Ok here we are at the very last chapter. It's taken such a long time to finish this season and I gotta be honest it's kinda because I just didn't really love this season of the show. I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who's followed this story from Black & White, all the way to here. Shout out to Ladysunshine6 for the constant messages (please don't be upset with the ending lol). Thank you for every kind word you guys have said, every like, comment or follow. Here we go then, one last time...
I had the cabin to myself. Dean was out getting supplies for the marathon research session we were doing and Sam had borrowed my car to go to the next town over to pick up some books he thought would be helpful. I lent against the kitchen counter and let out a heavy sigh as I looked around the messy home of the Winchesters. Books were left open, scattered around everywhere. Sam's laptop scrolled through his screen saver of photos he loved. Dean's check shirt draped over one of the chairs, needing to be washed. Beer bottles half empty scattered the room. I'm... I'm actually going to miss these guys. Years we've been together now. Killing monsters, saving people, trying our best not to the end the world. A sad smile crossed my lips as I felt my heart strings pull. I watched them grow, change, become the legends they deserve. I've watched them overcome things I just couldn't believe. I've watched them loose more than anyone should... I sucked my bottom lips as I felt the tears prick the corners of my eyes. I'm leaving them too... just another name in the long list of hits. Bobby, Jo, Ellen, Rufus, Ben and Lisa and so many more. I brushed the tears out of my eyes and rolled my sleeves up. I'm not dead yet! Get it together Megan! You've got Bobby to find and a spell to complete. Who cares if you're dying?! Walk it off and get back to work! I took another deep sigh and let it out slowly as I gave myself a quick nod. "Who would I be if I let my emotions get in the way of a case?" I asked myself walking back over to the last book I had been reading. I sat at the table and started reading through the paragraph. The cabin was too quiet, the silence that surrounded me kept pulling my brain back to the thought of me dying. Of how painful, of how utterly terrifying it was, of how badly I didn't want to leave these two idiots without any back up. I let out a heavy sighed, brushing the hair out of my face as I searched the cabin for my back pack. I spotted it nesting by the door. I walked over and shoved my hand in, rummaging for my iPod. As I searched blindly for the item my fingers skirted over something else. I pulled it out and froze to the spot. In my hands was my wedding photo. That was the happiest day of my life. I married the perfect man for me. We were happy, we were in love. I felt a dart of pain in my chest and screwed my face up. "Not now." I grunted putting the photo into my back pocket and grunting again. I shoved my hand back into my back pack and found my iPod; pulling it out I turned it on, slipping in the ear buds and turning up the volume as I walked back to the book. I need to focus on the work. I need to focus on Bobby and Dick. That's it. I sighed returning to my reading as I focused solely on what I had to do before I died. That good old O'Connor family tradition.
"Now I'm on my feet again. Better things are bound to happen. All my dues surely must be paid. Many miles and many tears. Time were hard, but now they're changing. You should know that I'm not afraid." I sang along with Bad Company's Ready For Love as I continued reading. "Ooh I want you to stay. Ooh I want you today." I sang tapping my foot along with the beat. "I'm ready for love. Oh baby, I'm ready for love. I'm ready for love. Oh baby, I'm ready for love. Ooohhh, for your love." I felt a hand on my shoulder and froze for a second, before pulling out an ear bud and turning to see Dean stood next to me.
"Hey, I forgot what a soulful voice you've actually got when you sing." Dean said with a warm smile of his face. I pulled the other ear bud out and looked back down at my iPod as I felt the blush rush into my cheeks.
"Yeah well, don't sing much do I?" I muttered clearing my throat as Dean walked around the table and sat down opposite me.
"It's a shame." He replied looking over to me as I avoid his gaze. I busied myself with clearing some space in front of me, pushing my hand written notes away as I closed the book I was reading.
"I, um.." I glanced up and got caught up in those perfect green orbs I had fallen for a lifetime ago. A smile crept onto my lips as I just sat there studying him. Perfect emerald green eyes, such a deep shade of green, so many emotions in them. The freckles- my god those freckles on his face, and how they always come out in full force during the summer. I still don't think I've kissed everyone of them. That smile. That heart melting, perfect mix of charming and cheeky smile. The stubble, oh man how I love that stubble, especially when it tickles my skin. This man is perfect. Just perfect.
"Megan, you're staring." Dean smirked a little more as I blinked and looked away.
"Sorry." I muttered running a hand over my face before looking back and seeing that smirk still plastered on his face. "So far I've got a short list of about thirty righteous people we are no more than a day drive from. I kinda want Sammy to go over it though, see if he can narrow it down." I explained looking down at my notes and feeling the smile on my face because I could still feel his eyes locked on me.
"That's great." Dean answered letting out a small sigh. "Anything on Bobby?" He asked relaxing into the seat next to me. I glanced up and frowned a little shaking my head.
"I have no idea how to track a ghost... even if it's possible." I sighed, pushing my hair out of my face.
"Awesome." He huffed shaking his head a little before leaning forward, watching me for a moment as I scribbled some more notes down on my pad. As I glanced up I saw the frown still fixed on his face. I paused, giving him my full attention as I turned my head to one side.
"Something on my face?" I joked shooting him a warm smile that did nothing to budge the frown from his face.
"No sweetheart, it's perfect." He answered shaking his head and looking away from me. Now it was my time to frown as I dropped my pen on the note pad and folded my arms over my chest.
"What's bouncing around up there?" I asked as Dean turned to face me and I saw the raw pain in his eyes. He just stared at me, but I knew what he was thinking about. "Oh, that." I sighed out chewing on my bottom lip. "Dean, don't you think we've got enough on our plates without worrying about-"
"You're going to die Megan." Dean cut me off, his voice low and serious. "And it's all because of me." He added as his green orbs drilled holes into the back of my skull.
"You haven't killed me-" I started to argue when I saw the flash of anger in his eyes.
"I broke your damn heart- literally!" Dean snapped slamming his hands on the table, making me jump in my seat. "I did this to you! I- I killed you!"
"I'm not dead yet!" I snapped back shaking my head. "So stop acting like this!" I yelled meeting Dean's heated stare with my own.
"How am I meant to stop acting like I've killed the only woman I've ever loved?!" Dean yelled getting to his feet as he paced up and down in front of me. "Tell me, Megan, exactly, how am I mean to act knowing you're dying and I killed you?!" He growled as his hands became fists at his side.
"So what I'm going to die?!" I snapped getting to my feet. "We have to find Bobby, Dean! We have to end Dick Roman once and for all! We have a fight to finish Winchester!" I yelled storming over to stand in his path.
"So what?!" Dean scoffed looking down at me with a million emotions running through his eyes. "You're life is damn well more important! I would do anything to save you Megan, even if it meant making a deal with Roman or Crowley! I would do anything to keep you here, alive!" Dean growled looking dagger at me.
"I am no more important than the millions of people Dick's going to kill if we don't stop him now!" I screamed shaking my head as we argued.
"You deserve to be saved!" Dean yelled, swiping an arm out and throwing everything off the table.
"I should be dead! Dean when I first met you I deserved to be dead! I've killed innocent people! I should have been dead so many times over by now! I am ok with dying Dean, I'm ok with moving on, it's over due! Why the hell can't you just let me go?!" I growled, throwing my hands in the air and walking away from him before I lashed out.
"Because I love you!" Dean yelled and I stopped in my tracks. "I love you, Megan." He whispered out as I turned and saw the tears forming in his eyes. "I love you and I honestly don't know how... I can't live knowing... I can't live without you... I love you. I love you so much and I don't know how to fix this, save you. I need to save you. I have to save you." Dean explained as the tears rolled down his cheeks. My heart broke seeing Dean destroyed like that. The man could take a beating better than most, but take away the thing he truly loved- it destroyed him.
"Dean." I whispered out his name as he brushed away the tears.
"I did this to you." He continued as I walked over to him. "I broke your heart, I gave you this death sentence because... because I was stupid, idiot, I just couldn't... I..." He wasn't even looking at me now as he tried to apologise. I walked over to him, closing the gap between us in a few strides. Dean looked up at me surprised, his eyes so big and scared that I felt my heart flutter at his innocence in that moment. I didn't know how to make it better, because really, there was no way to make it better. I gave him the saddest smile as he just watched me on awe. Instinct took over as I went up on my tip toes and pressed my lips against his. I felt Dean's arms wrapped around my body, pulling me closer to him as I felt the tears roll down his cheeks again. I wrapped my arms around his neck, my fingertips playing with his short hair as I closed my eyes and lived for the moment. This will always be my heaven. Being in Dean Winchesters arms, being held so close to him, entwined together. Dean pulled out of the kiss and pressed his forehead against mine, as I lowered myself back down, his arms still holding me so close to him.
