Dear Constanza,
Sheldon and I went on a double date tonight with our besties. Of course, it wasn't a double date in the strictest sense of the term considering that one of the parties was over a hundred feet away, dressed in period clothing, and pretending to be somebody else. Though, Constanza, Penny pretends very, very well.
Her interpretation of Blanche in Tennessee William's A Streetcar Named Desire was truly remarkable. Even Sheldon—who thinks that pursuing a career in the Arts is an inferior endeavor—found her to be very entertaining. It called to mind an episode I had during the throes of my teenage rebellion when, in blatant defiance of my mother, I auditioned for the role of Mother Superior in our school's production of The Sound of Music. I thought the nun's habit I had purchased from the local costume shop would make me a frontrunner among my fellow thespians, however, the drama teacher said she found my audition to be "too stiff and pious" for the part of a nun.
Which makes me all the more proud of Penny. Her dreams of being an actor are coming together at long last, and I can only hope that a person as passionate and deserving as she is finds as much success in her field of choice as the scientists all around her.
XOXOXOXOXO
