After lunch Vivian went with her dad and Hunter out to a local firing range and soon she had proved her skills were still sharp. Hunter decided to challenge her asking if she had ever shot a sniper rifle.

"Ever shot a M107?"

"No, only in my dreams. You got one I can shoot?" Hunter then motioned for her to follow him into huge hanger like building where there were long-range targets. She couldn't help the smile on her face now as she crossed to where Hunter was setting up the rifle for her to shoot.

"Come over here and lets put a target out there for you at a 1000 yards. Get you used to the gun." Vivian had a grin on her lips as she laid down next to the rifle. Hunter laid next to her as he told her how the gun would kick when fired. She just grinned at him before putting her hands around the gun, putting her eye on the scope and pulling the trigger. She fired off five fast rounds before pulling back and looking at Hunter. He pulled her target in and was amazed to see a nice cluster just above the center mark. He put on a fresh target and sent it out to 1750 yards and motioned for Vivian to give that a shot. She took a breath before firing another set of shots and this time her cluster wasn't as tight, but it was closer to the center of the target. Hunter was impressed with her shots and set out one last target for her to shoot at. He sent it to 2250 yards now and once she was done and he pulled it back in, she had hit one shot dead center and the others were close.

They all three went outside where Jack looked over Vivian's targets, impressed with how well his daughter had done. She was about to climb into her dad's car when Hunter stopped her.

"Vivian, can I ask you something." Jack smiled as he climbed into the driver's seat, trying not to seem to overly enthused by Hunter attention to his daughter.

"Sure, what's up?"

"I was wondering if you would like to go to dinner tonight?" Vivian got lost in his smile for a moment, but when she focused on his eyes, she could only see Sherlock's.

"I'm sorry, I fly out tomorrow and I want to spend my last evening here with my dad. Maybe another time, I'll come back and hit every target dead center." Her smile told Hunter there was someone else on her mind, so he didn't push the issue.

"Well have a safe flight." As Vivian got into the car, Jack could see the disappointment in Hunter and knew she had declined his offer.

"What did Hunter have to say?"

"Dad you called him over today so that he would ask me to dinner. If I wasn't already interested in someone then I would have taken Hunter up on dinner tonight, but I have someone waiting on me back in London."

"Pumpkin I'm just trying to look out for you. Hunter is a good seal and a damn good man. He would treat you right, they way you deserve."

"Dad, I know your trying to make sure I'm happy and all, but let me do this on my own." She looked out the window and Jack knew she was pissed at him, but he was her father and he would still worry about her. Vivian hardly spoke to him that evening and before she went up to bed she stood in the doorway of his study where he was busy working.

"Dad, just give him a chance. That is all I can ask from you." Jack looked up from his desk and thought for a moment that he was looking at his late wife. He smiled at his daughter, she was no longer the scared little girl he once knew.

"If he means this much to you, I will give him a chance pumpkin." Vivian came into the room and kissed her dad on his head as she hugged him.

"Goodnight Daddy. Don't stay up too late." She then went to bed and sent Sherlock a text.

Sherlock, I can not wait to come back to London, tell everyone I say hello and I will see them shortly. I miss you V.H.

There was no reply before she fell asleep, but that didn't surprise her, Sherlock cold be eyeball deep in this microscope. The next morning Vivian woke up to her dad talking as he walked down the hallway, but there was an urgency in his voice. She got up and ventured to the bathroom before heading downstairs. He was in uniform when she saw him and he had a sad look in his eye.

"Daddy, what's wrong?"

"I have to go pumpkin. You know I can't give you details, but this is a search and recovery mission. Don't be mad but Hunter is going to drive you to the airport, his team isn't on this one and you know him. I will miss you, but I have to go." With that he hugged his daughter and kissed her forehead before heading out the door with his bag in hand. After he was out the door she said out loud to no one at all, "You need to retire daddy, you're getting to old for this." She then ran upstairs and jumped in the shower. Once she got out dressed and finished packing, letting her hair air dry as she worked. She was carrying her bags down the stairs when there was a knock at the door. She got her bags downstairs and peeked out the door, opening it to let Hunter in.

"So dad called you early huh."

"Yea, but I didn't mind, I was already awake."

"Hard time getting back on local time?"

"Yea how did you know?" She smiled with him as she stood in the doorway of the small half bath, rubbing some argon through her waves.

"It's my job, well used to be my job."

"To know what people are like?"

"Well, to read them like a book."

"Oh, is that how you knew I was a marksman?" She washed her hands and came back out, standing in front of him.

"Well the callouses on your hands are consistent to holding and shooting a rifle, as well as the shirt you had on was rubbed flat on the elbows, you have a few more wrinkles around your left eye from constantly having it closed when aiming and your tattoo kind of gave you away." He was blown away, she really just needed to look at him to figure all that out.

"Damn that was amazing." She smiled as she started moving around, gathering together the last of her things.

"You're a little early."

"I was hoping I could persuade you to have breakfast with me." She turned at looked at him, the nervousness just below his cool calm demeanor, this time he was asking for himself.

"Alright, breakfast it is."

Hunter loaded her bags up in his old Bronco 2 while Vivian slipped on her shoes and ran a brush through her now straight hair. She locked up her dad's place before heading out. Once outside Hunter waited for her next to the passenger side, opening the door for her.

"Oh, well aren't you a gentleman. You sure this old thing is going to make it?"

"Hey, just because she's all rust out on the outside doesn't mean she won't make it. I have fully redone the entire engine. The body and interior come next."

Vivian climbed into the passenger seat and soon Hunter was next to her, turning over the engine before heading out to this great little dive for breakfast. Vivian smiled as she was quite familiar with the place, it was close to base and her dad had taken here there ton's when she lived at home. Once inside Vivian was happy to see it looked the same, familiar faced working and ton's of uniforms enjoying breakfast. The waitress was someone Vivian didn't know, but she seemed to be sweet on Hunter as she came over to take their order. After she walked away to get their coffee Vivian teased him a little.

"Seems like you have an admirer.

"What? No. Who?" He was actually clueless and Vivian noticed just how cute he was as he smiled.

"Our full of sunshine waitress."

"Jenny, no. She flirts with all the guys, some say she give special services to those who ask for it, if you know what I mean."

"Oh, wow, um that's a bit, crazy. But her body language says she likes you." He looked at the waitress, but just didn't see it. Soon he and Vivian had talked all through breakfast and now it was time for him to take her to the airport. Soon he was helping her get her bags from his bronco and she was about to head in.

"Well, thanks for everything. I really appreciate it." Vivian gave Hunter a warm hung and he spoke in her ear.

"It's my pleasure really, I never get to take beautiful women to the shooting range or out to breakfast. Maybe we could do it again sometime." Vivian pulled away and offered him a smile.

"Maybe. Well I better go, goodbye Hunter." She turned to walk in but his voice came from behind her.

"Vivian, wait. Would it be alright if I called you sometime." She took in a deep breath before turning around.

"Hunter I really like you, but I kind of have someone in London, I know my dad didn't mention him, and I should have but, I'm sorry." His stature changed, he threw up walls quick as he stood taller, held his head up.

"Hey, no big deal. Just thought it would be nice to keep in touch." He then turned and walked away not giving her a chance to get to him. She headed into the airport and wondered if she could forget about Hunter once she was back in the flat she shared with Sherlock, a man she apparently loved.
