4 Months Later

She sat down in the dark, only the moonlight shining through the window provided light for her to see around the decked out nursery. Liam's old crib and the other pieces of baby furniture were placed about the room and a crystal dolphin mobile hung over the crib just as the unicorn one had hung over Liam's. Henry had gone to the docks and taken photographs of the water, the beach and Killian's ship. And now all of them hung framed on the walls of the new nursery.

Smiling, Regina placed a hand onto her swollen, six-month-pregnant stomach. God, how she wished he could be there. She wanted him to be with her, see this room, feel when the baby would kick, and watch how Liam and Henry were growing. She missed him; that was for sure. But as she stared down and caressed her stomach, she remembered whom she needed to stay strong for and who kept her going through all of this.

Suddenly, in all of the silence, Regina heard little pitter-pattering coming from the hallway. She watched as the door creaked open, a small glimpse of light growing larger. A tiny head peeked into the room and stared at her with wide blue eyes.

"Mommy?" The little boy stepped in a little more. He then stood there, his trusty stuffed dog in his right arm, waiting for his mother's permission to go to her.

"What is it, honey?" She beckoned for him to come. As he walked over and stood in front of her, she asked, "Why aren't you in bed?" She brushed back the hair from his forehead.

The little boy shrugged his shoulders and just stared at his mother. Slowly panning his eyes down to her pregnant belly, he reached out his hand and poked it lightly.

Regina managed a soft smile. Placing her hand to her stomach, she whispered, "Do you want to talk to her?"

Liam looked up to her and nodded his head. He looked back to his mother's belly and leaned forward until his nose was pressed against it. "Hi, baby," he whispered before turning his head to listen.

After staying the silence for a little while, Regina noticed the nursery door open wider to reveal her mother. Cora was truly a different person with her heart inside of her. And Regina came to forgive the older woman's actions and accept the idea of starting over with Cora as a part of her family. It was good having her around; difficult to adjust at first, but in the end it was best for everyone. She helped Regina often with Liam and preparing for the new baby, as did Snow and David and Emma. Even Gold offered assistance in terms of the magical properties the baby held.

The older woman looked to the young boy with some strictness and said, "Liam, sweetheart, it's time for bed. Don't go bothering your mother; she needs to rest."

"No, it's alright, Mother," Regina looked to her with a smile and nodded her head. "I'll get him to bed in a little bit."

"Are you sure, honey?" She asked.

"I'm sure," she smiled as she picked the boy up and rested him on her lap, cradling him in her right arm lovingly as she began to rock back and forth.

After Cora had shut the door, Regina continued to rock her young son in the midst of the silence. She began to hum a soft tune, something that Killian would always sing to Liam to get him to fall asleep. Unfortunately, Regina didn't know the words to it, but she hoped that just humming it would help her son. It was an old sailing song that he loved greatly. It had always made her smile when she listened to him singing it to Liam.

"Mmm," Liam hummed softly in her arms while his head rested in the crevice of her neck. "Mommy?" He asked, closing his eyes.

Regina stopped humming for a moment. "Yes, sweetie?"

"You miss Daddy?"

She hugged her arms around him a little tighter and replied, "Of course I do. I miss him every day."

While his little hand played with the fluffy fur on his stuffed animal, he softly said, "Me too."

"You know," she whispered, still rocking soothingly in the chair, "Daddy once told me something. He said to me that even though he's gone away, he'll always be right here." She gave the young boy's chest a soft poke and smiled down at him. "He's always in your heart."

"And yours?" Liam asked with a concerned look.

"Yes," she let out a quiet laugh. "And mine. And Henry's too." She kissed her son's forehead before letting him rest it down between her neck and her shoulder again.

"It doesn't make you sad. Like your heart breaked?" He asked her.

His eyes closed as she continued to speak to him soothingly. "It does make me sad sometimes. But you know what?" She asked him and listened to his soft hum in response. "There is something that makes me remember why I shouldn't be so sad and heartbroken. Something very beautiful that your father gave me."

"What?" Liam asked in a squeaky, very tired voice.

Regina brushed her fingers through her son's dark hair, kissed the top of his head and whispered with a smile, "You." She gave a quick glance to her stomach and smiled again. "And your sister."

"Yeah?"

Regina grinned, "Yeah." She caressed his soft hair and rested her cheek on his head. "I love you, sweetheart."

"Love you too, Mommy." After a short pause, the little boy yawned and whispered. "Can you do Daddy's song some more?"

Regina began to hum that familiar tune as she rocked back and forth, cradling her child in her arms. She closed her eyes and listened to the sweet melody as she hummed along. As the tune escaped her lips, she could feel this strange presence around them. For some reason, she had that inkling inside of her that it was him. It was as if he was there with them in that moment. He was watching over them, humming the tune with her, and helping her to get their son to sleep. She could feel the essence of him touching her shoulder and kissing her cheek. Suddenly, she heard a faint whisper in her ear, as if passing through the wind, "Goodnight, love," and then it was gone.

Noticing how the child was now sound asleep in her arms, Regina looked down at him and smiled. She whispered softly, both to her son and replying to the soft voice that had passed by her ear, "Goodnight."
