(I'm a really bad person)
(3rd person)
He didn't hear her until the door opened and she walked in, stumbling to a stop. He wasn't sure how she always managed to do that, sneak up on him when no one else could, like his ears and smelling were immune to her till she was in the same room as him. Then her scent began intoxicating him, her heartbeat thrumming so loudly in his ears it was all he could hear, all he ever wanted to hear.
But at that moment her heartbeat wasn't the usual steady and calm thrum but instead a jolty, skipping pace that reminded him of Stiles.
She was just as beautiful as he remembered, if not more, and he was reminded why he fell in love with her. But most of all, he fell in love with her all over again.
She let out a surprised breath and gulped, drawing his eyes to her exposed throat that was blissfully free of any marks, marks he'd been afraid would be there when he'd come back, ones that he hadn't made. The thought made him want to rip something apart.
He was frozen, his leather jacket in his hands as he prepared to go out.
"You're back," she stated, her entrancing purple eyes wide. "H-How long have you been back?" She asked.
"A day or two," he finally found his voice. Her posture grew stiff, her shoulders set back and her chin held high, her eyes completely shut off. The way she blocked him out reminded him of himself.
It hurt.
She gave him a curt nod and pursed her lips. "Well i guess you want this back," she said, pulling the necklace with the key to the loft on the end over her head and fiddling with it, as if unsure if she really wanted to give it back.
"Violet…" he tried to go to her but when he took a step forward and she took one back, he stopped. Her eyes landed on the ground and when she next looked up to him, barely contained hurt shimmered in the violet depths she was so well named after.
"I texted you. And I called you. And you blocked my tracker," she said, her jaw set tight. Guilt washed through him, but it was no new feeling and he tried his best to push it away.
"I know. And-…." He wanted to apologise. Everything in him was screaming for him to beg for her to forgive him, tell her that for once it wasn't entirely his fault, that his resistance had been running low when he'd been captured and tortured by hunters and the choice to contact her had been taken from him, that he'd missed her and he wanted nothing more than to be with her. His feelings hadn't changed, but he wandered if hers had. "I've tried," he said instead.
"What?" She questioned, confused and the expression looked strange on her. She wasn't confused often.
"I've tried to give you a chance, give you a normal life, why can't you just take it?" His voice was hard, almost angry and it made him feel even more guilty. He wasn't angry at her, he was angry at himself and he shouldn't have been taking it out on her. But none the less he was. "I've tried to distance myself from you, why can't you just at least try and get a normal life? Go out with some stupid boy-"
"You want me to go out with someone else?!" She exclaimed. "That's what all this is about? You trying to give me some shitty supposedly normal life?!"
(POV change)
Anger swept through me. "Derek it's never going to happen! I said I would wait for you and-" I cut myself off as my eyes widened and my breath caught in my throat.
Blood suddenly covered his whole shirt, a trail of crimson liquid falling from his mouth. A large wound in his chest bled heavily, dripping down to the floor and pooling around his feet. I gasped, stumbling back.
Derek's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, concern taking over his whole face.
"Violet what's wrong?" He demanded, glancing over his shoulder momentarily before fixating his gaze back on me. He walked toward me, trying to grab me but I pushed him away.
"No, no, no. It's not real. It's not real," I muttered to myself. I'd thought that this had started to go away, but obviously I was wrong.
"Violet what are you talking about? I'm right here," he said, grasping my arm, splattering blood all over my skin.
"Stop!" I cried out, the mere thought of Derek being hurt, being killed, making me hysteric. I fell backwards, burying my face in my hands, tears streaking my cheeks. I felt Derek's hand lightly touch my back, afraid I would pull away again. When I didn't he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me against him.
"Shh. It's ok. I'm here. I'm here and-…I'm sorry," he murmured, running his fingers through my hair. I opened my eyes to see his shirt thankfully clean of blood. I let out a shaky breath, slowly and cautiously melting into him and it felt so good to be back in his arms, to feel his arms wound around me, hear the steady beat of his heart, my ear pressed against his chest.
"You could've been dead," i said, my voice faltering. "You could've been dead and I wouldn't have known. Anything could have happened to you and I wouldn't have known anything!" My voice got louder and very reluctantly I pushed him away, glaring at him. "You know that I hate not knowing! And I don't know anything anymore and-"
He pressed his lips to mine, wrapping an arm around me and pulling me back to him. It suddenly felt like every nerve in my body was burning, my lips eagerly waiting to be pressed tighter against his, my hands aching to run all over his body, to feel him pressed fully against me. A soft moan escaped his lips but I angrily pushed him away.
