TRIS' POV:
I was sitting on my bed, the morning after my date with Tobias. He had planned the most magical evening, and honestly it was the perfect first date. My heart went a little fuzzy just thinking about it. At times I felt like I didn't deserve him, and I knew that feeling would probably never go away completely but I was more at peace with it now.
I had slept over at his that night before, continuing on the pattern of him holding me until I fell asleep. It was a habit now, a habit I hoped I wouldn't have to break. Whenever I was with him I felt safe.
As I sat on my bed, consumed in my thoughts as usual Christina bounded in, looking chirpy as always. I thought she was still in bed, but she had entered from outside which meant she had already been up. Which had to mean…I checked the clock. It was 10:00.
Shit. I was late.
"Hey Tris!" Christina said happily as she came over to where I was sitting.
"Hey," I replied quickly as I got up fast and went over to my wardrobe to chuck some clothes on. "Sorry, I would stay and chat but I'm so late right now. It's already ten! My shift was supposed to start an hour ago."
"Uh…Tris," Christina said slowly. "It's Saturday. No work."
I smacked my forehead. "Of course. Wow, I'm so out of it."
She grinned and plunked herself down next to me. "Maybe it's because because you're in looooove."
I rolled my eyes. "Christina, I'm not in "looooove", adding air quotes to illustrate the silliness of her statement. Even though maybe it wasn't that silly…
"Whatever, be in denial I don't care. At least one of us is in love," Christina said glibly. As I looked at her, I realised I had never seen so happy. She honestly just looked like she was glowing, and that the happiness was radiating off her.
"So you and Will are in love huh?" I said with a smile. "Not surprised. I'm really happy for you Christina, you guys are two of my best friends and it's so great you guys are happy together."
She sighed dreamily. "Yeah we really are. Honestly Tris, I've never felt this way before. You know what he said to me last night?"
I smiled. "What?"
"He said he loved me. And like, he's said it before but this time it was serious. Like serious, serious. Like, I can see a future with him."
"That's so good Chris!"
"It was the perfect night," Christina said with another dreamy sigh. "The sex was amazing. Well it always is, but tonight…"
I gagged. "Please do not go into details, I beg of you."
She smiled slyly. "
Christina threw her head back and laughed. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry it was just the perfect night."
I grinned. "Well you're not the only one who had the perfect night. Mine was pretty good to say the least."
Christina squealed with excitement. "Oh my gosh! I totally forgot! What happened?"
"He planned a picnic," I said. I realised how it sounded, like, wow a picnic so I hastily added more to the story. "A really romantic picnic. With candles."
"Aw that sounds cute! Even though I can't imagine big scary Four actually doing something like that. Guess he does have a heart," Christina quipped.
I frowned slightly. "Hey, he does have a heart. Remember, I'm dating him."
Christina put her hands up in mock protest. "Just kidding! But seriously, I might have to have a talk to him about his intentions with you."
I groaned. "Not funny."
"I disagree. Very funny. But I'm serious! Your parents aren't here to terrify him out of his wits, so I think Will and I will have a little chat with him. You know, just to check on things."
She had to be kidding. Apart from the fact that, that would be ridiculously embarrassing, like I was a thirteen year old about to have her first boyfriend, I had no idea how Tobias would react. And I really didn't want to find out.
"Christina seriously, don't do that. Like it's not funny," I said seriously in the hope that she would get the point.
She pouted back in response. "Fine. I won't. But if he steps out of line…"
"…which he won't," I interjected.
"Then I'll kick his ass," she finished with a glint in her eye.
I laughed. "Yeah right."
"What?" she asked looking a little hurt. "You don't think I could kick his ass? Believe me I could."
"I'd like to see you try," I said, laughing a little on the inside at the image of Christina trying to beat up Tobias. Apart from the fact that she was like half his size, how he would react would be absolutely hilarious. I have no idea if he would get mad or if he would be amused. Christina could be pretty lethal, but nothing against my Tobias.
"Okay, maybe I couldn't take on your scary big bad ass boyfriend, but I would terrify him with my words," Christina stated triumphantly.
I nodded, suddenly a little tired of the conversation. "I'm sure you would."
Sometimes Christina had so much personality and energy that it tired me. When I was with her, I felt like I needed to constantly keep up with her. Of course, she was my best friend so I didn't really mind but sometimes I just needed a bit of space.
We chatted idly for the next few minutes, when suddenly Christina had a revelation.
"Guess what we're doing today!" Christina exclaimed bouncily. "I totally forgot to tell you!"
"What?" I replied questioningly. Oh God…what had she dreamed up now.
"We're having a girls day with Marlene! Spa, shopping, pampering! Doesn't that sound exciting?" Christina asked beaming.
Did it though? Did it really?
Well, I guess to them it did. Me….not so much.
"Does Dauntless even have a spa or any of that?" I asked with a questioning note in my voice.
"Um yeah duh!" Christina said. "Well it's not the traditional spa and all that but it's better than nothing! Plus girls day out! Woo!"
"I don't know," I mused. "I've never done a "girls" day before. What does it involve?"
"Um hello have you been living under a rock?" Christina asked incredulously.
"Um hello Abnegation?"
"Oh. Well that certainly explains it."
"Yep."
Christina looked at me. "Well this means even more we're going to do it! And you know what, I won't tell you what we're going to do. Just three words. Spa. Shop. Food."
"The food part sounds good," I said with a grin. "The other stuff though, eh."
Christina grabbed my hands in mock formality and looked straight at me. "Tris. You need to have a girls day out once in your life."
I sighed. "Christina, you know I'm not a girly girl, in fact —"
She cut me off, "And today we're going to change that. And plus, your cuticles aren't looking that great."
