the rim with candy. After seeing Sophie yawning, Jamie announced that they needed to get home. They said their goodbyes and walked back to their house. Jackie watched them go. She was about to say something to the other kids when a loud cry rang out through the night. "JACK!"

She and every kid nearby froze. The kids looked around nervously while their parents asked them what was wrong. But Jackie froze in terror. She knew that voice.

"Jack? Are they talking about you?" Caleb asked.

"Whose 'they'?" Cupcake demanded.

"I need to go. I'll see you guys later, alright?" Jack said quickly. Before any of the kids could ask what was wrong, Jack flew off.

'Please let nothing be wrong.' Jack was worried. She knew that voice well, and the voice sounded scared, which was enough to whip Jack into a frenzy. The girl didn't do 'scared'. She did 'scare'. If something scared her, there was a big problem.

The voice seemed to be coming from an alley, which was not a comfort. Sure enough, to Jack's horror, a young girl was lying on the ground. She looked a bit younger than Jack, about fourteen or fifteen, and was wearing a pair of black pants and an orange tee shirt that read 'Keep calm and scare on'. Her hair was auburn and cut short. What really caught Jack's attention though was the blood running down the girl's face. Oh, and maybe one other thing.

"Eve! Are you alright?" she cried, racing to her cousin's side.

Between the two of them, Jack was pretty sure she had gotten the short end of the stick. Eve Hallows the spirit of Halloween, could be seen by everyone, kids and adults, on Halloween night. Normally she handed candy out to little kids and scared the older kids. She had this cool ability to change her outfit and face into the thing that would scare that person most. Jack liked to say that she was basically a Bogart from Harry Potter.

"Do I look alright?" Eve grumbled. "Help me up."

How exactly are they cousins? When they first met, over two hundred years ago, they instantly recognized each other. Neither knew how but they felt some sort of connection. Maybe it was Manny that gave them the idea, but the idea of them being cousins just popped into both of their heads. So that's what they stuck with.

"What happened?" Jack asked.

"Not sure. Maybe some prankster spirit. Probably nothing."

"Then why did you yell for me?" Jack asked. "Not that seeing you is a bad thing, just you gave me a heart attack."

"Well, partly because I wanted you to beat them up. Partly because I wanted you to summon some ice for my head." She whipped some blood that was about to drip into her eyes away. "But mostly because I needed your attention so I could yell at you."

She threw her hands out and gestured around them. "Snow. Again. On my holiday. When it snows, it ruins a lot of costumes because they have to bundle up! I talked to you last year about this, and I'll say it again; leave Burgess alone. If I see snow next year, I'm going to get Forrest to come help me kick you out."

Jack paled slightly. Forrest is the spirit of autumn, and she and the other seasonal spirit never got along well. "You wouldn't."

"I would."

"I'm stronger than him and you know it. Besides, don't think you could take my on yourself?"

"With strength? I know I couldn't. I'm not stupid, Jack. But if I fought you I probably would win anyways."

"Is that so?"

"You wouldn't want to hurt me. I have no problem roughing you up, especially if it's to protect my holiday."

Jack pouted. "That's not fair. That is just me being nice and you being mean."

"Survival of the strongest or meanest."

"That's not how the saying goes."

"Think I care?"

They glared at each other for a few moments, Jack out of slight annoyance, Eve because she refused to back down. Finally, Jack broke the silence. "Okay, fine. I'll leave Burgess alone."

Eve smirked. "Thank you Jack."

A sly grin crept up on Jack's face. "But Canada will never be safe!" With that she flew off as fast as she could. Eve stood there for a second, rolled her eyes, and went back to enjoying her holiday.

A/N: So if you're wondering about Eve Hallows, she's a character that my friend and I made up last spring. Kind of an inside joke, actually. Basically, Eve is supposed to be me, only as a spirit. Long story. Anyways, I hope you like her and don't mind that I gave Jackie a cousin. Hope everyone has a great Halloween!
