Wind

Loki paced the cell slowly, occasionally stopping to stare out of the glass, his hands folded behind his back.
Finn sat curled up on the white seat, staring at the floor, still in a state of shock.
So far her day consisted of strange people buzzing around her, Captain America, Iron Man, falling thousands of feet from the sky, and getting kissed. By Loki. The, "god of Mischief."

That last bit was what was confusing Finn the most at that time. As least, he had kissed her, hadn't he?
Finn continued to replay the event over and over again in her mind; Her body finally feeling sweet relief, then coolness on her lips, followed by pressure on her face; like when she touched her lips after they numbed it at the dentist, just not quite as tingly. Then, he was there, his face nearly glued to hers, and his eyes uncomfortably close.

Each time Finn turned the memory over, her stomach started to flutter with nerves, and the hair on her arm rose. She rapped her fingertips on her arms as she crossed them over her knees.
Loki hadn't said much after that, and seemed content to stare out the window of the cell.
Finn feared to say anything now; she didn't dare try and break the veil of silence between them.
Thankfully, Loki did that for her after a short time had passed.

Loki tilted his head downwards a tad as he spoke, looking directly at Finn, "Are you feeling better now?"
Finn nodded her head as he stepped towards her, "Yes. I am, thanks." Finn's voice came out hoarse and scratchy, and she cleared her throat, swallowing a dry lump.
"May I?" Loki stood next to the bench, and gestured towards the now tiny space of room, since Finn now occupied most of it.
"Oh!" Finn quickly straightened her back and dropped her legs down as she scooted over to make room.
Loki sat down with his never ending grace, and Finn eyes him.
Loki caught her look and his eyebrow arched upwards, "Have I offended you?"
Finn blinked and felt red go to her cheeks, "No no! It's uh…it's nothing."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
Finn swallowed. There was no way she would ever tell Loki she found him graceful. That would be weird to say, especially to someone like him.
"Well, I thought that we might use this time wisely." Loki said, looking towards Finn.
Finn folded her hands in her lap, twisting her fingers together, "Like what?"
"Why don't I show you?"

Loki suddenly turned his body towards Finn, their knees now touching, leaned forward and rested his hands on the side of Finn's head. His thumbs rested on her cheeks, while the rest of his hand wove through the sides of her hair, kissing her ears with his cool touch.
Finn immediately recoiled from the touch, but Loki held her, "Do not be afraid."

Pursing her lips together, Finn just gave a slight nod of her head, it wasn't exactly fear that made her jerk back from his touch.
"What are you going to do?" Finn asked as apprehension laced her stomach, last time he held her face like that, she had no idea what he really did. Finn nervously twisted the rings on her pinky finger with her thumb. Were there cameras watching them in here too? Before Finn could worry about what that could mean for her, Loki broke her train of thought.
Loki just flashed her a devious grin, "You'll see."

Once again Loki closed the gap between them, and Finn didn't dare breath. His cool forehead pressed against hers, neither of the two blinking.
"Are you ready?" He smiled.
Finn's face didn't move, "I guess."

As Loki's grin grew more lopsided, something seemed to flash in his eyes, and Finn's vision twisted with fury.
The world shifted around her like a pinwheel, colors blurring, and her body once again felt an alien pull, and the weightlessness settled in. Finn immediately wanted to hurl as everything twisted with a beautiful vibrancy as it all came to a sudden halt, and Finn fell. Like someone had just dunked her into a pool of ice, her rear end collided with a hard thud, and Finn rolled on to the ground.
Blinking, Finn sat up, her legs sprawled in a lush, grassy field as far as the eye could see.
"Oh my God…" Finn gasped as she scrambled upwards.

The grass that surrounded her was the greenest she had ever seen, gently bending in the summer breeze. Color randomly broke the green in a seemingly perfect way, not a flower felt out of place. The sky above her was that picture perfect blue, and the sun bore down with a kind warmth, and Finn shielded her eyes from its gaze. Birds chirping pleasing tunes twisted in the sky, and Finn closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Everything around her was utterly beautiful, wonderful, and peaceful.
The grass tickled her skin, and Finn looked down to see she had lost her black leather outfit for a soft white, ethereal short dress that stopped just before the knees.
Wriggling her toes Finn discovered she had no shoes as well, and the grass below her never once prickled or touched her skin in an uncomfortable way.

