Lights in the Dark
Joey stood out on the back patio, he stared off in where the two puppies where playing. It was about mid early morning and they all were waiting anxiously for word from the Detectives. He wondered where they were and what they were doing. He remembered they rushing off in a hurry after they received a call from someone, Detective Kono only said that it was another lead. Whatever it was he prayed it led to their dear Noa. Still, he couldn't help but terrifying thought running through his mind. Things, like how bad was he hurt? Whatever was happening he hoped it hadn't turned into a much worse situation. He molded his face extremely concerned at that thought. They couldn't handle any bad news.
He knew for sure that his dear Seto wouldn't be able to handle any, he frowned.
Yami came behind him then, he lessened his face at Joey's demeanor. He knew how worried the teen was, he was too. He said a small prayer as he walked out fully on the back patio. He stood beside him and like his friend, stared out toward the two puppies. "I'm sure everything's okay Joey," he knew were his thoughts were. He tried his best to comfort him. He didn't want him to lose his faith now.
Joey slowly nodded but still, he didn't say anything. He just stood there listlessly.
Yami inhaled a slow breath and continued, "And I'm sure they have Noa now and that they will be bringing him home real soon," he lined his brow with confidence.
Again, Joey nodded slowly but still, he didn't say anything. He just prayed for that.
Yami molded his brow concerned at his disconnect but again, he understood his responses. He was too worried about Noa, they all were. He just hoped his friend believed his words though. It was important not to lose faith right now. He knew how his friends were starting to get tired of him reminding them that, but it was true. He always held on to his faith regardless of what was going on. Because of that, it got him through some pretty rough moments in both his and Yugi's lives.
With that, he then shifted his thoughts to something just as important, "How're Seto and Mok doing?" he knew they were in the middle something that involved the videotape, he lessened his eyes, "They've been in his office for quite a while."
Joey frowned a bit at the mention of Seto. Yes, he and Mokuba had been in his office for a few hours now. He wondered was going on with those two. "Dunno…"
"Well… I'm sure they're all right," Yami viewed him then, he saw him nod again.
Joey hoped on that too, especially for Mokuba. The boy would be watching the videotape of his mother for the first time, in a long time. He prayed that Mok was dealing with it well. He hated to see him in pain, he was dealing with enough.
Yami turned his eyes back to the puppies. He smiled while he watched them play around. "The puppies are going to be so happy to see Noa when he gets home."
Joey smiled then while his mind lingered on the thought, "Yeah… they sure will."

Back in the living room, Bakura still sat in the same spot on the couch. Like everyone else, he was waiting to hear from the Detectives about Noa. He shook his head annoyed that they weren't allowed go to the forest to search. He certainly could track down Noa within an hour if they let him aid in the hunt.
Marik came in then and tapered his face slightly at his annoyed face, "I know you still want to go out there love." He walked over and sat next to him, he gripped his hand then. "But I still stand what I said. I want you to stay out trouble from this point on. I don't want you to be sent away for another six months or more. I-" he drifted off. He couldn't admit it but couldn't bear to lose him like that again.
Bakura squeezed his hand back, "I understand Marik," turned to him, "Really."
Marik inhaled a breath. Tiredly, he glanced up then when Seto walked into the room with a beat down form. He lessened his brow a bit when he saw Mokuba in his arms. His face was tear-soaked and flushed, the boy had fallen asleep then.
Bakura tapered his eyes a bit, "How's he?" he viewed the boy for a moment.
"He's okay for the most part," Seto laid his brother down gently on the cushion chair. They had spent several hours in his office with the videotape. They mesmerized it, discussed it and cried over it even. Mokuba handle it well, more than he thought his brother would. He faced the two then, "Where's Joey?"
"Out in the back patio I think," Marik pointed his head for a second, he saw him massaged his forehead, thanked him then left for the patio in an even pace.
Seto massaged his forehead. He thanked him then went on to find Joey. He wanted to let him know how they were doing, especially after they watched the videotape. He knew for sure that his love would be very worried about them.
Bakura watched him go with a lesser brow, he inhaled a stale breath. He very much wanted to see the videotape himself, to finally see what their mother looked like. He also wanted to know how that psycho Baiko got a tape of her. However, he knew Seto, his friend probably wouldn't allow him to see it or tell them anything surrounding the tape. It was a private matter, for their eyes to see and for them to know which he could respect. With that he returned to his position. A moment later, he then perked up a bit when Mr. Fields came in.
Just then Mr. Fields came in to the room with a wool blanket. He went quietly over to Mokuba and very gently laid it over him. He gave him a soft look before he turned his attention to the two gentlemen, "Is anything I could get you two?"
Bakura leaned back in his seat, "Some coffee would be good," he lined his face.
"Very well, I'll make you guys some then," Mr. Fields bowed and went to do so.
"Thanks Charles," Marik watched him go, he leaned back in his own chair as well. Unexpectedly, Bakura's cell phone rang, he saw him picked it up and glanced at it.