"I don't blame you. I've never blamed you." I whispered out, my eyes locked on his. Dean scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Hey! Listen to me for once in your life!" I snapped as Dean looked down at me. "I. Do. Not. Blame. You."
"Well sister I blame me enough for the both of us." He sighed out as I shook my head.
"Dean, please," I begged feeling my throat tighten with emotion. "Please, don't let this be on your shoulders forever... don't blame yourself... please." I begged as a tear fell from my cheek. Dean moved his hand to wipe it away, his thumb rubbing my cheek as we just looked into each others eyes realising that our days really were numbered, and this time, there was no way of coming back.
"How do I live without you?" He asked sounding like a three year old.
"One day at a time." I answered feeling the tears reaching my own eyes. I blinked them away as I fought the lump in my throat. "You take it one day at a time, because you are Dean Freaking Winchester. You can do this without me."
"I'm going to miss you so much." He replied as a single tear rolled down his cheek.
"I'll always be with you Dean. Always." I hummed going back on tip toes and pressing another kiss against his perfect lips.
We didn't really do anything for a while, we just sat on the sofa in each others arms. Neither of us said a word, we just enjoyed being together. I had my head resting against his chest as he ran his fingers through my hair. I knew this was our way of saying goodbye. I knew this was probably going to be the last time I was going to be alone with Dean and that even though everything that happened between us, there was no where else I would rather be. I closed my eyes as I felt myself drift in and out of sleep, Deans steady heart beat, warmth and low humming lulled me into a restful sleep. I don't know how long I was sleep for, but I woke to Dean's voice, barely above a whisper.
"Cass... I know you are not exactly all there right now man. But I need you're help. I need you to help me save her. You need to help me make this right. I messed up, so bad. I never meant to hurt her, kill her. She doesn't deserve to die Cass. I need you man. Save Megan. Save her for me, please..." I could hear the begging in his voice, the desperate need to save me. It cut right to my soul as I heard how much he wanted me to live. I felt his arms wrap around me a little tighter. "She's been through so much. Lost so many people. She's the toughest hunter I know. Smarter than Sammy, and stronger than me. She could save so many more people, do more good than I could if she went. I think," I felt Dean brush some hair out of my face. "I think I'd just break down if she died. I'd just give up. On everything. She is the only thing that keeps me going. Her and her alone. So Cass, save her, please." Silence. Dean's plead was met by silence as Dean ran his hand up and down my arm nervously. I thought about opening my eyes and telling Dean to not try and save me when there was a loud thud from outside. I shot up, my eyes meeting Deans as we both quickly got to our feet. I fallowed Dean as we rushed out side to find out just what the hell was happening.
"Oh! Oh my..." I didn't know what to say because of the site in front of me.
"CASS!" Dean yelled as I turned my back on the scene.
"Hello Dean. Hello Megan, why have you turned away?" I heard Castiel asked me as I bit my lip so I didn't laugh. Dean was so pissed but I knew now wasn't the time to laugh.
"Maybe because you're laid butt naked on my car- covered in bees." Dean ground out his words as he shook his head, looking away from naked Cass.
"Yeah, what he said." I couldn't help the small giggle that escaped my lips as I spoke. Dean darted his eyes to me, the frustration clear on his face. I tried my best to not laugh more, biting my lips hard as my shoulders shook.
"Did I do something wrong?" Cass asked and I could hear he had sat up on the hood of the Impala. "Megan, why are you shaking?" He asked and that was it. I let out a roar of laughter as I held my sides.
"It's not funny Megan." Dean grunted as I continued laughing.
"But it really is." I sniggered shaking my head as Dean gave me a dirty look.
"Cass!Just- Just get off the car!" Dean cried out as I heard Cass and the bees move again. "And put some damn clothes on!" He barked. I heard the buzzing stop and turned to see Cass stood in his usual ward clothes, his trench coat over the top. Dean was wiping the hood of the Impala with sleeve of his shirt.
"Hey Cass. You ok?" I asked as Cass gave me a warm smile.
"I was just enjoying my time, talking with my friends the bees. They do tell the most captivating stories. And when they dance it really helps explain the universe." Castiel said with a wide smile on his lips. My eyes darted to Dean for a second as I gave Cass a warm smile.
"That so buddy?" I nodded as I walked over to the pair. "What brings you here today?" I asked as Castiel's smile faulted for a second.
"Dean called. He's my friend and I wanted to answer him in person." Cass explained, as we both turned to Dean.
"You know what, why doesn't Megan go grab us a couple a cold ones and we'll hear some of those bees stories?" Dean asked nervously, glancing between me and Cass.
"You wouldn't understand their cultural differences Dean, the stories would not interest you." Cass answered as I folded my arms over my chest. "Plus, you sounded desperate for a response."
"Cass-" Dean started to say looking dead at the angel.
"I think you should give Dean his answer Cass." I stated, almost glaring at Dean. Cass paused looking between the pair of us, like a child caught between parents arguing.
"I do not think I want to now." Cass said as me and Dean just looked at each other.
"Dean-" I started to say.
"He only wanted to save you!" Cass blurted out as we both looked at him. I don't think I'd seen Cass look as guilty. "But I am afraid... I don't know of any way to mend a broken heart." Cass explained looking between the pair of us. I looked to the ground, nodding a little. I had an idea that I couldn't be saved, but when the angel said it. Reality hit. "I am sorry, but please, here take these." Cass pushed some flowers under my nose. "They are as beautiful as you are." He said handing me the flowers before disappearing. I looked down at the flowers and looked back over to Dean with a sad smile.
"Least he knows pretty flowers." I muttered as Dean walked over to me.
"Megan I just-"
"Don't Dean. Let's just accept it and work on taking Dick Roman down." I sighed glancing back at the flowers. "Thank you for trying though." I added kissing him softly on the cheek.
"Always." Dean replied sadly. "Always."
We didn't talk of it again. We didn't talk of me dying or how either of us felt about it. We just worked. We worked on the only thing we could- killing Dick Roman. Sam showed up late at night and never picked on the fact me and Dean had our moment. That we had our final goodbye. Dean suggested something around one in the morning, and I don't know if it was because we were all exhausted or because we were all out of ideas but Dean's suggestion sounded like a good idea, so we ran with it. That meant I was sat in the back of the car as Sam navigated us.
"All right. Exit's in 3 miles." Sam sighed looking at the mile marked we passed.
"I still say this is a bad idea." Dean sighed as I sat up and popped my head between the pair. I glanced at Sam and we traded a look, thinking the same thing.
"Dean, it was your idea man." Sam sighed shaking his head with a hint of smile on his lips.
"And it was the best one any of us could come up with." I added with a small shrug.
"I said it as a joke." Dean protested as he looked at the pair of us.
"It was a bad joke – good idea." Sam shrugged as I sat back down into the seat.
"Yeah, only because we got no magic spell, no book – nothing on how to find a freakin' righteous bone." Dean sighed shaking his head as he glanced at us again.
"We can call Castiel again." Sam suggested and I screwed my face up.
"Sam, no." I whined as I saw the smirk cross Sam's lips.
"Dude, on my car, he showed up naked... covered in bees." Dean added as we both tried to shake away that mental imagine.
"Yeah, I'm not really sorry I missed that." Sam laughed as I rolled my eyes folding my arms over my chest.
"Wish I had." I muttered sharing a smirk with Sam as he giggled a little more. Dean sighed and turned the radio on to change the topic of Castiel and his naked butt.
"...The price of stock hit an all-time high following Roman's acquisition of Sucrocorp. I say Roman's a buy." A man on the radio explained, talking about stock buying.
"Got to disagree with you there. I'm gonna call him a "wait and watch."" A woman replied as we all gave each other a glancing look.
"Come on, Lawshe. You're killing me." The man on the radio called out.
"Hear me out. This is a new sector for Roman."The woman replied.
"That's right. He's holed up at Sucrocorp headquarters right now." The man explained.
"So sit tight. This-" The woman started to say when Dean switched the radio off again and and gave Sam a hard look. I caught his green eyes in the rear view mirror and could see cogs turning in his head.
"Holed up at Sucrocorp, huh?" Dean commented as Sam glanced at me. We knew this was going to be our time. If Dick Roman was really holed up at Sucrocorp it meant that we really had to take the advantage, and get the ready weapon as soon as possible.
We reached the crypt and Dean pulled the car out front. He got out and scouted around as me and Sam got the things we needed from the boot. I pulled my hair up and tied it into a pony tail as Sam opened the boot.
"I think this might be one of the smartest thing's Dean has ever thought of." Sam chuckled as he passed me a mallet.
"I think you could be right." I smirked feeling the weight of the mallet. Sam grabbed a couple of torches and a book from the boot before slamming it shut. I smirked at Sam before shaking my head and looking at the mallet in my hands.
