Anonymous Review: The fact there was a vampire in Yugioh made no sense, but I was explaining why it doesn't work. The fact she only looks like a vampire, but doesn't act like one just makes it to where anyone could've played that role and it would've worked. In fact, the penalty game could've been that the loser would have their blood be drained and given to Camula. Even the backstory was lame. It has nothing to do with the plot whatsoever and, maybe I'm lost here, but I'm pretty sure drinking human blood was what vampires do and Camula never did that. Even if I was to believe that she turned people into dolls to collect souls to bring back her race, where are all the other souls? Even Yami Bakura had a collection of souls sealed in dolls and not just him, there's Dartz, who collected souls to bring back the Great Beast that extended back to ancient historical times. This doesn't show that Camula is really that interested in bringing back her human race. All she is there for is just because the Nion Ad System thought it'd be cool to bring a vampire there and failed at it miserably. It makes no sense for a vampire to be there and the episode doesn't make it to where it could make sense. It just seems like a rip-off of Pokemon and the sad part is that even Pokemon did that plot better. The vampire episodes were just episodes that shouldn't have existed in the first place and, if they really wanted a vampire Shadow Rider, they should've at least made her believably a vampire. They can still make the penalty game be that she sucks the loser's blood, maybe even attacking first until someone challenges her to a duel, or at least show her running fast, being strong, or something vampire related. Twilight has sucky vampires, but at least I can believe they're vampires. Camula is just some psychic magician in a vampire costume and every Yugioh fangirl and fanboy I've met agree with me on this. I haven't seen one Yugioh fan that actually likes Camula as a villain and, if you do like Camula, you'd be the first one I've met. Yami Yugi made a better villain and he wasn't even a villain... I'm not talking about season 0 Yami either, by the way.
Now, we can get to the subplot of this story. Remember, there's a time gap between Nightshrouds first and second attack due to preparation and wanting to strike at the right moment. He's not going to just shoot out right after the first Shadow Game, especially since he's lost enough energy. He needs to have all his strength back in order to attack again. Review please!
Jaylin could hear the voice of her Daddy talking to some people around her. She can barely remember much of what happened or why her arm was hurting so bad with bandages on it. It was only until she heard the word "dog" that she remembered that she was bitten by the boogie man and the dragon had threw her into the wilderness. At least that's what she thought in her own little world.
There were so many voices the young five-year-old girl heard, including her Daddy's voice, which brought her great comfort. She knew her daddy would come and save her! Of course, there was the painful process of waking up, which Jaylin never wanted to do. Though, her arm was hurting and she wanted to know where she was. At least wherever she is, is away from her old home.
Suddenly, the room grew quiet and Jaylin felt her hand being held gently by two huge strong ones. Daddy was with her, protecting her. Then, she felt a raindrop fall on the tip of her fingers, which snapped her eyes wide open. The room was bright with blue walls with painted pictures of the grass, animals, clouds and smiley faces. Yugi was at Jaylin's bedside, staring down at the little girl's small, soft hand, quickly hiding his face in the sheets to not show the tears rolling down his cheeks.
Jaylin began reaching for Yugi's face before Yugi shot up, quickly wiping his tears, but still showing a bit of wetness at the corner of his eyes. He came closer and placed Jaylin's hand down.
"You should be resting. The doctors say you need sleep in order to get better," Yugi whispered, trying not to make his voice sound hoarse.
"I knew you'd come for me," Jaylin said in a whisper, reaching out her hand to Yugi's cheek before Yugi could push it back down. She dried the wetness that was left at the corner of Yugi's eyes.
"Jaylin..." Yugi whispered, taking Jaylin's hand back. A small smile appeared across his face. "I will never ever hurt you. You understand?"
"I know."
"I mean..." Yugi said, pulling Jaylin's hair on her left behind her ears. Jaylin's eyes looking up at her savior. "I will never EVER hurt you."
"Yes Daddy."
"Looks like someone just woke up! A friend of the family?" The nurse asked, who just entered the room.
"Nope. He's my daddy," Jaylin spouted out happily as the nurse's facial expression changed to a frown.
"Oh..." The nurse replied. Jaylin eventually drift off to sleep, being that she was extremely tired. Though, she could hear what was happening in the background.
"Can you tell me if Mr. Kaiba has arrived or not?" Yugi asked.
"Yes, he has," a familiar voice replied, who was a tall adult male with short black hair, dark violet eyes, wearing a suit and tie. Yugi took him behind the door, so nobody could hear their conversation.
"Mokuba, I need you to look after Jaylin, while I file some court papers. Think you can do that?"