"Does it please you?" Loki's voice said in her ear.
Finn twisted her head to look back at Loki. He too had lost his harsh armor for a cream tunic, and well fitted brown trousers. Finn noticed he kept his leather boots on. Finn chuckled to herself internally as she imagined him without shoes. That just seemed too far-fetched.
Finn actually smiled, "It's amazing! Why didn't you take me to a place like this before?" Finn took a step backwards in the grass before sucking in a breath of horror, "What about Serena?! I can't leave her ther—"
Loki chuckled as he interrupted her, "You seem to misunderstand me, Finn. We have not gone anywhere."
Finn scrunched her nose, "What do you mean? Where the hell are we then?"
Loki's devious smile returned, "In my illusion, in a manner of speaking."

Finn's eyes widened, "Your illusion? But it feels so…real." Finn wondered if the cameras were now watching her in the cell. All anyone would see would be her walking around the cell like she was insane. Finn hoped that wasn't the case.
"That is what an illusion is." Loki replied.

"But, I can feel this!" Finn bent down and ripped the grass from the dirt, and shoved it in Loki's face, "See!"
Loki gave a short laugh, and lowered Finn's eager, dirt smudged hand. "Call it a masterful illusion, if you must."
"Sooo, we're in the cell then?" Finn said, curling her fingers over the grass stubs in her palm.
"More like my mind, actually. Or rather, a combination of yours and mine."
Finn twisted her head to stare at him, "THIS is your mind?"
Loki sniffed, "You seem surprised."
Finn just looked at him, not even bothering to respond to that.
Loki turned his head upwards, as if he had just been wounded, "Well. Perhaps you should not judge a book by its cover."

Finn crinkled her nose as she turned away from him, "Some book cover then…" she muttered, testing the softness of the grass once more with her toes. Finn wasn't sure why she felt so at ease though. The thoughts that were constantly plaguing her seemed distant and vague. Was Loki doing that? Or was that the effect of his illusion? All Finn could think about is what was being presented before her at that moment. Even the image or her prancing around in the cell as the cameras watched her drifted away as she looked down at her feet.
"Why am I in a dress?" Finn asked in the short silence, looking back up.
"I thought you might find it welcoming." Loki silently took place at Finn's side, "And I thought it fitting of you." His eyes dropped down to her legs before rising up again.
Finn watched his eyes, and felt color go to her cheeks. "Ah." Was all she said as she quickly took a step forward. "Ok, so why are we here?"

"I'd like to teach you something."
Finn bent down and picked a light pink flower, and twirled it in front of her as she stood up. His mind was an awfully distracting place. Way too pretty too. Finn thought.
Loki watched her twirl the flower with amusement, "I thought it was time to teach you something about magic."
Finn dropped the flower, "Seriously!?"
Loki chuckled, and folded his arms over his chest. "That is, if you think you are capable of doing so."
Finn jumped ever so slightly in the air, "Yes! I am!"

"Very well." Loki started to slowly pace in front of Finn, "Everyone who has the ability to possess magic has an element. First, we must find yours."
"How?" Finn asked. She always thought water and fire were the coolest elements, and she hoped she had one of those. Finn immediately thought of one of her favorite animated shows, and grinned inwardly.

Loki held his hand out expectantly, and Finn placed her hand in his automatically."There are multiple ways of discovering this. Some are born and know their whole lives, others must discover it. To do this, it takes someone who is adept in magic that can search for the answer, but it cannot be a stranger either. To do this, it must be someone you know or your being will reject the process. The outcomes of that can be…devastating."
"Devastating? Like, how?" Finn chirped nervously, she knew that things could go wrong quickly when it came to the mind. After Serena and Finn had exchanged unwanted emotions a few times over, including recently, she began to be weary of it all. I didn't help no one ever explained anything to her.

