Chapter 25
Harry grin would have scared some harden killers as she watched Jade lay her first egg in over a thousand years. Not only had the creatures magic had worked, but if what Harry had asked was true Jade would now be able to lay different kinds of Xenomorph eggs. Aeria smiled and watched from across the room placing a game of chess with Hermione, while they felt the joy Harry did they were more considered with outwitting the other currently.
'Everything has gone as you had hoped,' Jade said, her tone joyful.
'Yes, but we need to make sure this is not a onetime thing, and see what kind of eggs you can make,' Harry said, walking over and touching the slimy egg, feeling the warmth that came from within it.
'Harry, you are acting a lot darker than normal,' Hermione commented.
Harry stopped and blinked before shaking his head and letting out a sigh this time speaking out loud, "The effects are becoming stronger. The need to spread the hive is… becoming harder to hold back."
"We know," Aeria said, as she knocked over her king admitting defeat.
Aeria then got up and walked over to Harry and drew him into a hug. He stiffened for a few moments before finally returning. This was not a hug of comfort for just Harry but for Aerie as well. They had come so far, yet each week that they moved forward with their changed bodies brought new needs and fear to them, and the risk of losing all they had gained seemed to stand on a knifes edge.
'We will find a way to stop these needs,' Jade said, though she feared it was likely they never would fully stop them.
Jade had already guessed the most likely reason for this none stop need to spread the hive. It had taken her a while and a look back in history to figure it out though. There was a sever danger to the hive, and the need to increase the hive's size was a response to make sure it would not die out. But what was the danger, what was the cause or threat big enough that it could override even a human's powerful mental skills and defense.
Only two things came to mind, and both were less than good for the Hive. The first was Dumbledore had somehow returned to the school and had entered into the Hive itself. Which was impossible seeing as their senses would have located him by now. The other possibly was a Hunter had turned up in the world. But again their sense were good enough to track the creatures.
Jade let out a small hiss, what were they missing it had to be something so simple that they could see it. It was only then she sensed something amiss in the Hive as her focus had been solely on Harry and laying the egg. Two Xenomorphs were dead in the Hive, and only a second later another few dead to one of their own.
'Rogue,' Jade hissed out causing Harry, Hermione, and Aeria to look at her in surprise, 'Find the rogue kill it now!'
The two other living Xenomorphs rushed off with one goal in mind, but the rogue Xenomorph was more than ready for them, killing them soon afterwards. Jade felt this, and growled lowly as she drew Harry, Aeria, and Hermione closer to her body to better protect them. She might be tided to a large egg sack, but that did not mean she could be killed as easily as the others.
Harry shifted forms become a full Xenomorph, soon followed by Hermione and Aeria as they pushed their sensors to their limits. They had found a threat and it was now time to destroy it. Suddenly a spell shot out from a spot on the wall flying towards Jade, but only pattered off her hide uselessly. Harry twisted his hand causing the passage to snap shut completely, but the Xenomorph had fell the passage already.
'What is going on, why is this one going rogue,' Hermione asked, surprised they had not sensed it.
'It's mind is blocked from our own, without a common hive mind any Xenomorph can leave the hive and go rogue,' Jade answered.
'I know that, what I mean is how is its mind being blocked from us,' Hermione said.
'That is what we shall find out,' Harry said letting out a dark hiss.
Twisting his clawed hand again, Harry started closing each passage one at a time. He was going to force the Xenomorph to them.
