BABY, REMEMBER ME, PLEASE

Disclaimer: The Cullens, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.

The awesome and talented dowlingnana searched out my errors and corrected them.

"No problem, dear. Both Isabella and Edward have a lot to atone for because of the hurt and harm they caused my Renata. And, I haven't forgotten all of the destruction her father, Charlie Swan, brought to my brothers and now what his daughter threatens you with. I'M DETERMINED THEY WILL PAY FOR THE PAIN AND SUFFERING THEY HAVE BOTH CAUSED OUR FAMILY!"

After a bit more conversation the call was ended and Elmira Jones went to bed with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction for the first time in a very long time.

CHAPTER 25: YOU'RE SERVED; DEAL WITH IT

The media that was gathered outside the gates at the ranch began to stir as a wave of excitement that had begun at the back of the pack was moving to the front as a sheriff's car moved into sight and entered the gate at the ranch. Questions were flying around from everyone wanting to know what was happening and why, or, for what the sheriff's department was going up to the ranch house. And, the movement of grabbing cell phones to try to get any available information from their offices, informants, or, any other source that might have knowledge of what the sheriff's visit might mean was in a frenzy wanting to be the first to deliver the news to the world.

Meanwhile, at the main house on the ranch everyone was up and gathered in the main area of the house waiting. They knew what was coming and was as prepared as they could be to receive the documents that were about to be served to most of them. The hurt that was being felt by some of them towards Bella was barely under control, but, an effort was being made to appear unaffected; trying to convince themselves that Bella had a good reason for the steps she was taking.

Rosalie, other than Edward, was the one that was asking herself 'why' since she had been representing Bella even before Edward and she got together. She had been Bella's agent from the very beginning of her career, so, why was this happening now? What did she do wrong, or, didn't do that brought her to make this decision to do away with her services all of a sudden? 'Why was she allowing Emmett and Carlisle near her, but, is pushing me and everyone else away?' Was the one question Rosalie kept asking herself. That was the one question that refused to be pushed away.

Edward was feeling confused, at first, about why his wife took this course of action, that is until his revelation, but, he was determined to fight her decision. He was going to fight to get his wife back. During the night his determination became strengthened more as he allowed his mind to take a walk back through memory lane. The memories of how determined he was to get to know Bella and then to get her to fall in love with him and for them to make a life together brought smiles from time to time to his face, but, that is what gave him the encouragement to stay the course he had originally told his family that he was going to follow. He knew that his Bella still loved him, in spite of how he had acted like an ass in the past; he felt that all of this was due to the hurt and the memories of what she had received from him since the loss of their daughter; he knew that her loss of memory had cushioned her from the pain of his being continually self-absorbed and then coming out of her coma she only remembered the past treatment she had received from him. He didn't have the time, so, he thought at the time, to try and correct what he knew were his sins against her. He left thinking that it was something he could do once he returned from location, but, once again, that decision ended up biting him in the ass. Look at the mess it has created in more ways than one.

Alice had placed a call to her husband to explain what was happening and he made the drive out to the ranch so he could be on hand for when all of the documents were served to each member of the family. He wanted to read each to try and get an idea of what might have been in Bella's mind as she filed the restraining orders and then the separation papers concerning her marriage to Edward; to be able to give the appropriate advice about how they should handle things if it was necessary for any sort of action.

After arriving he had taken the time to speak with Edward privately and knew what it was that his friend and brother in law was wanting to do and Jasper was prepared to move forwards with that course of action once all of this other nonsense was finished.

However, at the same time, Jasper wasn't too sure that Bella's actions were those of sudden thought and actions; she might have been planning this for some time and just now since coming out of her coma remembered and decided to follow through with some kind of original plan she had decided upon before her attack. From what Edward had explained at the time of Bella's attack there had been signs all along the way since the time of Kellana's death that things were moving towards this point. But, once again, Edward had been so wrapped upped into himself, as he had said a little over two years ago, that he didn't recognize what the outcomes were going to be because of their current course of that period in time. It was destined to happen.

Each person in the room was nervously waiting for the sheriff to arrive and had allowed their own attention to drift off into the past hoping to find answers to the questions that everyone has asked, both aloud or silently in their own minds, had their minds snapped back to the present rather quickly due to the sharp rapping of a knock sounding on the front door.

Mrs. Jones answered the door and then ushered the young officer from the sheriff's department into where the family was gathered waiting for his arrival. Afterwards she retired to the kitchen, but, remained by the door out of eyesight of the others so she could hear all that transpired, was said by both parties, and to hear what planning was going to be discussed after the young officer left.

The young officer began by reading off the names on each of the documents he held in his hand and waited until that person stepped forward to receive the paperwork. It was then the young man could say that he had served the person that had been named for the action the paperwork indicated. Once each had been served the young officer said his goodbyes and left.

Not one person made a sound or said a word until Jasper cleared his throat and commented, "There isn't anything that is damaging in these papers. Bella has put the restraining order against those of you that she felt would have undue influence upon her recovery. She wishes to heal in her own way and by methods of her choice, not yours."