I smacked her with the pillow. "Shut up! They look fine!"
She grinned and grabbed a pillow as well and thwacked me back. "They do not. You don't even bother to put nail polish on. Wonder what Four thinks?"
"Haha, very funny. You're dead."
After our impromptu pillow fight, Christina went to shower and get ready for today. I think she was seeing Will before we went out with Marlene.
And that space I was talking about before? Obviously wasn't going to happen today. Honestly though, it would be nice to just relax with my friends but another part of me wants to get up and do something. I felt restless.
"You've got one hour before we head off," Christina instructed me. "So go put on some clothes and get some breakfast and then meet us back here. I'm going to pop over to Will's for a bit."
I nodded. "Have fun. See you then."
As she left I turned to my wardrobe to pick out some clothing to wear. Christina had sort of got me into clothing and makeup, well more so then I was before. But of course that was to be expected, with me being from Abnegation and all. But now I enjoyed picking out something to wear, and putting on a little, emphasis on a little makeup. Not to the extent that Christina and Marlene and the other girls did, but still.
I eventually picked out an outfit, a typical one of late. Slim fitting black tank top, with black legging with leather inserts and black boots.
I went over to the mirror, and peered in it as I began to do my makeup.
"Still a Stiff," I mumbled to myself as I assessed myself.
Saying that was a bit harsh on myself. I liked to think that ever since I joined Dauntless, my features had matured a bit. My eyes were more bright and alert, I had lost weight and I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I just looked different.
And I liked it.
I put some light eyeshadow one, a line of eyeliner and some mascara on. Not to mask, but to accentuate my features.
After that, I went to the kitchen and grabbed a muffin for breakfast. I ate it quickly and realised I had about forty minutes to kill. As I went to grab my jacket, I realised that it wasn't there. It was probably at Tobias'. I decided to walk over to his apartment to grab it. Was that being too pushy in some way? I decided to push that thought out of my mind and to go anyway.
TOBIAS' POV:
It was eleven and I had just woken up, which was quite rare. Rare for me at least. I was drinking some tea at the counter.
Normally I don't sleep very well. As much as I hate to admit, nightmares invaded my sleep. Sometimes they were about Marcus, lately they were about losing Tris but the worst ones of all were the ones where it's just black. I know I'm scared but I can't identify what it is, because all I feel is black. Those are the worst ones.
Sometimes I think that's how Marcus feels.
Anyway, last night was my first date with Tris. Objectively speaking, first date wasn't really the right word for it. When you her the phrase 'first date' it implies that you haven't really gotten to know the person yet. I had gotten to know Tris, more than I had gotten to know anyone.
My relationship with her was stronger with anyone I knew, even people I had known for my whole life. I knew her more intricately then my family, my friends, than anyone. I had shared more secrets with her than with anyone.
A knock sounded on my apartment door.
I got up from the kitchen counter, leaving my tea behind. I wondered who it was? Hopefully it wasn't Eric, or Lauren or someone like that. I hoped it was Tris. Even though I had just saw her last night, I still wanted to see her now.
As I opened the door, I was glad to see that it was the better option.
"Hey," Tris said softly. She looked really nice, as lame as that statement sounded. Nice didn't really describe her well. She was striking, one look at her and I was gone. I could get lost in her eyes.
"Hey," I replied back with a smile. Would it be overstepping if I kissed her?
I did it anyway.
We kissed briefly in the hallway. As she kissed me back I wrapped my arms around her and drew her inside, shutting the door with my foot,
"Good greeting," she said a little breathlessly as she tipped back her head and laughed. Listening to her laugh made me forget for a minute, about anything but her. When I looked at her, I was consumed with thoughts of her and her alone.
"It really was, wasn't it?" I said as I laughed a little. I pulled her towards me, wanting to be closer to her. Always.
"So why'd you come over? You can't get enough of me can you," I teased her.
She stuck her tongue out at me. "Yeah that's definitely why. I just can't stop thinking about you, that even though I saw you like ten hours ago I just had to come over here to see you."
"Sounds accurate," I stated with a straight face as I hooked a piece of stray hair behind her ear. "So why'd you actually come?"
She rolled her eyes playfully. "I came over because I left my jacket over here last night." She pointed to the couch, where I could see it was.
I nodded and released her from my grip, a little disappointed I couldn't hold her for a brief amount of time. I didn't really understand what was coming over me lately, but I knew it was all her. She was changing me slowly and it was for the better.
She went over and grabbed her jacket and came back to me. She kissed me on the cheek.
"I actually have to go now, Christina's planned a whole girl's day out thing with me and Marlene," she said with a note of distaste in her voice.
"Not excited?" I asked as I walked her to the door. She made a face.
"No not really, but Christina wants to do it so I guess I'm going to go along with it."
"Sounds like a good idea."
She looked into my eyes as I leaned in and kissed her goodbye.
"See you tonight?"
"Of course."
Hi lovelies! Guess what? I'm starting a new Divergent story! I just saw Insurgent, and I honestly loved it so much (mostly because there was a lot of Fourtris), even though it didn't really stick to the book that much. But still amazing! It's a definitely much more suspense and action filled one, this one is just going to be fluffy and fun! (Also, look I updated this! Which means we're continuing)!
I'm going to post the new story next week when I update this. I just want to have a few chapters done first.
So I've decided to do updates weekly for this story, with maybe a surprise one in the middle.
What you should expect: dates and fluffy stuff, definitely Tris and Tobias training the new initiates, and other stuff like that.
Next chapter is girl's day out!
Remember to review! :) xx