Loki just chuckled, "You need not fear that outcome, therefore I see no reason to give you any grim ideas."
Finn furled her eyebrows together, not happy with his answer, and not quite understanding the process either, "Ok…Well, is there anything I need to do?"
Loki's brow raised slight as he looked at her, "Be calm, it will feel strange. Do not resist what you will feel."

Loki wrapped both his large hands around Finn's, and to her surprise, they felt warm. He closed his eyes, and Finn suddenly felt like she had lightly touched the end of a needle; He was searching her, but not just her thoughts. Finn was starting to hate these strange sensations because she could never describe them to herself, let alone someone like Serena. It felt like someone was looking at her. Examining every inch of her being, her bones, her soul, every fiber that made her who she was. Finn felt Loki's hands tighten around her lone hand, and Finn's body suddenly screamed for her to pull away, the intimacy of the feeling was too overwhelming. The strangest part was, as he searched her, she felt him too. It was too much for her whole being to experience so unexpectedly.
Finn tried to breathe through her nose and mouth, remembering Loki's words and trying to relax. Finn watched Loki's eyes dash underneath his fluttering eyelids, and her heartbeat quickened.
As the breeze caught her dress, the strange sensation didn't feel quite as alarming. A few minutes passed, and just when the strange feelings didn't want to make Finn crawl out of her skin, Loki opened his eyes.

As they opened, Finn felt like she dropped something, and her head jerked down to look at the ground. She looked back up, confused. Why did it feel like she just lost something? Stupid, weird alien mojo. Finn thought.
"It seems my inclinations were correct." Loki's grip softened, but didn't drop her hands. She looked at him with wide eyes, "What did you find?! What am I!?"
Loki gave his trademark lopsided grin, "Do you truly wish to know?"
Finn had to resist from jumping up and down, "Yes! Tell me!"
"Wind."
Finn's open mouth quickly closed and twisted, and she pulled her hand away from Loki's. "Wind? Are you sure?"
Loki's eyebrows arched as he watched her body language sag in disappointment, "Upset, are we?"
"I was hoping for something a bit cooler than that."

"I know. I saw." Loki's eyes glimmered.
"Can you change it?"
Loki actually started to laugh, in a way Finn had never heard before. Her face twisted in dissatisfaction, annoyed with his reaction.
"My dear Finn, I cannot recall such a time when someone wished to change their element." Loki seemed to struggle with hiding his grin as one of his hands covered the corner of his mouth.
"So that's a no then?" Finn kicked the grass beneath her, feeling like she had been scolded. What can I do with wind? Give someone wind burn? Finn thought with a grimace.
"No, I cannot change your element."
"Ok. What does that mean for me then?" Finn sniffed, the excitement leaving her voice.
"Wind is one of the strongest elements, Finn. Wind was no boundaries, nothing can stop it." Loki gestured with his hands rather enthusiastically as he spoke, "You can shut a door, but the wind will find its way inside. It can knock down monuments and giants in its strongest form. You can knock people to their feet in one fell swoop."
Loki took a step closer, lowering himself to look Finn in the eye, "Most of all, Wind is always underestimated. No one expects it, until its fury has been unleashed upon them."
Finn watched Loki, and nodded in slight awe. Maybe having Wind as her element wasn't so horrible after all. "Did you know what my element was before this?"
Loki stood back up, "Because your unique powers deal with sound, it was not so far-fetched to believe Wind claimed you as her own. The two are intertwined."
Finn nodded, "I guess so…" It made sense. When Finn really thought about it, sound was something you could feel, but couldn't see, like wind. Wondering, she asked aloud, "Can I combine the two? You know, to make my powers stronger?"
Loki grinned, "Yes. You must always think the two as one, how can one benefit the other? Wind carries sound a great distance, if it wants." Loki winked as he walked around Finn. Nodding to herself, Finn stared at the ground. Was this training a good thing, or a bad thing? Once again, before the thought could completely form, it was gone.