"Hey Megan, how you doing?" He asked leaning against the boot.
"Huh?" I asked looking up from the mallet to Sam and instantly regretting it. He had the world famous puppy dog look and was aiming it all at me.
"How are you coping?" Sam asked again, rubbing the top of my shoulder as he gave me his most sympathetic look.
"Can we just, not?" I asked shaking my head. "I need to kill Dick Roman, I really, really don't need to talk about me right now, ok?" I asked looking into Sam's paler green eyes. I knew he was only trying to help, that he cared about me like a sister, but I just couldn't open up about it again. I'd break down and we would never get this hunt finished.
"I... I just want to say," Sam pushed some hair out of his face as he looked over to me. "I'm really gonna miss you Megan. You're my little sister. No matter what." I could hear the raw grief in his voice.
"I'm gonna miss you too Sam." I replied pulling him into a hug. Sam wrapped his huge arms around me, holding in the hug a few beats longer than normal.
"I'm sorry." Sam whispered as we hugged.
"Don't be, I'm ok with it." I whispered back as we pulled apart. I could see Sam getting upset so I punched him on the arm.
"Ow, what was that for?" He asked half chuckling, half almost sobbing.
"No chick flick moments, remember?" I asked with a smirked.
"Ok Dean." Sam teased getting up and shaking his head at me.
"You ladies coming or what?" Dean yelled as I rolled my eyes and we headed into the crypt. We entered the crypt, Dean held the torch, Sam read from his book and I held the mallet. "Well, I guess if we can't find a righteous bone in a friggin' nunnery crypt." Dean joked, looking back at the pair of us. Sam had his head stuck in the book.
"But did it have to be a Catholic Nunnery?" I asked crossing myself as I looked at all the tombs.
"Sorry, sweetheart it was the closest." Dean sighed giving me an apologetic smile and shrug.
"Just... if nothing else in my life, I'll be going to Hell for this." I half joked rolling my eyes and Dean shook his head at me.
"All right. Here – listen to this. Sister Mary Benedict, uh, taught the learning-impaired and died at age 23." Sam read out loud from the book and both me and Dean traded looks. I shook my head not liking the idea of stealing bones of a nun younger than me.
"Eh, it's a little young. Find someone who's had time to cook." Dean replied to Sam and I looked at some on the plaques on the front of the tombs.
"Okay, well, there was, uh... here – Sister Mary Eunice. Uh, fed the poor, became Mother Superior at age 60." Sam suggested, still reading from the book in his hands. Dean shot me another look and I shook my head again.
"Sounds political." I spoke up, looking over my shoulder back to Sam.
"Power corrupts." Dean added with a knowing look on his face.
"Right. Um... listen to this – Sister Mary Constant, 83 years of quiet, humble nun-like goodness. What do you think?" Sam asked reading from the book and looking at the pair of us. I glanced at Dean purse my lips with a small nod.
"Wow. I want to be more righteous just reading this." Dean joked looking from me to Sam with a smirk.
"Exactly." Sam added with a proud smirk of his own.
"Sounds good to me." I added as I looked at the plaque with her name on.
"Here we go." Dean smirked, pointing his torch at the plaque as he walked over to it. "Well... let's bone this nun." Dean smirked again, turning back to us. I could see Sam was pulling a face.
"Dean..." I sighed passing him the mallet as I took the torch from him.
"Sorry." Dean muttered, taking the mallet and swinging into the plaque, cracking it wide open.
"I'm so going to Hell..." I muttered under my breath as I watched Dean break open the tomb.
We got the bone, got back to the cabin, all took a shower and caught up on some sleep. Once we had a rest the guys decided to get the last ingredient in our little kill Dick recipe. I wasn't the happiest we were calling Crowley, in fact I hated the fact we had to trust him at all. But I knew for the spell we needed him. As we set up the summoning spell I silently prayed he'd at least stop mentioning me dying and how it was all Dean's fault. I kept feeling his eyes on me and when I caught those glances I saw how guilty Dean was feeling about it all. It was eating me up inside because there was nothing I could do about it. I had ignore the looks but I knew if Crowley saw them, things would just get worse.
"Just for the record- worst, idea, ever." I muttered passing Dean the matched as we all stood around the bowl.
"Ok, we get it." Dean sighed taking the matches and lighting a couple before throwing them into the bowl. As soon as the flame hit the bowl I felt my stomach twist in a knot. He's going to screw us over again. I just know it. I sighed as the flames died down and nothing happened. I cocked an eyebrow as all three of us looked around the cabin for any sign of Crowley.
"Is he trying to make a grand entrance or...?" Dean asked not finishing his sentence as we looked around.
"I don't know..." Sam sighed looking for Crowley too.
"Well, he does like the theatrics, right?" I asked confused as to why Crowley hadn't shown.
"Son of a bitch. He's standing us up." Dean grunted shaking his head as he turned back to the pair of us.
"Well, we summoned him. Doesn't he kind of have to-" Sam started to ask.
"If Crowley wants to screw you, he'll screw you." Dean huffed walking away from the table.
"Or... he can't come 'cause something went wrong." Sam suggested as the knot in my stomach got worse.
"Maybe. Megan, maybe you should call him?" Dean grunted as he looked over to me.
"Me?" I asked pointing to myself surprised.
"He does seemed to want to be you BFF suddenly, maybe he'll answer to you?" Dean suggested as Sam nodded in agreement.
"Oh no, it's not like you and Cass." I argued throwing my hands in the air as Sam hid a snigger.
"Me and Cass?" Dean asked trying to fake surprised but we all knew the connection Cass and Dean had.
"You know." I smirked as Dean opened his mouth to argue when someone knocked on the door. We all shared a looked as Sam grabbed his gun.
"Maybe it's good news." Dean suggested as Sam walked over to the door and peeked through the hole. He paused shooting us a confused look before opening it and letting Meg in.
"You deal with him. I can't anymore." Meg announced walking over to the side of me, but looking straight at Dean.
"You might want to be more specific." Dean replied snarky.
"I was laying low halfway across the world when Emo boy pops up out of nowhere and zaps me right back here." Meg groaned as she explained what she wanted Dean to deal with.
"Why?" Dean asked confused as I folded my arms over my chest.
"Go ask him. He was your boyfriend first." Meg replied as I couldn't help the smirk on my lips.
"Shut up." Dean barked pointing a finger at me before grabbing his jacket and walking out of the cabin.
"So Meg..." Sam sighed as he walked over to us.
"You don't need to do the small talk crap Sam." Meg replied stalking over the other side of the room as I let out a sigh and turned to Sam.
"See she's still a ray of sunshine." I muttered pulling my hair loose and rolling my head on my shoulders.
It wasn't long until Dean and Cass walked into the cabin. Sam had moved the summoning spell stuff out of the way and I was lent against the wall near the door, my ankles crossed in front of me as I watched Cass explain why he zapped Meg back and why he had returned here.
"Now, you understand I don't participate in aggressive activity." Cass started as he walked over to the nun's bone and took it out of the bowl. He inspected it almost like you would a fine wine, taking a good long sniff of it. "Mm. Sister Mary Constant. Good choice." He smirked looking at all of us before putting it back down. I glanced to the guys who looked as lost as I was.
"Why'd you go to Meg, Cass?" Dean asked but I could feel his frustration. It was a familiar feeling that poked at something deep within me. It wasn't just I could hear it in his voice, I could feel it emanating off him. I closed my eyes and tried to focus on the conversation in the room. Not now! Not now! Not now!
"When I left, I wanted to observe the flowers – and fruit. Flowers come first, obviously. But I heard nothing from them." Cass explained plainly as I opened my eyes and cocked an eyebrow, the feeling of Dean's frustration leaving me. That's right, who's the boss? I'm the boss.
"You heard nothing from who?" Sam asked confused taking a step closer to Cass but then I felt it again. This time I felt Sam's confusion from the other side of the room. Oh come on!
"The Garrison." Cass answered and I felt grief. I snapped my head up and I could feel the grief washing over me from Castiel. It was heart breaking, devastating grief. I panted hard, trying to get a handle on his emotions. Shit! That is so intense...
"What happened to the Garrison?" Sam asked confused, his confusion and Dean's anger fading into the background- only Castiel's grief and guilt hit me.
"Well, finally, the silence was deafening, so I went to look... to the home of the Prophet." Castiel paused as he looked in my direction. I pushed myself off the wall as I was hit by his emotions harder. I felt a tear roll down my cheek as I realised how badly Castiel was really hurting. Oh Castiel... you hurt so bad...
"They're dead." I said without thinking, my eyes locking with Castiel's. His grief and guilt doubled and I found it hard not to get pulled into his emotions. It was totally alien to me, feeling Castiel's emotions. They were stronger than any humans.