"Don't interrupt m-"
He kissed me again, one hand sliding up my leg, the other holding me tightly against him. I struggled weakly for a moment before I finally gave in and closed my eyes, melting into him as shivers were sent down my spine. I don't think I'll ever be able to properly describe what kissing Derek is like. But it makes all my fears, my worries, my sadness fall away. It's like being taken to another place, a place where nothing can hurt me, where it's just us, nothing but us. It's like an escape from reality.
"I'm alright," he murmured against my lips. "And I missed you. I really missed you."
I smiled softly, resting my forehead on his and lacing our fingers together, the anger that had burned in me moments ago disappearing. He tightened his grip on me and stood from the floor, holding me against him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing his jaw.
"I missed you too," I mumbled, breathing in the smell that was the woods and power and just Derek. He gently took the necklace from my hand and slipped it back over my neck, his fingers playing over the skin of my neck. He smiled softly, a beautiful smile. I ran my finger over his lip. I'd missed that smile.
"Well look at this, the two love birds reunited."
Derek and I groaned, turning to face Peter.
"I was looking for you," I stated, crossing my arms over my chest. Derek growled, pulling me back against his side.
"Why?" Derek demanded.
"Scott needed help with stuff. Alpha stuff," I replied. "Couldn't find you two though. I didn't know you went with Derek and Cora. Actually where is Cora?"
"Not here," Derek replied, walking forward to sort something out on his desk. "It's better you don't know."
"What? Why?" I questioned.
"Just trust me," he said. I sighed, but let up.
"Sorry. I was busy," Peter's smile told me he knew something, something I didn't and that made me squirm, squirm with the want, the thirst to know. Derek shot him a warning glare but Peter just smirked right back at him.
"Do you live here or are you going to leave?" I asked Peter, walking toward Derek.
"Oh I'm sorry. You two probably want some..alone time," Peter said, winking at Derek who glared at him, hate blazing in his fiery emerald eyes.
I rolled my eyes. "Just leave," I said. After a few more snarky comments and growls from Derek, Peter left.
Derek grabbed my hands, drawing my body toward him. His hands slid down to my hips and he easily lifted me, seating me on the desk.
"Vi…what was that? Before?" He asked, his fingers dancing over my thighs. I bit my lip and dropped my gaze. "When you freaked out," he prompted. I sighed but he knew if he pushed me I would completely close up. We were similar in that way.
"I just-…lately, Stiles, Scott, Allison and I-…We um..I just haven't been coping very well," I admitted slowly, stumbling, unsure how to explain it. It was different to how I usually spoke, generally so confident and outright.
"From the sacrifice?" Derek murmured, brushing my hair over to one side. I nodded, pursing my lips together. He pressed his lips to my exposed neck and my eyes fluttered closed, my hands sliding down his arms.
His hands tightened on my hips and his teeth grazed my skin. My breathing got slightly more shallow but I pulled away before it could go further.
"I can't stay," I murmured. "Stiles is expecting me home. Does Scott know you're back?"
Derek shook his head. "No," he mumbled.
I hummed thoughtfully, debating whether I should tell Scott just yet or not. I decided not to. For the moment I wanted Derek to myself.
My hands traveled up to his neck and I gently tugged his lips down to mine. He slid his hands under my thighs and lifted me, pulling me flush against him. I wrapped my legs around his waist, running my fingers through his midnight hair.
"I missed you so much," he breathed, his grip tightening on me.
Sometimes I wonder if I was in someone else's arms, would it feel like this? Would I feel this safe, secure, loved? Or would it be different?
I suppose my lack of experience with any other guy beside Derek is to blame for those questions.
He stepped over to his bed and lay me gently down on it, leaning over to kiss me. I smirked and grabbed his arms, pulling him down and rolling out of the way so he lay beside me before sitting atop of him, a leg either side of his hips. His hands slipped up and down my legs and he smirked back up at me. I reached down and kissed his cheek, his jaw, his neck and shoulder before finally pressing my lips to his.
"I missed you too," I breathed. "But I have to go."
I went to get up but Derek grunted and wrapped his arms firmly around me, flipping us over and pinning me beneath him.
"No," he mumbled, pressing his face into the crevice of my neck. I laughed and squirmed under him but he just groaned, his breath feathering over my skin and sending a shiver down my spine.
"You're annoying," I murmured.
"Oh?" He questioned. His hands slid under my shirt and his lips lightly began sprinkling kisses over my neck, sucking in certain spots. His fingers circled down my back and a shaky moan left my mouth as electricity shot through me. "What was that again?" He asked smugly.
"i hate you," I breathed. He hummed against my skin and I could feel his grin. I closed my eyes, making myself smaller and allowing him to just hold me for a few moments, for us just to be.