Bakura picked up his phone, gave it a glance then answered it quick, "Yes, Ryou…"

In Muii Forest, Noa trailed behind the wolf. They been at it, he guessed for at least an four hours and maybe a half, but it seemed longer though. He didn't have a watch so time was hard to keep track of. Regardless, he let out a puff, he was starting to become tired and his leg was hurting some. He didn't want to stop but maybe he should anyway and rest, he didn't want to push himself too much and cause more injury to his leg, he frowned, that would be bad for him if that happened. So he called out to his furry companion reluctantly, "Hey… wolf?" he chewed his lip when he saw it stop in mid-step and turned to viewed him then.
Sky stopped in her tracks and faced the boy curiously. She wondered what the boy wanted. She noticed his flush look while he chewed his lip a bit nervous.
"Could we stop for a while and rest, I'm kinda tired now," Noa lined his face. He hoped the wolf would understand. He saw it creased its furry brow at him then.
Sky creased her brow, they should keep going but as he viewed the boy. He did look tired and they have been walking a while. Yes, they should get some rest.
Noa softened his face relieved when the wolf turned around and began to walk over to him. By that, he carefully sat down on the ground, not only did his leg hurt but his body ached for being the ringer with Razan. He sighed deeply and settled the mushrooms he had on his lap. He picked one up and began to eat it slow.
When Sky reached the boy she laid down next to his feet. She looked up toward the sky among the tree line, it was starting to get a bit warmer and soon it would be extremely hot. She softened her face worried. She hoped the boy wouldn't suffer a heatstroke out there. She wouldn't know what to do if that happened.
Noa viewed around the area, He could feel the thirst lacing his dry throat. He frowned for a moment, "Wish we could find some water," he mumbled sadly.
Sky whimpered at that, she wished that for that too. She could search for one she supposed but as she looked around, that might take hours though, she frowned.
Noa saw the wolf a bit worried, he didn't mean to worry it. "It's okay wolf," he softened his eyes, "We'll just rest here for a few minutes more then we'll go, kay."
Sky turned back to the boy, she then gave him a content look. Yes, that was a good idea she thought. By that, she rested her head down upon the boy's lap.
Noa smiled a bit, he slowly reached his hand up and started to pet its head some. He briefly glanced up toward the sky. This was going to be a long tough day.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Back at the Kaiba's house, Seto walked out onto the patio where Joey was. He spotted him and Yami there engaged in small talk. He cleared his throat to get their attention, "Hey Yami… could you leave us alone for a while?" he sighed a bit.
Yami faced him then and nodded respectably. "Sure," he and left then alone.
Joey turned to Seto concerned, he viewed his eyes for a moment, they were slightly red like he had been crying. He softened his eyes, "How're you doing?"
Seto inhaled a breath, "Right now… overwhelmed," he frowned a bit at that. No matter how many times he watched the tape of their mum, it still stung him deep.
Joey simply nodded, "How's Mokuba? You know after watching the tape and all."
"He's okay. He handled it better than I thought." Seto rubbed his forehead then, he could feel his head start to throb with a new-found headache. Too many worries were going on in his mind, but mostly they were about his two brothers.
Joey let a breath himself, "That's good," still he couldn't help but worry for him.
Seto knew his thoughts at that moment and lined his own face concerned. "Anyway, I'm going to ask Jin to come over just in case Mokie needs him."
Joey nodded, "Yeah, that's a good idea babe," he ran a hand through his hair.
However, Seto became frustrated, several hours had passed and they hadn't heard from the Detectives regarding Noa. "I wish the Detectives would call."
"They will," Joey lessened his eyes while watched him pace the floor. "
Seto hardened his brow though and started to pace the floor, "I'm about to agree with Bakura here and just go out and search that stupid forest our dam selves."
Joey frowned heavily and was about to reply when Seto's cellphone rang. He saw him answer it quick on speaker phone as his love hurried back to the living room. He followed along just as quick after him and just prayed that it was good news.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Yami, Bakura and Marik just gotten off the phone with their brothers just when they saw Seto rush in with his phone in his hands, while Joey followed after him.
Yami was about asked what was going on when he saw Joey mouth 'Detective Kono' to them while he pointed to Seto's phone. So he along with Bakura and Marik sat and waited anxiously to see what the Detective had to say about Noa.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Detective Kono waited eagerly for Mr. Kaiba answer his phone. The sooner they would retrieve his helicopter, the sooner they could go out and search for Noa.
Ito stood off to the side as he too waited eagerly for Mr. Kaiba to answer. He then perked up when Mr. Kaiba's avid voice came through on Kono's speaker phone.
"Hello, Detective Kono."
Kono perked up too, "Yes, Mr. Kaiba." He rutted his brow, "I'm going to get to it. We've gotten word that the suspect's had a house which led us to Muii Forest."
"And what did you find out there?"
"Please tell us you've found Noa?"