"You know, Leviathan can kill angels. There's a reason why Father locked them in Purgatory. They're the Piranha that would eat the whole aquarium. They're gone. The entire Garrison – dead. If there's anyone left at all, they're in hiding." Castiel explained, blinking and turning away from us.
"Um, I'm sorry. If the angels are dead, where's Kevin?" Dean asked, trying his best not to snap at Cass. Suddenly it felt like a switch had been flicked and all the emotion from Castiel stopped. I could only feel Dean's mounting frustration. Great lets go from heart breaking grief to gut wrenching anger- super.
"I could steal them from their cages, the monkeys. But where would I put them all?" Cass asked a loud, but not really to anyone.
"Hey!" Dean snapped clapping his hands and getting Castiel's attention. "Focus. Is Kevin alive?" Dean barked harshly.
"I don't want to fight." Castiel blurted out like a small child, the fear clear in his face.
"No, I'm not–" Dean took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "We're worried." He said softly, and calmly.
"They took him. He's alive. I felt such responsibility, but it's in your hands now." Cass sighed, actually looking like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. I blinked and all the feelings left me. I stumbled backwards into the wall as I felt like my head was spinning. Oh yeah, I REALLY don't want that to happen any time soon.
"Wait. Hold on a freakin' minute." Dean raised his voice, as I screwed my eyes closed, promising myself that the world wasn't spinning off it's axis.
"I feel much better." Cass beamed as I lifted my head. Meg had been watching me, but as soon as I looked up she darted her eyes away. I saw her gaze widened and I fallowed it.
"Guys, what's all that?" Meg asked pointing to the bowl we had used to call Crowley.
"We called Crowley." Sam answered honestly as Meg's eyes went wide.
"You what?" She cried out shaking her head a little.
"Don't worry. He never showed." Dean grunted to Meg, turning his attention back to Castiel.
"What do you mean never-" Meg started to say when Dean snapped his head her direction.
"Do you see him anywhere? He stood us up." Dean huffed throwing his arms out to the empty cabin we were all stood in.
"Well, I'm sorry about that, but I'm outie. He could still sh-" Meg began to say.
"Show up at any time. Hello, boys. Sorry I'm late." Crowley hummed, finishing Meg's sentence. He was stood to the left of Dean but still in front of me. "This is an embarrassment of riches." He cooed looking around at all of us stood in the cabin. Crowley turned his attention to Meg first. "Stay, won't you. There's really nowhere to run." He threatened as Meg ran for the door by me. In a blink Crowley was by my side, blocking the exit. "Don't even think of smoking out, pussycat. I've got eyes all over the place." He warned Meg as she looked genuinely terrified of Crowley.
"Leave her be." Cass called out from the other side of the room getting Crowley's attention.
"Castiel. When last we spoke, you – well, enslaved me. I'm confused. Why aren't you dead?" He spat out as he started to walk over to the angel.
"I... don't know." Cass answered honestly as I pushed myself away from near the door. I wasn't sure what Crowley intended to do, but I knew I had to be ready for anything.
"Well, do you want to be? 'Cause I can help with that." Crowley snapped at Castiel.
"All right, enough." Dean chimed in as Crowley turned to glare at him.
"It's enough when I say! I came here to help you. I find out you've been lying to me, harbouring an angel, and not just any angel – the one angel I most want to crush between my teeth." Crowley ground out his words as he turned his attention back to Castiel.
"Oh, so you can crush angels now, huh?" Meg commented from the side of me, scoffing at Crowley's remark.
"You bore me. You know that? You have no sense of poetry." Crowley growled turning his head to look at Meg over his shoulder. He turned back to Cass with rage in his eyes. "Now, what do you have to say for yourself?"
"Well, I'm still, uh, honing my communication strategy. I haven't even been back to Heaven. I-I keep thinking there are no insects up there, but here we have trillions." Cass went on a rant as Dean shrugged his shoulders as Crowley glanced at him. I saw Sam let out a small sigh and glance to the floor. "You know, they're making honey and silk and... miracles, really." Castiel finished.
"What are you talking about?" Crowley spat out utterly confused.
"Um, preferring insects to angels, I guess." Castiel shrugged as he walked down the steps to Crowley. "Here. I can offer a token, if you like." He added holding a zip bag with what I hoped was honey in it. "It's honey. I-I collected it myself." Castiel offered to Crowley as a peace offering. Crowley looked utterly confused. He glanced at Dean, again Dean just shrugged. Crowley glanced at Sam and Sam nodded. He turned to me, eyeing me as if to ask if it was all a joke. I just shook my head slowly.
"You're off your rocker. He's off his rocker – is that it?!" Crowley cried out, glancing at all of us again. He spotted a glass of whiskey on the table and picked it up. "Karma's a bitch, isn't it?" He quipped.
"Look, did you come here to, uh, donkey-punch your old grudges or to help us end Dick? Pick a battle." Dean huffed as Crowley sniffed the glass and then put it back down looking disgusted.
"Well, I'm vexed. I'd like to do both. But where's the fun in clobbering a ball of wet fur? Text me when Sparkles here retrieves his marbles, I suppose. Meanwhile..." Crowley went into his inside pocket and pulled out a small vial of blood. "A prezzie." He smirked wiggling the vial in his hand.
"Really? Just boxed-up and ready to go?" Sam asked doubting how helpful Crowley really was being.
"I'm a model of efficiency." Crowley quipped with a smirk.
"Since when? You didn't show when we called for you." I pointed out walking over to the side of Dean and folding my arms over my chest.
"Dick had me in a devil trap. He's not an idiot. He knows what you three are after." Crowley explained as if it was nothing. I wasn't surprised that Dick knew we were coming after him, we hadn't exactly been quiet about it all.
"So what did he offer you?" Sam asked carefully. We all turned to see what Crowley was going to say.
"A fair deal. In exchange for giving you the wrong blood. It's demon, but is it mine?" Crowley paused, shaking the vial again. "It's my blood. Real deal." He confirmed with a smirk.
"And why should we trust you?" Dean grunted, watching Crowley closely.
"Good God, don't. Never trust anyone. A lesson I learned from my last business partner." Crowley bit out, glaring at Cass.
"All right. Give us the blood." Dean sighed holding his hand out.
"Certainly. Oh, bonus. Meg, I'm gonna scoop you up, take you home, and roast you till you're jerky." I saw Cass start to move towards Crowley and I tensed up. "But not... yet. Cass can have you for now. Hilariously, it seems he'd be upset at losing you. And the boys need Cass to get Dick. Don't they, Cass?" Crowley smirked looking over to Cass, obviously knowing more than we did.
"Oh, I – I don't fight anymore." Cass blurted out, looking anywhere but at the people who were watching him.
"Come on. Given the particulars of your enemy, sadly, you're vital." Crowley smirked before tossing the vial of blood to Sam and disappearing.
We knew we were running out of time. We knew where Roman was, and we knew, he knew, we were coming for him. We had to act soon. Sam, Dean and I agreed we had to do the spell now and get a plan for going after Dick. We gathered all the ingredients for the spell and set everything up. Dean was reading the instructions from the book Kevin had written the translation in.
"Well, one thing's for sure – we only get one shot. This thing don't reload." Dean sighed reading from the book as Sam held the vial of Crowley's blood over a bowl containing the other bloods. As I walked over to the pair the smell of blood hit me. I stopped mid step and blinked. I felt an ache from my chest as I tried to get control of the hunger rushing through me. I let out a muted cry as I tried my best to keep control.
"Megan?" Sam asked softly, as I looked up and saw the surprise in both their faces. "Your- your eyes." Sam mumbled as I felt the scent of the blood hit me again. It sparked a hunger in me, one that only blood could fill.
"It's the blood." I grumbled out, shaking my head as I backed away slightly. "It's the biggest trigger for me."
"Are you in pain?" Dean asked softly, his voice full of concern. I could his heart beat faster and his breath catch in the back of his throat as he worried about me.
"Aching a little... I'ma... I'm gonna take a step back." I mumbled taking a few steps away as the scent of the bloods faded.
"Maybe you should go outside?" Sam suggested as I shook my head and sat on the table, my feet on the seat next to it. I put my head down and let my hair fall round my face like a curtain between me and the blood. I squeezed my eyes tight and tried to focus on anything but the animal side of me wanting to break out.
"I want to be here." I sighed, pushing the hair out of my face as I looked at the worried expressions on both their faces. "Just get the spell done and stop fussing." I huffed throwing a hand in their direction. Sam turned to Dean who just nodded a little. I could still feel Dean's eyes linger on me a beat longer before Sam pulled his attention away from me.
"You think Crowley's, uh..." Sam asked the question playing on all our minds as he pulled the stopper out of the vial.
"Double-crossing us?" Dean grunted sharing a look with Sam before giving me the same expression.