"Let's start with the basics first."
Loki stood side by side with Finn, the breeze catching his loose tunic, "Now, open your palms to the sky."
Finn nodded, starting to get excited again. She was going to learn to use MAGIC. She hoped it was as cool as it was in the TV shows and books she always watched and read.
"Good." He looked down, and curled his fingers in, and in a flash, a perfectly formed snowflake rotated in his palm.
Finn's eyes widened, "Whoa! That's amazing!" Eyes looking up, she started at Loki as she spoke, "Is ice your element?"
Loki grinned proudly, "Yes, it is." and added with a smirk, "How observant we are."
Finn twisted her mouth and dropped her gaze to her palms, "Yeah yeah, would you just teach me already?"

"As you wish. Now, imagine wind in your palm. Feel it spinning in your palm, soft and brisk."
Finn squeezed her eyes closed, and tried to imagine a little ball of wind in her hand. Finn stood quietly for a minute, before she started to get annoyed. Nothing was happening. Nothing felt different.
"You sure this will work?" Finn said, opening her eyes, looking skeptical.
"My, aren't we the impatient one. Try again."
Finn closed her eyes, letting a loud wisp of breath out of her nostrils, and tried again.
To Finn's shocking conclusion, nothing formed in her palm besides disappointment.

Finn quickly remembered why she didn't like any form of training with this man. Course, I shouldn't like it considering the circumstances. Finn chided herself. Again and again she tried, and again and again Loki commanded her to try again.
"This isn't working." Finn said, grinding her teeth together.
"Perhaps you aren't trying hard enough." Loki said in an amused tone.
"You know, you're a really bad teacher." Finn said sourly.
"Again."

After what had to be the hundredth time, Finn broke away from his side. "Are you just screwing with me? How long have we been doing this?" Finn tried to make her eyes hard, and stare him down, but it felt useless.
Loki just raised his eyes at her, "Ahh, old habits die hard, do they not?" Loki shook his head as he looked down, "Finn. Magic takes years to learn, and a lifetime to master. I never said you would be able to do it today, nor tomorrow, nor the day after."
Finn's mouth dropped open, almost in offence, "Seriously? Then why am I even trying then?"
His chin lifted slightly upwards as he spoke, "Because I believed you could do accomplish this task, Finn."
Mouth closing slowly, Finn looked away from Loki's serious eyes.
Loki just turned away as he spoke, "It seems I am wrong."
When Finn looked up, he was gone.

Eye wide, Finn looked around her, and saw nothing but endless grass and sky. "Loki?"
Only a soft breeze answered her, stirring the grass only for a moment, before all became still again. Not even birds were chirping anymore. "Ok, ok, I'm sorry!" Finn said in a louder voice as she took a few steps in a circle, swiveling her head around.
With a heavy sigh, Finn dropped down onto the grass, and crossed her legs. Finn knew she was still in Loki's illusion, which meant he had to be watching her, right? "I know you can hear me Loki!" Finn tipped her head up as she yelled, but even if Loki did hear, he didn't respond.
"Jerk off…" Finn muttered as she shifted in the grass. In her stubbornness, Finn sat with her arms folded for awhile, and when nothing happened, she sighed again. Looking around, still not seeing any sign of Loki, Finn hunched over and stuck her hands out before her, palms to the sky. Closing her eyes as her hair cascaded around her, Finn stared to focus again. Without Loki there, she felt more relaxed, and with her mind already relatively clear she focused on the task with more ease.

Quietly, Finn thought about Wind. Scrunching her eyebrows, Finn thought about what she liked about wind. All Finn could think about was a warm summer breeze. The kind that wasn't too hot, or too cold, but that perfect temperature, no matter what you were wearing. The corners of Finn's mouth tilted up as she thought about different memories in the summertime. When she was younger, she had gone to a summer camp, and her clearest memory had been sitting outside by the lake on the grass. She had a fight with one of her cabin mates earlier, and all she wanted to do was go home. But, as the sun slowly set in the afternoon, and the summer breeze tousled her then very short hair, she had felt content. Like Finn did now. Feeling her fingers tingle, with annoyance, Finn opened her eyes and nearly screamed.
There, in the cup of her hands, was a tiny, warm ball of wind. Finn could barely see it, but she felt it.
Finn jerked her head up, "I did it! I did it!" As Finn looked around, Loki still remained absent. Finn's shoulders dropped with disappointment, she wanted to share with someone her accomplishment. Turning her head back, Finn focused on the little ball of wind in her hands. Eyes bright and alert, she focused on expanding the little ball of warm wind. Once again Finn felt the strange tingling down her arms and in her fingertips as the wind because faster and more intense in her hands. Elated by what she was doing, Finn made the wind bigger, until it felt the size of a basketball in her hands. Finns eyes gleamed with wonder, was this real? Was she really doing this?

