STARK INDUSTRIES

After a few shaky quirks inside the TARDIS, it landed at the Tower. The Doctor was out first, hesitantly sticking his screwdriver out of the doors before walking out. Following him, Fury stepped out on the floor, wishing his head to stop swimming. Loki stepped out behind him, with a watchful Thor trailing him. Loki looked around, amused.

"To think that I would see this place again," he murmured, "Or, at the very least, the inside of it."

"You said they would be here," the Doctor said. "The clones, where are they?"

Loki shrugged. "I told you that they might be here, I didn't tell you where in this building they would be. They could have changed our original plans to their liking –"

Loki stopped talking abruptly as Thor shoved him against a wall. He held him there with his forearm, and his eyes were like fire.

"This is no time for your jesting, Loki! There are lives at stake, and you treat them as if they have no value! You will either tell me, or I shall have to get the answer some other way that will not be enjoyable for you."

The Doctor lightly placed a hand on Thor's shoulder. "Thor," he said softly, "that's enough."

Thor scowled at the Doctor, but then looked back to Loki, and immediately removed his arm. Loki fell to the floor, wheezing and coughing as he massaged his neck. They all stood silently as Loki re-caught his breath, hands shaking slightly and head to the floor. The wheezing ceased, and Loki inhaled deeply. As he looked back up, he eyed Thor's outstretched hand warily, before pushing it away and standing to his feet. He started to walk away, then turned around and said:

"Well, then. Am I the only one who is going to start the search for the clones? If not, then why are you still standing there like idiots? We have work to do."

Loki led them to the roof as he explained the situation.

"The satellite control station was created so neither Saxon or myself could betray one another. The sequence enabled us to be ready for the drums at the same time on different stations so that we need two to press the button at the same time. Given that now the clones are in control, they should have set the stations off by now, and all of humanity should now be enslaved."

Fury raised an eyebrow. "So what's stopping them?"

Loki said softly, "I do not know."

They opened the doors to the roof of the Tower, where a black remote sat on the ground on one side of the roof. On the other sat a man sitting off the edge off the roof, his back toward the door, tapping his fingers against his thigh in a slow rhythm:

Ta-ta-ta-tap,

Ta-ta-ta-tap,

before closing them into a fist.

The Doctor raised an eyebrow. "What's he doing?"

Thor gripped his hammer and started walking, but Loki extended his arm.

"Wait," he said. "Just wait."

"Explain what exactly is going on here, Loki," Fury said.

The man did it again:

Ta-ta-ta-tap,

Ta-ta-ta-tap,

Ta-ta-ta-tap,

and closed his fist tightly.

"Oh…" the Doctor breathed. "I didn't expect that."

"Nor did I," Loki replied.

"Expect what?" Thor asked.

Ta-ta-ta-tap; and then a tightly closed fist.

Loki smiled as the man turned around.

The Doctor blinked in surprise. "I believe one of the clones has developed a conscience."

"Yes," Loki said as the man stood up quickly. "Mine."