"Yeah." Sam sighed as I felt the pain fade from my chest. The smell of blood completely disappearing as I felt a little better.
"Wouldn't put it past him." I hummed out, hugging my knees. Dean looked over to me and nodded in agreement.
"But you've got to figure who he wants dead more – us or Dick." Dean pointed out with a look to Sam.
"Depends what Dick offered. Here we go." Sam sighed pouring Crowley's blood into the other bloods. "Okay. Um…so do we, uh..." Sam asked looking clueless as he picked up the bowl containing the blood.
"Uh, there's no magic words – nothing. We just... just go." Dean shrugged looking from the note book to the pair of us.
"Super." I muttered sarcastically watching the spell from a far.
"All right, then." Sam sighed pouring the blood from the bowl over the Sister's bone. I watched as he finished pouring the blood but nothing happened. We all waited a few more seconds just in case it was a delayed reaction.
"Where's all the thunder and lightning?" Dean asked the question that was on all our minds.
"Uh... maybe it worked?" Sam shrugged trying to sound positive about it all.
"Awesome." Dean muttered as I pushed myself off the table and walked over to the pair. "Hey you feeling ok?" Dean asked watching me move. His eyes took in my every movement like a hawk. I tucked some hair behind my ear and blew the air out of my cheeks.
"We knew this was coming. I've got a handle of it for now." I tried to reassure Dean, but honestly I had no control over any of it. I just wanted to get through this last hunt.
"Just... be careful." Dean grunted as I felt Sam throwing me the puppy dog eyes when we heard angel wings and a hand slap onto Dean's shoulder. Castiel walked in between the boys, his other arm had three plates balancing on it.
"So, none of this should cause you any ill effect. I went to a little farm in Normandy for the wheat and the lettuce and tomato and – and I thoroughly examined and comforted the pig before I... slaughtered it for the ham. Here." Cass explained the sandwich before passing Dean a plate. "You need your strength." Cass added with a warm smile. Dean took the plate off Castiel and looked slightly impressed with the sandwich.
"Thanks, Cass." Dean muttered looking at the sandwich. Castiel held a plate out to me with a wide smile.
"I remembered you don't like tomato in your sandwiches." He smirked passing me another plate.
"Yeah, yeah thanks Cass." I replied slightly bewildered by the whole situation. Cass held a a plat out to Sam to take too but Sam didn't take it.
"Hey Cass, why was Crowley so certain that you need to come with us?" Sam asked confused as I saw Cass look a little panicked.
"Crowley's wrong. I'll be waiting right here. But please – accept this sandwich as a gesture of solidarity." Cass mumbled, trying again to pass the sandwich to Sam.
We got the weapon, said our thanks to Cass for the sandwiches and hit the road. Dean pulled the car outside the Sucrocorp building as Sam hacked into their internal security cameras. I sat forward and looked over to Dean.
"What?" He asked confused as I just shook my head.
"I just think we shouldn't leave Cass alone." I stated with a sigh.
"He's got Meg, I'm sure they're fine together." Dean grunted looking away from me.
"If you say so..." I sighed leaning back into my seat.
"What else was I suppose to do? Huh? Let them tag along?" Dean asked turning to face me in the back.
"Crowley seems to think we'll need him." I pointed out sighing.
"Well Crowley can go kiss my-"
"Here we go." Sam cut his brother off as we all looked over to Sam's laptop. It showed footage of a board room meeting with Dick stood in front of everyone. "Thank you, Charlie, wherever you are." Sam smirked as I hoped Charlie was somewhere safe and happy.
"Got you, Dick." Dean smirked, actually looking a little excited to be taking down the bastard that caused so much trouble.
"Yeah, that's, uh, the second floor," Sam clicked a button and changed the screen to his desk. "And – and then – what's that?" Sam cried out as it appeared Dick was sat at his desk too.
"What the hell? Is that Dick?" Dean cried out as Sam cycled through the camera's. Each one of them showed another Dick walking around the building.
"And that's Dick." I muttered shaking my head at how boned we were.
"Son of a bitch." Dean grunted shaking his head as he looked out to the building.
"Crowley said, Dick knew we were coming." I sighed feeling defeated. We had one shot with the weapon. We had to hit the right Dick.
"Cycle through again." Dean sighed as I heard a car pull up near by. I looked up as I saw a maid get out of an pick up truck.
"That's the maid from the motel." Sam muttered as Dean looked up and fallowed his brother gaze.
"What motel?" Dean asked confused.
"The motel we lost Bobby in?" I asked Sam as we watched the maid head for the building.
"Oh, no. Oh, Bobby, what are you doing?" Sam cried out as he watched through his binoculars.
"Wait. Are you saying that Bobby-" Dean cried out as Sam threw the binoculars onto the dash of the car.
"Look, just, uh, wait here." Sam cried as he scrambled to get out of the car.
"Are you out of your mind?!" Dean cried back shaking his head as Sam turned to Dean and me.
"You got the weapon, and – and eyes on Dick, plural. I'll take care of Bobby." Sam explained rushing out of the car and slamming the door shut.
"Sam! Hey!" Dean cried out shaking his head.
"Shut up." Sam yelled as he ran after the maid.
"Should... I mean, we should right?" I asked climbing into the front seat.
"We get one shot... we can't just..." Dean let out a grunt as he shook his head.
"I'll go, grab them both and run." I said as Dean snapped his face to mine.
"You're human." Dean pointed out, the worry shining in his eyes.
"Most of the time." I smirked but quickly lost it at how worried Dean looked. "We all know it's going to be you to kill Roman. If anything bad happens, at least its better than dying the other way. Let me do this." I said firmly, looking straight into those perfect green eyes.
"Megan-" Dean started to say my name when I lent forward and kissed him hard.
"Me too." I mumbled against his lips before darting out the car and across the road. I had no idea what I was going to walk into. I darted under the fence and I could hear Sam arguing with Bobby.
"No! I'm not letting you go." Sam grunted.
"Get out of here, Sam." The maid called back.
"No." Sam grunted again when I heard the slam near a van. I hurried round the side of it and saw the maid Bobby was possession choking Sam effortlessly.
"Bobby, stop. Stop." Sam gasped as he struggled.
"Bobby! Stop it!" I raced over and pulled on the maid's arm. She turned her head to me and glared at me.
"I need to do this!" She grunted, back handing my face and knocking me to the ground.
"This isn't you Bobby Singer!" I called out as Bobby caught his reflection in the van's side.
"No!" Bobby cried out, releasing the maid and leaving her body. Sam doubled over coughing as the maid started to fall. I caught her from my sitting position on the floor. Sam nodded a thanks, still coughing but grabbed the maid, picking her up as I got to my feet. We both ran back to Dean to get the hell out of there.
We high tailed it back to the cabin once we dropped the maid off at the hospital to get checked out. Running away from Dick when we had the weapon hurt, but at the same time we really didn't know who was the real Dick. Dean was sat looking at Bobby's flask, a pensive look on his face as Sam talked to someone on his phone. Meg was lent against the wall, drinking a beer and I was sat on the top of the table, my legs swinging freely.
"Okay, thanks." Sam sighed as he walked around us all. He ended his call and looked over to me and Dean. "She's fine. Checking out of the hospital tonight." He confirmed as I just nodded a little.
"Well, that's positive." Cass said holding a sandwich out to Sam.
"Tell me again why you turned tail for some maid." Meg asked with a purr in her voice as she looked from me, to Dean then Sam. Cass walked over to Dean and passed him a plate with a sandwich. "You were right there." She added as Cass passed his final sandwich to me.
"Shut up, Meg." Dean grunted shaking his head as I put my plate behind me. I watched as Cass made his way back to the sink to dry a couple of plates.
"Because Dick made more Dicks." Sam explained as Cass turned and looked over to Dean, looking kind of scared. "He must've kept a chunk of the original Dick Roman somewhere. Uh, they'd all have to touch it." Sam finished explaining.
"Again- Crowley said Dick knew we were coming." I sighed out shaking my head a little.
"Hey, shifty, what's your problem?" Dean asked looking straight at Castiel. We all fallowed his gaze, watching as Cass nervously did house work to keep himself busy.
"Do we need a cat? Doesn't this place feel one species short?" Cass asked looking out to all of us for out opinion.
"We don't need no cats round here." I muttered under my breath as Sam gave me a half smirk. I sat up, surprised that he had heard me.
"You got anything to say on the topic of Dicks? Crowley was pretty sure that you could help." Dean ignored me, in fact he was just focused on Cass and why he was being so deflective about Dick.
"I can't help. You understand? I can't. I destroyed... everything, and I will destroy everything again. Can we please just leave it at that?" Cass asked, avoiding looking at any of us. He sounded like a three year old as he played with his hands nervously.