I smiled.

"Get your ass down here now, we have a job to do," Stiles demanded over the phone to Scott. I rolled my eyes as we walked through the locker rooms. It was late at night outside and Stiles shone a torch to illuminate our way.
"Dude I'm already in bed. And aren't we getting a little old for this? Send Violet with all her other friends," I faintly heard Scott reply.
"I don't want to be here either!" I called into the phone. "And I don't have any other friends."
"Dude we're doing this for coach," Stiles insisted.
"No..you're doing this to coach," I corrected.
"Whatever, he loves this stuff. Lives for it," Stiles said.
"But it's the middle of the night," Scott complained.
"!2:15 actually," Stiles corrected. "That means it's past midnight and officially mischief night/day. And by perfectly awesome coincidence also Coach's birthday. So if you are not down here in five seconds I will destroy you. Ok, five, four, three, two-"
"One."
Stiles leaped around, stumbling and falling over at Scott's voice. Scott and I high fived.
-O-
"You're back at school?" I heard Scott ask the twins the next day at school.
"No. Just to talk," one replied.
"Oh that's kind of a change of pace for you guys seeing as you're usually just, hurting, maiming, torturing and killing," Stiles pointed out as we walked up behind Scott. I pursed my lips and sighed.
"We need a new pack. We need an alpha," Ethan said, ignoring Stiles.
"Yeah..absolutely not. That's hilarious though," Stiles said.
"You asked for help, we helped," Ethan pointed out.
"You beat his face into a bloody pulp and then my punched my sister," Stiles shot back. "That's not helping. In my opinion that's actually counter productive."
"Why would I say yes?" Scott said.
"We add strength, give you more power. There's no reason to say no," Aiden said.
"I can think of a few," Isaac said, walking up behind us. "Like the two of you holding Derek's claws while Kali impaled Boyd, or torturing Violet for a month and forcing her against us. In fact I don't know why we're not torturing and killing you right now."
Aiden growled, his eyes going blue. "You wanna try?" He taunted. Isaac went to take a step forward but I caught his wrist.
"Back. Off," I told Aiden, my eyes blazing. He took a reluctant step back.
"I'm sorry but they don't trust you," Scott said. "And neither do I." We brushed past them but Ethan caught my wrist.
"Violet, we're sorry about what we did to you," He said and he sounded sincere. "You were just a kid, it wasn't fair."
I pulled my wrist free, glaring at him. "You're right," I said. "It wasn't fair."
I stalked after my friends.
.
Scott, Stiles and I walked into the school building. A roll of toilet paper was thrown at Stiles, hitting him in the face.
"Ow! That's my face!" Stiles complained to basically no one. I burst out laughing. "Good decision though dude," he said, patting Scott's chest. "Good alpha decision."
"I hope so," Scott said.
"No you know so," Stiles shot back as he went to open his locker. Scott leant against it beside him and I followed his gaze to where he was staring at Kira.
"What are you looking at?" I teased.
"Me?" Scott questioned.
"You," Stiles said. "Looking at her."
"Her? Who her?"
"Her, her. Kira. You like her?"
"No."
I rolled my eyes. "Yes you do."
"Well yeah I mean she's new," Scott said.
"So ask her out," Stiles said.
"Now?"
"Yes now," i said.
"Right now?"
"Right now. Scott," Stiles said as we began walking down the hall. "You're an alpha ok? You are the apex predator. Everyone wants you. You're like the hot girl that every guys wants."
"The hot girl?" Scott asked as Isaac walked up behind us.
"You are the hottest girl," Stiles insisted, pointing at Scot before walking away.
"I'm the hot girl?" Scott questioned.
Isaac looked confused for a moment before nodding. "Yes you are."
Scott grinned and I rolled my eyes. "You guys are so weird."
.
"I'm sorry what?" I questioned as Stiles, Isaac, Allison, Lydia and I walked through the school. "The William Barrow who killed four kids is not only out in the world but near our school?"
"Yes and he said that he killed them because they had glowing eyes," Stiles added. My eyes widened. "He was in an operation. No one knows how he woke up from anethstesia, just that when they opened him up they found a tumour with alive flies, which under any other circumstances would be kind of awesome."
"Did you say flies?" Lydia questioned, stopping. We stopped as well.
"Lydia?" Allison asked.
"All day I've been hearing this sound..like this..buzzing," Lydia explained.
"Like the sound of flies?" Allison asked.
"Exactly like the sound of flies," Lydia confirmed.
.
"Why did the cops leave?" I asked Stiles as we walked through an art room.