With a strong focus, Finn slowly uncurled her legs, and stood up, keeping the wind steady between her palms. Slowly, Finn pulled her hands away from each other, focusing on expanding on what she had just done, "Looks like you were wrong again, Loki." Finn muttered with arrogance as the wind twisted in front of her. Finn couldn't believe how it felt, she could feel the wind was coming from her. And as suddenly as she had done it, the feeling suddenly slipped from her, like a rope sliding through her fingers. In a panic Finn tried to focus again, but the wind in front of her whipped out of its condensed form, and threw Finn off her feet and hard onto the ground.
As Finn groaned, the grass shuffled near her head. Reluctantly, Finn twisted her head to the side to see a pair of black leather boots standing before her.
"Having fun, are we?" Finn looked up to see Loki with a large smirk on his face. "Come now." Loki bent down and offered his hand out, and with a grunt Finn took it. Loki easily lifted Finn back to her feet, and Finn quickly wiped the grass and dirt off her bottom. "Thanks."
"That is what happens when you try to do something you aren't ready for."
Finn squinted her eyes, "Well, maybe if someone had been there when I first did it!" With a sniff Finn dramatically looked in the other direction as she dusted dirt off her elbows. Does he have to squash every moment I have? Finn thought with irritation.
Finn heard Loki sigh as his voice echoed behind her, "No, and I am sorry. You have once again, surprised me Finn Fairheart."
Finn's eyebrows scrunched into her eyes as she turned to look up at Loki, unsure if he had just replied to her sentence of her thought.

Before Finn could say anything, Loki rested a hand on Finn's shoulder, "You did well. There are very few who could have done what you just have."
Feeling her cheeks start to warm, Finn gave a faint smile from the praise, "Thanks. You're not that horrible either."
Finn raised her eyes just in time to see Loki look at her and shake his head with a short chuckle, "Well, then I am relieved." Finn just smiled weakly back at him. It made her uncomfortable when he seemed serious and genuine. So, she quickly spoke up.
"So, what's next, then?"

"It is impressive what you just did. But it is also dangerous. As you increased the amount of wind, did you feel tension in your arms?"
Finn nodded, "Yeah, I did."
"That is your body telling you it is too much for you. It will take time before a simple task like that will come freely and without resistance." Loki bowed his head slightly as he spoke, intently watching Finn, who nodded. "What happens if I ignore it?"
Loki's left eyebrow arched upwards, "What do you think?"
"Nothing good?"
"Bright as ever." Loki said with a smirk.
"Ha ha." Finn laughed in a mocking tone, "So how am I supposed to use what I've learned then if I can't make a torrent of wind yet?" Finn leaned on one leg as she placed her hands on her hips.

"Have you forgotten what we spoke of earlier?"
Finn gave Loki a funny look before it clicked, "Oh! My music!"
Loki refrained from another snide comment as Finn eyed him with warning.
"Correct. Soon, you will need to be able to carry your music with wind to great distances." Loki slowly paced in front of Finn as he spoke. "It won't be too hard for you, because your natural gift will be doing most of the work."
Finn shifted the weight on her legs, "So, we're doing what I did before then?" Finn thought about the birds, and focusing her powers on them, despite the noise.
Loki nodded, "Yes, that is alone the lines of what you will need to do."
"Need to do?" Finn asked hesitantly.