"No." Dean snapped getting to his feet. "No, we can't." He huffed, turning to face Cass.
"Dean..." Sam sighed softly.
"Come on man." I added talking to the back of his head as he just tensed his shoulders.
"We can't leave it. You let these friggin' things in. So you don't get to make a sandwich. You don't get a damned cat. Nobody cares that you're broken, Cass. Clean up your mess!" Dean snapped at Cass. There was a pause where the pair just looked at each other. Cass put the plate down and started to walk over to Dean.
"You know..." Cass started to say, and I thought that maybe, Dean had really got through to Cass. Maybe he was going to help us. "We should play Twister." He beamed as Sam turned to me and Dean. I blinked and Cass was gone. It was in that second that it clicked in my head. The real reason Cass was acting the way he was.
"Nice. You scared off the Empire's only hope." Meg muttered walking to the side of me as the boys turned to us.
"Meaning?" Dean snapped, annoyed with Cass.
"Cass, because he's Cass, right?" I sighed running a hand through my hair. I turned to Meg silently asking her the question. She gave me a small nod before taking a sip of her beer.
"Good to see you've not be infected by their dumbness." Meg smirked as I just rolled my eyes. She turned back as both guys looked a little offended. "It occur to you every one of those things was in Cass? He knows them. He can see past the meat suits." She explained to the pair as I saw the realisation appear on their faces.
"So, he'll be able to spot the real... fake Dick Roman." Sam explained looking over to all of us.
"Gold star, sugarpants. Too bad he's Fruit Loops. You might've had a chance." Meg sighed loudly as Cass reappeared in the room, playing Twister on the floor.
Dean decided that if Cass couldn't help, then we'd need to figure it out for ourselves. Which meant Dean was sat watching through videos of Dick Roman looking for some way to tell the real fake, from the fake fake ones.
"There's no real point in looking for a tell. They all downloaded Dick's brain. They've all got the same tells." Dean huffed shaking his head as he glanced up to Sam pacing around. I was sat cross legged on the floor looking through books for any spell to show the real Dick Roman.
"All right, then maybe the question is, what would the real Dick be doing?" Sam asked looking over to Dean as I closed the book in my lap.
"Well spell work is out, nothing I can find relates to freaking Leviathans..." I pushed the book away from myself and pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Is that the best you can do? Idjits." Bobby muttered appearing in the room.
"Bobby. We didn't know if you'd, uh-" Sam started to say as Bobby cut him off.
"Well, you should've. You got the flask. Dumb. You should've burned it right off." Bobby muttered looking over to the flask that was next to Dean.
"Bobby-" Dean sighed, trying to explain why we hadn't just let him go.
"I'm still jonesing to go back... grab some poor bastard, kamikaze 'em going after Dick. It's bad." Bobby explained running his arm, kind of like a drug addict. Bobby's eyes darted to the laptop as Dicks smug grin appeared on the screen. Suddenly the laptop snapped shut. "Let's be real." Bobby sighed turning to Sam. "I damn near killed you. And that woman."
"It wasn't your fault, Bobby – not really." Sam sympathised, giving Bobby the puppy dog eyes.
"Right. That's just what ghosts turn into. I really bet the farm I could outsmart that." Bobby muttered sarcastically as I got to my feet.
"If anyone had a chance, it would have been you Bobby." I spoked up, wrapping my arms round my waist as he shot me a sad smile.
"Thanks girl." He hummed, but I could see the pain in his eyes.
"So, what's it feel like?" Dean asked watching Bobby more like someone to study then a friend.
"What? Going vengeful? It's an itch you can't scratch out. Look... I'm done. Go get Dick. But don't do it 'cause you think it'll scratch the itch. Do it 'cause it's the job." Bobby sighed out looking at all three of us. "And when it's your time... go." He added as I felt a chill run through me. Bobby wanted to move on, and we needed to help him. We went down to the basement and set up the furnace.
"I'm gonna miss you." I whispered, biting down on my lip so I didn't cry. Bobby gave me a sad smile as I felt Dean put his arm round me, pulling me closer to his body.
"I'm gonna miss you too." Bobby hummed as he took a long hard look at all three of us. "Here's to... running into you guys on the other side. Only... not too soon. All right?" He asked throwing us a warm smile. Dean tossed the flask into the coals and we watched as it slowly melted. I felt a warmth from where Bobby was stood and turned as Bobby turned into a bright shining light. I felt relived that we had helped Bobby move on. At least he was now at peace if nothing else.
I was sat outside on the hood of my car, just watching the stars in the sky. I loved watching the stars, they always made me feel so small, that maybe my problems weren't ever as bad as they seemed. And when it's your time... go. Bobby's words were bouncing around my mind as I thought about my future. I had cheated death a few times now, been brought back more times than most. But dying – for real. That was new. I have to move on... wherever that may be. I couldn't stay and turn into Bobby. I saw how it destroyed him, nearly drove him insane. And what do I have to hang around for back here? Sam? Dean? Cass? Team Free Will can manage without me, hell they might even function a little better without me being there. Sure it's going to hurt like hell, the previews have warned me enough about it. But yeah, I need to move on, just like Bobby said.
"Hey, wondered where you'd got to." Dean called out as he walked over to me. I sat up, crossing my legs under me as he reached me. "Been looking for you."
"Found me." I smirked as Dean lent against the side of my baby.
"We need to talk about how this thing with Dick is going down." Dean said, looking out to the dark forest around us.
"You mean, there's a plan?" I chuckled out, causing Dean to glance at me, rolling his eyes.
"Hey, I can plan sometimes." Dean cried out, trying to defend himself. "We had a plan last time-"
"We had the weapon and stab Dick. Not much of a plan." I pointed out as he turned sideways to look at me.
"But still a plan." He argued, that hint of smile on his face.
"Ok, sure." I sighed trying to fight my own smile this time.
"Thank you." Dean beamed before taking a moment to watch me. I saw the sadness flash through his eyes as his smile faded away. I didn't need my powers to know what he was thinking about.
"Dean-"
"The plan." Dean cleared his throat, glancing away from him as he ran a hand over his jawline. "The plan is kill Dick Roman, the real one."
"Well great plan chief." I joked as his eyes darted back to mine.
"Shut up and let me explain." Dean sighed rolling his eyes at me. "I'm going to handle Dick. Sam is going to bust Kevin out of there and get him to safety. You are the distraction."
"Distraction?" I asked arching an eyebrow. Dean nodded and went on to explain his plan in detail. I sat there listening to basically how Dean intended to keep me out of harms away and pretty much away from the big fights.
"And then we stab Dick, end his evil plans and head home for beers." Dean smirked, clearly proud of his plan. I sat there, my arms crossed over my chest silently. "Well, what do you think?" He asked as I just sat there and shook my head. "What?"
"What?" I cried out, getting off the hood of my baby and huffing. "Really?" I asked cocking my head to one side.
"Yeah, what?" Dean asked innocently.
"You basically want me to be this big distraction then just run away. Not cool Winchester." I explained folding my arms over my chest.
"I'm trying to keep you safe." Dean sighed running a hand through his short hair.
"I don't remember asking you to keep me safe." I cried out walking away from the idiot.
"See there's the thing, when you love someone you don't generally need asking!" Dean called out after me. I paused, sucking on my bottom lip before I turned to face him again. "Generally, you keep the ones you love safe." He added plainly.
"By throwing me out of the fight before it begins." I scoffed shaking my head.
"Exactly." Dean huffed from the other end of my car.
"I don't want to be kept safe Dean, I want to be in this fight with you and Sam." I cried out, shaking my head again as I watched Dean sigh.
"I can't have you in this fight Megan." Dean grunted, his jaw tensing.
"Why?" I cried out throwing my hand in his direction. "Why is this time, different to the billion other times?" I asked raising my voice.
"Because it is." Dean huffed, glancing away from me.
"That is not an answer!" I snapped, feeling so frustrated with him.
"It is this time!" Dean snapped back, his whole body tensing.
"No Dean. You don't get to keep me out of this. I'm as invested as you or Sam! I'm the- I'm the reason Bobby got shot, ok! I'm the reason we just had to send him to the afterlife! I- I, I helped Cass open the hole in Purgatory! Me, Dean! Me! So do not say I am not in this fight Dean Winchester!" I yelled as I flung my arms out wide. I could feel the lump in my throat form as I knew I was as much to blame as anyone for the mess we were in. Dean started to shake his head as I let out a grunt.
"I am not letting you-"
"Letting me?!" I cut him off, rage seeping out of every word.
"I can't have you-" Dean grunted low.
"It's not your choice!" I snapped.