"I'll do the best I can, but you winning the case is less likely. What are you going to do, if you lose?"
"I suppose I'll take the sentence. I'm aware that I might not win the case, but I will fight or get arrested trying."
"What do you mean by that?" Mokuba asked, furrowing his eyebrows. Yugi furrowed his eyebrows as Mokuba raised a pair of his. "Yugi... wha-"
"I'm not going to let those scums hurt her again. If I get the death penalty, I'll take it."
Yugi walked off on his way out of the hospital. Mokuba didn't know what to say about this, then sighed. He couldn't say 'no' to this. Yugi was willing to do whatever it took to protect Jaylin, even if it meant first degree murder. It felt like only yesterday, Yugi would've prevented Atem from doing something like that and now he's willing to perform it on two characters that left their daughter out on the streets, while she was bleeding. Mokuba couldn't go against Yugi for feeling this way.
Young Jaylin did eventually wake up from her sleep and even got to play in the play room for the sick children of the ER. Of course, Jaylin had to wear a cast over her arm, where the dog bit her. Mokuba did play with the young girl, who seemed to have an enjoyment over almost every game in the entire room. Mokuba decided to try Capsule Monsters against Jaylin, who enjoyed playing even though she kept losing. No one could defeat the champion of Capsule Monsters... except Yugi of course.
"My Clobber Giant appears three spaces and takes out your Devil Castle," Jaylin said, moving her monster and getting rid of Mokuba's monster.
"Whoa, looks like you got me!" Mokuba responded as the girl giggled over her victory.
"Yugi, you have officially lost your mind! I've supported you in every direction, but this is going way too far! You can't just kidnap a five-year-old girl just because her parents made a mistake!" Mokuba and Jaylin heard from far down the hall.
"Joey, parents making a mistake is leaving their pills on the counter! This is attempted murder and I'm not changing my mind about this!" Yugi argued.
"You don't know what happened and parents always shut their kids outside. Even Mom shut me out a few times when I was young for being naughty!"
"You weren't left bleeding on the streets!"
"Kidnapping her isn't going to make it right!"
"Which is why I'm gaining custody rights over Jaylin! I like you Joey, but I'm not going to send that little girl back to those lowlife scums!"
"Yugi, I'm telling you now, if you go on with this, you will bring dishonor in your name."
"Dishonor!? Those assholes dishonored their own blood by throwing her on the streets! Jaylin has been coming to me and asking me to be her new father, since day one, crying for help! If putting those assholes behind bars for letting their dog kill their daughter, then dishonor my ass!"
"Don't worry about it, Jaylin," Mokuba said quietly.
"It's fine. My parents are assholes," Jaylin replied like she was pointing the obvious.
Yugi appeared from the door to the room, luckily it was only Mokuba and Jaylin in the room. Mokuba held an expression, which told Yugi that they heard everything. He sighed, then came to Jaylin, who smiled brightly at him.
"I'm sorry you heard that," Yugi apologized.
"It's fine. You should be mad at him for defending the dragon and his witch mistress," Jaylin replied, which made Yugi chuckle.
"Yes, but I should be an example to you," Yugi replied, brushing his fingers through Jaylin's hair. "Your parents were arrested. They'll be in court and they will want you to explain what happened tomorrow. I want you to be strong for me and tell the judge what happened."
"I will!"
"Though, I don't want your hopes to be too high. I might not win. I will probably do something that will get me arrested and killed, but I want you to be strong for me. Will you do that for me?"
"Hm-Hm," Jaylin replied, nodding her head. "Will you stay a little longer? I miss you!"
Yugi picked Jaylin up, holding her, as she curled her head under her Daddy's chin. Her wounded arm laid against Yugi's chest and her left arm hung around Yugi's shoulder. Jaylin began quietly humming the song Someday my Prince Will Come from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, her eyes closed softly. Yugi swayed to the soft hum of the music being played before him. The feeling he felt that very time could never be explained and the world was shut before him, only hearing that sweet little sound.
"You should probably take her back to her room," Mokuba suggested. Yugi nodded, then walked Jaylin to her room.
Mokuba followed Yugi, including Joey, the tall blond man behind Mokuba with a blond mustache. Joey's eyes darted at Yugi, still not agreeing with this decision, but knew there was nothing he could do to make his best friend change his mind right now. Joey believed he still had some time to perhaps convince Yugi to not go to court and kidnap Jaylin away from her parents. It just wasn't right.