Loki just waved his hand, "While you use your powers, not only must you focus on your will, but where your sound will carry. That's where you must use the wind. If you let your voice be carried by the wind, less energy will be used."
Finn nodded slightly, annoyed that he ignored her previous question. "Sooo, it's like if the birds were a hundred feet away, and there was a breeze…I'd need to focus my voice on the wind?"
Loki nodded, "I cannot give you an exact way to do this. That is why you must think about the two as one. Only you can fully understand and feel how this will work."
Finn crinkled her brows together, "So, I'm basically on my own then?" Finn felt annoyed again. What was the point of all this? Especially when he continued to keep his intentions from her.
Loki titled his head back and forth, as he tried to find his answer. "I can teach you how to use wind; how to direct it, manipulate it, form it. But I cannot teach you how to mix the powers you hold within you."

Loki stopped to look Finn in the eye, "You must find the answers yourself."
Finn frowned, "But, how?"
Loki laughed as shook his head, "Finn, when I began to teach you how to fight, you were unstable, weak. Clumsy." Loki's eyes swept over Finn, who gave him an annoyed look, "But after a time of doing it yourself, your body reacted naturally. You figured it out by yourself before. And you will do it again."

Finn bit the bottom of her lip as she stared off. She never liked it when she asked how to do something, and never got a concrete answer. It also bothered Finn that he mentioned she would need to do this soon. What did he want her to do? Whatever it was, Finn didn't even think she would be able to do it. Which was probably a good thing for everyone but her.
"Ok. Well, can you teach me something else then?"

Loki seemed to think a moment before he answered, "I can try."

Taking a few steps, Loki positioned himself at Finn's back, placing his hands lightly at her waste, adjusting Finn so the two were parallel. Finn jumped in surprise and didn't resist Loki as he did so. "What are you doing?" Finn asked in a small, defensive tone.
Loki's long arm traces down Finn's right arm, pulling it out in front of her as he did. Finn's hair stood on end as his warm fingertips ran down her arm and rested around her hand.
"Do you remember when you learned to throw daggers?" Loki said as his hand then hovered parallel to hers.
"Yeah..."
"You're going to do something similar. You are going to direct the wind like it is a weapon, whether it is to strike enemies down or away from you." Loki's hand traced back up Finn's arm, barely touching her bare skin, "Imagine a torrent of wind in locked inside this one arm, and can only be released through your hand." His hand traced back down once again to Finn's hand, the warmth radiating on the back of her hand. "Focus, then push your hand forward as you release it."
Finn nodded, and closed her eyes. As she did, she felt Loki's arm fall away from hers, and rest gently on her bare shoulder. It was surprising how warm Loki's hand was; she was used to the coolness. Although, now that she knew what his element was, it made sense. So maybe that's why he's always so cold…
Finn's mind was quiet for awhile before she realized what she was supposed to be doing.
Shaking her head, Finn imagined as if wind was flowing through her arm, locked in a container only she could see. Soon, Finn felt the strange tingling in her arm, and tension. This tension however, was not what Loki had described as fatigue. Whatever it was, it felt like power.
As the feeling rose, Finn focused the image and with a breath, pulled her hand back then forward, imaging she had just opened a valve to release the air trapped within her arm.
To Finn's utter delight, a gust of wind seemed to emit from her arm. "Yes!"
Finn looked up at Loki to see him grinning, "Good. Try it again."

Finn practiced this several times before Loki thought it was enough.
"Now, this will prove useful if you are surrounded, or want to throw someone away from you." Loki spoke in a calm, authoritative tone. "
As Loki's hand ran back down Finns arm, Finn quickly looked away. Why did he have to do that every time? This time it made Finn shutter, his whole hand had encircled her arm, which seemed small now.
Loki's hand gently wrapped around Finn's wrist, "Keep your fingers straight and together," Finn did as he asked, and Loki moved Finn's arm for her and brought it to her chest, just under her collar bone.
Finn soon found her heart beating inside her chest. Loki felt uncomfortably close to her now, she could feel his warm chest barely touching her back. Since when had he felt this comfortable around her? Finn shuffled her feet, taking a silent, shaky breath.
"Now, feel the wind coursing through your arm again," Finn waited, expecting him to finish his sentence, and quickly knew he meant for her to do just that. Once Finn had focused herself, she gave a nod. Finn felt Loki's breath catch her hair as he spoke near her ear, "As you release your arm forward, release the wind as if you had multiple knifes in your hand, letting them fly before you in an arch."
Loki moved her arm out slowly to demonstrate it, and then released her wrist. "Now try."
Without hesitation Finn swept her arm out, as if she was backhanding something far away. Unfortunately the wind only made half of the arch before dying out. Finn made a frustrated grunt.
"Again."