"YOU'RE GOING TO DIE!" Dean yelled louder then either of our voices. "You're going to die Megan. You turn Wolf and you die." He explained running a hand over his mouth as he walked over to me. As he got closer I could see the tears forming in his eyes. "You get in a real fight, that side of you, that wolf in you, she's going to come out." He licked his lips as I heard his voice crack. "I know I put this on you. But I can't... I can't watch you die... not fighting Leviathans. Not going after Dick. Not because I couldn't keep you safe." He admitted stopping just in front of me.
"Dean, you can't keep me from the fights forever." I said softly as I looked up into his big green eyes. The sadness in them, killing me.
"I can't watch you die and know you're never coming back." Dean admitted taking my hands in his. "I love you too much to watch you do that."
"I'd rather die, along side you, then live a life, hiding away. Praying the day doesn't come." I admitted giving his hand a squeeze as I looked back into his perfect green orbs.
"Megan..." Dean sighed out my name, putting his arms around me and pulling me closer to his body.
"I know. Me too." I whispered sadly as I pressed my cheek on his chest.
"I can't... without you... I can't." Dean whispered as he lowered his face to mine.
"Let's not think of tomorrow. Let's just make this a night to remember." I replied, going on my tip toes and meeting his lips half way. The kiss started sweet, two long lost lovers finding each other again. It quickly changed as Dean held my cheek, tilting my head slightly as our mouths opened and the kiss became more passionate. There was a fire to the kiss. A need. A need to be loved and show love. A need we both felt. Dean's free hand slipped down round my waist as I gave a soft moan into the kiss. My hands resting on the base of his neck as I played with his hair. We pulled apart just enough to catch our breath and I saw the love shining in those green orbs. The same love I saw our wedding day. The same love I saw the first time we kissed. I couldn't help the smile that crossed my lips as I looked at the man I loved.
"What?" Dean asked, a small smirk pulling on his lips.
"Nothing." I replied stroking his hair.
"I love you." Dean admitted, looking straight into my eyes. My grin grew as I pushed both of us back towards my car, taking Dean a little by surprise.
"Then show me." I stated, pulling my car keys out of my pocket and nodding my head to my baby. Dean just nodded, taking my hand and leading the way. His lips never leaving my neck as we stumbled towards the back door of my baby. Fumbling with the keys, I struggled to find the right one, Dean's hot lips on my neck shattering an coherent thought in my mind.
"Need a hand?" Dean's voice rumbled into my ears as I felt my legs go a little weak at the knees. I couldn't answer, I could barely nod as Dean's hand swooped over mine, taking the keys with ease, instantly finding the right one to unlock the car.
"Thanks." I panted out locking eyes with him once again. Nothing but love and lust shining in both our eyes. Dean put his arms either side of my head as he lent down and pressed his lips hard against mine. My hands instantly found the buttons on his shirt opening them painfully slowly. As I slid my hands under his t-shirt I heard the small groan escape his lips.
"Damn, I've missed this." Dean groaned into my ear as I let my hands run over his perfect chest and stomach, each muscle tensing under my touch. Pulling my hands back, I found the door handle, clicking the door open with ease. Without another word between the pair of us, we climbed into the back seat.
I felt a weight around my bare waist. At first I couldn't remember why, but as I felt fingers curl to hold me closer I remembered the nights events. I couldn't fight the smile on my lips as I felt a bare chest press into my bare back. I intertwined our fingers as I let out a small content sigh.
"Sleep well?" A rough, sleepy voice asked into my ear as my smile grew.
"Best night sleep in months, how about you?" I asked as I felt Dean kiss the back of my head.
"Same." He answered brushing the hair off my neck. "Wanna make it a great morning too?" He hummed as I felt him pepper kisses along my neck and down onto my collar bone. I squirmed against the ticklish kisses as Dean just held me closer to his body.
"Dean, that's tickles!" I whined out, trying to survive his attack of morning kisses.
"I didn't hear you complaining last night." He grumbled, pausing to kiss my cheek softly. I huffed, wiggling around in his arms so that I was facing him. His hair spiked out softly in all directions, there was still sleep in his emerald eyes and that lazy smile on his lips had my heart racing.
"Yeah well, you weren't objecting to much either." I teased before leaning in and pressing my lips against Dean. The kiss started so soft and sweet, but that hunger between the pair of us quickly turned the kiss hot and passionate. Dean grabbed my waist, pulling me so that I was straddling him. We started to get into it when someone knocked on the door.
"Um... Cass made breakfast... sorry." Sam yelled through the door as I rested my head on Dean's chest. "This is so awkward..." Sam muttered as I heard him walk away.
"You know, we could just skip breakfast." Dean hummed out as I lifted my head to meet his gaze.
"You and I both know, Sam probably just had to stop Cass from zapping here with the food. If we don't show..." I groaned climbing off Dean as he sat up, his hands never leaving my sides.
"I know. I just wanted this to last a little longer." Dean whispered kissing my forehead.
"Me too." I admitted sadly knowing that I was about to walk into my last fight ever.
I sat in the drivers seat and smirked to myself. Never in a million years would I have thought Dean would purposely let me drive his baby. Let alone drive her to do what we have planned. It really must be the end of days for this to happen. I gripped the wheel when I noticed Dean walk over to the drivers door and bob down to see me sat in there.
"You look good behind the wheel." He smirked, the smile not quiet reaching his eyes. I knew how hard it was for him, because it was damn near impossible for me.
"I tried telling you for years... but did you listen?" I teased rolling my eyes a little.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah whatever." Dean sighed shaking his head as he ran a hand through his hair. "So you good with the plan?" He asked a worry shining in his eyes, worry he was trying his best to play down.
"Yeah, you?" I asked meeting his heavy gaze. Dean just nodded as he glanced over to the group by another car. Sam, Cass and Meg were talking about something, but I couldn't hear what. "Whatever happens today Dean," I started to say as he turned to face me again. "We had some pretty awesome times together. I never regret a moment I spent with you." I added looking into his eyes.
"Damn right we had some awesome times." Dean smirked, again the smile just not quiet reaching his eyes. "I'm... I'm gonna miss you." Dean whispered out, the hurt twinkling in his eyes as his smile faded.
"I'm gonna miss you too Dean." I admitted feeling my throat get tighter. "I um... in the glove box of my baby there's a box. Our anniversary is the combination lock. I just... there's a few letters, photos, my wedding ring. Stuff I want you to read when times get tough." I admitted looking out to the group instead of Dean. "There's stuff for Cass and Sammy too. But most of it is for you." I added softly.
"Megan-" Dean sighed out my name.
"I can't say good bye. I could never really say it. But I..." I met Dean's eyes again as I felt tears forming in my eyes. I brushed at my face and let out a loud sigh. "Gonna miss you Winchester." I added as Meg walked over to us.
"I love you." Dean whispered just before Meg reached the passenger side of the car and climbed in.
"You ready to do this?" She asked looking between me and Dean.
"I've been waiting years to drive this machine." I beamed looking from Meg to Dean. "See you in there."
"Save some for us." Dean nodded, hitting the top of his baby before taking a step back.
"Shall we?" I asked glancing at Meg and roaring the Impala into life.
My heart was pounding as I revved the engine. I had a demon sat next to me and I was about to walk into the worst fight of my life. A fight I probably wasn't going to walk out of alive. But just sat there next to Meg, I felt like I had a purpose, a mission and that felt damn good. This is a good way to die. Fighting. On my feet in a blaze of glory.
"Hey for what its worth, you weren't totally the worst hunter I've ever met." Meg spoke up as I skidded the Impala round a corner.
"Excuse me?" I asked glancing at Meg shocked. She shifted in her seat uncomfortably.
"You're not the worst hunter I've ever met, ok? And I'm kinda of sorry you're going to die." Meg repeated herself as I cocked an eyebrow.
"Are you, are you being nice to me?" I scoffed out, not believing my ears.
"Look don't make it weird." Meg bit out, as I shook my head.
"Trust me, you're doing enough of that for the both of us." I teased as she just rolled her eyes and folded her arms over her chest.
"You know what, forget it! You are a terrible hunter and I'm happy that I wont have to put up with your stupidity anymore." Meg muttered to herself as I fought the smile on my lips.
"Thanks." I smirked as I saw security barriers heading towards us. "Ready for this?" I asked glancing to Meg as I gripped the wheel tighter.
"Yeah." Meg smirked as I sped up and crashed through the gates, smashing them to pieces. I skidded up the drive towards Sucrocorp front entrance.
"Hold on!" I yelled smirking as I crashed through the glass sign for Sucrocorp. As we crashed through the glass I slammed on the breaks as was jerked back into my seat. I groaned against the pain of my body jerking around in the car. The glass shattered from the sign and rained down on the car. If Dean could see baby right now... he'd probably have a heart attack. He would definitely never let me drive her again, that's for sure!
