Chapter 25

Lily walks over to the ghost "your saying that you would make Severus your heir by magic and if he got married to anyone then Voldemort would have to accept it."

Salazar nods "I think its' about time my house had a real heir and not a mad man, the choice is up to you Severus."

Lily looks over at Severus "No pressure Severus but you could stop this whole war, but again no pressure."

Severus stands up and walks over to them "I think we should talk to Albus before anything is decided."

They were walking towards Albus's office; Salazar floated beside Lily "you should also bring your son into the conversation."

Lily looks at Salazar "I think we should wait, who knows. Severus might disagree to do it."

Salazar smirks at the Lioness "yes but we both know that if Severus does agree to be my heir, I am pretty sure that he will ask you to marry him. This means that Harry would be protected via your bond with Severus meaning Voldemort could not harm him."

Lily nods and notices that they are standing outside of Albus's office "one step at a time Salazar. Severus has a choice and for once it will be his choice."

They look across his desk and Albus. The headmaster bows his head out of respect to the founder; Salazar explains to Albus everything that he had told Severus and Lily.

Albus looks over at Severus "I agree with Salazar and Miss. Evans; this is your choice Severus. I suggest you go away alone and think things over."

The three of them leave Albus's office, Lily looks at Severus "this is your choice Sev; I'll let you think it over."

Severus leads her to his rooms again and holds her "I will think but you can stay right here."

Lily looks at him "Sev this is your choice. "

Severus nods "yes this is my choice, however if I do become the heir by magic and it stops the war and saves people, I don't see it being a bad idea."

Lily looks at him "You have to think long term Severus; you would be someone's husband, then someone's father. We can win this war without you having to do this. Just remember that Severus, marriages in the wizarding world are so much different than in our little muggle world. Marriage here is for life."

Severus looks at her "our little muggle world, I'm willing to do this. But thank you for actually making sure I was given this choice."

Lily kisses his cheek "You deserve to be given a choice Severus. You should tell Salazar and Albus."

Severus went to tell Albus and Salazar that he had made his decision and that he would become the new heir of Slytherin house via magic and he would protect the students of the castle because of this and many people in the wizarding world because there would be no war.

Salazar floats back to his house "you are doing the right thing Severus; I do wonder who the lucky woman will be that you are going to marry IF you did decide that was what you wanted to do."

Severus closes the portrait in the founders face; Salazar smirks and floats around to tell the other founders the good news.

Lily looks up "well?"

Severus nods at her "I told them that I have decided to be the new heir, I will try and save our world."

Lily kisses him "I'll be right beside you Severus just like I am with Harry."

Severus kisses her back "thank you, I appreciate it Lilly. You have always been there for me. I can protect you and Harry from him."

Lily snuggles into his lap "I know Severus, I know. But this is your life Severus."

Severus holds her "I lost you once Lily. This is what I want, I don't want to see fear in my student's eyes, and I want you to be able to walk down Hogsmead without fear."

Lily sits across his lap "you mean you want us to be able to walk through Hogsmead together, without fear."

Severus holds her on his lap "You're willing to do this Lily."

Lily looks at him "Yes, everyone keeps telling me to be happy and you make me happy."

Salazar watches them talk and act as if they were teenagers again. Severus was just holding Lily on his lap. They were just thinking about what would happen and what will change when their plan goes ahead, in a few hours.

Harry gets told by Godric Gryffindor that something was going to happen with his mum and Severus. Harry ends down to the dungeons to make sure that his mother was alright.

Severus opens the portrait door and sees that it is Harry that is there and can see that he is concerned about Lily; Severus shows Harry that Lily was alright. Harry saw that his mum was asleep on the sofa of his potions teacher.

Severus looks at Harry "I would like to have a talk with you Mr. Potter, if you would please follow me."

Severus walks outside and Harry quickly follows him. Severus has no idea how to explain to Harry what was going to happen. He knew Harry did not want other people that he loved to die around him for him. He also wanted to make Harry know that he would not be replacing James as his father or the father figure that both Sirius and Remus had become.

He would just be another male figure in his life that would be there if Harry did need to confine in some one if he could not tell his mum or anyone else. They both stop and stare out at the Black Lake.

Severus knows that it is now or never "As you know Mr. Potter the war is coming soon." Harry nods and Severus carries on "I have been informed by Lord Slytherin that there might be away around everything. I have decided that the option that was given to me, I have accepted."

Severus let Harry sink in the news; Harry looks at his teacher "what was the option that you were given Professor?"

Severus sighs "the founders have the option to pass on their magic to the head of their houses to help protect the students of that house, Lord Gryffindor has pass his magic on to Professor McGonagall already, so she can be seen as his heir. Lord Slytherin has offered me the choice to become the new Slytherin heir by magic; this means that the dark lord would have accept everything I did if he wanted to stay the Slytherin heir by blood."

Harry becomes speechless…
