Chapter Twenty-Four
Isabella sat at her vanity, getting ready for dinner with her family. She couldn't do anything but smile the last week. Paul done something for her that she would always be thankful for. She was reconnected with the family she had always missed. She smiled as she put on her makeup and got dressed.
She dressed in her new calf length lavender dress. The top came off her shoulders and the back was open. She paired it with a pair of silver heels and her diamond earrings and necklace. She left her hair to fall around her bare shoulders and back.
"You look absolutely beautiful baby." Paul said, walking into the room and stepping behind her.
"Thank you. Are you ready?"
"I am. There is a car waiting for us to take us to the house. Apparently we are going to the country house."
"Well then, lets not keep them waiting."
Isabella grabbed her shoulder wrap and clutch and followed Paul out the door. She got into the car and watched as they left the city. Houses passed by and was replaced with beautiful countryside. Fields of flowers and trees rolled by. After about an hour long car ride, they pulled onto a country road that led to a beautiful ivy covered house.
Waiting on the front steps for them was Edwardo, Sr. When the car stopped he walked down the steps to meet them. He opened Isabella's door and pulled her into a hug when she stepped out.
"Isabella. You look beautiful. How are you?"
"Very well thank you, Grandpa."
"Good. Hello, Paul. Nice to see you again."
"You too sir." Paul shook his hand.
"Let's get inside. Everyone is waiting for you." Edwardo led them into the large foyer.
Isabella marveled at how beautiful her family's home was. Marble ran down the halls and beautiful decorated wallpaper adorned the walls, along with family portraits. As they walked down the hall, she stopped at a portrait just outside the sitting room. It was of her mother, her father and herself. She was five when it was painted. She remembered she couldn't keep still and her mother kept getting on to her. After it was done, her dad took her out to get ice cream, much to her mother's dislike.
"You were a cute kid." Paul chuckled.
"Yeah. Guess so. Looking back at this makes me realize how much Renee never really wanted a child. Grandpa made her do this since we were his family, too. I imagine soon we will be doing the same."
"Well, I look forward to it. Maybe soon we can add a little Lahote to the picture." He whispered the last part.
Isabella looked to him with a slight shocked look but then smiled. It was the first time Paul spoke of them having children. She gave him a kiss and walked them into the sitting room where everyone was waiting. Not only was her family she seen last week there, but family she hadn't seen since she was a kid were there.
"Nana Lydia! Papa Murphy! Oh its wonderful to see you again. You both look so good."
"There's my beauty. How are you love?" Lydia hugged her. Now looking at Lydia, you wouldn't think she was almost 80. She kept a clean neat appearance and always looked like royalty.
"I'm wonderful. I would like you to meet my husband, Paul. Paul, this is Nana Lydia and Papa Murphy. This is Grandpa's parents. Nana, Papa, Paul Lahote."
" Its a pleasure to meet you."
"You look like a fine young man. I hope you are treating my beauty with respect and loyalty?" Lydia asked.
"Yes, ma'am. I wouldn't dare treat her less than she deserves. She literally saved my life and I would go to the ends of the universe to make and keep her happy."
"Wonderful answer my boy. Welcome to the family." Murphy stood and shook his hand.
"Well, let us retreat to the dining room. Zelda has prepared a marvelous welcome home meal." Edwardo, Sr. announced.
Idle chatter went around the table during diner. Everyone discussing Isabella and Paul's wedding and when they may see some little ones running around. Isabella just told them when the time is right they would have one.
Paul sat back and watched how happy his wife was with her family. He knew they would have to come around more during special events. He wanted Isabella to be happy being with family as she was with him and his.
"Paul, how about you join us men in the parlor. Let the ladies chit chat." Murphy slapped his shoulder and he stood.
"Of course." He gave Isabella a kiss and wink as he followed the other men out of the room.
"My beauty you have done well with that one. May I ask something?"
"Of course Nana."
"Is he financially able to provide for you and my future grandchildren in the long run?"
"Yes, Nana. He owns his father's business now and is the second to his friend who owns thriving businesses. He will also have the family restaurant if something should happen. He takes care of me and spoils me. I want for nothing."
"Wonderful. I was upset when I learned of how Renee treated you and the passing of Charlie. I thought highly of him. I'm happy to see you doing well for yourself. Your Papa and I would like to give you a gift. It won't cover the many important moments in your life but we want you to know we love you." Lydia slid an envelope over to her granddaughter.
Isabella took it and opened it. She gasped at what she saw. Inside was a generous amount of money.
"Nana, I can't accept this."
"Nonsense. Its rightfully yours. Consider it a wedding gift. Use it as you would like. Your mother kept us away from you and we never got to be there. This is only a portion of what you are entitled to."
Isabella hugged Lydia. "Thank you, Nana."
"Well, since the two of you are here, I would like to take a family photo to remember this day. I'll go fetch the men and we will meet in the sitting room." Marie walked to the men's parlor and gathered them.
Everyone found a spot on sofas or standing while Edwardo, Jr set the camera. He put it on the timer and found his place with his wife and children. The camera ticked away then flashed. After the picture, Isabella and Paul began saying their goodbyes.
"I left my address on the hall table. Please write and send me a copy of the picture. I hope we see you again before we head home." She hugged her grandparents.
"We will little dove. Be careful. We love you."
"And I love you all."
She finished hugging the family and left. The car took them back to their hotel where she showed Paul what Lydia and Murphy had given her.
"That was generous of them. When we get home we will put it in an account for our children."
"You know, I've never heard you talk of kids until we came around my family."
"Let's just say they gave me the extra push. I want children, I just thought I'd want them later on."
"And now?"
"I want to get started." Paul crashed his lips to hers. Isabella over came the shock quickly and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Paul lifted her up and carried her to the bedroom. Once there he put her down and turned her around. He moved her hair over her shoulder and undone her necklace and slowly pushed the zipper down her back, letting his fingers graze her skin.
As her dress pooled around her feet, Isabella could feel her own wetness pooling between her legs. She closed her eyes and leaned into her husband's kisses along her shoulders and neck. She put her arm behind his neck and pulled at his hair. She turned around and caught his lips in hers and started undressing him.
When he was out of his clothes, Paul gently laid Isabella on the bed and hovered over her. He stared into her eyes as he pushed inside her. He smirked at the sound of her pleasured moans.
"I love you." He kissed her.
"And I love you."
He spent the night making slow love to his wife. Not once or twice, but multiple times. It wasn't because he wanted children, it was because he loved her deeper than he ever thought possible. He wanted her to know his love for her each and every time.
After their many love making sessions, Paul laid on his side and watched as Isabella slept. He traced her face and features. He thanked God for bringing this woman into his life. After being around her family and hearing the stories, he made his promise to love her unconditionally and with every ounce of respect he could give.
He closed his eyes and pulled her into his chest, breathing in her scent. Paul Lahote was now a tamed man, and he had no regrets on the lion tamer.