"Looks like we've got company." Meg purred nodding her head to the front doors as three leviathans walked out with guns. My heart skipped a beat seeing the leviathans heading towards us. I blinked and felt something stir within me. Already? I've not even thrown a punch yet! I blinked again and the feel stopped.
"Well least we know we got their attention!" I joked as Meg smirked at me. I could see in her eyes that she was just itching to get into a good fight.
"See you out there kid!" She winked at me, grabbing a machete and a bottle of Power Clean. Bullets sprayed towards the Impala as I ducked down, avoiding them as Meg climbed out of the car. The drivers side window shattered in a hail of bullets and I had to cover my face with my arms to shelter myself. I let out a grunt as I felt the frustration build within me. I need to get out there! I need to be part of this fight! The bullets stopped, so I peeked my head up. The leviathans changed their aim shooting a few rounds into Meg instead. It did nothing to slow her down. I watched as Meg just swayed her hips as she just strolled up to the three and tossed the Power Clean into their faces. I smirked, grabbing my machete out of car and raced after her. The leviathans were screaming out in pain as the cleaning fluid burnt and fizzled the skin off their faces. I moved without thinking, my machete making light work of one of the leviathans as Meg chopped down the second. The third was still wailing out in pain.
"You wanna?" I asked nodding to the third leviathan, both of us were splattered in the black goo.
"Together?" Meg asked as I smirked, lifting up my machete. On the count of three we both swung out and carved his head clear from his neck. I wiped the black goo off my face with the back of my hand as Meg smirked, proud of what we had just done. "Later, ho nuggets."
"So now what?" I asked licking my lips as I turned to Meg. I felt the adrenaline pumping through my veins as I was just waiting to get into the building and take Dick down once and for all.
"Deano wanted me to zap you somewhere safe." Meg admitted as I just knew he would have some other plan. I let out a low growl, shaking my head as I turned back to face Meg.
"Not going to happen Meg." I warned, lifting my machete up to point at her. I refused to be taken out this fight over what might happen to me.
"You going to fight me?" She asked in a cocky purr, her eyebrow raised. There was a hint of amusement in her voice as I gave her my best glare.
"Only if I have to." I warned her again, standing my ground. We stood there for a beat, Meg just looking into my eyes. The tension between us built as I just waited for her to make a move. I had no problem putting Meg down to stay in this fight.
"You wanna keep looking lovingly into my eyes or go kill some sons of bitches?" Meg asked cracking a smile as I lowered my blade.
"Thought you'd never ask." I joked feeling the tension go from my shoulders. I took the lead as we headed towards the entrance of the building. I opened the door when I smelt more demons. I turned to see Meg to flying off backwards and skidded along the ground, the machete in her hand flying off in the other direction. Meg sat up huffing as the demons seemed focused only on Meg. I gasped as I felt a rush of power through my veins. I stumbled into the door as I realised the wolf side of me was rushing to the surface. I grabbed the door and felt it bend under my hand as I shook my head. No, no come on... no I need to be in this!
"The King of Hell will see you now." One demon smirked as I shook my head. I pushed myself to stand up straight as felt the power flow through me. The demons started to walk towards Meg, who looked a little freaked out.
"How about a rain check?!" I asked swinging my machete out and slicing the head clean off of the demon who had talked. The second turned and waved an arm out, sending me spiralling through the air and landing on the ground near Meg. I landed with a grunt as I did not like being tossed around.
"Stay down!" The demon barked at me as I flicked the hair out of my face. I knew my eyes had changed, because I felt a confidence I only had when I used my powers.
"Make me." I growled, my voice low and animalistic as I charged to my feet and speared the demon to the ground. I started to lay in a few punches as he struggled to fight me off.
"Suck it!" Meg yelled swinging my machete down and chopping his head off too in one quick blow. I panted looking up at Meg and smirked. She held her hand out to help me, and I took it getting to my feet.
"We make an ok team, huh?" I asked cracking my bones in my knuckles as they fought to move and change position.
"I thought using the wolf side was killing you?" Meg asked confused as I looked at my hands.
"So far no pain. We need to get in there and help out." I sighed looking over to the building and getting a feeling of dread deep in the pit of my stomach.
"Let's go then teenwolf!" Meg joked as we both turned to march into Sucrocorp and end this once and for all. Suddenly Meg was pulled backwards from the side of me. I turned as she was pulled into the arms of two more demons.
"Meg!" I screamed out, not realising what was happening.
"KILL DICK!" Meg yelled, struggling against the demons who were holding her.
"The King doesn't like waiting." One demon hissed as I took a step closer and all three disappeared in a blink.
"Meg!" I cried out, rushing to the spot they were just stood. "Damn it!" I growled looking around and not finding a single trace of them. I looked back to the building and knew there was only one thing I could do now.
I had no idea where I was heading. I was just fallowing a feeling. A calling, I guess. But as I moved through the building, fighting a couple of leviathans along the way I felt it. It started as a dull ache in my chest but as I rounded a corner the pain had built to raw silver in my heart. I gasped out in pain as I pushed my way through some double doors and I couldn't believe my eyes. Castiel had pulled Dick's head back as Dean plunged the bone sideways through his neck.
"DEAN!" I screamed, stumbling into a table as he turned to me. The shock clear in his eyes as he just looked at me utterly terrified. As my eyes locked with Dean I let out a scream of pain. It felt like my heart was ripping into pieces. "I love you!" I cried out, more in a whimper of pain than anything else. His eyes darted to the side as Sam and Kevin rushed through the doors.
"Megan!" Sam cried out, helping me stand as I lent against his body. "Are you?"
"Yeah." I wheezed out, screwing my face up as another wave of pain washed through me. We all watched in horror as Dick's face transformed into the mouth of teeth as his tongue lashed out in the air. He gargled out in pain before he face returned to normal. I saw black goo run from his nose and the corners of his mouth. I clutched at my chest as the pain made the world blur around the edges. Waves of energy began to pulsate from Dick's body in time with the thudding of my heart in my chest. The energy started to concentrate back in his body. I gasped as white spots filled my vision, the searing pain in my chest making it hard to concentrate on anything. I felt Sam pull me closer to him as he cover me, him and Kevin with his arms as I heard Dick explode into black goo.
The room went deafeningly silent. The ringing in my ears blocking everything out. A felt a wave of heat wash through my body as I stumbled backwards into a table again. I clutched the table as Sam just stood up looking completely lost. I blinked away the spots enough to see Cass and Dean were missing, the room covered in black goo. I whimpered out in pain as Kevin turned to me.
"Megan? Megan what's happening?" He asked trying to help, but looking as panicked as the first day I met him. "Sam, Megan needs help!" Kevin cried out, turning to Sam who was just looking around the room. "Sam, we should go." He added realising how dangerous it was to stay in the room.
"What the hell?" Sam finally called out looking around for any sign of Dean or Cass.
"More chompers any second, Sam. Not to mention, pretty sure Megan's dying." Kevin added tugging on Sam's arm as I collapsed on the floor, groaning out in pain. The white spots in my vision were getting larger as the raw pain in my chest felt like it was caving in on itself.
"Not to worry. I have a small army of demons outside. Cut off the head, and the body will flounder, after all. Think if you'd had just one king since before the first sunrise. You'd be in a kerfuffle, too." I heard Crowley's voice but I was too weak to even move my head.
"Which is exactly what you wanted." Sam hissed from somewhere above me. I felt a hand on my shoulder as Kevin's face blurred in front of my face.
"So did you. Without a master plan, the Levis are just another monster. Hard to stomp, sure, but you love a challenge. Your job is to keep them from organizing." I could hear Crowley reply as he walked around near me but honestly I was just waiting for the pain to completely take over my sense and just kill me.
"It's ok Megan, I'm here. You're going to be ok." Kevin whispered brushing some hair out of my face.
"Dying." I wheezed out shaking my head I could taste blood in my mouth.
"Where's Dean?" Sam snapped above me as I coughed and saw the vivid red as the rest of the world started to fade into muted colours.
"That bone... has a bit of a kick. God weapons often do. They should put a warning on the box." I heard Crowley chuckle.
"Where are they, Crowley?!" Sam growled somewhere near me.
"Can't help you, Sam." Crowley added as two demons dragged Kevin to his feet. "Sorry, Sam. Prophet's mine." I blinked and Kevin had disappeared. I saw someone bob down near me but in all honestly everything was a blur of muted colours and white spots. "I'm going to be taking Megan too." I heard Crowley's voice when I gasped out in pain, my eyes rolling into the back of my head and into the familiar darkness that called to me. "I've got a plan to save her..."
So yeah I've left it on a cliff hanger because, sure I have ideas where to go into season 8, but right now I'm just struggling to write it. Other plot bunnies for other stories are demanding their time in the lime light. So if you don't see any update for a long while... sorry. But I will make sure when I've taken this back up to let ll you lovely people know!