Kono then heard Mr. Wheeler illustrated the last question. He creased his brow though, he didn't know how to answer that yet, that Noa was still missing.
"Detective...?"
"No…" Detective Ito jump in then when he saw Kono hesitated for a moment. "Noa wasn't here when we searched the house but did find other telling signs."
Kono snapped out of the thoughts when Mr. Wheeler asked another question.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"Signs like what?" Joey lined his own brow more worried now. He had hoped that they were calling to tell them they've found Noa.
"I can't really say…"
Seto huffed at that, he hated when the Detectives would dance around the question. They needed answers. "Don't keep anything from us Detective, please."
Joey nodded his head, "Yes, whatever it is. We want to know."
"Like I've said Mr. Kaiba, Mr. Wheeler, I can't really say-"
"Then what can you really say Detective!" Seto shouted into the phone. He had about enough of his runaround, "I SAY enough with the bullshit answers and tell us what's really going on!" he demanded heatedly. He saw Yami stand from where he sat and was about to step in when warned him with his eyes to back off, which his friend reluctantly did. He then turned back to the intense conversation.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"Well…" Detective Kono paused for another moment before he continued, "All right… we've did recovery a body of-" he started to say but was cut off by then.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"A body…?" Joey became fearful when he heard the word body. He didn't want to believe that they were too late on saving him. He teared up, "Please don't say…"
"It was the body of the abductor Mr. Wheeler. I wasn't Noa's I assure you."
"Thank god," Joey was relieved by that, "But what does that mean?" he became very concerned, "What happened to him?" he looked over to Seto for a moment.
"We don't know exactly what happened."
Seto let go of the breath held but the narrowed his brow again. "Look I don't give a shit what happened to that asshole." He shaped his face roughly, "What I wanna know is what the hell happened with Noa?" he started to pace the floor again.
"There is pretty strong evidence that Noa could be in the woods somewhere."
"In the woods," Joey looked over to Seto who paused in mid-step. He molded his face apprehensively. "Could he be hiding there or maybe lost?" he frowned then.
"Yes."
Seto became worried too. Anything could happen in the woods. "If he's in the woods then what are you doing to find him Detective Kono?" he raised a brow.
"We have our search dogs out here combing the area as we speak. What I like from you Mr. Kaiba is your chopper. We might have better chance spotting him."
Seto massaged his forehead then, "Yes, of course Detective." He inhaled a short breath, "My chopper is pretty fast so we'll be there within ten minutes or less."
"No, I'm afraid you all can't be here Mr. Kaiba."
"And why the hell not," Seto narrowed his brow again. "I don't understand why we can't be out there too helping you search for him," he became very frustrated.
"Yeah, he could be hurt or god knows what," Joey chimed in wanting to help too.
"Please try to understand, we-"
"No, I don't want to understand Detective Kono. I want to go out there and find my brother." Seto snapped back at him. "Can YOU understand that?" he hissed.
"Seto… please," Yami finally stepped in, "Take a break, okay," he taken the phone from him. He could see the frustration was getting the better of Seto and knew his friend needed to keep a level head. Yelling at the Detective wasn't going to help the situation any less, yes, he knew this. He saw his friend glare at him but chose to walk away, which he was glad of. He didn't want to argue with him. With that, he then softened his face, "Hello Detective Kono. It's Yami Moto," he began.
Joey lessened his eyes, he thanked him for stepping in, he knew his love was about to lose it. With that, he went after Seto to make sure that he was okay.
Bakura watched the two take a few minutes to recollect themselves. The stress of it all was pushing his friends to the breaking point now, but could understand, the thought of Noa lost somewhere in the woods must be terrifying for them to hear. The only good thing about it was that the suspect was no longer a threat to Noa. He viewed over to Yami who was finishing up with the Detective. He hoped deep down that with the help of Seto's helicopter they would be able to find him soon.
He sighed and viewed ahead of him, he saw Mokuba was now curled up against Mr. Fields with a melancholy look. He knew he most of it was caused by Noa, however, seeing the video of his mother didn't help him any either. He shaped his brow then looked over to Marik sitting on the sofa at the right of him, who appeared to be in his lost in his own thoughts. With a heavy sigh he reached over to the coffee table and grabbed the remote to the TV. He switched it on, maybe some television would distract them for a while, but he highly doubted that.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
"Yes, thank you Mr. Moto and thank Mr. Kaiba for us for the use of chopper. We very much appreciate it," Detective Kono hung up the phone with an even brow.
Ito sighed deeply, "Well that went better than I hoped," he saw his partner nod.
"Yes and now all we have to do is wait for Mr. Kaiba's chopper," Kono mold his face anxiously. He hoped the chopper would aid better in their search of Noa.
Ito ran a hand through his hair, he could what Kono was thinking, he thought the same thing. He looked up to the sky, it was starting to get warm out and soon it would be boiling hot, he just hoped that Noa would be all right by then and stay cool. He sighed again, "Well… let's have some more coffee while we wait then."