"Because apparently there was an eye witness putting him somewhere else," Stiles said. "Allison has gone home to see if the bestiary has anything in it. Scott, Isaac, Ethan and Aiden are in the basement looking for him. Melissa brought over his clothes from the hospital so they could get a lock on his scent. The plan is to meet in the middle in the boiler room."
"That's a terrible idea!" I exclaimed.
"What? Why?" Stiles questioned.
"All the wolves in one room, all the ones with glowing eyes," I pointed out. Stiles and Lydia exchanged understanding glances, a hint of panic in their eyes that mirrored my own.
"Oh my god," Stiles said. "An engineer could use the boiler room to blow up the whole school."
"We have to get them out of there," Lydia said.
"We have to get everyone out," Stiles agreed.
"How do we do that?" Lydia pointed out.
"Oldest trick in the book," i shrugged. "Pull the fire alarm."
.
Stiles had his fingers on the fire alarm, doing a little jig when coach appeared behind him whilst the alarm blared throughout the halls. Lydia and I's eyes widened. Stiles turned around to face coach, mumbling a 'wow' when he spotted him. Coach grabbed Stiles' ear, pulling him out of the school where students were streaming out. We hurried after them.
"Pulling a fire alarm on mischief night is one thing but doing it when there is a mass murderer spotted nearby is insane!" Coach shouted, letting go of Stiles. "If I were four years younger I'd punch you!"
"What? Coach that doesn't make sense," Stiles said.
"Oh well it does to me," Coach said before walking away. We shook off his scolding and Lydia grabbed my hand, leading us over to where we spotted the wolves.
"We didn't find anything," Aiden said.
"Not even a scent," Scott agreed.
"It's three o'clock so school's over," Stiles said. "If there was a bomb wouldn't he have set it off by now?"
"Does that mean everybody is safe?" Ethan asked.
"I don't know," Lydia said. "Just…I don't know."
"What if…what if he concealed his scent somehow?" I pointed out.
"Yeah but we would have picked up something, right?" Scott said.
"Maybe," I murmured.
-O-
"Violet let's go!" Stiles called, already running down the steps.
"What? Where?" I questioned, peering out of my room.
"The school," Stiles called back. "I figured it out."
.
"What are we looking for?" I asked as we walked into the classroom. It was dark at the school at night, the only light from the moon pouring in from the windows. Stiles opened the chemicals storage room.
"Oh..that's supposed to be locked," Lydia said. Realisation swept over me.
"He did conceal his scent," i said. "In chemicals."
Stiles crouched down, shining his phone torch light over the rows and rows of beakers. He shined it on the floor where broken glass was and splatters of blood.
"He was here," Stiles said. "Performing minor surgery on himself. You were right."
"Why don't I feel good about that?" Lydia asked.
"Probably because he was here to kill somebody," Stiles said.
"But who?"
"That's what we gotta figure out," Stiles said, standing back up and walking back into the class room.
"Start looking for..anything," he said, beginning to search through the cabinets.
"Stiles," I interrupted his search, walking toward the chalkboard.
"Violet what are those?" Stiles asked.
"Atomic numbers," Lydia answered for me, walking up beside me.
"Is it a formula?" Stiles questioned.
"Not really. 19's potassium, 53's iodine, 88's radium," Lydia said. My breath caught in my throat and I snapped up a piece of chalk, writing up the letter symbols for each element.
"Kira," I breathed. "We have to find Scott. He's at Kira's. We have to find him right now."
.
We leaped out of the jeep to see Scott laying next to his motorbike, knocked unconscious.
I fell to my knees beside him, shaking him as Stiles and Lydia followed suit. "Scott!" Stiles called. He gasped back into consciousness. "Barrow he-he took Kira!" Scott exclaimed.
"We know he was after her the whole time," Stiles said.
Scott called Isaac and asked him if he or Allison, who had been searching the bestiary, had found anything. They hadn't.
"We have to think of something, he's going to kill her," Scott said.
"I knew he was there," Lydia said. "How did I know that?"
"Because you heard the flies right?" Stiles said.
"What do you hear now?" Scott asked. She concentrated for a moment.
"Nothing," she responded. "I feel like I can do this but I don't know what to do. It feels like it's on the tip of my tongue but I don't know how to trigger it! I swear to god, it literally makes me want to scream."
"Then do it," i said. "Scream Lydia, scream!"
She opened her mouth, and she did.
She screamed for a few moments, the sound loud and slightly painful, but there was a power behind it, a certain feel of danger and urgency. She quietened down for a few moments, slowly looking upward before spinning around to face us.
"It's not flies," she said. "It's electricity."