Finn continued to try with Loki at her back, which didn't help her relax. Soon Finn started to feel the tension of fatigue in her arm and made a frustrated sound. "I'm not very good as this."
"It is a worthy effort for your first time." He said a matter-of-factly. "Your movement is too harsh." Loki cupped his hand over the back of Finns, and brought it to her chest again.
"Your movements must be like the wind itself. Graceful, strong, and calm."
Finn made a strange sound, "Well. That's definitely not me." Finn wished she had half the grace and demeanor Loki seemed to carry. Sometimes Finn felt like a young puppy, completely unaware of herself, and clumsy. Really, really clumsy; in both mannerism and movement.
"You will learn." Loki said with a calm assurance. His breath touched her ear that time, which made her shutter.
Finn just rolled her eyes. Like that would happen.
Loki's hand quickly squeezed Finn's hand, which produced a loud curse, "Ow! What was that for?"
Finn looked back at Loki to see that smirk, and she rolled her eyes again as she looked back at her hand.
"Focus again, and release when I command."
Finn nodded, and focused the wind in her arm. "Ok, but I think I'm getting tired."
Finn felt Loki nod, his profile aligned with hers. "On three then. One, two, three."
As Loki said three, his hand guided Finn's arm with an effortless and powerful grace, outstretching her arm just past her shoulder. The wind seemed to respond, flowing out in a strong arch, knocking their invisible foes down. Finn grinned.
"Better."
"I'm never going to be able to do that you know." Finn said a bit sourly.
"Then we shall try again."

Loki patiently mimicked the movement with Finn multiple times until Finn felt too fatigued.
"I think that will be enough. Try one last time on your own." Loki's hand fell away, dropping to lightly touch her waist as he watched her. Finn's hand felt cool where his hand had left, her skin already feeling the absence of warmth.
With a deep breath, Finn closed her eyes, inhaled, and released the wind in front of her.
After she had done it, her arm dropped to her side like a lead weight, while her head started to feel light. Finn kept her eyes squeezed shut as she spoke, "Did I do it?"
Standing there, Finn noticed Loki's other hand hap probably been resting on her left side the whole time, and suddenly felt very self conscious. Loki's massive hand wrapped itself around her shoulder, and spun her to face him.
Finn opened one eye to look at him, while both hands now rested on her shoulders, "Well?"
Loki flashed a cocky smile, "I truly am a great teacher. Well done, Finn."
Finn gave him a wry smile, "Gee, thanks."

"I think that is enough for now. I can't have you fainting on me. You did well Finn. Be proud of yourself." Loki gave Finn's shoulders a squeeze in assurance.
"Thanks." Finn said, and looked down at his hand. "So what is going to happen next?"
Loki dropped his hands, and gestured for Finn to sit down in the grass next to him. Loki crossed his legs straight in front of him, and leaned back on his palms, while Finn strategically sat with her legs behind her, since crossing her legs would end up flashing him.

"I assume they may wish to question you or I again." Loki's head rolled to look at Finn, "But that is no matter. We shall be leaving soon enough."
Finn absently rubbed her cheek. She really didn't want to be question again. "Where are we going then?"
Loki watched Finn, his eyes flicking down to her arms, "Do you fear them, Finn?"
Her eyes felt cautious as she looked up at Loki, "I don't know. I mean, when I'm with you, no but..."

Finn's sentence faltered, she hadn't meant to say that, but it was true. "I-I just don't know what they are up to. I don't like that." Finn looked away from Loki, and bit the inside of her lip. She didn't know what anyone was planning, let alone Loki. It bothered Finn that she was sitting here with him, in his mind, like it was nothing. Like he hadn't kidnapped her and turned her life completely upside down. Like it was just another day, training with her snarky teacher. It made Finn want to scream when she ran into the horrible fact that SHEILD didn't seem to have any good intentions for her either. Finn felt like a dog, continuously chasing her own tail, hoping to make sense of it all. But none of it did.