Yugi sat on Jaylin's hospital bed, still holding the young girl in his arms and brushing through the girl's soft brown hair. He probably should be putting Jaylin back in her bed, but something compelled Yugi to not to do so. He wanted to hold his dear little princess a bit longer. At this moment, this little princess was Yugi's and she felt warm and soft. Yugi could never describe the feeling he felt at this very moment that touched the very core of his heart.
"They never hugged me," Jaylin said, fluttering her eyes open. "... or kissed me."
Yugi smiled, placing a kiss right on Jaylin's cheek, which made the young girl smile brightly. Yugi whispered, "I do."
Jaylin sighed, curling up on Yugi's lap and resting on Yugi's chest. Joey asked, "don't you think she's getting too old for that?"
"She's at the age. You might not like it, but let me spend some time with my daughter," Yugi said quietly, resting his head on Jaylin's, fingers sinking into soft brown hair.
"She's not your daughter," Joey said.
"Yes I am!" Jaylin snapped, showing bright gold eyes, which made Joey step back in fright. "Leave Daddy alone! He's my real parents and you can't take him away from me!"
"Jaylin no!" Yugi ordered boldly as Jaylin looked up and saw a pair of bright red eyes, a glowing eye shown on his forehead. Jaylin reached out and touched the glowing eye with the tip of her fingers. She then looked into those crimson eyes. "I will handle Joey. Do I make myself clear."
"Yes Daddy," Jaylin whispered, resting her head on Yugi's chest and letting herself calm down.
"She is my daughter," Yugi glared at Joey, still showing his red glowing eyes, which fade to their normal violet ones.
Joey turned and left. He didn't want to make Yugi anymore angry than he already was. At this point, Joey knew there was nothing he could do to save his best friend from doing the biggest mistake of his life, or at least it was in his mind during the time.
At the present time of Duel Academy, Jaylin was lying on her bed, staring at the bottom of Carl's bunk bed. She was thinking back at lost memories. A sigh escaped her lips, remembering the comfort she felt when she first realized that Yugi had dark powers like her. How long Yugi had known she had those powers was beyond her knowledge, since Yugi never said how long it was. He just somehow knew at that very moment.
Jaylin decided that it was a good day to get out of bed at the moment, being that she had her time of being alone for a while. There were so many things she was thinking about, mostly because of worrying when Nightshroud would appear. There was no doubt that Zane would be going against him this time and Jaylin wasn't sure how it would turn out. She rubbed her left arm, feeling the hard muscles she developed through years of training, then sat up on her bunk bed.
It was time to prepare for her duel against Chazz Princeton.
It was 4:30, the time for Jaylin's duel against Chazz for round 2. Jaylin fixed her collar, stepping onto the stage as Chazz appeared in his black trench coat with his devious smirk. They both appeared across from each other, shuffling their decks.
"NOW, IT IS TIME FOR OUR NEXT DUEL FOR ROUND 2: JAYLIN YUKI VERSUS CHAZZ PRINCETON!" Dr. Crowler announced as everyone applauded. Just like Jaylin and her friends predicted, the crowd was much fuller now, being that two expert duelists were dueling each other and had reputations. Of course, Jaylin's friends were at the very front and the dance team was in the back. They were still astounded that Jaylin had played a Shadow Game and won, but found it cool, since she did bring back a student that was a smoking hot guy in their books.
"You better beware, Jaylin! My deck is different than the one you went up against last time!" Chazz smirked.
"I'll keep that in mind!" Jaylin replied.
A/N: Before you guys start saying "you're making Joey OOC bla bla bla." For one, this is from Jaylin's perspective, so she doesn't really know what happened or what Joey was thinking before coming to the hospital. In Joey's mind, Yugi is kidnapping a little girl from her home. Joey isn't hurting Yugi, or ditching him, or any of that. Joey is trying to help his friend and is getting frustrated, since Yugi won't listen. For the most part, Joey is just assuming and acting before thinking, which is part of his character. He does commonly act and assume before knowing what's really going on. He is aware that Jaylin was left on the streets, while injured, but still thinks that Yugi is still doing wrong by taking Jaylin from her parents. Just look at it like this: Joey lived most of his life under the roof of an alcoholic father, who makes him pay his debts. I think that Joey still lived with his father, instead of moving out, because his father was nice to him at one point or is at some points, so he's accepted that his father is trying at this point in time. Basically, he's comparing his father to Jaylin's parents, not realizing that they're probably really bad. Also, consider what Yugi is doing is completely taboo in Japan and would be considered "kidnapping." So... if your best friend, who never broke any rules in his life, suddenly decided to kidnap a five-year-old girl at age 20, you'd probably consider doing what Joey is doing yourself. That's pretty much what you're seeing, Joey trying to convince his friend to do the right thing.