"But, why? We didn't try to do anything to her. We were only trying to help her." Alice whined about her husband's comment.

"Alice, my love, each of you had an idea of what she needed to do to heal, to be able to regain her total health, both physically and mentally. And, with that in mind you unknowingly set about to influence things and her to move in that direction that you thought she should do.

"Stop and think for a moment." He said, but, stopped before he continued to explain as he saw that Rosalie was about to make a comment or ask a question. So, holding up his hand to stay her, he responded to her, "Rose, I'll give you the answers you want in a moment. Right now I need to explain this to my wife." And with that Jasper turned back to finish speaking to Alice, but, at the same time he looked at Esme to make sure she knew that her restraining order was included within the same reasoning. "Yes, my love, you're only trying to help, but, your method might not be what Bella felt she needed and the pressure of the two ways were causing her more problems. This is something that you and you, Esme, might not have realized since it was being done unconsciously, but, with the best of intentions. However, it was putting more pressure on an already unstable situation as what existed with what Bella remembered and with what everyone was wanting to try to do to make things better.

"She and Edward had issues before her attack and then her coma, and this is what she awoke to as the only memories of their relationship over the last few years. Then you, his sister, and you, Esme, his mother, were here while Edward was leaving once more, putting his job, more or less, before them once more. This was how Bella was seeing things and to her nothing had changed.

"All of this was nothing more than a constant reminder of their rocky relationship and the reasons for it. So, she's removing what she feels would be a problem to her own recovery for now. And, I say for now as this is only a temporary restraining order and not a permanent one." Jasper looked to both his wife and his mother in law as he finished explaining the why of the restraining order as he was able to understand the reasons stated.

"Next, Rose, your restraining is done for two reasons that I can see. The first is the main concern at this moment because you were managing both Bella's and Edward's careers. That does create a conflict of interest since you are also a family member, and that is the second reason for the restraining order and the papers of termination of services.

"Also, this applies to all of you that have been served that it was necessary as well to stop any of you from trying to influence Bella in regards to the steps of legal separation she has chosen to take against Edward.

"Now, about your situation and paperwork I will follow through with the actions we discussed last night after my arrival. I will help you to block any further action she might try to take in regards to a divorce and register you objection of the separation or any action towards a divorce. As agreed, Edward, I'll help you every way that I can to fight this so you two will have a chance for a future.

"And, lastly, to help you to understand why she didn't file against Carlisle or Emmett is very simple; they both are very much involved in the film industry and it is highly likely that she will encounter one or both in the near future if she's doing a film they might be working on as well. She can refuse to work with Edward in a film project, but, has no say as to the presence of Carlisle or Emmett; they are considered to be staff of the project." Jasper finished talking and explaining things to the whole family; or, so he thought.

"But, Jasper, if that's the reason why she didn't include me or Dad, then why can't we approach her to talk about the decisions she's made and try to show her why she's wrong?"

"Damn, Emmett, didn't you listen to anything I just said? You can't because that is trying to influence her and she is wanting to do things on her own at the moment. She's wanting to make her own decisions and to do things her way without someone else telling her she's right or wrong.

"If you see her don't just approach her and try to chat her up about what she's done. Talk to her as if everything was normal and about what is needed to do with the movie only; nothing else; don't try to influence her with how you think she's wrong or anything else. That will only push her further away."

The whole family looked at Emmett and he started to cower down once he saw the look on everyone's face, but, it was the glare that his wife was giving him that had him shrinking down the most.

Elmira Jones was still in the kitchen, standing by the slightly opened door listening to everything that was being discussed, but, she was full of glee at the news she was hearing. She knew that her nephew would be delighted as well and that they could explore how best to use this information to bring about further torture and pain to the two.

In the meantime as the news media of all kinds watched the sheriff's car leave they were busily obtaining the information that was public record about what Isabella Swan had filed against certain members of the Cullen family. Questions were rapidly flying as to what and why.

Renee was desperately trying to reach her husband by phone to inform him of what their daughter had done and was doing. Also, to let him know that no one knew where she was at present time. She knew that once he was made aware of the situation he would finish whatever job he was doing and quickly join her in L. A. so they could find Bella and see about talking some sense into her.

But, in the safe house in L. A. Bella was quietly resting and catching up on her reading which she had missed during the time she had been in the coma while she was waiting for everything to be in place for her trip to Paris to testify.

From time to time Charlie would come in to check on his daughter, but, was unaware of the fact that his wife was trying desperately to reach him since he had left that cell phone at home in his drawer. It could have created some serious problems if the wrong person happened to call at the wrong time, so, he never carried it with him when he was working with another law enforcement agency.

In another part of town two ladies were busily doing their jobs on behalf of their client, Isabella Swan. One had a prepared statement ready to deliver at the right time. And, the other was locating new projects for Ms. Swan to look over.

A/N: Agree or disagree, Jasper was able to explain to everyone why Bella took the action she did. Being the lawyer of the family he was better able to understand what was being stated in the documents they had been served with. What is going to be the next move and by whom?