"Do you fear me, then?" Loki asked, breaking her trance.
"What? Oh...well…" Finn only looked at him for a brief second, and bit her lip; she didn't want to answer that.
If Finn thought about it sincerely, he had. First seeing him in her apartment had been one of the most terrifying moments in her life, a stranger in her apartment. His viciousness with Dustan not only made her fear him, but herself. As he had trained her, he didn't seem so bad, but even at the end of her training, he showed his brutality.
Finn gnawed the inside of her mouth, if his behavior showed anything he would be harsh to her soon. Not knowing how he would react to something did scare Finn, and thinking about it made Finn realize how careless she was being.
You can't talk to him like you know him Finn. A scowl formed on her mouth, and Finn just stared at the ground.

Loki seemed to sense that she wasn't going to answer, "It seems I have my answer then."
Finn absently plucked the grass from its roots with her hands, jaw clenched together. Part of Finn wanted to trust Loki. Not being able to trust anyone was driving her insane. It just seemed natural, if she couldn't trust SHIELD, then maybe Loki wasn't such a bad guy. Right?
The breeze picked up again, and blew Finns hair softly. Letting a sigh out Finn felt Loki's hand stop hers from pulling the grass out.

Finn looked up behind her veil of hair, her arm felt tense. Loki's eyes sparkled with green, and his hand curled around hers gently. Finn dropped her eyes to look at his hand and then back up at Loki, and jerked back. Loki's left leg was bent against the grass, while the other propped up his right arm, while the rest of Loki's body leaned in with his left hand, his face hovering near hers.
Eyes intense, Loki's voice felt calm and reassuring, "You may trust me Finn."
Finn's eyes flickered around Loki's eyes, feeling too uncomfortable to look directly at his pupils. That small sentence felt heavy and sincere, but Finn could hear Serena's warning voice in her mind.
You can't trust him Finn. You can't.
"Why?"
"I cannot lie here Finn."
Finn eyes him wearily, her gut told her that wasn't the truth. "You're lying." Finn tried to slyly pull her hand away from his, but his grip held firm.
"Did your friend tell you that?" His eyebrow rose ever so slightly.
Finn squinted her eyes, "No. She didn't."

"Well then, what is stopping you?" Finn was annoyed his voice still felt to calming. Being inside his mind was starting to make her feel anxious.
This time, Finn yanked hard on her hand, but it didn't move. With a grunt, Finn responded, "Do I really need to bring everything up, like you hurting and threatening my life, as well as my friends?" Finn didn't mention Dustan. That was your own fault, Finn.

Loki's mouth twisted into a half smile, "No, you do not." Loki shifted, and leaned in closer to Finn, she could feel his breath barely touch her skin.
"Although you may trust me, you must also fear me. You have a purpose, Finn. As do I. And once our glorious plan is in motion, you will finally see." Lokis voice spoke with wonder as his blue eyes seemed to twist and glisten in the sun.
Finn watched Loki with caution, how does someone trust a man who also wants you to literally fear him? "Our plan? You won't even tell me what it is."
"Are not the best plans the ones we do not know of?" Loki replied.
Finn crinkled her nose, "Dunno where you heard of that, but no."

Loki leaned back ever so slightly, his grin widened, "Aah." Loki's free hand rose to his chin, and his eyes looked off into the distance. Finn continued to yank at her hand, and even tried to use the other while Loki wasn't looking to pull it free. As Loki's head swiveled back to look at Finn, she dropped her free hand, he didn't even seem to notice her struggling to free the hand he held.
"This is why I admire you Finn. You refuse to bend your will." His eyes seemed brighter than before as he spoke, the wonder still in his voice.
Her eyebrows raised in surprise, "Really? Didn't seem like it when you first kidnapped me."
Loki just kept his grin lopsided, "Perhaps. I failed to see what I see now."
"And what is that?"
Loki leaned back in, his own nose inches from hers. This time, Finn looked Loki straight in the eyes as he spoke.
"You."
