Sorry for the delay. I have been back in class and I also found out that I am expecting another child in October. The first three months were rough with the morning sickness, but now I feel much better. I hope that you have stuck with me, and thank you very much for being patient.
25.
Alice was running through the woods towards Forks' local church. There was someone there that could really help the case against Lauren and Jessica. The church doors weren't open when she arrived, but she went around the back to the "classrooms" and saw the person she was looking for.
"Hey Angela, how's it going?" Alice asked.
Angela was so deep in thought that she startled at Alice's voice. "Oh, you scared me. How's Bella doing?"
"She's okay, but she is kind of upset because we may not have enough evidence against Lauren and Jessica. They might get away with it. No one else was in the bathroom to witness what happened so two against one isn't good odds." Alice said.
"If there was someone else in the bathroom with them, would it be enough to charge them?" Angela asked with a hint of fear in her voice. She had never gone against Lauren or Jessica, but it might be time to put the bullies in their place.
"Chief Swan said that it would. Do you know anybody who might have been in the bathroom that we didn't see?" Alice asked.
"Yes, I do."
"Who is she? Do you think that she would give a statement?"
"Yes I will. I can no longer allow those two "girls" get away with whatever they want. I will do this for Bella." Angela said, still a little scared.
"You were in the bathroom? How come we never saw you there?" Alice asked.
"Easy I was crouching on the toilet, so Jessica and Lauren didn't see me. Then I waited until you guys had run off with Bella to come out. I was really scared that if they saw me they might do to me what they did to Bella." Angela confessed.
Alice put a hand on her shoulder, and reassured her, "They will not do this to you or Bella again, if the Chief has anything to say about it."
Angela looked into Alice's eyes and timidly asked, "Will you come with me to the station to give my statement? I know they are there and I really don't think I could do it without someone with me."
"I sure will. You have been a great friend to Bella since she first arrived. I think that you are a very brave person and one with a pure soul." Alice said. The two girls walked out to Angela's car and headed for the police station in comfortable silence.
When they pulled into the station, Charlie was waiting outside. Alice had texted him while they were driving.
"Hey Charlie! Angela here would like to give a statement about the attack on Bella. She was in the bathroom when Jessica and Lauren beat her up." Alice said.
Charlie's eyes lit up because he knew that Angela's statement would seal the deal on Jessica and Lauren's case. Those two bitches would be going to prison for a while. "Please come in to my office. Don't worry Jessica and Lauren can't see you, they are in the holding cells in the basement."
"What about their parents or lawyers?" Angela asked looking around nervously.
"I have sent them out of the station for the time being. They will not be allowed to enter the station until I tell the other officers that they may. If they do try and enter we will have them arrested." Charlie said.
"Can you do that?" Angela asked.
"I'm the Chief of Police, what I say goes." Charlie said with a smug look on his face. He went and closed the blinds on his windows to help with the privacy. Charlie gave Alice and Angela the seats on the couch he had in his office. He pulled a very uncomfortable looking chair and sat down with a note pad and a voice recorder. When Angela looked at the recorder, Charlie reassured her. "This will only be used for me and if the case doesn't go the way we think it will I will ask you if we may use this in court."
"Alright," Angela said, "Do you want me to begin?"
Charlie nodded and pressed the record button on the voice recorder. Angela gave a very detailed account to Charlie and when it was over she felt like the world had been lifted off of her shoulders. Charlie and Alice left the office to make sure that no lawyers or parents were skulking around. Alice noticed that Lauren and Jessica's mothers were in the parking lot trying their hardest (that's not saying much) to stay out of sight. What they seemed not to realize is that the sedan they were behind had windows (DUH) and they could be seen. Alice got Charlie's attention and pointed to the women. Charlie went out and confronted the "ladies", "I thought I made it clear that you weren't to be here at all until I tell you it is okay."
"Well we have every right to stand in a public place." Mrs. Stanley said with a bitchy attitude, while Mrs. Mallory nodded and glared.
"I'm sorry to inform you, but that is called loitering. That isn't allowed in this parking lot and the fact that I have already told you that you needed to leave the area, I'm placing you under arrest. You may call your lawyers after awhile." Charlie said while he and another officer placed handcuffs on the protesting women.
Alice looked to make sure that nobody else would try anything; she told Charlie that it was clear. They lead Angela out and Alice made sure that she made it home without any issues. She advised Angela not to tell her parents about the meeting with Charlie at the moment, uncertain that they wouldn't go and say something to the families. Angela agreed that it was best for the time being. As Alice was about to leave the Webber house a thought occurred to her. "Do you want to ride with us to school from now on Angela, and when Bella is better would you like to come to our house?"
"I would love that! I feel really close to you and your family, so getting to know them better is an awesome idea." Angela said with a large smile on her face.
A vision hit Alice at that moment.
Angela was running and laughing with Bella, both had on beautiful outfits and golden eyes. Suddenly Ben runs up and grabs Angela and spins her around at vampire speed. He plants a kiss on her lips and she giggles.
Angela is walking down the aisle towards Ben; Carlisle as her escort. "Strange," Alice thought "where are her parents." Charlie was waiting with Ben as the Minister. Ben and Angela decided to take the Cullen last name.
Alice smiles at Angela with a knowing look. "Great, we'll be here tomorrow morning to scoop you up for school. Bella should be home tomorrow afternoon! So if you want you may come over tomorrow after school." Angela agreed and Alice headed home. After Alice left Angela was thinking that the Cullen family was a remarkable family, and there was something different about them but she couldn't put her finger on it. It wasn't something that bothered her, but it actually calmed her. She knew instinctively that she would find out as soon as it was time, and that other people wouldn't and couldn't handle the secret. She really wasn't scared, but excited.
